Winnipeg Jets Training Camp Preview | WST Sunday Live
[Music] I want to al run. Good morning everyone and welcome back to another edition of WST Sunday Live. My name is Connor Rabchack. In a moment I’m going to be joined by my co-host Liz Hood and together we’re going to get you set for Winnipeg Jets training camp. begins this week, Thursday, September 18th, at the Hockey Forall Center. The Winnipeg Jets will officially hit the ice for formal training camp skates. They’ve had their captain informal skates over the past week or so. But Liz and I are going to have you covered from every single angle, battles to watch for, intriguing storylines, what we’re watching for when we’ll be out there at the Hockey Forall Center, FanFest, all of these things that we will have you covered for. So, thank you everyone for joining us on WST Sunday live. I see a lot of people in chat already. Uh, and we’re going to start with that Jets win. Last night, there was Winnipeg Jets hockey. Uh, the 2025 Prospect Showdown got underway as the Winnipeg Jets defeated the Montreal Canadians in front of a soldout crowd at the Bell Center 4 to3 as Danny Jilen with the Heartbreaker with under 30 seconds left. Gave the Winnipeg Jets the win. So, we’re going to break it all down here. Thank you everyone for joining us. Without further ado, let’s bring her in. Liz Hood, my co-host on WC Sunday. Liz, how’s your weekend going so far? It’s been good. It’s been really good. I Oh my gosh, I refused to make any Saturday night plans yesterday because Connor and I were texting a little bit and it’s like, listen, I understand that this sort of thing come, you know, April. It’s like I don’t want to be spending 3 hours sitting and watching some non NHL random adjacent tournament oneoff here and there, but yesterday I did. It was so fun to have that Winnipeg Jets hockey back yesterday, seeing those jerseys on the ice out there against the Habs. It was a blast. It was a fun game. There was a lot to like about it. There was a lot to enjoy about, you know, if if you don’t watch a ton of of maybe junior hockey is the right word, whether it’s, you know, the WHL or leagues below, you sometimes forget how crazy those wins can be, the comebacks, like it’s never over till it’s over with uh when it comes to some of those junior hockey players. So, it was really fun to watch that. And obviously, the Jets win was very nice. couple of nice performances that I’m sure we’re gonna dive into. Yeah. And it it was really nice to just see the Winnipeg Jets skating around on the ice. And I will say it felt, you know, like the broadcast was a little bit they did have some issues with Daniel Frink and Jamie Thomas getting their voices on the air. But I will say in the time that they weren’t on the air, you could tell that like the soldout Bell Center crowd was very much into it. Like maybe maybe some fans that don’t get to go to regular season games or these big games bought some cheap tickets for this prospect showdown and hey they saw Ivan Demidov cook for the Montreal Canadians. They saw David Ryan Bacher top five pick. Uh like why not go out to a game on a Saturday night at the Bell Center. No matter who’s playing and hey the Montreal Canadians are playing the Winnipeg Jets. I know it’s just prospects but the atmosphere in there. The first thing I thought at the end of the first period was this atmosphere is so good for these young players on the Winnipeg Jets. Like putting them like the the first game of the tournament is sold out bell center and and the crowd was going nuts and the the Canadians clearly fed off of that. I’ll say in the first period they were incredibly physical. They were running around hitting everything that moved and it was good for the Jets to like experience that have to settle in and then eventually win the game. Like they they ended up winning the game. So, there was a lot to take away. Liz, what was your I mean, again, we’re not making sweeping judgments from a Prospect Showdown game, but there was Winnipeg Jets hockey, so we are going to talk about it. Uh, what were your thoughts on the win and and kind of your your biggest takeaways, if you will? Yeah, I mean, listen, we’re never going to end up in a situation where that exact Winnipeg Jets roster is going to play that exact Montreal Canadians roster. But across the league, generally speaking, and I’m not saying this to to dunk on the Winnipeg Jets by any means, everyone would agree that the Montreal Canadians have a much stronger prospect pool than the Winnipeg Jets do. There have been some concerns about what the Winnipeg Jets prospect pool has looked like in the last couple of years. And and you know, what’s the direction that the team wants