Vikings Just Got A Triple Dose Of BAD NEWS On The Injury Report…
Yo, what’s going on Vikings fans? Welcome to the Vikings Now by Chat Sports. My name is Patrick Seatman and we got the final injury report for you guys and it’s not good news. Three key players on the Vikings roster are going to miss this game on top of Blake Cashman who was added to the IR yesterday and we broke that down. So, he’s going to miss the next four games. So, the Vikings caught the dream bug heading into this week 2 matchup versus the Atlanta Falcons. Can’t wait for it. It’s going to be a ton of fun. And also, by the way, we will be going live here on the channel an hour before kickoff. So, before we dive into the rest of today’s show, make sure you guys are subscribed. Tune in then. It’s going to be a ton of fun. Um, and we’re closing in here on 60,000 subs here on the channel, which is awesome stuff. But, if you guys have not already, hit that subscribe button today. So, the Vikings are going to be without three key starters on top of Blake Cashman. Now, the first one here being Jeff Okuda. Played a very limited action in week one. And obviously we know the Vikings run two corners on the field majority of the time, but he only played 16 snaps, so he will be with uh not in the lineup with a concussion. And it should be Dwight McGloin stepping in. UDFA from Arkansas was um on and off the team between the practice squad this past season. Ended up making the team. He impressed during the preseason, but this is also big time role to step into. Kevin Okonnell also did mention that they will probably elevate somebody from the practice squad. I wonder if that will be UDFA. Zayavon from Utah showed some flashes during the first two preseason games. Kind of struggled in the third one, but so Jeff Okuda, he didn’t look too good in the Bears game um as well. He had the 31.9 coverage grade, but played in very limited action, only 16 snaps, so it should be Dwight McLeather taking over that spot. But Christian Darasaw not going to be out there yet again this upcoming weekend, which is obviously disappointing. You know, it still would have been a very impressive comeback for him to return week two coming off that torn ACL and MCL from week eight of last season, but obviously we’re all excited to get CD back out there. One of the best left tackles in the league. So, we’ll again be Justin School stepping in at that left tackle spot. School was pretty horrible against the Chicago Bears. Just to be frank about it, he got beat on a couple of times for some key sacks early on in the game. He just didn’t look comfortable. But I will say when that whole offense was grooving in the fourth quarter, you didn’t really feel that, you know, miss of Christian Darasaw. Now, obviously once the offense is in rhythm, everybody’s feeling good, you know, you can kind of limit a huge hole in that offensive line, which it is right now with Darasaw not being out there, but he didn’t look too good, but hopefully back at home, you’re not going to be have to, you know, be dealing with the crowd noise. Hope get her jump off off the line. So hopefully school looks a little better. But Kristen Daras off Vikes are going to play it safe here, which I kind of agree with. You know, obviously it’s a long season. This team has, you know, deep playoff run aspirations and Christian Darasaw so important to this team. One of the best left tackles in the league. So, I’m not too upset with them just playing it safe here. You know, give him an extra week. Then you’re back at home next Sunday noon versus Cincinnati Bengals. He know uh he can get another week at practice. So, I don’t hate them just playing on the uh side of precaution here, but Justin School will step in. And now another big one. Uh Andrew Van Ginkle going to be out for this game with a concussion. Uh played through the concussion for the rest of that Bears game, but him and Jeff Okuda were in protocol all week and both of them will be missing. So Andrew Vaninkl not being in there. It’s Dallas Turner season. Dallas Turner finally has to step up. Now Turner I thought was pretty solid this past week against the Bears. I thought he was playing very good against the run. He was setting the edge well. A couple of uh key third and short situations. Um ended up only having two pressures. Didn’t get home to the quarterback. But what I did like is he was out there for at least 50% of the snaps. Now, we’ve talked about it this whole offseason. It’s going to be so tough for Brian Fores to get all three of those guys out there on the football field because Van Genko, he was fantastic against the Bears. He almost had another gink six. He had a couple of PBUs. He was