Grabbed his left side after his last pitch.

From Tigers: Tarik Skubal exited tonight’s game after experiencing tightness in his left side and is currently under evaluation.

Stavenhagen:

Tarik Skubal is going to undergo more testing.

Here is some of what he said after the game about his left side injury:

Some tightness. Certain things happen during the game where you feel some things and they come and go with the game. This was one that didn't really go away, and that was what prompted me to call for A.J. and a trainer, obviously. Just wasn't very comfortable letting it go after that. This time of year, what we've got going forward, I didn't want to risk doing something that causes me to really miss some time.

I mean, I'm obviously going to be optimistic. I understand that I took myself out of a game, and that's the first time I've ever done that in my career. I understand that there's some sort of concern, right? But at the same time, I've seen our trainers, done a lot of physical stuff and nothing really jumps out at me. So in that aspect I'm optimistic about it. Obviously we'll get some more information and probably an image on it just to see what's there, kind of calm the brain down

TL;DR: Optimistic

  1. He grabbed his side. Thankfully not his elbow or shoulder. Granted your sides are important too. We’ll just keep our collective fingers crossed.

  2. I have to imagine Javi in the training room seeing Skubs walk in like “goddamn, you too?”

  3. “Tightness on left side” report as of 5 seconds ago. This is good news. Its oblique or possible lat. The important thing is its not structural.

  4. The update makes me feel a whole lot better about this. He MAY make one more regular season start but signs currently are that he will be okay for the playoffs

  5. O’s fan here but I was bummed to hear about Skub and I really hope it’s nothing serious 🙏🏻 So tired of seeing all our great pitchers dropping like flies every year.
