Well, on tonight’s show, the collapse for the Cincinnati Reds continues as they’ve now lost 14 of the last 21 games. Hunter Green has his worst start of the year. And what was the point of bringing Matt Mlan in at the end of the game? All that and a whole lot more. As you guys can see, I’m in such a great mood to talk Red Spaceball tonight. Let’s get to it. This is what you’ll be talking about. Well, there’s uh there’s a lot that could have gone wrong tonight and it did. And let’s kind of go through it all. First off, kind of cool. They start off two nothing. You’re thinking, “All right, this is going to be a nice day. Hunter Green is awful in the in the second inning and gives up three runs and you think, oh no, that’s not good.” And then you’re like, “All right, well, you know, it’s three. He can kind of bounce back. Goes out there for the third. Can’t get to the third. Gives up two more runs. Leaves after two and a third. You go crap. Mind you, the Reds do not have an off day for me. Look at the schedule again real quick just to make sure I have my monitors right. Um, till the 22nd. That’s cool. So with having an off date, not having an off date till the 22nd, they use Connor Phillips for an inning a third. They use Nick Martinez for two and two/3s. They use Graham Mashcraft for an inning where he gets destroyed. And they use Scott Barlo for twothirds of an inning where he also gets beaten in pretty bad. Um the Reds have now lost four of the last 21 games. They are now sitting at 74 and 74. You know what’s really irritating about this one? The Mets lost again. The Mets are basically just begging a team to take this from them. just begging someone to take this out of their hands. And also the Giants lost too. The team that’s catching up, right? The team that’s like now in this Mets reds Giants finagle and the Reds just kind of just let this one go. I mean, literally, this was a game that the the Yates didn’t want to win either for a while there. It felt like they know the Reds were trying to give it to them and make something happen and they couldn’t do it. Um, Michael, I don’t really want to talk college football. I just had a pretty rough night with that as well, too. So, um, it was not a thank god for college football night for Tim or a thank god for baseball night for Tim either. Why do I sports? Why do I sports? Um, but you know, there’s a lot of irritations in this game and there’s a lot of things that really could have gone wrong and they all went wrong and the Reds really had a chance to pick up some speed and get kind of get back in this thing and they couldn’t do it. And there’s a lot of things that go into that. So your usual did the did Tim check runners for scoring position? Yep. One for five. Did Tim check runners left on base? Yep. Six. All their runs tonight did come from homers, which is cool. I mean, Tyler Stevenson ties the game up 5-5. And you’re thinking the Reds that’s going to get the Reds the momentum back they need. They’re going to get back into this. And then the eighth inning happens and no. No. As a matter of fact, all that momentum was just given right back away where they give up five runs in the eighth inning. And that just kind of puts the game out of reach. So Lawrence Butler gets a single. I guess you could now add him to the list of Red’s killers. Nick Curtz is a grand slam. Just so ridiculous because it comes back to that thing where people often say this team plays their competition and there’s not an argument against it anymore. I can’t come in here and say that’s not true because there’s nothing that says otherwise. Um, you know, the Ace the A’s loss now looks like all those other bad series we just we just recently mentioned. Uh, the White Socks, the Nationals, both national series, the Marlin series, the Cardinal series, the Pirates series. It’s like um it’s just so frustrating. But thankfully, the one good thing about that is uh we have 14 of these left. And somehow someway playing that mediocre and that bad, they’re still just one and a half out of the wild card spot. Do I think they’re going to make it? No, probably not. Um but they’re still alive because no one else wanted to win today either. The Mets have now lost eight in a row. So, like I said, the Mets are just basically taking everything they possibly can for the Reds to kind of go ahead and take this one. Um, another thing that was really frustrating tonight is the Reds got their worst show of the year from Hunter Green, and we’re going to try to dive into what went wrong there as well, right after this. Thankfully, this is the last time we have a game that is after 10:00, first pitch for the rest of the year. Uh, if you are just checking me out for the first time, like I said, please be sure to hit that notification button so you can only get my show after each and every game, but get Jeff and Steve Monday through Friday on locked