to go? Do they have the internal fixes to kind of promote some guys within within? We talked about, you know, last week how Cole Petty’s youngest player on the team. And I don’t really foresee anyone from that next generation making the next step this year. and and some concerns along those lines. It was really nice that when put toeto- toe, I understand that structure and linemates and all these different things make it a little bit more difficult to play a good solid game, but it’s nice to have that, right? That was a really really good lineup that I thought that the Montreal Canadiens put out there because they have a lot of really nice young pieces that they they have brought into the organization in the last couple years. And not to say that that’s any different for the Winnipeg Jets. do like a lot of their prospects as everyone knows, but it was nice to kind of get off on that right foot. Like, you know, I I echo everything that you said about the atmosphere, the soldout arena and all that fun stuff, but also just the fact that this is one of the most highly touted prospect pools in the NHL. It’s nice to kind of show them up in their own building in a way, right, with that silencer from Denny Schilin at the end like that. That’s pretty fun. So, I I give them some kudos for that for sure. Yeah, the the silencer, as you put it, uh Denny Schilin drops down when he does the heartbreaker. Sy, I mean that I love it. I I love it. Like I said, the atmosphere was sold out Bellcenter atmosphere, so why not play into it? And I think where I want to start with my take on this game or my takeaways is Dom Devenentist and and Jay Miller came in and it was the first thing he said, you know, the dominator Domentis 38 saves. And let me tell you, these were not unscreened point shots that he was stopping. These were some great A chances. Not all 38, but there were a lot of great a chances. The Munchads had one set play that they ran. I’m not even joking. On the power play 12 times they did the down and below the goal line pass back up to the Flyer. I I they did that so many times and that creates a really hard save to make. Yes. And I I I’ll get into Ivan Demidov in a second because he was just too good for a game like this like simply put on the Montreal Canadian side of things. But diventis, there were so many saves, especially early on when that crowd was going. They were hitting everything that moved. Montreal seemingly had all of the momentum early and uh the Winnipeg Jets took a penalty and there was a play like the set play that you’re talking about list where it was below the goal line to the middle of the slot and Devinc Chentis had to get out to the top of his crease and make a big save in a one- nothing game that could have gone to two nothing and with the crowd that could have got out of hand really quickly. Um and Devinced just really really kept the Winnipeg Jets in it and they went bang bang in the second period as Dennis Beak says all the time um with with two back-to-back quick goals. Barlo scored in the third and then Danny Jilen uh with under 30 seconds left gave the Winnipeg Jets the win. But Deven Chent was incredible uh keeping the Winnipeg Jets in that game. So got to give him a shout out for how he played. There was a bit of concern list because Kieran Walton left this game and did not return. Did you see the play? I I tweeted it out if people uh haven’t seen it. I I I’m speculating that it’s the play, but he got absolutely rocked and didn’t play a shift from that point. Um so what like did you see the play? Thoughts on the curan wall injury? Didn’t return hoping nothing too serious of course. Yeah, I saw it. I uh I may may or may not have giggled a little bit. I was like, “Holy smokes, that was quite a way to take down a 6’6 forward there.” He got he got rocked pretty hard. But listen, I I’ve been following this prospect tournament and the other prospect tournaments as well, just kind of casually through Twitter, whatever. Everyone is playing it safe. There are a lot of guys who have left games and been said, you know, the teams will announce that they’re not returning and then the coach will do media afterwards. It’s like, okay, it’s fine, you know. So, um I’m I’m not going to speculate or say anything too too crazy on that. I would agree with you that I would assume that that is the play that kind of caused some discomfort that would have ruled him out for that game. But, uh, we’ll see what happens when either Mark Morrison or anyone else gives an update in the next day or so. Yeah. And like I said, hoping nothing too serious on Kieran Walton, but he did take a really hard hit. Um, it wasn’t necessarily high, at least from what I saw. Uh, but