Mike Vrabel & Tedy Bruschi reminisce glory days in Patriots reunion | NFL Countdown

Braves Brew, you ready to do this? Let’s do it. Been waiting for you. Good to see you. Great to see you. Thank you. Let’s walk. Yep. Let’s do it. Come on. Remember, these hallways have changed a little bit. You were the smart one on the fields. You know, you had all the answers, all the adjustments. You became the coach. And you used to yell at me for having all the answers. Remember, I’d say stuff and then you’d be like, “That’s good. I needed them. You gave them to me.” I mean, so we all knew you were going to go into coaching. The the best story we could tell anybody is the first time I got here and I and you might have slipped in practice and Rob goes, “Hey Braves, oh man, we got to get better cleats.” I said, “Oh no, that’s not me. That’s Brute.” And the whole place erupted. It was like my first week to the team. Don’t snitch. Sold me out at like the first first meeting we had. So you I learned from that. I learned from that. When we first got here, these walls were empty. Bellich actually says you want to fill the walls with pictures when football start winning. These pictures here you can’t really take down. These are championship teams that got the job done. So talk about the banners. How do you Yeah. How do you integrate that? It’s an example and a blueprint of what it takes to win. We never sat in the front row. No, we were always in the back. We always We were like the guys on the Muppets. Always in the back. This is a different setting. I mean, we don’t have we don’t have a little cover up for our playbooks when we get the quizzes. Exactly. So, that’s got to be up on top here so I can see if they’re looking down at it. Yeah. Or they remember it. You never needed your your book over there. Oh, I’m sure I did. I did. I did always. Or the whispers where you were trying to tell your buddy. Who’s the second team offensive guard for the New York Jets? Yeah. All of those questions. Pete Kendall. Kevin. Man, you’re a strong personality though. I mean, you are strong. You come strong. You’re out there fighting in training camp. They see you as the voice. I mean, it’s going to take them a little bit of time. Do you understand that? To where I can I can come up the Braves and say, “Raves, I don’t think we should be running this coverage right here on third and 10 because uh it just doesn’t work out there.” Sure. You know, I mean, I think that there’s a side that is on the football field and that is trying to take advantage or make sure that I’m protecting the team and in our identity is is important and that I protect the identity in the way that we play. You remind me of Bill as a head coach, but not Bill Bichc. You remind me of Bill Parcels. I played for Bill my my rookie year. The way that he interacted with players. Bellich’s great. Oh, yeah. I mean, we we love him. But for me, Parcels had that extra personal aspect of it that reached you on a level that felt very important. And you say there’s a professional side and a personal side. Why do you feel it’s so important to reach them that way? Well, I think it’s just that that’s where they’re at. You got to kind of meet them where they’re at and then bring them along to where they need to get to. And I try to tell the team this, it’s okay for us to have different personalities. We have to have one singular mentality about how we operate on the football field, how you act off the field, what your personality is, whatever. I’m okay with that.

Tedy Bruschi goes back to Foxboro to visit his former teammate and close friend, New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel.

  1. Same ol sorry a** pats and their 1st round bust of a QB. Drake maye ain’t it, defense is still trash, and they look just about as good as they did the last 4 years.

  2. He has a lot of coaching work to do. The Patriots looked horrible in their debut. The defense was ok. However, Drake Maye is not ready for Prime Time. He threw softballs and floaters all day and he was weak and ambivalent.
