Steelers Sign Former Patriots DB Jabrill Peppers

The Pittsburgh Steelers are making a move at safety, signing former New England Patriots captain Jabril Peppers. A move that comes with some bad news, obviously. Uh Deshawn Elliott, who was hurt in week one against the New York Jets, is set to miss multiple weeks due to an MCL sprain. At first, it was believed it was some sort of dislocation. So, this is good news. I think I I don’t look at this as a season ending or near seasonason ending injury, but instead the Pittsburgh Steelers losing a key part to their defense, but with some positivity that he’s going to be back at some point this season. Jabril Peppers comes in here, a guy who started for the Patriots right up until this season. They didn’t have a place for him coming into the year. decided to move on, became the top free agent instantly the moment he hit the market, the moment everybody started talking about where he was going to end up and the Pittsburgh’s Steelers the second that Jabril Peppers or that Deshawn Elliot went down, excuse me, became the landing spot, the hot name for where Peppers can land. A former first round pick out of Michigan. The Steelers loved Jabril Peppers when he was coming out and was that physical could do everything defensive back that they were really really looking for. Um, now he’s here. He’s another one of those we’ll get him when he’s old and cheap guys for Mike Tomlin. What’s his impact immediately? Almost nothing. Juan Thornhill is going to come in here and be the starter to replace Deshawn Elliot. Chuck Clark’s going to be his backup. Expect a lot of Jaylen Ramsay playing safety just like he did in week one, but even more so now with Deshun Elliott out. And then Peppers is going to work his way in. He’s going to slowly start to build his role for the defense and for that safety position. I think week three, week four is when you start to see a lot of Jerrell Peppers out on the field for the Pittsburgh Steelers. But to start, I think he’s an inactive against the Seattle Seahawks and then maybe he gets a revenge shot right away against the Patriots in week three, which would be awesome to watch. Um, he’s a physical guy. He’s a guy that could play in the nickel. He’s a guy that could play safety. He’s a guy that could play special teams. He’s real, real good at tackling. Has some coverage skill issues, I would say, but nothing that the Steelers can’t work around. And to be honest, Deshawn wasn’t the coverage safety. He was the hard-hitting punch in the mouth type of guy, and that’s who they’re replacing here. It’s a good move. It’s a It’s a move that that gives the Steelers exactly what they lost in a lesser form, but a pretty good form at this point in the season. Uh big news for the Steelers. I’m headed to Mike Tomlin now. I’m sure he’s got plenty to say about it, but a move that uh is going to impact this team in the next couple of weeks and for the next couple of weeks as Deshawn Elliot heals.

  1. I think its because since we do have injuries at secondary it should help out the depth and hopefully jabril can help the secondary out. Welcome to the BurghπŸ–€βοΈ

  2. Dude our biggest problem the most crucial problem right now is Broderick Jones, we need to replace him he has had enough time to figure this out and he's just not cutting it. He got beat over and over the other day and I'm concerned that if Aaron Rodgers takes too many hits, one of those hits might injure him and then we're REALLY f***

  3. Absolute DAWGS on our defense, I’m so hyped with this pickup! Even when DeShon comes back, we got depth, and can get fancy on D! Hybrid LB/DB type dude. Super pumped!
