FULL COMEBACK: The Brewers are HEADED TO OCTOBER and they’re celebrating with a walk-off WIN! ๐ง๐ฅ
One of the young arms that the Cardinals are getting the look of here is Riley O’Brien. I’m going to try to shut things down. Caleb Durban, Andrew Monisterio, South Freelick scheduled batters here in the bottom of the ninth. Well, O’Brien’s been really a really nice find for these Cardinals. The numbers speak for themselves. He’s got a really good curveball and slider sinker, curveball, slider, big tall guy. in here to close this try and close this game out for the Cardinals. He gets 97 on the radar gun. Paints the corner against Caleb Durban. St. Louis getting an insurance run in the top half of the ninth. [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] Oh, plunk Durban puts him aboard. [Music] [Applause] Not ideal when you’re trying to close out a game. Hit the first Hit the first guy. Ow. [Applause] Andrew Monisterio now 98 built high for strike one. Split times split time between Triple A and the major league level Monasterial. But in 58 games, 283 at the major league level, South S. Freelick waiting on deck. About to turn the lineup over again. We’re going to have another chance to have the big guns possibly come up. A chance to tie this game. Boy, the Brewers would love to have a celebration for clinching with a win to punctuate it. Ball on two strikes to Monastery. There’s no better feeling, Alex, than when you celebrate as your team, as a team winning a division, getting to the postseason. That is the ultimate for a player with your buddies, the people you spend more time with than your family. When you accomplish something, it’s only the beginning, but it’s the start of a journey. [Applause] The ball’s two strikes here. Mysterio lays off. So many great stories on this rule team. Kim Pster on the left. He’s come out of nowhere to become a dominant starter. He’ll be the next man to step up for the payoff to Monasterio. And he pops this one up. Foul. Christian Yell healthy and ready to make his mark in the postseason. [Applause] O’Brien takes a peek at first and comes home with a payoff. And that hit Monasterial. [Applause] However, he can get the tying run to the play. It doesn’t feel good for Monasterio. Think he got kind of the hand wrist area. [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] But guess what? The Brewers had the tying run at the plate again. Remarkable. What’ you say last inning a Brewers rally? All four runs. Yep. Out on out. Well, two hit by pitch and all of a sudden they’re one swing away from tying this game. free liquid back after this conference is broken up. Still nobody out [Applause] and the Brewers reach win number 91. What will that champagne taste like at the clubhouse? Freelick representing the time run takes a strike. [Music] He sacrificed one home and scored twice. [Applause] Freick a base hit into the gap. During around third, he will score and the Brewers are within two. An RBI double for Freelick in the ninth and it’s 75. Well, the tying run came to the plate and now the tying run is on second base. Now Fre gets the ball up out over the plate and releases it. Nice job by Victor Scott to cut this ball off. The only thing was by him sliding and going away, it allowed Freick to get to second base. And now the tying run is in scoring position. Jackson Shurio represents the winning one. First pitch upstairs. Ball one. [Music] [Applause] And Riley O’Brien wiggle his way out of this behind. Two and0. One and one, I beg you, pardon, on the count. High strike ball. Now a ball on two strikes as Jurio fells one off. [Applause] [Applause] This is Brewers baseball. They trailed in this game. Six to one. [Music] Tying run in scoring position. Cheurio stopped by a diving Donovan. He won’t be able to throw out Cheurio and run will score. Milwaukee is within one. A great play by Donovan to keep the tying run from scoring by knocking it down. He had no chance. But we’re going to get a pitching change. The Dolly Marvel is running out of options here to try to close this game out. A ninth inning rally from the Brewers. Still nobody out. Riley O’Brien unable to record an out. Kyle Ley into the game for St. Louis. Milwaukee. Six runs and they’ve done it the small ball way. Can they polish off a comeback? They got the right guys up. They got the heart of their order up. [Applause] Brewers trailed by three entering the ninth. Bryce Tang the batter. Winning run at first. You got to put this ball in play. Listen, worst case scenario is is terang you didn’t do a double play. Fine, you tie the game, which is the best case right now other than a strike out for the for the Cardinals or a popup. This ball’s got to be put in place somehow someway. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] Fly ball from Terang. Shell left. Lawrence Newborn coming in. They’re going to bluff Freelick from third. Throw hits the cut off man. Not deep enough from Teran. No, you can’t go there with nobody out. Got to get you got to have you got to give William Contreras a shot here. He’s a cleanup hitter. First and third, one out. twice. He’s hit it deep enough to sacrifice a run home. [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] Kyle Ley finally getting an out for St. Louis here in the ninth. his 57th appearance of the season. [Music] He got put he got thrown in this game in the fire. First and third, nobody out. Up a run. Bottom of the ninth. Crowd going crazy. [Applause] [Music] Two and 0. Trying run 90 ft away. Sal Felic standing at third. Contrarus taps this one up the third baseline. Freelick will score and the game is tied. Milwaukee comes back with three in the ninth. and a team that will not quit 77 [Applause] with no home runs. This is exactly how you would think the Brewers would tie this game up. 75 footer just hit the perfect spot. Now it’s a whole new ball game with pushy yellow at the plate and a winning run in scoring position. Heat. [Applause] Heat. [Applause] Y homered yesterday, a home run that Pat Murphy told us earlier today was a huge weight off his shoulders dealing with a flare up of the back issues that have bothered him. Can he be the hero tonight? two and