from that point forward was ruled out with an upper body injury. And again, he’s Yeah, six foot. Took a lot of force coming from both sides. Both players were going pretty fast in that particular moment if I recall correctly. Yeah, CMAC was saying um that he he missed the injury. Just to kind of give a not so good description of it, the puck was just kind of sitting in the slot because the Canadians defenseman just turned it over and the puck was stationary as Kieran Walton and a Montreal Canadians defenseman were both going to it at the same time. Walton got there first and had enough time to like wind up a shot, like a quick snapshot. And as he was doing that, the Canadians defenseman said, “Screw the puck. I’m taking this guy out.” Uh and just like crushed him. Absolutely crushed him. And Walton was clearly shaken up. Uh there was a shot after and then a quick whistle after the play and he just kind of got up slowly and went to the bench. Like it wasn’t it wasn’t anything like you thought, oh maybe he’s hurt, but it wasn’t very obvious that he wasn’t going to return kind of thing. But uh yeah, Kieran Walton did not return. A little bit of concern there before we move on from last night’s game list because we don’t want to spend too much time on a prospect showdown game, but like this is this is WSC Sunday live. This is what you wrong audience for me. This is what you uh this is this is what you come for. Um the Ivan Demidov I want to say he’s just he’s the odds on favorite to win the Calder uh and a game last night. You can see why because he’s playing against prospects. He’s playing against other first round picks, other high picks, other highly touted uh prospects like Elias Salammonson. And he’s just so much better. He’s just making plays every single time he’s on the ice. The Bell Center crowd every time he touch the puck they start cheering. you can hear the rumble start. Uh he had the breakaway goal in the third period that was nasty to give the Canadians uh get the Canadians their third goal. Um just thoughts on Ivan Demov because I saw you tweet a few times about him and and NHL Twitter was just kind of going nuts because he’s it’s hard not to he’s the best prospect in hockey and probably going to win the call there. Yeah, he’s unbelievable. I think the the one tweet that cracked me up, I don’t remember who tweeted it, but someone was like, “I will never forgive the Chicago Blackhawks for robbing us of Conor Mard and Ivan Evan. Oh my gosh, I can only picture what that would look like. He has got some swag to him. That guy right there. Holy smokes, there was a lot to like about that player and and I am very excited to watch him. I think he is exactly what that Montreal Canadians group needs. They have a lot of fun kind of complimentary pieces that have unique skill sets. You know, Nick Suzuki is kind of the vet of that group now that I think brings such an important like well-rounded perspective. Perspective is the wrong word, but like type of of player to that high end of their lineup. And Cole Cfield has his toolkit and Slavovsky has his toolkit. I think just the whole like the high impact like the the guy that you dream of having. I know that every team would love to have a Conor McDavid or every team would love to have a Nathan McKinnon or whatever, but you can’t really argue with the fact that that player is going to do better when plunked into a situation that’s ready to kind of help them have a role on the team and their supporting cast and there’s a way for them to kind of come in and have that environment that’s going to help them grow. And I feel like the Montreal Canadiens are starting to get there and I think this is going to be kind of the finger snap, you know, piece that when he starts to click that that’s going to turn the team into something that’s really fun to watch. So, I really enjoyed watching him yesterday and I one of the tweets I know that you’re you’re probably talking about that I made was one of those WWE memes or whatever of of Ivan Devon. Everyone was talking about how unbelievable he was and it was so funny like a couple times where it’s like he had some crazy plays and immediately afterwards Chase Yodar schools scores the goal of the year and then you know immediately after his other one um his other incredible play Danny Jelin with the silencer right I just want to give Danny Jelin a little bit of love with um you know going into this game I saw that the players wearing the letters were Chipperov Salmonson and Danny Schulin and I I kind of love that everyone kind of knows that that Nikita Chipperov is a little bit of a quieter player kind of um off the ice like just as a guy he’s a little bit quieter and again