Not that we didn’t know that Darche was gonna try to use Montreal’s picks to trade up and pick Hagens, I just find it interesting that the Islanders now have made this publicly known.

Woulda been nice to have Hagens but you never know what the future brings. Still one of the best drafts in islander history
Gotta put it out there that the attempt was made so the kid doesn’t feel slighted. He may still be an Islander one day 🙏
He looks pretty disappointed it didn’t work out. Basically we potentially got very lucky that the guys who fell to us did. But bad process all around starting with the Dobson trade.
He did not look happy on draft night. This should make it easier for us to sign him in FA.

It was well known before this video came out the Darche was trying to move up in the draft and teams ahead of them decided not to trade. This isn’t new news.