on rats as well. Let’s get to the turning point of the game. Time to reveal where the game was won or lost. It’s the turning point. Well, Nick Curt’s grand slam is probably the best place to start. And as Josh, good friend of the show and every day Josh TW mentions here, it was the longest home run hit of the season and it looked like it. He cleared the batter’s eye at that stadium, which is pretty high. The Reds got a bad game from Hunter Green. And while everyone’s going to have their worst have a bad outing at some point, his just couldn’t have come at a worse time. As I mentioned, Hunter Green goes two and a third, gives up five runs on four hits, walks four, and gives up two homers like balloons to three. That’s obviously me over exaggerating. For how great he was against the Mets, he was just as bad today against the A’s. And it’s frustrating because that’s the guy who’s been the best pitcher you’ve had when he’s been available. Um, and tonight was really night where the Reds really needed his best and he wasn’t able to give it. I’m never going to be mad at a guy for not having it for a game. It’s going to happen, but I am going to be disappointed that it happened when it did. I don’t blame him. I’m not mad at him, but it’s definitely a disappointing thing to kind of go through that he fizzled out in this moment. Couldn’t have done it. You know, he had that okay mediocre start against the Dodgers. Wasn’t bad, but this is by far his worst start of the year. not just for the fact that it’s such a a game the Reds needed so badly, but also the fact that it’s against a bad team and a trip AAA ballpark and obviously the offense could do nothing for him as well. So, that’s just really frustrating because it’s a game he really had. Um, other than that, Graham Ashcraft, um, I think I’m out. I don’t see it. Um, I understand he’s just coming back from that from from his injury, but there’s nothing that shows me the promise that he’s going to be a really good reliever, and I thought he would. I was wrong. Um, Scott Barlo, who I just think is worn out, man. And you can see it. Um, last seven outings, he has a 15 RA. Last 15 outings, he has a 743 RA. Dude pitches all the time. And it’s kind of wearing on, you can tell. Um, so now that not, you know, it’s just it’s just painful because this is a team that had their chances. It was all right there for them tonight and they just couldn’t find a way to put it together. Um, so that’s really frustrating and that makes this really irritating as well because this is the thing where we’re looking at this team kind of trying to figure out what the heck is it going to take because there’s no time for a run anymore, right? There’s 14 games left. It’s now or never. And I don’t know if D now exists with this team. I really don’t. I don’t see when it’s going to be because, you know, you always struggle with St. Louis. You’ve struggled like for your whole my whole life they struggle with the Cardinals. Um and then you have the you come home finally. You got the Cubs for four. So, you know, what are you going to do in that series? And then you’ve got the Pirates at the end of the year and you’ve got the Brewers last year. So, hopefully I mean the Brewers clinched their playoff spot. So, hopefully that means they’re kind of at the point where maybe they just rest guys there. I doubt it, but I don’t see when they’re going to make this run, but it’s at the point now where it’s uh it’s now or never, and I’m just kind of at the point where I got to see how it’s going to happen. Um, let’s get to our locked on player of the game. This is the locked on player of the game. Actually, Michael, he just got picked up, I think, by the Braves. Michael asked if is Alexis Diaz still unemployed? I think the Braves just signed him. Uh Josh says, “Is Andahar healing at all?” If I don’t think so. Yeah. Well, we all know they struggle with the Brewers. I feel like that could have gone without being said. That’s why I’m hoping the Brewers have already clenched everything they need to and they just don’t play their guys those days. Doubt it. Um I’m going to go Tyler Stevenson because that three-run home run gave the Reds a glimmer of hope and then obviously hope went way out the window very, very quickly. Okay, so as this knight is kind of ruining this team, um I’m really curious about this here. So they bring in Sal Stewart’s having a really great game, right? He’s got three hits. You’re feeling really good about Sal Stewart in the game. There’s anyone you’re feeling good about in this game, it’s South Stewart, right? He was one of two guys with the Reds with multiple hits tonight, um being Tyler Stevenson. So, South Stur gets a single and then they switch over and they bring in Matt Mlan, which I don’t mind. South Stewart’s not super fast. Um, and so the thought process of course for every normal, rational baseball thinking person