It’s also Pete Carol’s first uh Raiders game as head coach. That’s something to watch for. I mean, it’s absolutely pouring outside. So, are we really going to get to see the true Gino Smith air it out type plays? Because he can go for four touchdowns and he can also throw three interceptions. We know that about Gino Smith. He is erratic. It’s also Ashton Genty’s NFL debut and everybody talks about how he’s the biggest or like the biggest rookie of this class that’s not a quarterback. Well, I got big news. Like, I’m not impressed by Ashton Genty. What I saw during the preseason. I think he’s a great running back, but he didn’t do much with that offensive line in the little preseason snaps that he saw. And I said it before, I saw him at Penn State when they played Penn State in the college football playoff. He didn’t look that great. When you’re going up against not Boise State type teams, it’s a little different. It is a little different. And the last one, we got to watch out for Max Crosby, man. We have to watch out for Max Crosby. He is not lining up against Will Campbell. I saw Jordan Schultz tweet it. I can’t can’t remember if it was this morning or if it was yesterday, but he said, “Will Campbell’s playing? He’s going to line up against Max Crosby.” No, that’s wrong. Max Crosby lines up on the left side of the defense, meaning he is going up against the right tackles. So, it will be Max Crosby versus Morgan Moses probably 90% of the game. You will not see Will Campbell on Max Crosby. It will be Malcolm Counz on Will Campbell. So, Morgan Moses, good luck. You might have to double him. You might have to take Michael Wenu and put him with a double and then have Tayvon Henderson have that guy that comes in and block. It’s going to be a lot. Now, moving to the Patriots. Gonzo is not playing, guys. He is not playing, which is unfortunate. He’s still dealing with that hamstring injury. And these are your inactives for today’s game. Christian Gonzalez, Charles Woods, Kaden Wallace as the only uh guard. So, I don’t know what happens if uh someone gets hurt because you don’t really have much guard depth at all. Anthony Jennings as a healthy scratch. Unfortunate Chisum will not be making his debut. I was hoping he would, but I kind of expected he wouldn’t. Uh, I think that says Eric Gregory. I can’t read at all. And then Tommy Devito is your inactive, but it’s not really an inactive. Tommy Devito is your third string emergency quarterback. So, if any if Drake May gets hurt, knock on wood. Knock on wood. But he will be able to play if needed. If not, obviously, he is inactive. The second Patriots storyline. And I’ve talked about this a lot and it’s a Josh McDaniels revenge game. I think Josh McDaniels hates the Las Vegas Raiders. He was given the opportunity to be head coach and oh I like people talk about how he’s not a good head coach. His teams have sucked. The Raiders have sucked and he did not go into a good situation with that roster. It wasn’t that good. I mean Derek Carr was kind of washed at that point and they just fired him mid-season and kind of got rid of him. I think there’s a chip on his shoulder. He talked about it in his post and in the pressures, the media availability, how he’s like, I don’t think about it at all. I don’t think about it, not much. You know that he wants to come out and absolutely beat the living daylights out of him and show like, hey, I could still do this. And we know how good of an offensive coordinator he is. That’s why they brought him back for a third time. So, I think that he’s going to go out there and try to coach his best game because he wants to put it into the Raiders face that, uh, yeah, you fired me. Well, we’re going to we’re going to beat your ass. And the third one, there’s a lot of storylines for this one. Obviously, Mike Frabel in his first game as head coach of the Patriots. You have Robert Spelain and Kavon Chaan. You have Jacobe Myers playing their for those three guys playing their former team. But the one thing I want to look at is like Drake May going into his secondyear breakout. And a lot of people think like what’s his ceiling? Is he going to excel and go take that next level into becoming one of those top quarterbacks in the league? Obviously, it’s going to be raining today, so we might not be able to see him air the ball out. But if you’re going to pass it on that first play, we will know if it’s going to be a pass play. If you see Tayvon Henderson on that field on the first play of this ball game, then yeah, you’re going to know it’s probably going to be a screen pass or I could imagine right now you got Raandre Stevenson right here and Tayvon Henderson right here and one of them is going to catch the pass. And I think that’s what they’re going to see on the first play of the game. But I’d also love to see Stfont Digs, too. Those are your storylines for today’s game. And then we go to a super chat. The biggest problem with Drake May last year was the turnover problem. He was erratic, but I get it. He’s a rookie. And now when you’re bringing in Josh McDaniels, it’s very conservative plays. It’s very kind of all right, we’re not going to air it out as much as you think. We’re not going to go and just ball out kind of gambling. Also, this guy right here, don’t fumble the ball, Raandre. Last one, establish the run. Last year, Raandre Stevenson literally only averaged 3.9 yards per carry. The Patriots had no run game, so they could pred it was very predictable on what the offense was going to do, especially when you have Alex Vanpel as your offensive coordinator. But now you have Josh McDaniels back. We