[Lowe] On heaves rule change: “I hate it. I hate it. We’re letting these chickenshit players who won’t shoot heaves get off scot free. I liked exposing those players and lionizing the Currys, Jokics, JR Smiths, and Pritchards of the world who wanted to win the game. Boo NBA. Boo chicken players.”

  1. Never understood why there’s such a hesitancy to shoot end of quarter heaves to begin with. Teams already filter out that shit when they’re looking at player efficiency. The actual affect they have on FG% is so minimal it really does not matter. If heaves are actually affecting your ability to get a NBA contract you probably weren’t going to have a long NBA career to begin with.

  2. Agree.

I watched Kobe for longer than any other player so just gonna use him as an example here, but he obviously didn’t give af about his FG% and hucked end of quarter shots up all the time. Sometimes he didn’t care about the clock at all and just hucked regardless, but that’s not what we’re discussing here lol.

Watching LeBron now the last 7 years has been really annoying in that one specific aspect, he almost never goes for those shots. Or he’ll pretend to go for it and hoist it as soon as the buzzer goes off like “aww shucks, I wasn’t in time!”

Shoot that shit! Cowardly maneuver, fuck your percentages that shit’s for nerds anyway.

  3. NBA thrives off of negativity toward players so this just takes away another way to do it of course Zach is upset

  4. I mean doesn’t shooting percentage get written in as a contract bonus sometimes? It’s the teams who put value on it and who are forcing the players to be pedants about shooting percentage, not the players by themselves.

  5. Fucking weirdos 🤣 at the end of the day winning matters but players stats dictate their salaries, yall worried about these players money now. Its a good rule.

  6. You speaking as a fan. Imagine if your multimillion dollar pay check depended on your 3pt percentage. You’d be selective about shooting that mf too. Boo yourself.

  7. I’d honestly respect this take more from a Bill Simmons or Stephen A Smith than a guy who goes on every single podcast and says anyone who’s shooting less than 36% from 3 is basically unplayable in the playoffs or is a waste of time to guard out there without any context the way Zach Lowe does. He’s 100% a “give the percentages without context” guy, he just likes the idea of the heaves making Jokic and Curry (his two “guys” who he’ll dickride at any opportunity) look cool.

  8. Eh I don’t think it’s that big a deal. If I was in the league I wouldn’t want last second heaves fucking my stats up either. Not that serious y’all
