Prospect Showdown: Sens Take Down Leafs 4-3
It was those who’ you expect for the sends to find offense in this one to come away with the victory in game one of the prospect showdown from the Bell Center. Carter Yakamchuk with two goals including the winner in the third period making it 4-2 at the time. Jackson Parson standing strong in goal as well to seal a 4-3 victory over the Maple Leafs from Montreal. Well, it’s always nice to win first of all because we uh we’ve had some tough luck at these rookie tournaments. So to get off on the right foot is very nice and um to get playing real meaningful hockey against not your peers is is great. Ah he’s nasty. I mean it’s it’s something to expect now with this guy but yeah his game speaks for himself. First one lucky balance there fortunate and then Harley made a great uh slip pass me there. So couldn’t couldn’t miss that one. I thought it was a good first game for everyone. I mean knocking off some summer us but yeah I thought overall uh we played pretty well. So it was it was a good win. The top line of Steven Halliday, Tyler Buchet, and Jameson Reese also putting up a strong performance in Montreal on Saturday afternoon. And not to be discounted, Xavier Borggo coming up with another strong performance for himself. Healthy and ready to work going into camp this year. I think we follow like the game plan. Uh, keep it simple. I mean, like I said, it’s been a while since we played a game, but we keep it simple. Uh, guys were working hard, and I think that was the key success today. Yeah, for sure. It wasn’t my first rookie tournament, so I think I’ve got some experience. Uh maybe I wasn’t the most stressful guy out there before the game, so I was just there to tell the young guys and I think I was pretty like calm on the ice making plays, having poise, and I think that comes with the experience uh becoming like a a pro players in the American League. He’s been really good since the start of camp. I think uh he put a lot of work in this summer. Uh he’s finally healthy. He’s stronger and uh he’s had I guess this is day three maybe of camp and he’s probably been uh the best player at camp for for this group so far. He’s been really strong this year. And both Kyrie Akamchuck and Thomas Hamara doing a good job defensively as a unit in this one creating in the offensive zone and getting some praise from David Bell. Well, they’re pretty slick. they can move the puck and those goals like um that second goal is almost it was it was you don’t see that too often that composure and patience but uh no they both extremely well like you know they can move the puck they can move their feet they see the ice and um it was really nice to watch overall a good start to the tournament for the Sens 1 and0 so far they look to go 2 and 0 on Sunday evening against the Winnipeg Jets tomorrow night for Sense 360 I’m Jackson
