πŸ”΄LIVE SIM! St. Louis Cardinals vs Milwaukee Brewers – Sep 12, 2025 | Full Game MLB The Show 25

here in Milwaukee. MLB the show has action out of the NL Central. It’s the St. Louis Cardinals and the Milwaukee Brewers. And we’ll be back for the first pitch right after this. Your Milwaukee Brewers. Just about ready to roll here. Today’s starting pitcher, number 39. Well, what quickly stands out to me for this guy is that he comes in with a 3 to1 strikeout to walk ratio on the season. So when you consider consistency, the ability to get swings and misses and to limit base runners, that’s critical in winning games today, especially when teams are depending on the big swing, the home run to win ball games. And stepping in for the Cardinals, Lars Nbar. There’s the strike up high and we’re underway. [Applause] And it’s even up. Here’s a guy at the plate and I’m expecting to have a good game. Always seem to play better in road games. Next pitch way upstairs. Next offering is fouled back. fouls that off to the left and will do it again. He’s mixing his pitches really well late on that fast ball after seeing the change up. See if he can elevate one. I think if he does, he’ll get the swing and miss and it’s fouled off. They’ll do it again. Little early on that fast ball. I’m sure the pitcher taking a note. Look for an off speed pitch on this next one. Oh, he doesn’t get the call and the count’s full. Was good pitch there. Really had some run and finished a little up and in just on the edge. And that’s one of those if you swing at it, he had a broken bat as you jog back to the dugout. On its way to the corner and that’s a foul ball. Got him. He didn’t make it easy for him on the mound, but they still get the strike out. And now it’s Ivon Herrera. He’s a catcher by trade, but the DH here in this one. Line drive takes it in for the out. Here’s a Cardinals lineup now. Someone who makes things happen for them in part with his legs. Victor Scott. Well, Boo, there aren’t many guys who have a flare for the big moment like he does. I mean, batting over 400 with runners in scoring position. Are you kidding me? I know it’s not guaranteed or an automatic, but I hope we get to see him in a close late game situation with runners in scoring position and just see is he truly a machine or not. And there’s a foul ball. One and one. Two outs. Base is empty. That just misses. Now two balls in a strike. Back to back breaking pitches away. You get the feeling as a hitter that the pitcher is afraid of you, that he doesn’t want to challenge you. So I think the confidence level is raised right here. And that one popped in the air left field. Collins makes the grab and that’s the inning. It’s the Cardinals nothing and the Brewers coming to bat. You’re watching Major League Baseball on the show back here in Milwaukee and getting the start. Matthew Liberator. What do we need to know here? Well, coming into this game, hitters are batting under 250 against this starting pitcher. So, it just shows you how effective he’s been. He’s been able to move his pitches around, add and subtract, change up the look so that hitters don’t get too comfortable, and start squaring up the baseball. We’ll see what he’s got in this one. Bottom of the first up now for Milwaukee. Bryce Terra and that one lifted in the air center field. Scott Carrals it and there’s one down. Let’s take a look at the Brewers lineup. Batting second, a really important guy for them. Jackson Chorio and Boo. He’s a fun at bat to watch. I mean, definitely a threat whenever he’s got that bat in his hands. But for me, it’s it’s all about the mechanics. They’re so sound when he gets his foot down on time and starts his swing. So much consistency. at bat stays in the zone for a long time and he squares up the baseball a lot. Jackson Chorio in the box here lets that one go for a ball. Liberator, he’s become known as a guy that’s really tough to take deep and that is especially valuable today, Chris, when the ball’s going out of the ballpark so much. Ground ball left side, slinging it to first in time. It’s very important. And it’s all about run prevention, right? So, uh, when you have that, it’s a plus. But if you are going to give up the long ball, you want the bases to be empty. And that’s where control and command really comes into play for a guy like this. Christian Yelich the next to hit takes outside. The guy at the plate could recognize slider out of the hand. and didn’t stay in the tunnel very long in terms of depth and perception. He knew right away it was an offspe pitch. Swing and a tapper. Over to first. Inning over. Gone in order are the Brewers. Scoreless after one. New inning getting started. Here’s Contraras now singing. When the year’s over, he’ll have a new careerhigh for RBI’s in a season. Contras in his ninth season, 32 years old, and he was born in Venezuela. And the slider just misses. ball and that is cut on and