September 9th, 2025 – Has KC’s Contract Negotiation Begun?
Hello, welcome to the show. I am Cam Pitus and across from me is Jim Toth. Hello Jim Toth. What’s the point anymore? Dead inside. Ineviticably, irrevocably, inevitably irreably. Why was I ever born? As you wipe the sweat from your brow. Happy holidays. I don’t think so. What’s the point if I keep getting older and the bears just stay the same? Oh, this is what you’re on about. What is the point? I worked with a girl who went to journalism school in Toronto and she had a a job as a waitress at a diner to help pay for school and she said she worked with a guy who who was the cook at this diner, like a short order cook. And she said like once a month he would put the order up on the dash and ring the bell. Bing, order’s up. I’m dead inside. He would just keep cooking. I was like, “What’s the problem?” She I don’t know. He’s going through a divorce or something. It’s tough time. It’s just like, “I’m dead.” The orders never stop. It’s like Newman when you ran when you randomly announce that you’re dead inside. There’s a lot of builtup. Yeah. It’s like uh Newman when he went on that episode of Seinfeld when he went on about the mail. The mail never stops. Why do you guys Why do you guys always snap? Yeah. Well, it never stops. cuz the mail never stops. It never stops. I’ll tell you what, don’t come. They don’t stop coming. I had a I had a great day yesterday. I had a great feeling going into Monday Night Football. Oh yeah. I even convinced um young my young son at 4 and a half to turn off the YouTube so we could watch the pregame. And I was just feeling it and he was like, “Oh, go Bears.” He had his Bears hoodie on. Wow. I was making dinner and then they started talking. The Bears are the only NFL franchise to never have a 4,000yard passing quarterback. And I’m like, “Oh, no. That is pretty surprising.” They’ve been around a long time. Jim McMahon and I was like, “There he is. There’s the” And I’m like, “Oh, this I gotta” and then it started well. And I’m like, “I I gotta” And then JJ McCarthy turned into Joe Montana. Caleb Williams turned into Jim Toth in high school. And yeah, they should have just ran the ball more. How come we always run the ball, coach? Well, because you’re our quarterback. Anyway, I’ll move on. Jets at noon. This is exciting time actually. Yeah, I mentioned yesterday I’m pretty pumped. Uh, still to come on the show, uh, we’re going to talk. Hey, Dustin Wolf, Calgary Flames. That’s a great contract. We’ll discuss that. We’ll go through the details. Um, I got a great message from somebody named SA Bullan. I don’t know if this is a real name, but the name was SA Bullan on Instagram and had a great feels like a Simpsons thing. What is SA Bullan? If you say it quickly. Yeah. And so SA Bullan, maybe I’m See, that’s I’m always afraid on the internet by reading somebody’s name on the internet and it’s something dirty and I’m just like totally oblivious to it because Jim, I’m I’m I’m like an 80-year-old man. Like I don’t I don’t know what these fandangled kids are up to. I don’t know what they’re saying. So I like all this stuff is is beyond me. So I might be saying bad, but anyways. So SA Bull and I hope that your name isn’t dirty. But you had a great message on Instagram and you sent it over to the Jetset Noon page on Instagram. Give it a follow or like. What What do you do on Instagram? Do you follow you? Do you join? Do you join or you follow? Yeah, cuz it says following or followers. So, you’re following on Instagram. Again, this is how in in I’m big into Instagram. So, anyways, it’s a great and he sort of calls out the Jets longterm sort of boldness and it’s a great I don’t necessarily agree with it, but it’s a great talking point and it and it’s a great well-written response and I love this kind of stuff. Uh, so I want to make sure that uh we have time for it to talk about it today as well. Elias Person is taking part in a uh charity golf tournament and he had some comments about the upcoming season. So we’ll discuss that. Jets and noon is brought to you by Wash Method Car Wash 690 St. An’s no road a VIP take on the tech side and win a VIP car washer. My good friends at Wash Method 2047806868. We’ll announce the winner later in the program as we’re coming at you live from the Boston Pizza studio. Boston Pizza where kids eat free all September long. Conditions apply. Well, Jim, last I checked the date, uh, September 9th. It is September the 9th. Today is December September the 9th. So, players are starting to arrive. Mark Schiffley. Oh, the highlight of yesterday’s