is, okay, so Matt Mlan’s going to come in and play second base the next, right? Right. No. As a matter of fact, Matt Mlan’s going to get pulled from the game and Spencer Stewart’s going to go to first base and they’re going to keep Gavin Lux at second base, which no offense to Gavin Lux. You can say what you will about Matt Mlan, the hitter. Matt Mlan is a far superior sec defensive second base to Gavin Lux. And John Sedak literally says it when Lawrence Butler has the hit that brings in the run. It goes to his right and Sedak goes, “No disrespect to Gavin Lux, but Matt Mlan’s really good at playing to his right. That’s where he had his he’s at his best.” That’s a Tito dud. That’s definitely a Tito dud. Um, can’t have that. So, obviously Tito there. Tito’s got to hold be held responsible for that one. And then we kind of get through the situation where it’s like you’re just kind of watching everything glimmer down. Like I said, I don’t necessarily have the issue that South Stewart got taken out of the game. I would have been fine if they brought Steer in and just kept MLAN at second base and just kind of roll with it and brought Steer in would have been just fine with that. Guess that was too much to ask. Um and you know and like the other point too is like let’s say this end up being a close game. Let’s say the Reds don’t give up you know 10,000 runs and then they go out there and have a chance there to tie the game. If you have to play MLAN center field in a bad spot, you could have done that because he was eligible to still be in the game and you shot shot yourself in the foot there as well. Um, I don’t know. I feel like this was a night where it’s one thing when the players are bad, but when they’re also badly managed, um, it’s really hard to find a way to win games when you’re dealing with both of those things. But like we said, thankfully the Mets also cannot put a win together in the Giants. So once again, somehow still alive even though they’re playing awful used this week. 14 of their last 21 by the way. And then remember at the beginning of like the beginning of September when it was like Tito’s working his magic with the Reds. I don’t know if I’d call this magic. Um but anyway, the Reds are losers tonight to the A’s 11 to five. The A’s have 11 runs on 12 hits, no errors. The Reds have five runs on eight hits and no errors. Your winning pitcher tonight is Brady Basso. He gets his first one of the year. He is now 1-0. And the losing pitcher, Nick Martinez, he is now 10 and 13. And tomorrow, the Reds try not to get swept by the Athletics, who don’t even have a City name. Nicoladoo is the hill for the Reds. He is 8-7 with a 310. He’ll be going against Luis Moral for the AC. He’s 3 and1 to 273. First pitch is at 40:05. So thankfully, it’s after the NFL games for the 1:00. So hopefully the love of God the Bengals also don’t ruin my weekend after Notre Dame and the Reds did and I can have something to be happy about tomorrow. Uh but I’ll be on probably about 6 6:30 7ish depending if the game goes to extras or not. Everyone, thank you so much for dealing with me being very bitter and tired tonight. I love you all so very much. I’m Tim Daniel. Have a good night and for the love of God, go Red Legs.
The Cincinnati Reds suffered a crushing 11-5 loss to the Athletics on Saturday in Sacramento, letting another golden opportunity slip away in the NL Wild Card race. With both the Mets and Giants losing, the Reds had a chance to gain ground but instead faltered badly. Hunter Greene endured his worst outing of the season, failing to escape the third inning. The Athletics later broke the game wide open with a five-run eighth inning to put it out of reach. Cincinnati will now try to salvage the series finale on Sunday and avoid an embarrassing sweep to the lowly A’s.

Reds a poverty franchise imagine losing to the A’s back to back and on a verge of getting swept by them 😂😂
you guys suck.
Future request; you just spoiled this game for me, please do not post scores on the video thumbnails…
Tim, I’m sorry that you don’t really have a choice but to watch an entire game.
I turned it off in the third after the double steals, Greene spiking multiple pitches in the dirt, getting hit in the heel, etc. (if I were a betting man, I’d say Greene is out the remainder of the season with a “bruised” heel, or something like that)
I’m so glad I didn’t waste valuable sleep watching the rest.
Like I said after the first game, the Reds look way too “at home” in a Triple A park. 💩💩💩
Pretty sure they couldn’t have beaten the River Cats last night.
I have been watching these guys since 1967. This team sucks period. No lipstick required.
Unbelievable how the Reds can play this bad against teams under.500 and unbelievable that they are still only a game and a half behind
THE REDS SUCK…. GONNA BE SWEPT BY THE WORST TEAM IN MLB ….. what an embarrassment Lets go BENGALS!
