Struggling Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe dealing with shoulder issue months after feeling ‘pop’

  1. Are you fucking serious? This organization has been screwing up Volpe, just running him out here instead of letting him heal.

  2. When someone struggles this much it feels like it’s always injury related. Sit him down and let him get right before they destroy his confidence further.

  3. I’ll never understand how an organization can simultaneously be so committed to “load management” and yet constantly be running injured players out there. How can those two things be true?

  4. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Willingly trotting an injured player out there and making him hurt the team and draw ire from Fans for what exactly? This team has destroyed this kids development

  5. Sounds like an excuse to bench him. His numbers were unaffected for a full month after the “pop,” and his power (ISO) hasn’t gone down at all

  6. I mean I’m sure he dealing with stuff… but sounds like more of a cover up for his full blown regression to not make the Yankees look like complete idiots for defending him

  7. Bro who is on our training staff? Why does this happen every single year!!? I remember when rizzo played with a concussion for like 5 months

  8. Either

1). This is fake and just a way to save face for his poor performance, or

2). This is insanity that they didn’t get him physical help.

Either way, this is organizational malpractice and everyone from the top down deserves to be fired.

  9. This team’s medical staff needs to be investigated by a court of law. They’re literally ruining every single player

  10. I believe the IL, in this case, is what the site Razzball refers to as the “Ineffective List”.

  11. Even if its not true, its an excuse to trot him out there next year as well as justify his performance this year. Or maybe they are using that so the fans lay off him so his confidence can be built up. Any of these scenarios still make the Yankees look terrible and negligent.

  12. Yeah, most could see this coming. It’s also probably why Sherman said Caballero was likely to be the postseason SS. The second I heard of this shoulder injury, what seems like 3-4 months ago, I figured they’d do this (either continue running an injured player into the ground or use it as an excuse so they aren’t “proven wrong” about Volpe).

  13. The whole “playing through injury” thing is such an outdated bullshit mentality. It doesn’t make you more of a “man” and often just hurts the rest of your team. It’s not being a team player. It’s selfish.

  14. And this is just a way to make excuses because he was perfectly fine till the boos and demands for him to be replaced. Whatever…I’m over this shady org.

  15. “Hey coach, I think I’m hurt which is leading me to suck ass and bring the team down with me” ” “What are you talking about? you should be fine. It won’t affect you, you are tough kid”

  16. This is so wrong of the organization to do. He’s a young player and instead of letting him take time to rest, they forced him to go out and play every night and to his own detriment. He obviously hasn’t been well but the version of Anthony that we’ve seen ever since he had that shoulder problem is not the version of him that we saw during his rookie and second season. Especially not as a defensive player. Don’t forget he’s was a gold glove as a 21 yo rookie. It was obvious something was up and it sucks because now the fans hate him because the organization did this to him.

  17. Just for the record I don’t really care to hear this as an excuse relative to his hitting, but he’s clearly lacking confidence in what already kind of was noodle arm in the field.

  18. How at this point has the union not filed a grievance against the Yankees for medical malpractice against their players. Like at this point this behavior consistently is borderline criminal

  19. Here comes the built in excuse to bring him back next year even though he’s always been terrible offensively

  20. This was the only dude in the lineup outside of Judge who played every day even though he had an injury. And we didn’t think of shutting him down for a while, even after getting infield bench depth? This is just like when Rizzo got concussed and they let him play for 2 months despite his huge drop in play. Boone needs to be fired obviously but whoever is in charge of our medical staff needs to go too

  21. I figured the excuse would come in October or some shit, not now.

Fucking figures. They’ll trot his ass out there next year and when he stinks again, they’ll have to make a trade at the deadline for another issue they’ve know about since the off-season

When is someone going to fire these assholes

  22. I think the PA needs to step in and force teams to be real about injuries and proper IL designations. How many times are guys put on the IL for phantom injuries or give them time off to give them a reset and then situations like this where a guy is legit hurt, playing like total ass and nothing being done about it

  23. Ah he’s been playing injured. So that’s why his offensive performance has been *checks notes* exactly the same as his previous seasons.