informal skate. Uh, Mark Schiffley, Cole Perfetti, Vladislav, Nemesikov, and Jonathan Taves were all working together on some stuff. Yeah. So, that’s that’s exciting. Informal skates just mean that um just mean that training camp is just around the corner. Do you ever wonder who pays for the ice? I’ve always wondered that. In fact, during the lockout when I would go to to the Hockey for All Center to cut stories, I’m like, who who pays for this? But I think they took turns. Like I think they just they they randomly book it for the two weeks prior to training camp and then every day a player would just like it’s your turn or whatever. So, who owns hockey for All Center? True North. So, wouldn’t they just provide ice to their players for in formal skates? Would they charge them businessman? Well, that’s what I’m wondering. Not at all. Cuz back in the day when you had informal ice, you booked the same ice for two weeks and then guys would just take turns. I want you to go and text text your contacts at True North and ask me if they do not provide ice for their players. I want you to ask that. He said, “Are you charging Jonathan Taves? This could be controversial. Are you charging Jonathan Taves to Cuz he was here early. Book an ice time.” Shley only had 200 on him and it’s 225 for the hour. He had to get in his car and go to the ATM. I know. We only accept cash here, Sh. I’m sorry. We only take cash. Are you tapping? Do you tap on the way out? No, no, no. It’s It’s your Porsche or whatever you’re driving. Do you have to tap for the rent for the ice? I I back in the day, this is old. You used to have to pay for it, but it wasn’t owned by the team. Yeah. So, you would rent ice and you would take turns. I don’t I don’t know if that happens anymore. You know, you know, Shley, you you walk around a lot of Jets gear, you know, stuff ain’t free. And I think as I got older, like the vet, like Shifley, who makes 8 mil, would just be like, “The ice is booked for the next two weeks. Whoever wants to join when you come to town, here’s the time.” Like the captain would put that out and then you just come and the captain would just Now, now I know that we’re dealing with people that have money. NHL players have money. Even the even the guy that’s making league minimum, they’re they’re still making good money comparative to the rest of the They can cover a sheet. They can cover a sheet. I know I’m dealing with this. I would be shocked if the if the Jets were char if true north was charging them for ice. That to me would be like text me text me anybody from the organization is listening right now. Text me who pays for the ice. Give Jim a text. There might be an NHL rule about this because one team cannot provide free ice while other teams who don’t own the ice. You’re very It might be a CBA competitive thing. I’m not joking. No, no, no. You’re right. It might be a CBA issue. But if it’s not, I’d be surprised. If there’s if there’s not like some underline because I know you got to go by the CBA 100%. Yes. But like, hey, by the way guys, X sheet, X sheet, Y sheet, Zed sheet is available for you guys at this time whenever you want. Can I I I appreciate the 8 and a half? Mark tells Kevin, but can I get a employee discount on the sheets before training camp? Like maybe if it’s 225, can I get a 180 or something? And they’re not they don’t want to pay the credit the credit card charge. So it’s it’s either debit or or cash, right? Honey, what is it? What is this? Two weeks of 225 a day on the card. What are you putting on your visa? We haven’t seen We talked about this. Yeah, we haven’t seen Cal Connor on the ice yet here. Uh so the expectation is, you know, you don’t have to be here for training camp. The expectation is he’ll be arriving sooner. He might be even here now. Um but Elliot Freiedman reported that Kyle Connor’s contract negotiations with the Winnipeg Jets were set to heat up in early September. uh with the extension um a significant priority for the team. No doubt about that. Uh it’s early December. Actually, I might even say, Jim, we’re approaching mid December. Um the last contract that Kyle Connor signed with the Winnipeg Jets was a seven-year deal back in 2019. Uh but it happened on September 28th. Um what do you think? Do you think that this is right now currently underway? Are we in the heat up stage here? I think so. I I think that um and I don’t know this for anything, but I I think when Elliot Friedman says that, I think Kyle Connor probably said, “We’ll talk when I get back in the summer.” I don’t want to get a call from my agent and have