know Josh McDaniels loves doing the play action. If you can establish the run, especially with Henderson, if you can fake the handoff, and we saw it a bunch of times with your tight ends, he’s going to be wide open in the seam route, either Hunter Henry or Austin Hooper, one of those two guys, if you can establish a run, get play action going, or even RPOS’s, it will be successful. So, you have to get that run game started because if not, they’re just going to play pass every time. And no one got open. Kahan Booty, he was playing great in the first half. And the Raiders went into halftime and they said, “You know what? We’re going to stop that. We’re going to stop that. And I don’t think he had a catch in the second half. And no one else showed up. No one else. No. No. No one showed up. So Gonzo wouldn’t have helped at all. You’re not winning games scoring 10 points. You’re not You’re not winning games scoring 10 points. That That’s just plain and simple. It’s just not happening. All you do is focus on digs. Missed five big throws when like you scored 10 points, my guy. Henderson wasn’t doing much either. I mean, they’re they’re kind of just letting them in. It’s kind It’s just what it is. He laid the hammer and that was fourth down. Steven Black, the offensive line was fine. The offensive line had no problem, man. Like, I don’t know why you keep thinking why everybody thinks the offensive line played bad. Didn’t play bad at all. I do not have a problem with how the offensive line played. It was Drake May had all the time in the world to throw. He had like 3 seconds. 3 seconds to throw. That’s all you need. Four seconds to throw. No one got open. No one. And tight end Hunter Henry looked great. Why are we complaining about Hunter Henry safety? Yeah, that’s a problem. Cornerback without Christian Gonzalez. Yeah, that’s a problem. Carlton Davis was getting cooked all day long. He did make a great play. An edge, Harold Landry just had the most sacks he’s ever had in a single game. So, it it’s I know it’s overreaction time, but people were not open, vegan. If people were open, they would have not had uh 4 seconds to throw the ball. The ball would have been out quicker. Josh McDaniel’s offense literally is getting the ball out in three seconds or less. Come on, be smart. Yeah, Brady gave him the blueprint, but uh Drake May is not Tom Brady. There we go. Uh there we go. Cool. Yeah, that looks good. Cool. Doesn’t matter. We can do both. And then uh we’ll we’ll do that like we’ll start off with me talking then you can bring up the scoreboard. Then we’ll bring up the weigh-in kind of what was the first Let me see what the weigh-ins that uh the only problem that Will Campbell had today penalties. That’s it. penalties. That’s it. No, just kind of I have the five takeaways that we can go through and then the stat graphics. Yeah. And while I’m talking, if I’m talking about a certain player, you can always bring them up. I don’t know. baseball. I don’t know if he would have made that field goal. Should be a list five. No. Did he not just the run? You did not get anything. There was no type of play action that we saw. There was no type of any run plays, designed runs. Like I could look at right now like we saw a lot more of Arandre Stevenson than we saw of Trayvon Henderson. And the final RB tracker was 41 snaps for Raandre Stevenson, 24 for Trayvon. It’s going to take some time to get these guys involved. Trayvon Henderson’s a rookie, but Raandre, we did not run the ball much at all. Going to defense, there was just one guy who stood out to me. That’s it. No one else. No one else at all. And it’s Harold Landry. Five tackles, three for loss, four QB hits, and like two and a half sacks. He was unstoppable on the field. he was getting pressure to Gino Smith, but unfortunately the quarterbacks and the safeties, which we’ll get into, like the safety, the safeties have some problems. And the one big thing about the Patriots is they cut Jerrell Peppers literally last uh last Friday, not the Friday, but the Friday before. And that’s a huge huge problem for this team is the safety. I like what I saw from Craig Woodson and Jaylen Hawkins, but I need I need a solid captain safety like Jabril Peppers on the field. He would have made a difference because it felt like every single time on the field there was a guy wide open. And who was there kind of trailing him? It was Jaylen Hawkins or Craig Woodson. And that’s not what you want to see when you had a guy that could have was was a great player, Angel Peppers, and you just you it annoys the hell out of me that they cut him because there was no need. He could fit right on here on this roster. It wrael said it wasn’t scheme. So I really really really I I don’t know. It it just makes no sense to me and I just it was not a good game. 20-3 to the Raiders at home. The Raiders aren’t a good team. You will see next week with the Raiders. The offensive line looked good except Will Campbell has a little bit of he was getting the jitters. He had two false starts really bad. I didn’t see a lot of penalties on the offensive line. Not a lot of holding calls, but they held up. We did not see Max Crosby get really involved whatsoever. He did not have a lot of pressures. It was just no one was getting open. The offensive line held up. Jared Wilson had I think let up one sack. But overall, Drake May stood back there and he had a bunch of time to throw. There was just no one open on the field. So, that’s a plus. The bad part is you got to get receivers open to throw them. And people could say, “Oh, Drake May has to throw them open.” I mean, well, if