Pirates vs. Nationals Game Highlights (9/13/25) | MLB Highlights
The nationals and the Pirates getting ready for game two of this three game series and on the mound for the Pirates their top pitching prospect. He was their number one prospect overall coming into the year. Boba Chandler just turned 23 on September the fourth. This will be his fifth big league appearance and his second start. Two and one so far. Andrew Alvarez making his third career big league start. 1860 a fantastic 0.93 whip walks have been more of the issue than the hits right when you look at that underway, Jared Triolo who hits in last night’s game. The Pirates are four for nine with runners in scoring position. Hot shot one hopper well played soft hands there by CJ Abrams. Tommy Pham. A rare total night off last night swing of a line drive one up again. Abrams back hands plenty of time to plant and throw across to get a jogging F as bell handles the throw two up and two down. Here’s Brian Reynolds at 242. He bat right handed against the lefty ryan reynolds up their first pitch swinger that is wood , couple of ground balls and a fly ball to left and that ends a quick 123 inning for left hander , andrew Alvarez. Bubba Chandler. I’m sure Bubba’s been looking forward to today for some time. Rare to see, I’m sure in his lifetime he’s never really been hit like he did his last time out. CJ. Abrams will lead it off for Washington here in the home half of the first innings this first pitch and Chandler is there one pitch one out that’s Nick Yorke last night, James Wood. Third time up double number 36 on the and another ground ball to nick Yorke 231 putouts and former pirate, josh Bell to center field Canario into right center 123 for Bubba Chandler. Nothing, nothing after one, nick Gonzalez will lead off the cleanup hitter for the Pirates who went out on seven pitches, 123 against Andrew Alvarez in the first. How about this right there, josh couldn’t hang on. Don’t know what CJ Abrams was doing in that. I don’t know if he’s trying to give him a long hop or if he was trying to throw that ball all the way, but he just looked like he didn’t set his feet. He threw it over there trying to make a long hop and ended up being an in between hop. Don’t throw one. It’s going to be in between Andrew Mccutchen is the batter. Now the pitch swing and a miss by Mccutchen, he’s down on strikes. That’s the first strikeout of the day for left hander Andrew Alvarez. Now one out, one on for Alexander Canario playing center field today. Fair and it will an infield hit runners at 1st and 2nd. A couple of breaks early for the Pittsburgh Pirates. Here, Henry Davis zero for three last night out to short Abrams the way to get the force play on Canario and that will end the inning on the mound. This is his second big league start Chandler a 123 1st on 11 pitches. Chandler will turn by the way 23 tomorrow. What a birthday present a swing and a miss struck him out 101 above the zone. Alfaro strikes out and a good look at the 22 year olds arm right there. Six up, six down so far for Bubba Chandler. Dylan Cruz hit that, go ahead two run homer yesterday swing and a miss struck him out. Kept going to the heat and that’s the second strikeout for Chandler. I mean, there are going to be some hitters that have no answers for that high fastball. I mean, these pitches, you know , so much as Bubba Chandler struggled. Well, it’s how bubble Chandler pitches. That’s how he pitches. Chandler has been very good. He’s got two quick outs, eight up and eight down for Bubba Chandler and seven pitches perfect through three. It’s nothing, nothing two down for Canario on a full swing, hit a ball up third and one of the Pirates two hits. The other one was a, that’s a swing and a miss and a ball back to the screen and no chance for alfaro as it got back there and Then deadened. And I’m really surprised he bothered to throw that one for Josh Bell. That thing in the right corner. What a great job right here by Josh Bell. My goodness, the slider or the Barry, the curveball right there in the shoulder. He has nowhere to go. You have, people are going to be like, how does he not block that? I mean, it’s at his head on that bounce. So strike out on the wild pitch puts Canario on and extends the inning for nick York, the kick, the pitch. So a ground ball roll to CJ Abrams