to spend an afternoon or a morning or a day in late July or early August while I’m on the lake or while I’m on the golf course to go, “What are the numbers?” And you know, Yeah. And I know this sounds ridiculous to listeners. Trust me, I know that. Mhm. But guys like to get away from the game in the summer and they want to do anything but think about hockey. Now, I know what listeners are thinking. If you’re talking 10 11 million a year, you might want to think about it. But if you know there’s time and there is no rush, some guys literally go, you know, I’m meeting with Chevy next week on August 11th. Players might go, I can you can we just wait till I get back to the town. When I get back, I’m going to be in all hockey mode again. And so now that he’s coming back or is back, I think that the agent’s sitting down with with Kevin or Kevin’s calling the agent going, “Here’s what you think.” And then now Kyle’s going to field some calls. Well, when he gets to town and takes part in these non training camp ice sessions, probably going to take some calls and go, “This is what they’re talking. This is the number. These are the options.” And then he’ll get into it. But I can understand why a guy on a lake or on a golf course in August might not. And I know that sounds ridiculous, but it’s only ridiculous if you need It’s the same with Conor McDavid. Yeah. There’s no Conor McDavid will get what he gets. We all know that. The idea that it’s taken 70 days and there’s still not a deal done doesn’t have to be I I would be the same in their shoes to be honest with you. Yeah. I mean my 247 for six to seven months of the year is all hockey. I don’t mind going for the next six weeks or two months I don’t want to think talk or I I would think by now too and there’s obviously been preliminary conversations. I think both sides probably understand they they have the two points that they’re trying to come together on, right? It’s not like the Jets on July 1st all of a sudden said, “Oh boy, we got to get working on this thing.” Right. Um this contract with Kyle Connor, they have been preparing carefully for probably since um at least the time that Mark Schiffley and Connor Halabach resigned. I I think the next big contract that they were preparing, okay, we got to make sure that we keep Kyle Connor here. you know, let’s start setting the stage for what is going to lead up to making sure that we can keep um a dynamic offensive weapon like Kyle Connor with the with the Winnipeg Jets. Yeah. Yeah. Plus, also Detroit got pounded in Green Bay on Sunday, and the last thing you want to do is call Kyle Connor. Yeah, it’s a good point. Like, whoever the minute the minute the Vikings won that game last night, to the four or five of you that called me, the friendship’s over. Mhm. You don’t do that to somebody. No, you don’t. You have a little like you didn’t call me last night. No, I mean he did. He texted me. Did he? Yeah. Braden Awasco, producer of the program. Did you text Jim Toth about the loss? To be fair, whenever the Blue Jays lose, I get a phone call and a voice message that goes, “Well, well, well.” And then he hangs up the phone. You don’t know that’s me. You don’t know that. I could be another Jim Toth. You don’t know who that is. Who’s the other Jim Toth? I don’t know. Look it up. the one that’s married to what’s her name? Oh, no, that was me. She was really mean to me, though. Oh, sorry about that. And she owes me money. Yeah, I got sheets to cover. Let’s take a break. Let’s come back on the other side. Hey, we’re going to discuss this. Uh Elias Person making some comments. How does he feel about uh heading into this upcoming season? And put on some weight, Jim Toth. I could give him tips on that. No problem. Well, listen. Not the good kind of weight, you know, but you know, you know, I I put on some weight this summer, too. You know, you don’t hear me bragging about it. Sadi CJ O. Welcome back. Um, Elias Patterson, the forward, speaking ahead of the Jake Milford Charity Golf Tournament uh in Suriri, BC, says he put on 6 kilos in the summer and he’s feeling confident heading into the season. What is 6 kilos? Uh, well, it’s a kilo is like 2.2 lb. So, it’s about 14 15 pounds. It’s about 30 years, too, if you get caught. Why are we talking in kilos? Just how many pounds? That’s cuz he’s he’s Swedish, so he probably said in kilos. How many pounds? Well, that’s about like it’d be about 14. I think it’s about 14. That is all joking aside, that is tough to do in a summer. Yeah, that is real tough. Yeah. So, good for him. That’s a lot of work. I got a great