miss. It’s two and two. Two and two is the count. fouled off and they’ll do it again. Here’s the 2-2 and downstairs stays alive. spoils a two- strike pitch and he’ll see another ripped to short. Lead off man retired here in the second. Here’s Nolan Gorman. A swing and a miss. And that’s strike one. 0 and one. Right through there for a strike. Swing and a miss. Struck him out and there’s two down. Well, that bat seemed to be over as soon as it started. Three pitch strikeout. You got to be better at the plate right there at least to foul something off. Extend that at bat. Now up for St. Louis. Thomas Sajay-Z. Slice to right and that’s just foul. No score here in the second. Just missed. That’s inside. And now it’s even up. Two and two into left center for a base hit. And that keeps the inning alive. Off the bat. It was headed for the gap all the way. And as a hitter, you love seeing those as you take your first couple of steps out of the box. You know you got some real estate to run on. And such a good feeling. Nice liner into the gap right there. Checks over to first back safely. And now Pedro Pes downed away for ball one. Two outs. Now this is in the air down the line. And that is that. No runs, one hit, no errors, and a man left. We go to the bottom of inning number two. We’re tied nothing. Nothing. Bottom of the second and now William Contrus. Liberator back to work. That one missed. That’s a ball. [Music] That misses the zone. And now two and0. That’s a really good take right there. Slider down and in. Very difficult to get on the same plane and do anything with that one. Fouled off. I wouldn’t throw him another breaking ball. Try to go again with the fast ball. Slightly elevated. He just having a hard time catching up. That one fouled off. Two and two. line drive base hit. So a runner aboard to start the inning. Showed a willingness to drive that pitch the opposite way. Didn’t get jumpy. Didn’t try to pull the ball. He let it get deep. Took the barrel right to it and then extended through the swing for the line drive base hit. S Freeland getting ready to hit. Line drive and it stays fair. Lead runner around second. Contrarus around third. The relay to the plate. Safe. And it’s one- nothing. Went up there looking to be aggressive and got something he could handle. They really turned on that one. And as it hooked down the line, it was hard to tell if it would stay fair, but he just barely sneaked in there. And Andrew Vaughn now and that drops in for a strike. The number three overall pick out of Cal for the White Socks in 2019. man at second. Hit on the ground to the right side. Contras gets it to first. That’s one out in the bottom of the second. That’s a good piece of hitting right there. It’s early, but you still want to move the runner up and give your team a chance to score. That’s exactly what happened. So, you better believe your teammates are happy with you after that at bat. Isaac Collins at the plate now. That’s ball one. Hit in the air left field. Burlson squeezes it. Runner tags for home. Here’s the throw to the plate, but it’s offline and they lead by two. There you go. Nice little RBI there. It’s a great at bat. Got the job done. Here is the rookie third baseman. It’s interesting. He plays kind of a a power spot defensively, but runs pretty well. So, when you’re looking at that position, you’re not expecting someone that has maybe above average speed, but he does. One and0. Hit hard on the ground to the right side and it goes just foul. right through there for a strike. And I think that skill set really upgrades the position because when you have that kind of speed, it makes the whole team that much better. And they’ll do it again. What about a playing another position on defense? One that would require a little more range. Absolutely. And I think if push came to shove where Oh, that’s a strike out. And that’ll do it for the unit. So they get a couple of runs on two hits, no errors and no one left on. We head on now to the top of the third. It’s the Brewers two and the Cardinals nothing. All set for the start of the inning. And now here’s a speed threat outfielder Victor Scott. Foul ball there. Well, after putting up a nice inning on offense, got some runs across. This is where you look for the starter to go out there, have a shutdown inning. Don’t give that other team any hope. You just hope that he can get through this inning, get the bats back up there while they’re hot. The wind of the pitch. Knocks that one away and we’ll do it again. got him swinging and Chris, that’s a way to neutralize his feed by keeping him off base and the defense breathes a sigh relief because he puts pressure on everyone if he can put the ball in play. But that’s how you do it. Keep him off balance, get him out of there and deal with the next guy. And first offering is fouled off. One out. Base is empty. [Music] Hit on the ground to short. Ortiz slings