causing havoc and obviously Grenards and every down player. So, it’s tough for Dallas to earn just to crack that starting 11 defensively. But now with Van Ginkle not being there, this is his chance. Sunday Night Football Vikings sent a boatload of draft picks to trade up for you. And this is your chance to prove yourself because, you know, even though we’re still all bought in, you know, on him being a potential franchise edge rusher for this organization, you got to see it. He showed flashes last year, only played in over 300 snaps, but he still remember that one sack he had against the Bears. Darnell right Darnell right completely schooled him. So hopefully we see some flashes and plus without Caleb McGary in the lineup for the Atlanta Falcons, their uh star left or right tackle out for the year, he should have a chance like he will be the better talent in that matchup. So go prove it. I got full faith in him though and honestly I’m excited to see it because if he gets going maybe this Van Genko concussion is a blessing in disguise cuz that gets DT going. We obviously know what Gernard’s all about. And then once those three are all out there, combine that up with Javon Hargrave and Jonathan Allen who also those two this past week combining for 13 pressures from the interior. Absolutely ridiculous. But that NASCAR package that the Vikings could have of a fiveman front. You don’t know who’s coming cuz Dallas Turner and Van Genko can drop back in the coverage. But that’s going to be the Vikings bread and butter this whole season. Third and long situations. You look up and it’s Grenard, Hargrave, Allen, Van Ginkle, Dallas Turner. All five could come, three could come, they could send the whole house on a play. Like, that’s what makes this defense so uh special. So, hopefully he gets going. And then, obviously, we know Blake Cashman not going to be there. He was put on short-term IR with that hamstring injury, which is probably the biggest blow, I think, to this team. Obviously, Christian Darasaw, a better player. Um, but still, I think the Vikings can manage without him in the lineup. But this Cashman injury is significant. Now, if we remember last year, Cashman missed a couple of games and this defense took a serious hit. Now, yes, this season the Vikings have more talent on that side of the football, you know, with Hargra and Allen, but he’s a guy that’s wearing that green dot. And, you know, Flores, he’s a sicko. He loves to show a look. The offense will adjust. And then it’s Blake Cashman making those final adjustments to give the offense that final look. And now with him not being there wearing the green dot, it’ll probably be Eric Wilson wearing it. They haven’t confirmed anything just yet, but I would assume they would go to Eric Wilson, the veteran, because we know what happened when Ivan Pace wore that green dot last year. He was not the same guy. And you know, I think with Blake Cashman not being in the lineup, that kind of reduces Ivan Pace’s impact because we know Ivan Pace, he’s a one-trick horse. He is fantastic at just being a typical blitzing linebacker. He’s great against the run, a physical player, but when you got to drop him in the coverage, we see him struggle. I mean, he is one of the worst coverage linebackers in the National Football League, but when he has Cashman right next to him, one of the better coverage linebackers, you can kind of mask that part of his game. So, I think this is the most significant loss for this game against the Atlanta Falcons, it’s just going to leave that middle of the field just a lot more susceptible. So, watch out for like Drake London really attacking it. You know, Kyle Pittz showed some flashes in week one. Who knows, you know, what’s going on there, if they’re going to utilize him, but also even just like Bejian Robinson coming out of the back field. Like now it’s going to probably be Eric Wilson manned up on him instead of a guy like Blake Cashman who, you know, nobody can go manto man with Bejon, but at least it’s a better matchup for the Vikings. I mean, we saw him last week. Bean had a 50-yard uh receiving touchdown. So, they’re going to utilize him a whole lot in the passing game. So, kind of gets me to this. In my preview video, I said I could see the Vikings putting on a show on Sunday night. You know, you finally started to see that offense click. Everything was going. The defense started to hum. And I think having the crowd noise this weekend and just being back at home, one of the best homefield advantages in the league should give the advantage to the Vikings. But also, if we’re calling it like it is, this is a prime trap game spot for Minnesota. You know, the whole fan