message that we got on Instagram here from SA Bullan who’s calling out the boldness of the Winnipeg Jets. I want to read it for you. Can’t miss after this. Don’t go away. 680 CJ O Jets at noon brought to you by Wash Meth and Car Wash 690 St. An’s Road. VIP take on the text line to win a VIP car washer. our good friends at WashMth at 2047806868. We’ll announce the winner later in the program, which is coming at you live from the Boston Pizza Studio, Boston Pizza, where kids eat free all September long. Conditions apply. Uh you pointed out a text message here we got from Ron. And just uh before we uh we move on to that message I got on Instagram that I want to make sure that I read here, Ron, uh just to carry on the conversation we’re having about Kyle Connor and contract negotiations. Are we truly right now in the heat of those negotiations uh leading up to the official start of training camp? Ron, Texas show 2047806868 says, “I truly believe that Nicker’s signing elsewhere is connected to Kyle Connor. I think they know that he is a cornerstone of the team and needed to make sure that they had the cap space uh long term to keep him. I don’t disagree with that and I agree morally on that. Um Nick Eers knew that. Like Nick Eers knew that Kyle Connor will be the number one left winger on this team probably for the next eight years minimum. Yeah. Maximum. Yeah. Sorry. So, and it’s part and part you and I were talking about this during the break like let’s revisit the snake dealers. So they offered him eight. He thanked them profusely. I I do believe to this day, and I put this out on social media, and people like were bashing me going, “Well, why would they try to convince him to stay with Taves and all this?” They weren’t trying to convince him with Taves. Taves was coming here whether Eers was here or not. And now that Taves is here, they may have gone, “Well, we’ll play you with Taves.” Yeah. But it wasn’t about that, I don’t think. I think both Nick and the Jets were more than open to staying together. I also think that if they didn’t stay together, they were both more than fine with moving in a different direction. I want to revisit the fact that should the Jets have done that, they’re not going to get another $8 million player to play that left side in the top six. They’re just not for this. There’s nobody coming here that’s going to go, “Yes, I’ll come.” That’s the caliber of seven and a half to eight million for the next two years. Yes. Was Nick Eers the best option to bring back for the next two years? Yes. But beyond that, I don’t know. And then from Nick’s standpoint, he’s not in an unfamiliar situation in Carolina. What is different is he’s closer to his sister in Florida. Yeah. He’s gets to experience a new lifestyle, new I do know this about Nick. Nick’s not a fisherman. Nick’s not a hunter. Nick’s not an outdoor wilderness person. And Nick loves life. Nick likes to experience things. He likes to go back home. He likes to travel. He likes soccer. He likes to go to professional soccer in his homeland and all this stuff, but he likes to This is a new experience to him. This is what’s always lost in free agency. Always lost in free agency is there’s um there’s four or five things at the forefront that are always there. The money, the situation hockey-wise, the chance to win, all that stuff. But this is still a human being. Ask Pier Luke Dwis. Pierre Luke Dubois. The reason he’s not in LA anymore is because he wanted to live in LA and he was at restaurants with you know in the athletic article that you know I ran Adam Sandler and I like he wanted to live that lifestyle. Took his took his sister and his mom to Nou and so what so Nick just like wants to experience something new. He loved his 10 years here. He’ll always be a part of this organization in my opinion. I agree. But he’s also looking at the opportunity. When opportunity prevents presents itself, I’m a person of of I get this all the time at home. You’re such a routine guy. Like the routine like it has to breakfast has to be at this time this time because we got to get out the door. We got to get to work. I like the routine. Blah blah. Things shift and change and I’m like right away I’m like, “Oh, well, how are we going to do?” And there’s a multiple of ways to do things and there’s a multiple of ways to live your life. And I really respect and admire the people that go, “This is a new challenge and I want to be challenged. I want to live a different experience while I’m still in the National Hockey League.” Well, it’s certainly uh he’s going to it’s going to be a totally