it across and a couple of quick outs. number 21. So two down now and here is Lars Nbar struck out swinging his first time. That one almost got him. Well, the offense has gotten going and a pitcher wants to go out there, have a real quick inning, get those guys back into the dugout so those bats can stay hot. pulled hard, but it’s a foul ball. The 1-1 is fouled off. Two down to off the mark there. Two and two. Really good take especially with two strikes. That’s foul off to the right side. Keeps the AB going. Two outs and misses inside right through there. Got him. He’s notched four strikeouts now. One, two, three go to Cardinals and they’re down two nothing. And welcome back to the ballpark. And here is Joseph Ortiz. Ortiz. And a base hit into right center field. So now back to the top of the order. Nevada back to the top of the Milwaukee order. This is Bryce Terra. Fly to center his first time. Fought off foul. And that’s a little bit high. And that’s ball one. Ortiz on at first. Nobody out. And that is out of play. That misses and it’s two and two. Out to center. Scott sizes this one up. No trouble here. Puts it away for the out. One down. The center fielder number 11. Now the number two hitter Jackson Chorio grounded out his first time. Pitch misses outside and that is ball one. Fast ball for a strike. Ground ball right side could be two FM for me to second throw to first but he beat it. Good fade and sinking action of that change up got that hitter to roll over. Now it’s Christian Yelich grounded out back to the pitcher his first time. That clips the zone and that is strike one. Swings through that. No balls. Two strikes. Battling here as he fouls it away. gets a piece and it stays 0 and two outside. See if he can go upstairs a little bit. Make sure you miss up and out of the zone since you’re heading the count one two. Don’t miss in the zone cuz that’s where you can get hurt. Next offering way upstairs, lifted in the air out to left. Burlson makes the grab and that is the third out of the inning. Milwaukee leaves one. They’re up two nothing. as we go to the top of the fourth. And now the DH Ivon Herrera. That one’s upstairs. Ball one. [Music] And another ball down. And that one is in for a strike. Good pitch. Swing and a miss. There’s that change up. He really sells the change up with that arm action. rips that one center field. Turio makes the grab. One away. Alec Burlson. Next up for the Cardinals. Fly to left. His first time outside with a breaking ball. Base is empty. One away. Top half of inning number four. Rips that one to right. Freelick makes the grab. Two down. Two down. Base is empty. Wilson Contrarus. Next up for the Cardinals. Fouled off left side. Next pitch. Not close up high. You want to be patient here. Try to work a walk if you can. You’ve got a big power bat behind you in the on deck circle and with two outs, one swing could put you right back in this ball game. That one way outside. Two and one. Swang and a ball lifted in the air. Tracks it down for the out. And that is that back here at American Family Field. Bottom four. And now here is William Contraras. And the first offering a fast ball for a strike. No balls, one strike. [Music] That one the other way. Fine fires over to first. Leadoff hitter retired in the fourth. The right fielder number 10. Now next for the Brewers, S Freelick. He doubled home a run in his first AB. Singing. You got to appreciate a guy who’s this good defensively. I mean, watching him track balls in the outfield, it is beautiful. And first off is fouled off. That one pushed foul out of play off to the left. So, how much does his speed factor into his ability to go get it? It’s heartbreaking for the hitter because off the bat he thinks this ball’s gonna get down because of that speed and the ability to make up so much ground. He enters the picture and breaks a guy’s heart. The change up missing. Now two and two. There’s one guy that I can think about who started as a third baseman, Alex Gordon, and then became an elite perennial gold glover out in left field for the Kansas City Royals. But he’s a guy when you watch him play, you would imagine that that’s all he ever played in his life was the outfield. Two outs, space is empty. Next for Milwaukee, Andrew Vaughn grounded out his first time. That catches the top part of the zone. It’s 0 and one. And a curve is down and in. One and one. And that one inside and it hit him. And stepping in is the speedy Isaac Collins. Drove in a run with a sack fly. His first time up. That one’s in there. 