base is expecting to win this game. A lot of the fans are expecting for this not even be a contest and the Vikings to handle them and win by two scores. But you got a lot of injuries. Van Genko, Cashman, Darasaw, all key starters for this team will be missing and you are coming off an emotional win on the road on a short week. JJ McCarthy just had a kid yesterday. So, there’s a lot working against this team. I still think the Vikings are going to come out um and get a victory on Sunday night, but I was originally thinking the Vikings going to roll. I thought the offense, you know, and I still think that is definitely on the table. I just think there could be a couple of quarters or, you know, maybe some long drives that don’t go in favor of the Vikings, but originally my score prediction was a blowout, 34 to 16. With these three injuries, definitely playing an impact. I still think the Vikings offense will have a good day. I I’m going to say they’re going to score the same they did last week. I’ll go 27, still 16. I still think the defense with the crowd noise with Brian Flores working against a secondyear quarterback, even though Michael Penn looked pretty damn good last week. I just still think this defense, you know, is extremely special. So, I’ll go 2716. I just don’t think the Vikings would be as productive offensively as I thought they were. I was assuming Darasol would be back. But, hey, get Jordan Mason the football, run that rock, get the play action going, and let’s get TJ Hawinson and Justin Jefferson going a little more uh earlier on into the game instead of waiting. And hopefully McCarthy gets settled in. Super excited for this game, but we will be going live here on the channel an hour before kickoff. So, make sure you guys hit that subscribe button, tune in then. It’s going to be a ton of fun. Still think the Vikes are going to come out on top, but this could be a potential trap game. Uh, Falcons, well coached team. They got a lot of juice around that rookie uh secondyear quarterback and they got a lot of talent offensively. There’s no doubt about that. Like Drake London, Bejan, Darnell Mooney is going to be playing. Uh, so they got a lot of weapons over there, but I think the Vikings defense will be the story of this one. So, make sure you guys hit that subscribe button on your way out. Appreciate everybody for tuning in and we will see you guys next time. As always, skull bikes. [Music]

if this doesn’t tell kwesi to sign or trade for a corner i don’t know what will
We need more players at the cornerback room. I feel like we really should trade for Greg Newsome

I want to know the real reason Darrisaw isn’t playing. If it’s bc he just doesn’t trust it fully yet, ok. But he’s been cleared, and has practiced all training camp…
As long as the early season injuries are happening sooner than later. When it matters, hopefully all are 100% healthy. It’s a long season.
Let's go Vikings! SKOL!!!🙌🏻💜
I think this game is going to be a loss. Too many game changers are out due to injuries unfortunately..
Skule starting again is no bueno 👎
But I am excited to see more of McGlothern and Turner
Y
Really need Turner to show up this week.
How is Kelly's toe doing?
Adversity’s is a great character builder. You always have to plan for players missing games. Great opportunity for the backups.
SKOL! 🏈💜💛
When I tore my acl it was 9 months before I had full motion , the fact that he’s even in pads already is quite a feat… ACL is longer than 9 months….
This is Dallas Turner's opportunity to shine his way as a major force on the front 7 of the defensive side 💪 👏 🙌 👌 👍 😎 ❤🎉😂😮😅😊. I agree with your assessment, Patrick, as the Vikings' defense is going to be extremely scary.😮
I think our depth will get us through. I would start Rouse on the left the guy is a beast with a strong anchor
A bit but luckily it’s early so now’s when we can handle these I guess
Not so worried,,,I like that the Vikings can come back late in the game 💜SKOL
Injuries suck but I like the idea of other players improving while getting some field time in the trenches. The more depth at different positions, the better.
Y
Love mccluthern let's go
NO we are going to be alright and vikings is going to win This game vikings wins 38'21
NO
Should have put Darisaw on I.R.for four weeks.Could have had another player on the roster!!
Pray that these guy can get healthy, number 43 one of the DE in the league. SKOL for those guys. Get healthy
So you are assuming that your defense is going to disrupt the offense but you didn’t assume that JJ McCarthy is gonna throw another pick six and be rattle from quarter 1 to quarter four. The falcons is not gonna make the same mistakes like Chicago did 📈
