There are 3 reasons to turn this down.
1. He senses the wild are desperate and can get more money from them
2. He thinks he can get more money elsewhere
3. He just doesn’t want to stay in Minnesota
As good as he is, I’d be slightly concerned handing out 16m a year to someone injury prone. The Rangers will have the option next summer to potentially make a huge move in trying to get Mcdavid (slim chance he leaves Edmonton but still). Panarin’s contract expires and there will be plenty of cap space to either resign panarin or go for another star.
Guerin said the report is false. Whether or not you believe him is another story.
Either way I dont think there’s any way we snag kk, especially if hes turning down 16 a year.
The thing is with Kaprizov is, that, he’s basically the same player as Panarin. But, the reality is he’s an ease/west guy and the rangers need more north/south players.
But, do I think he will sign here? Maybe. But I still don’t see it happening
I can’t believe people think the answer for this team is to replace Panarin’s 11.6 cap hit with a 16 million cap hit for a guy that has been similar to, but less available than, Panarin.