0 and one. Vaughn off of first with two away. Slider misses outside. The one-1 is fouled off. swing and a fly ball. Well struck left field. Scott pulls it down and that ends the inning. Brewers strand one, but they’re on top two nothing. Ready now for the fifth inning. And stepping in for the Cardinals, Nolan Gorman. Nolan Gorman and that one fouled off. You know, these cards just aren’t putting together very many good at bats in this one. Just one base runner to this point and it’s not exactly early anymore. They’ve got players in this lineup capable of sparking something, but it just hasn’t happened for him yet. And that’s way high and it’s two and one. Went with the sweeper, but it misses. Expect for that guy to come right at you with a fast ball, something in the zone because he does not want to allow the leadoff walk. in the air right field. Hauls it in for the out and there’s one down. Oh, I think the key I mean if he can get through one more inning. Anything after that, a hitter or two is bonus, but they should be lined up good enough to get to the finish line. Manager out of the dugout now and it looks like we’ll see a change on the mound. Number 39 gives way and that’s an excellent job from the reliever in the starting role today. Gave him some length. Back with a new arm after this. So the Brewers bring on a new pitcher from the pen. Brandon Woodruff. Big swing and miss stuff right here. Boo. Averaging more than one strike out per inning this season. So far he’s been pretty electric. And the batter will be the shortstop. Thomas Jay-Z one for one with a single. so far. And that one sliced foul. So Jay-Z goes 5′ 11 in 185 lbs and he was a fifthround pick in 2020. The shorts stop takes a ball. Action in the pen down there. Quinn Pester preparing to come on if needed. The Brewers leading by two and we’re in the top of the fifth swing and a pop off in foul ground. Two away now. Got the pitch that he wanted just a little bit quick. Front shoulder open. Backside collapsed a little bit and the launch angle not where he needed it to be. Pedro Pah next up for the Cardinals. Fly to right. his first time. There’s a high chopper. Terra over to first in time and that is the inning. Red Birds down quietly. They trail it here. Two nothing. And we’re back. And the batter now number 21 Liberator back to work. Way outside and it’s one and0. This to third. to first, but it pulls him off the bag. Number three, well, I definitely think the speed down the line played a factor on that throw. He had more time than he thought, but as a fielder, the speed of the game and the speed of the runner sometimes can get in your head. And he just rushed it and failed to make a clean throw. And now the shorts stop. Joseph Ortiz just off the inside edge. [Music] just missed Chris with that distraction and the speedy guy at first. He’s in a favorable hitter’s count. Well, if nothing else, I mean, this is a And now this one’s a rocket to right way back there. Gone. He made him pay for that one. And they tack on to their lead. It’s 4 nothing. already playing with the lead and now they’re celebrating a home run. They’re having a great time out there. [Music] Can be pretty dangerous when you fall behind in the count. 200. You still got to try to find a way to keep that hitter off balance. Well, he wasn’t able to do it there. The hitter did a nice job of turning that pitch around, not missing it in a hitter’s count. Here comes a manager out of the Cardinals dugout and he’ll make a move to the pan. Matthew Liberator is done and he’s not going to be happy with himself. New pitcher on the mound in a moment. Sunny Gray comes on now. Well, he struggled quite a bit. So, this is another opportunity to get on the right track. He’s given up more than one hit perenning pitch so far this season. Back to the top of the lineup. Bryce Terang digs in now. Just missed. Well, these Brewers putting together some really good at bats in this game. There’s been a lot to like with how they’re approaching their chances at the plate. It looked to me like they really wanted to get to the starter early, get him out of the game before he settles in. So, I’d say mission accomplished. Next pitch is downstairs. [Music] That clips a corner. With the big bats coming up and a home run already surrendered, he’s really going to have to execute against these next couple of batters. Next pitch is outside. 3-1. [Music] Swinging a ball hit out towards left center field. Takes it in for the outb now for Milwaukee. Jackson Chorio for two in this one. Fly ball down the line and that’s how to play a foul ball. The one a sliding stop. Nicely done for the Ow. Here comes Christian Yelich. There’s a strike. The one is outside and it’s a ball and a strike. Comes up empty. That’s strike two. Just threw that fast ball by him. Elevated. And if you’re not looking up in that location, very difficult to catch up to. Now that’s strike three and the third out. So we take a break. Two runs for Milwaukee on the dinger. It’s now a four nothing ball game. Back here in Milwaukee. Here’s a speed threat. Victor Scott. Bunting and it’s in the air. Hauls it in and there’s one away. Well, he gave the bunt a shot there but not able to execute. Yeah, I think he rushed it a little bit and when guys rush can be a popup or can be bunted right back at a position player. Swinging a foul straight back. That one’s in there. 