different thing from going from Winnipeg, Fishbowl Winnipeg to Raleigh, North Carolina, which you know has a has a solid fan base and uh but it’s it’s it’s a lot different and that goes without saying, but I think another important part of and and I think it is I think you totally nailed that, Jim. I about the experience and doing something different and finding out what it is like to, you know, live in in Carolina and play hockey there and all that. Nick is also he wants to win. He’s not chasing, you know, the money was there. That’s fine. Maybe the Jets offered him more money or or competitive. I I I don’t think that that was a concern here as much as um he want Nick wants to win. Nick Nick wants to win. That that is so obvious. But I I and I think he knew he could win here. He knew he could win here, but he also Yeah. I mean, Carolina’s in a good has a good shot, too. Yeah. That doesn’t come with a different environment. That doesn’t come with a different lifestyle. That doesn’t come with a different climate. That doesn’t come with the different meeting new people. That doesn’t come with going to different restaurants. That doesn’t come with Yeah. And some people just like that. And I I kind of admire that cuz I’m just traditionally a routine guy. But the minute I get out of my routine, I’m like, I got to do more of this. I got to get out more. I got to do I got to travel more. Like I love this. This was awesome. But my first reaction prior to going on this trip a year ago was, well, that’s in the middle of the season and I got hockey to cover and we got kids in school. Like I’m always that guy, right? And I really admire the people who are like, I could stay here and be very happy or I could try something new. And I think that’s what happened at the end. We talk about the Olympics coming up and if we have any concerns particularly about Connor Halabach and his workload, especially with the Olympics out in Italy. So, if you want to hear our conversation about that, make sure you tune in. So, back to the textter. I I think the Jets were more than happy to they just want an $8 million guy there. And what I mean by $8 million, the the caliber of player that earns $8 million. And when it wasn’t Nick, I wonder like if they shouldn’t have maybe because we’re going to get into this with your next the great texter was it’s just so hard to get a like they were in on Besser, right? Mhm. I would imagine if they were giving Nick Eer’s eight, they would have offered Besser eight. Brock Nelson, the Jets were heavy in that at the deadline getting him. He chose Col he chose Colorado. Colorado swoops in. I want to go to I want to go to Colorado. He said that about the the other teams and he made that very clear when he resigned with them. You know what I mean? Then I go full circle of whether you like Eers or don’t, whether you think it’s a perfect fit or not. Are the should the Jets have maybe like this not because it’s a bad option, but because it was maybe their only option. So this was the message that we got on Instagram. This one was from SA Bolan. Uh and here here’s here’s the message that we received. And and and SA or who whatever whatever your name is, I hope you’re listening. Uh, so this texture says, “It’s frustrating watching top-notch players become available and never hear that the Jets are interested in said player. Status quo seems to win the day with them. We have a good base, but could really push forward if we get a topline scorer. Jason Robertson, Ricard Raquel, McTavish, who’s a center in Anaheim, is available, too. I’m not holding my breath. Some late first round pick is breaking out this year. give up some good players and prospects Jets. Many other GMs look like they’re working hard to improve their team. Um, circles back to the Eers. Like if you can’t get any of these players, should you have gone eight and a half for him or so pulling in a guy like I first of all, I don’t think Anaheim wants to get rid of Mason McTavish. I I think Anaheim wants to extend this as long as possible. All the guys that Anaheim’s wanted to get rid of, they’ve gotten rid of. If they wanted to get rid of Mason McTavish, they would have pulled the trade off by now. Okay, so you’re a team in a rebuild. Why would you want to trade away a young 20some centerman who’s just starting to scratch the surface on his career? Marco Rossi, right? Yeah. Like look at the play. Look at the defenseman and the wingers. Or is um Ziggress a winger or he’s a winger? He’s a winger. Winger. Yeah. So look at the winger and defenseman. young developing prospect players that