two. One of the hardest things to do in sports, especially baseball, game on the line, the crowd’s chanting your name. Try not to do too much. Slow the game down. Do what you do best. Cold. Strike three down the middle at 96. [Music] just right down the middle. He’s looking for a curveball. He’d seen a couple of them already in this bat. They just throw a fast ball right down the middle and Christian Yella just wasn’t ready for it. Now Isaac Collins is 0 for four tonight. [Applause] Look to clip the zone. Miss Conroy not giving Kyle Ley the call. Brewers have 10 walk-off wins this season, one shy of the most in baseball. to right field in the air and catchable for Church. The Prews with three in the ninth. On a day where they clinch a playoff spot, push this game to extras. Jake Bowers at the plate. Milwaukee has already come back in a big way here tonight. They trailed in this game six to one. They trailed in the ninth seven to four. Blake Perkins the automatic runner at second. He represents the tying run. Jake Bower has been swinging a hot bat lately. Collecting another hit here tonight. checks his swing. [Applause] Two balls in a strike. [Applause] Bowers chopper first base side. Contras off the bag to field and flip to the covering lady and Perkins moves up 90 ft. [Music] Good productive out by Bowowers. Get the runner third. Less than two outs. You’re going to miss. You got to miss to the right side. And now it’s up to Caleb Durban to drive him in. Tie this game again. [Applause] Infield and check swing foul. Milwaukee Brewers top five team when it comes to their record in one-run games. 26 and 18 this season. They have 10 walk-off wins this season. Line drive into the gap. Base hits and this game is tied. Caleb Durban comes up with the goods and it’s 88 in the 10th. [Applause] Really, really nice swing here by Caleb Durban. Quicks sweeper, stays right on it, barrels into the left center field gap. Looking for some up that he could get over the drawn in infield and he does it. Now he’s in scoring position as the winning. Monasterial swinging at the first pitch. Pops it into foul ground. It will reach the seats. [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] 0 and two the monasterial. Wonderful story. 27 years of age out of Venezuela, nine seasons in the minor leagues. He’s paid his dues and has become an important bench piece for this Brewers team. 02 Monasterio stays alive. Milwaukee looking for win number 91. Another foul. [Music] [Applause] Scored those eight runs without hitting a single home. A lot of productive outs, Alex. Now, the Cardinals have gifted him a couple with hit by pitches and walks and they’ve come around to score. But it’s been an entertaining game. It’s not the best. Probably the most well played game I’ve ever watched, but it’s entertaining. The Brewers will not quit. [Applause] Boy, if ever there is a game that represents Brewers baseball, this is it. [Applause] Part of why they have the best record in baseball. One, two. Monisterial takes loan away. We keep mentioning this, but I’m going to bring it up again even though we’re here in extra innings. These at bats matter because when it comes to making a roster for the postseason, hey, can we get Monisteria to play defense and get a big hit for us in a big situation? Oh, he’s put together a good at bat here for sure. [Applause] [Applause] Lady looks back. Hannah Durban winning run at second base. [Applause] Ninth pitch of the bat and Monisterio spoils another. [Applause] Monastery up the middle. Base hits. Here comes D around third. The throw home. Not in time. And the girls on a day when they clinch can celebrate properly from down six to one. Three in the ninth to tie. Two in the 10th to win it. What an at bat by Andrew Master. What an foul. Fouling off pitch after pitch. Finally gets a pitch he can do some with. Rips it into center field. This is how you want to celebrate a postseason go. Another loss. You get to go in there in front of your home crowd. Walk off winner. What a game. The Brewers and their never say die attitude. claim their 11th walk-off victory of the season. Maybe Pat Murphy can track a smile at the clubhouse later. No, still no smiling. You can’t smile after this one. I don’t know what you got to do, Murphy. What an at bat by Monasterio. Heater down. Shoots it into right center. Victor Scott does everything he can under his power. Tries to get it in quickly. So with Durban on second, he scores easily. What a comeback. And like you said, this is the perfect example of what this Milwaukee team does. won’t come back. The Milwaukee Brewers come down by five, down by three in the ninth and down by a run in the 10th. They post their 36 comeback victory. And on a day where they punched their ticket and punctuate the night with a victory. [Music] What a comeback. What drama in extra innings. Ken Rosenthal downstairs with Andrew Monister. Thanks, Alex. Andrew, that at bat, that was a difficult at bat. What was going through your mind as it went on? So, to be honest, I just trying to be on base, you know? So like be a hero is secondary. But my goal was like so my goal was to be on base just like uh give the chance to my team to win. So like that’s awesome, you know, a walk up here, you know, always is awesome. Something you dream when you are a kid. So it’s better in front. So thank you for the support. Andrew, you guys have played a lot of games like this when you were down 6-1, when you were down 74 in the ninth. What did you think? What Murphy said, we play by outs, you know? So like we play out by out, inning by inning. So I think that’s our goal. Um, trying to be better every day, trying to get the chance my the team to win. I don’t I don’t try to be a hero. I just want to win and like that’s all. If you had lost this game, even though you had clinched, would it have not been as good a celebration? Yeah, it’s better with a win for sure. 100%. And congratulations. Thank you, Alex. Back to you. What a game. 98 the final in 10. Andrew Monasterio providing the final heroics. The Milwaukee Brewers with their 91st victory of the season. The best team in baseball rolls on and they’ll be rolling on into October.