0 and two now. The Cards down by four and we’re in the top half of the sixth. That one inside now. One and two. fights it off. He’ll see another. That wasn’t an easy pitch to hit. It’s much easier to do damage against mistakes, but that’s not what that pitch was. And that skips in the dirt. [Music] Out to short. Ortiz handles, throws to first. Two quick outs to open the top of the six. Good armside run and sink on that pitch right there. got inside on him and got him to bounce into that out. Back to the leadoff spot in the St. Louis lineup. And now the right fielder Lars Nbar who’s 0 for two with a pair of strikeouts. This one in the air. Vaughn on the move, makes the play and it’s out number three. Nothing doing for the offense that time. To the bottom of the six we go. 456 coming up. It’s the Brewers four and the Cardinals nothing. And welcome back to the ballpark. Bottom of the sixth inning and now it’s William Contrarus. That one outside one and0 action in the St. Louis bullpen. Ryan Fernandez, the young right-hander up and throwing. Number 49 also getting ready. [Music] There’s the strike here. And that’s ruled a swing. It’s a strikeout. Now it’s the right fielder Z Pip. We talk about guys with good speed and definitely he has it. But pushing the offensive side for just a second, Chris, it’s the defensive side that I think the speed factors in the most. Well, he gets to balls that get by most people at that position. Just really impressive because there’s certain times the ball comes off the bat, automatically that team that hit it thinks that they’ve got a base hit or they may have extra bases and he just takes it away on the ground right side and foul ball. The one two gets a piece there. We’ll do it again. Well, he’s desperately looking for that swing and miss. He’s going to have to just change speeds a little bit. Try to move it around. Create just a little bit of illusion at the end. The other way and that’s just foul. Also really good at bat. What I like about this guy, his bat stays in the zone for a long Oh, this pitch rides in too far. That got him. He had him one, two, and he ends up hitting him with a pitch. Next for the Brewers, Andrew Vaughn. He’s 0 for one. That one got close. Ball one. Freelip the base runner at first with one out. Highfly ball out to left field. Burlson settles under it, makes the grab, and there’s two gone. Just pulled off of it a little bit right there. That front shoulder coming open instead of staying closed. If he does that, he’s going to be able to go up the middle the other way with some authority instead of a fly out to left. So, up next, Isaac Collins. The kick and the pitch. Runner goes. That’s in for a strike. Throw to second save. That’s 20 stolen bases for him this season. Chris, his wheels were the difference maker on that play. Just got in there. Yeah, with Statcast’s help, we see his top speed on this stolen base. And that’s a big number. I mean, man, he really made his athleticism work for him on that one. And that misses one ball, one strike. Rudder at second. Two down. [Music] Two and one. And that is in for a strike. Two and two now. Fouled off. And they’ll do it again. [Music] Puts it in the air out towards left center. And that is that. Milwaukee leaves one, but they’re in front. Four nothing. We go to the top of the seventh and now Ivon Herrera. The Red Birds in striking distance but have some work to do. Boo. It starts with the laidoff man. I need a good at bat out of him right here. Headed towards the corner. Free flashes the leather on the run and catch up next. Alec Burlson. Next up for the Cardinals. Fast for a strike. Base is empty. One away in the top half of inning number seven. Next offer away off the plate. late on that fast ball. One and two is the count. Fouls it back with two strikes. Can’t connect on the curve ball struck him out. Well, obviously that was nowhere near the strike zone by the time it got to the plate. And people at home watching are thinking, “What’s he swinging at?” But I’ll tell you, some of the break guys snap off these days is just devastating. It can be so tough to recognize where a pitch like that’s going to end up. Contras up for the third time here. Watches that one miss. Next offering upstairs to the right side. He takes it himself to the bag and that’ll do it. Nothing doing there for St. Louis. They trail it here four nothing. [Music] We’re back in a new pitcher here to start the bottom of the seventh. Number 49. He last pitched two days ago. Here’s the third base. Newberry ripped to third and caught. That at bat is a positive sign even though it probably doesn’t feel like it. He hit the ball hard, but it doesn’t always work out in your favor. Sometimes a defender is there to make a play. At the plate, Joseph Ortiz can’t forget the two-run