Lions vs. Bears | 2025 Week 2 Opponent Preview
This is another opponent preview with head coach Dan Campbell. In week two, Ben Johnson and the Chicago Bears are coming to Ford Field. You got a chance to watch the Bears on Monday night. What stuck out to you the most from that game? I just thought really both teams I thought, man, played fast, played aggressive, played very physical. Uh the Bears, man, showed up. They’re a talented team. Uh they’re well coached and they’re close. You know, they’re this close and they’re going to slug it out till the end. Let’s break down these Bears offensively in the first quarter. Caleb Williams is gonna find Roma Dunay tiptoeing on the sideline. He was the most targeted receiver that night. Only receiving touchdown of the game. What kind of threat is he for Williams this year? Yeah, he’s a he’s a big threat and uh he’s somebody we’re going to have to account for. I mean, they got a couple of guys. They got more and they’ve got Adun, but Adun, man, he can run. He’s long. He’s big. He’s physical. Uh he’ll block in the run game. But you can see here, man, he’s really good ball skills, uh, body control, and as you know, you watch you watch this guy. We let him out of the pocket. These are the type of things he can do when he’s most dangerous. Speaking of Williams out of the pocket, we’re going to see him scramble down to the one yard line in the fourth quarter Monday night. Where did you see Williams grow the most there in week one? As you can see right here, uh, this guy’s dangerous. You You give him any room uh to run. You don’t shut these gaps off, he will take it. And he’s a dangerous runner. We’ve already seen him throw on the run. This is a good look from behind. I mean, if there’s nobody to immediately throw to and you give him this, he’s gone. He’s gone. Like, we have to do a great job of bottling him up this week. We cannot let him out of the pocket. Montes sweat was wreaking havoc on the edge for Chicago Bears. Five tackles, two TFLs, a pass defended. He’s in year seven. How was he still able to wreak this much havoc for the Bears? He’s a good player. Look, he’s in his prime, you know, and what makes him such a good player is the fact that he can do it all. You just said it. I mean, he can play the run, he can set an edge, he can rush the passer, he can get, you know, he he can do everything you need him to do here. Um, and he’s he’s got a little speed off the edge. He’s just he’s a he’s a really good football player and he’s somebody we’ve had to account for now going on three years. We got our hands full, you know, but there again, I like our guys, man. I like our tackles. Bears Monday night, they were banged up in the secondary. So, in steps, Nan Wright, who was with Minnesota last year, only played in one game and he has that pick six. How do you account for not knowing who the big dogs are going to be in the secondary with a newcomer like Wright? Well, I mean, look, obviously the kids got some awareness. You know, that’s the bottom line. Here’s what I’d tell you. He’s got inside leverage and they’re bringing everything. They’re bringing it all right now. And so, he knows this ball has got to come out. So, if I get anything here, I’m driving it right now, which is a credit to him. So, he’s got awareness, he’s got ability, and he takes it all the way to the house. Those are the things we cannot have happen to us. Mhm. home opener is in Ford Field this Sunday. The ante has got to be upped a little bit with Ben Johnson coming back to Detroit. What kind of step can your your team take to bounce back and get a big win over an NFC North opponent? Yeah, I mean it it would be big, you know, to get a win first. Let’s get the first win of the season. Uh be the first division win uh at home, home opener, the whole thing. So, this will be big. We’re looking forward to being back home in front of our fans and getting our first win. All right. I appreciate it, coach. Thank you. All right. Thank you.

IF YALL LOSE IM UNSUBBING!
Loss number 2.
Home crowd will be electric.
This team is 37-12 in their last 49 games. For those jumping off the bandwagon after one (admittedly ugly) loss, sayonara and goodbye. Just don’t come back. For the rest of us…..LFG LIONS!!!!
If we when the battle in the trenches, theres a good chance we win. Pressure Caleb and we get the win. Our secondary need to stay composed and our d line needs to get pressures. We get that, we win.
I’m sick of hearing about Ben Johnson.
Go Lions!
Let’s get the first win! Long time fan, I believe in Dan and the team. 👍🏼
With the first pick of the 2026 draft, the Lion’s select….zero wins in 2025 playing like a JV high school team. Wolverines would smoke this team 28-3.