have shown they can play in the NHL and they’ve traded them away. It’s because they’re a center. The one thing you do not want to get rid of is a young center like that. And same with Rossi. So, and here’s the other thing we have to remember about the McTavish. You remember all summer I was in on this. If you could get McTavish here, I would do it. And if he wants six million, I would pay him seven and I would get him in a seven-year deal and I would get him here. But it’s not prospects and picks. You’re not getting a McTavish. And I talked about this with David Pegnata when he was on the show while you were away. And he said, “If you’re talking Rossi, it starts with Cole Perfetti.” Mhm. And if you have Taves here already, you’ve got that center. So it’s it’s talent in and talent out. We’re not talking about McTavish. And so this textter says, “Send some players out.” Well, do not tell me bottom six players and bottom six defensive. See, it’s like Yeah. I mean, pick a player in the top six that you’re sending to Anaheim for Mason McTavish. Yeah. It’s a player in your top six. And if I’m Anaheim, I start with Gabe Valardi. I know that Shley and Connor aren’t going anywhere for you guys, but it starts with Valardi and then it goes to Perfetti. And if you trade any one of those guys plus probably a pick to get McTavish here. Yeah. No, and that’s Jim, you’re absolutely right. That’s where this goes. So McTavish last year had 76 games, 22 goals, 52 points. He’s got 229 goals. He’s an RFA right now. He does not have a contract. It would be bad management, I believe, um, from the Anaheim Ducks to trade him away without exhausting every single option available. Training camp has not started yet. You’re not going to want to get rid of You want Mason McTavish to be a part of your team for the long haul. This guy gives a crap, which is why I think they sent some of those other guys packing gym on Anaheim. He cares about winning. He cares in that and I and I and I mention this all the time. I’m going to mention it again. In that meaningless final 82 game, 82nd game of the year for Anaheim, which they played here in Winnipeg, the Jets scored in overtime to win that game. I think it was Mark Shiffley scored the goal or it was Kyle Connor was on the ice. He was so frustrated that losing that game, he took his stick and broke it over the crossbar. I love that about him. That guy, he gives a crap. I don’t care. I don’t care. We’re out. We’ve been out of the playoffs for six months already at this point. It’s not here comes summer. Get me on a plane home. Let’s go. It’s the frustration and another loss. And that’s right. And it it’s mounting, right? So, a guy like that who has that level of passion, I’m exhausting all options before bringing a guy like that on. And as is a 22-year-old center with a bright future in this league, Anaheim, again, the ask is astonishingly high. So, whenever we hear people go out and say, “Why don’t the Jets go and get this player? Why don’t they go get that?” It’s like, do you know what the ask is and what the Jets would have to give up to acquire a player like that? You have to understand is your team worse or better with McTavish. If it’s Valardi or Perfetti going on. Yeah. And now ask yourself that. Yeah. You have Shley and Taves and on the right side is Valardi and and Perfetti. If you bring in McTavish and Lowry’s coming back and you send out even prophetti and a first round pick and some prospect, is your team better chance of winning the Stanley Cup this year? Yeah. I don’t I don’t think they are because you’ve weakened the right side now and you’ve added to the center where you might be full right now. Yeah. Um, now for the years to come, that’s a different story. But I just, that’s how it you have to think about it, right? Like before Taves was here, I’m like, yes, maybe I would do this. But now all of a sudden, instead of you have a second line center, he’s 22 years old and you have no left winger and right winger on the second line in terms of Okay, let’s go to Jason Robertson now. Okay, so Jason Robertson at the end of this season, he’s 7.75, right? I know he didn’t have the best year last year, but he’s 26-y old. who’s an RFA next year with Dallas, a divisional opponent who both teams have a very high likelihood of again meeting in the playoffs. What do you think the Winnipeg Jets would have to give up to bring in somebody like Jason Robertson? It would be again it would be such a high cost when you have a team like the Jets. It doesn’t make sense to go out and and try these big bold moves like this. I I just