shot he launched out of here in the fifth. Yeah, one of the biggest swings of the game, Boo, as he looks to make even more of an impact in this at bat right here. First pitch doesn’t find the zone. Let’s go Milwaukee. One down. Base is empty. Now one and one. No need to offer at that pitch until you get to two strikes. It’s just a low percentage of success when you want to try to go after that down and away pitch. No, that missed. base knock center field and now the lineup turns over with one away. Well, that’s one of those knocks where you almost expect to get some jabs from your teammates when you get back to the dugout. He clearly didn’t catch that one on the big part of the bat. just kind of muscled it out there and you know on the mound it can be pretty frustrating for a pitcher but you just kind of have to expect those to drop in there sometimes. Now a chance for Bryce Terang in there at the knees for a strike. Keep it going. Next offering is down low. One and one. Just that miss. That’s a ball. Two balls. Man at first. One away. Runner on the go. on the ground to third fires across the diamond. No chance at the double play with the runner in motion. Brewers the center. Next for Milwaukee, Jackson Chorio. And that gets the inside corner for a strike. Ortiz stands at second with two gone. And that one fouled off. And that’s the inside edge. And it’s one and two. Man on second, two down. Fouls it off. Still one and two. Goes down swinging for the strikeout. Couldn’t hit the fast ball at the knees. Brewers strand one. They lead four nothing. Welcome back. And a new arm on the mound to start the eighth. Yoel Pumps. And he’s got a nice lead to work with so he should come in throwing strikes, attacking these hitters. Now up for St. Louis, Nolan Gorman. [Music] swing and a ground ball. Base hit right field and the leadoff man aboard. Wastes no time there. He kind of rolled over on this pitch a little bit, but he got enough behind it to shoot it through for a knock. And you’ll take that anytime you can get him to find a hole. So digging in, Thomas Sajay-Z one for two. And first offering is fouled off. Hyumps, a righty that throws with power. 30 years old now and he was born in the Dominican Republic. Nope. Activity in the bullpen for the Brewers. Rob Zastrris, a lefty looks to be getting himself ready. Prester the right-hander. loosening up as well. Ball to strike the pitch. Swing and a miss as he was out front that time. And that one ripped to left and it goes just foul. Good job to fight that one off. Well, the laid off man gets on. You want to minimize the threat by playing sound defense. Hopefully, the pitcher can get a ball on the ground and they can roll him up for two. Swing and a ball lifted in the air. Shallow right field and it gets into the seats. swing and a miss at 96 struck him out. One out. Here’s the catcher to hit Pedro Pah. Next offering pop foul off to the right. out of play. Just missed. So, a foul ball makes it one and two. The Cardinals down by four and we’re in the top of the eighth. Next pitch misses way outside. Strike three and that’s two in a row. Oh, interesting. He’s looking very comfortable out of the stretch after giving up the lead off single. Back-to-back strikeouts. So, they haven’t been able to move that runner up, get him into scoring position and try to have a better chance of scoring. I tell you, good job so far on the mound. He just needs one more out. Victor Scott next up for the Cardinals. Ball one, no strikes. He was late there. Strike one. Well, this looks like it’s going to be a wasted opportunity. It’s frustrating when you get the leadoff man on, but you can’t get him into scoring position. They’re going to need a big knock. Try to put something up on the board. He swings and fouls one off. Two outs. And that’s downstairs and outside. Now a fly ball to right center. He’s there. He’s got it. And that’ll do it. So, one left for the Cardinals. They’re on the short end of a four nothing score. Back now. New pitcher on the mound as we roll into the bottom of the eighth. Ryan Fernandez. Well, walks have certainly been an issue for him this season, so we’ll see what kind of command he has. 345 do up for the home team and now it’s Christian Yelich 0 for three in this one and a first pitch fast ball is in for a strike slashes this one and it could be trouble now he’ll turn for second and he greets the new arm from the bullpen with a double We also was hit hard, but how hard was it? Singy Stackcast is here with the answer. Yeah, Boog. It says the exit VLOO was 113 mph and it looked every bit of it, didn’t it? I mean, just an impressive swing of the bat and clearly he saw it out of the pitcher’s hand. No problem. Now it’s going to be William Contrus. can’t get to it as it drops into the corner. The run comes in to score from second and the lead is up to five. Well done. Drives in the run. Just a really nice job of