they’re not getting open, Josh McDaniels has to start calling play calls where you got to get the ball out in two seconds. You got to do those slant routes. Pop Douglas, he did have a really, really bad drop in the first quarter. brought it back with a touchdown, but then we did not hear his name at all in the second half. Where was everybody in the second half? He only scored three points. That’s a big big problem. But I’ll give props to the offensive line. I’ll give props to Bull Campbell. He didn’t The only problem was that he let up a sack at the end of the game, but the game was already over at that point. Carlton Davis, he had an amazing play where he tipped up which led to an interception, but other than that, he was getting his ass cooked. There was one point at the end of the game where he had a chance and it was Dante Thornton absolutely burned him. Dante Thornton, Trey Tucker, Jacobe Myers looked incredible. I know it was a revenge game, but he looked really, really, really, really goddamn good. Carlton Davis looked really, really, really, really, really bad. And I maybe it was because he was the number one and Gonzo wasn’t there. But holy hell, man. If that’s going to be the Patriots secondary because Gonzo might be out for an extended period of time with his hamstring, it’s going to be bad. I like what I saw from Alex Austin. But overall, the wide receivers lit up the Patriots. Gino Smith went for two 360. He went for 360. Obviously, the secondary did not look good. Safeties look terrible. Jaylen Hawkins and Craig Woodson, they’re going to get better because they’re young, but you still need a veteran guy. And Jabril Peppers was right there. Offense, it’s just non-existent, man. You went four straight three and outs. It felt like there was nobody there. You hand the ball off. You get four yards. Then you have to go down to third and four. You throw the ball, check down, check down, check down, check down, check down. And the Josh McDaniels PTSD from 2021, 2022 came back to me or 2021, whatever it was. And before first down, screen, first down, screen, first down, screen. It was infuriating to watch. You got to call better plays, Josh. It’s 2025. You don’t have Tom Brady anymore. You don’t have Tom Brady anymore. I don’t know if it’s a offensive problem, a skill skill gap or if it’s just him, but there it was a major problem and the offense was non-existent in the second half. The Raiders with a good coach like Pete Carol made at halftime adjustments and absolutely locked down the Patriots offense. Drake May didn’t do anything and the wide receivers didn’t do anything. My last one, well, second to last one, Harold Landry, absolute dog. He I mean, what great signing by the Patriots to bring him over. had a careerhigh in sacks at two and a half. He was also getting all over the field. The only positive thing about that defense was Harold Landry and it feels like he’s going to be one of the top guys on the team. Kavon Chaan did well. We saw Christian Barour a couple of times. Didn’t really see Milton Williams much at all which I mean you paid him all that money. He’s got to look a lot better than that. It’s just overall bad game. My last one because it was a bad game and I think the Raiders are not good. I don’t think the Raiders are a good team. They’re in the AFC West. They’re not making the playoffs, man. They’re not making the playoffs. Are the Patriots a good team? Like, are they a bad team? I don’t know, man. Like, it was the vibes were high. You looked really good. We saw the joint practices with the Vikings. The offensive line looks suspect, but everybody else looked really, really well. We thought this defense was going to be a top 10 defense going in. Well, you just let Gino Smith and Trey Tucker, Dante Thornton light you up. Brock Powers got hurt. Brock Bowers didn’t see the field on the fourth quarter and Michael Mayer came in and lit you up. So obviously it wasn’t Brock Bowers. Well, obvious he’s a great player, but if your backup tight end who’s an average tight end is light you up, there’s a big problem. And I will say at least you’re not Miami. You are not Miami because they lost literally what was it 30-6. It was 33 to8. The Colts beat them 33 to8. So, at least you’re not Miami. But the Patriots, they might be a bad team and we might need to take our expectations from nine wins back down to like seven, maybe even six. Overreaction, but week one, this was kind of a must-win because you Raiders, Patriots, two teams that were really bad last year and kind of had to show themselves that they were going to be a better team in 2025. And I’m not going to say the Raiders look good, but the Patriots looked awful. So, I’ll ask you guys before we get on out of here. Are the Patriots a bad team? Give me a Y for yes. Give me an N for no. I don’t know yet. Give me two weeks. If the Patriots lose in Miami after that debacle that we saw for them against the Colts, then yeah, you might have to be reconsidering everything about this team and it’s going to be a long, long, long year. Going into the second half, completely different game because it was very predictable and Pete Carol and the Raiders, they made adjustments. They made adjustments. Campbell had a penalty problem. He was getting a lot of false starts, which was a problem. But overall, he didn’t really let up a lot of pressure. Lot of pressure. But Chicago’s not going to go Chicago’s not going to play be good either. I hope you know that. Chicago’s gonna suck. Like it’s going to be a very predictable type of uh type of season, but we are gonna sign on out of here. It is a rough day.