at short underhand, toss to Garcia at first, the inning is over. So Abrams handles three chances in the inning. A line out of pop up in a ground out. And in essence, Alvarez gets four outs with a strikeout wild pitch, but Chandler retires the side in order the first time through on 30 pitches. Second. Look now for the nationals struck out 101 on the inner edge. Bubba Chandler strikes out the side in the fourth. Can’t do it like Chandler’s doing it. You can Alvarez on some kind of roll right now. The ball is not going anywhere for either offense. Number five for Alvarez, 12 up and 12 down for Bubba Chandler back to the mound here for the bottom of the fifth scoreless games. Athlete that Chandler is and guns it to first. I mean, Bubba Chandler is as good an athlete on the mound as there is and makes that look easy. He made it look way two outs for alfaro strikes out his sixth batter and well, you might want to make some phone calls. Bubba Chandler perfect through five no score. He faces Dylan Cruz bottom six, 789 for the Nats looking for something. Have their first base hit. There goes the perfect game and the no hitter, Bubba Chandler, he knew it right there. De La Cruz on your bobblehead day, let’s end it. Fastball are trying to go away and that’s where they got up early was middle away leaks in. He sees it. Let’s go, boys. Let’s get him running this ball lifted to right by Brady House and it will send Reynolds back toward the track. What a great job by Dylan. Stay productive out. He made that in too. What? Heads up play by Dylan Cruz on this ryan Reynolds kind of fighting the sun making sure he has him. He’s backpedaling. Watch as he gets in the slow down. Dillon goes right back and there a liner and gets into scoring position that’s using your eyes. Keep your head up, understanding what you have. We’ll see if the nationals can cash in hassle. A 1 to 0 count. Robert crowded out to the first baseman Dylan Cruz is running and the ball goes right in front of him. He will score easily in the left field. The cruising to a 16 inning lead Abrams retired Hassell to third. Here’s James Wood swing struck him out and Chandler run on two hits through six innings today, registering his seventh strikeout. Get some guys on that can steal. Here’s the pitch and ball four. He’s allowed 10 steals and none have been caught with him on the mound is too high with a fastball ball four. So now the Pirates have runners 1st and 2nd 1 out does set up a double play possibility. Reynolds one for three today. He has singled and bounced into a double play off the pitcher and this will load the bases, a base hit for Reynolds. Here’s Mccutchen great opportunity to drive in multiple into right field and gets down and this will be a two run single for andrew Mccutchen Pirates take a 2 to 1 lead on a gigantic two out opposite field by the veteran andrew Mccutchen bases loaded two outs, two in Rutledge is the third different nationals reliever to try to get a third out on the right side and off the tip of the glove of Garcia, two more will score. Nick York gives the Bucks a 41 lead leading 4 to 1. Here’s Triolo one out of four, a drive to left field by Jared Triolo to the wall and big tree. It’s a big home run talk about clear in the deck like a big oak. It is his sixth. A no Doubter for Jared Triolo. Pirates open up a 5 to 1 lead in the ninth. We go to the bottom of the ninth inning and they’re going to go with Dennis Santana to try to close it out in a non safe situation and a pop up. I like it and raise the Jolly Roger. The seven game losing streak is over in Washington DC. A lot of Pirate fans will go home happy here in DC.

I'd like to inform Rangers fans that their commentary is MOST valuable to the rest of MLB fans.
Just as indispensable as Ken Paxton's missives regarding ethical behavior.
Pirates manage to snap their losing streak.
Hard to be positive..until they sell the team to owners that care about putting a real contender on the field..go Bucs😊
Pirates 👏👏👏
You know what the pirates pitchers aren’t even that bad that bad obviously they have the best pitcher in baseball with skenes but other than that they usually hold opponents to low runs if they just got some offensive consistency the whole year then they wouldent be so bad
Good stuff, Pittsburgh!
The Pittsburgh Pirates are 65-84⚫️🟡⚪️☠️💀🏴☠️🦜