turning on that pitch and smoking it down the line and there’s no one playing there. So once it drops in fair, you’re on your way to extra bases up now for Milwaukee. South Freelick on the ground and foul ball. And it’s fouled away. Next pitch inside and the count is one and two. O2 fast ball way out of the zone. I think he’s trying to speed him up. Got to stay back. Off speed’s probably coming. Man at second. Waves inside. Gets out of the way. line drive, makes the catch for the out. That swing right there tells me he’s seeing the ball pretty well. I know it didn’t produce a hit, but he made solid contact, and that’s all you’re looking to do anytime you’re at the plate. So, up next, Andrew Vaughn. Just that. That’s a ball. One out and a runner at second here in the bottom half of the eighth inning. That one misses. Two and0. Two and0. On the inside corner for a strike. And that’s through there for a strike. That’s off the mark. Full countdown. Contras the runner at second with one away. Swing and a miss for the strikeout. chase the fast ball up the ladder for strike three. Well, that high for seam fast become such a staple as a strikeout pitch over the years. And what’s so tough as a hitter is that you see it extremely well. The problem is the velocity at spin rate just happens to jump by you. You expand your zone. You don’t stay tall on the backside and you’re really not even able to make contact. If you do, many times it’s a popup. And a big swing and a miss. Wow. No fair right there. I mean, one and one. That slider didn’t move till the very last moment. Incredibly difficult to pick that up. Just kind of have to tip your cap on that pitch. Man on second, two down. There’s the strike. Fast is outside. Full count. Ah, ground ball and that’s through the infield. Coming home. Fires it to the plate. Save it home and the runner scores from second. It’s 6 nothing. Now the third baseman. And that hops in for a strike. Next offering pop foul off to the right. Out of play in the air left field. Burlson has a beat on it and the inning is over. They get two runs on three hits, no errors and one left. Ninth inning coming up. It’s the Brewer six and the Cardinals nothing. Back here in a blowout which gives us a chance to talk about just about anything. Bro, don’t get me fired. Singy, where do you stand on the wave? Well, the wave of star players in MLB or the wave around this ballpark. The wave around the ballpark. I think it’s a little outdated. I’m more of a thundersticks guy. And that’s not outdated. So, I can’t play around with him here. It’s a six-run lead at this point. Got to attack hitters even if you give up a solo shot. Delivers a pitch in for a strike at 95. Big bat right here. He did the team thing. Took until he got a strike. Now he’s got to go to work. Shorten up that swing a little bit. Do whatever it takes to get on base. Off the mark there. Two balls in a strike. Early 2000s Yankees Red Sox probably the best baseball rivalry that we’ve seen. Yeah. And I I would say, you know, that kind of simmered down and some other ones started to rise up a little bit and the great state of Texas, the Astros and the Rangers became a really good rivalry. Yeah, no doubt. And here’s the St. Louis leadoff man Lars Nbar [Music] Base is empty one away here in the top of the ninth. That one to first. He steps on the bag and they’re down to their last out. How about Herrera? Next is the designated hitter, Ivon Herrera. Swing and a ground ball up the middle. That’s a base hit. Joey gets on base and keeps it going. Well, clearly he was ready to hit right there. Smashed that one through the infield for the knock. When it’s hit that hard, it makes it very tough on the infielders to make any sort of play. Now the left fielder, Alec Burlson. And that’s downstairs. And that’s Paul one. Two outs and another ball. Tried to back door him with that slider right there, but just missed off the plate. Good pitch though. That one’s spoiled and the count now two and one. Here leads off first with two down to the inning. and a base hit. They stopped the lead runner at second. Now two on with two outs. Couple of singles back to back. I could watch base hits like that one all day long and so could every hitting coach in the league. Just a nice line drive into center field. Here comes Wilson Contreras. just missed. One out. Next pitch in for a strike. And the count one and one. Yeah, that’s fouled off. Hams is just one strike away. Oh, he gloves it from his knees. The throw and that is the ball game. What an exciting finish to this game and amazing play right there. It’s hard for the fans to go home. They want more. They’re not ready to leave and head to their cars, but an outstanding job to keep entertaining all the way to the end. 6 nothing is how this one ends for Chris Singleton and our entire crew here at MLB the show. Thanks for stopping by. I’m John Shami. Talk to you soon.