I I just think there’s always risk and there’s always reward on those risks, but you have to make the right plays. You have to make the right moves. If it makes a team better, they’ll do it. But what’s lost in this conversation, I think fans are tired of hearing this, but they were in on Brock Nelson, and Brock Nelson said no. Yeah, they were in on Brock Besser and Brock Besser decided to stay in Vancouver. It’s not like they’re not trying. And I think that’s what’s lost in this is if they feel their team will be better, they will make like I’m sorry I love everything about Cole Proffetti in the future in his youth, but Brock Besser makes you a better team right now on that right side. If you go Valardi Besser or Besser Valardi, that’s a better team without a doubt. So I can see why you’re in on that. Yeah. And if you can do it without giving up Perfetti, that makes you even better. So that’s why they were in on Besser. Yeah. Exactly. But Besser said no and stayed in Vancouver. They’re in on Brock Nelson. Does Brock Nelson make you better? Yes. Did you have to give anything up? No. But he said no. So, the idea that they’re not in on this or the fact that they don’t try as hard as everybody else, I think they’re opposite. I think they try harder than everybody. I I think I think people if they saw the actual what the real ask is, what the offers that are out there, what what trades and what deals almost come to fruition but get stopped short for X reason or that reason. I think they would people would be very very surprised how active we always get like they left $6 million on the table at the deadline and people are mad about that and I’m like do you do you want to spend the $6 million on a $3 million player? Well, and how do you know that things didn’t even work out? How do you know that that money wasn’t trying to be spent there? There is no doubt in my mind that they didn’t try to spend that money. And I have no doubt in my mind they were offered some junk for it and they said no to the junk and couldn’t get the value. Let’s take a break. Let’s come back on the other side. Hey, we’ll give away that uh cuz it doesn’t make sense anymore. It has to Things have to make sense. Oh, we’re going to save $6 million at the deadline for what? Everybody who shot us a text. Uh real quick, uh Dustin Wolf, goalender for the Calgary Flames, has signed an extension for seven years with an AAV of $7.5 million. Jim Toth, I think this is an absolutely perfect contract for Wolf and for the Calgary Flames. I think Conroy nailed this one. I I I I will rave all the rest of the next 10 seconds about how much I like this contract. I think it’s I think it’s great. years old. I think it’s right on the button and exactly what it needs to be. 24 years old. He is the real deal. Although only one full season, he’s the real deal. He was the AHL player of the year and goalie of the year. He’s he’s shown everything possible even on a poor lineup. Um and at 7 and a half, I I liken this to like what we saw in the second or third deal for Shifley and and Morrisy and Eers when they all got 6 million. I think the 7.5 is the new quote unquote $6 million deal. to have him locked up for that long and it gives you a lot of like in three years Cam he could be out playing that. No, without a doubt. And from his standpoint I expect him to honestly he’ll be he’ll be a UFA with $47 million in the bank. Thank you very much to Braden Wasco for producing the show. Great job as always. Jim told take you all the way until 2:00. That’s it for me. I’ll be back same time. Get our
Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported last week that contract talks between the Winnipeg Jets and Kyle Connor’s camp would kick off in early September.
Well, it’s early September — and optimism is building that a long-term deal could be in place before the season begins. But have extension talks really ramped up? And what obstacles might still be in the way?
Cam & Jim also dive into a listener text from Instagram questioning whether the Jets have shown enough interest in big-name players who could be available. Has the team fallen short of building the bold vision fans expected?
Plus: the Flames lock in their next starting goalie long-term, and a familiar face on the Canucks — remembered for both highs and lows — says he’s feeling confident about the season ahead.
All that and more on today’s edition of Jets @ Noon!

They even get free towels and pucks.
Notes to everyone: If someone wants to offer me $10million .. you can call me on the lake or the golf course. No problem. I'll get over it.