both him and I saw Montson in English not their first language that always plays a factor as well but Denny Jilin’s a guy that I really have circled as wanting to see have a good year he’s a a guy that hasn’t really had been on the best side of injury luck for the last couple of seasons and I think he’s been really looking to to sort of take that next step not in the Ivan Devidov way but just in the way that makes sense for him and I think having that letter kind of made me me happy for him because I think that the organization also sees the same way that they’d like to see him take that next step. And I think the time is is kind of now for him. And so those two goals with the letter on his chest made me really happy for Danny Shelin. And those were some some pretty clutch moments. And and I that release I saw that I was like, “Okay, I don’t know if I knew you had game like this.” Danny Jin, I can’t lie to you. Like he that shot was looking pretty good. So I I was really happy for him in particular in that group yesterday. Yeah. I’ve spoken with Danny a few times. He’s he’s so so nice and and the the the past couple of years for him have been tough in terms of injuries. Uh but if he can put it together, I mean, he’s got the defensive game. That’s that’s the thing he was drafted for in the third round. Um he was drafted because of that 200 foot game. And if he can add a little bit of offense, use that release a little bit more, get in the right spots offensively, um there’s definitely a player there. Like absolutely. And I I I firmly believe that. It is worth noting as well. He had two goals last night. He has five goals in his Manitoba Moose’s career over like 90 plus games. So, he’ll need to unlock that offense for sure. Um, but the defensive game is there and you can see it and and as a leader, like you said, Liss, with wearing a letter, um, that is that’s absolutely a great start. Organizationally, they they they value him highly in that regard that if he can play his way up the Manitoba Moose lineup, he could be a player that could uh that could be a Winnipeg Jet one day. Absolutely. Even in a bottom six role. And again, we’re we’re projecting too far into the future off of one prospect game, but uh we like Danny two goals. My future Adam Lowry. Exactly. Exactly. I mean, he should fill in for Lowry. No, I’m kidding. Lowry is coming back late October, early November. Uh someone’s got to fill the role. No. Uh Danny Zhoken though with a really strong performance. Dom Chantis with a really strong performance. And Chase Yoder, I want to give a shout out. Like these prospect games are so funny because nothing will be happening. And then Ivan Demov will step on the ice and it’s like, “Okay, that guy’s like a future NHL all-star. Okay, good for you.” Like, you’re you’re awesome. And then Chase Yodar out of nowhere just posterizes a Montreal Canadian defenseman in transition. Unreal to David Ryer, too. Was it Ryan Blocker? I didn’t look at who it was. It might have been. I don’t know. Maybe. Maybe. I don’t know. Okay, I’ll have to go back and look. But that was an incredible goal. And again, you’re you’re sitting there watching a prospect game, not expecting much. And then Chase Yodar just goes nuts. Like that was I feel like it was like the the the junior hockey version of like you know it’s like say for example we were to go to the outdoor rink and like Luke Shen was there and he would start like dangling and you’re like oh right I forgot that all of you can do this like in you know a more casual setting and all that sort of stuff where it’s like I understand that K Chase Yod like undropped whatever like oh yeah I every single one of these players has like ridiculous game and like I that was a moment of of pure confidence to pull that off for sure But holy smokes, it looked incredible. I know like your brain doesn’t, you know, it thinks much faster than you speak or whatever. And that that play happened pretty quickly, but I was watching that and the moment he did the first pull, I was like, if he scores here, this is going to be on highlight reels forever. And I was like, if he doesn’t, everyone’s going to think he’s an idiot. But this and then it happened so fast and I was like, there’s no way that just happened. And and shout out to to Daniel Frink for as always having an incredible goal call on that one because that one was that was a blast. Yeah, absolutely. Yeah. I think when he was on the air, great call of the game per usual. Um, and yeah, I I do think uh that was Ryan Bacher. I’m working here to to Are you Are you going through? Yeah. I follow a lot of Habs fans and I saw some people talking about David Ryer and they’re like, “Yeah, like I like this, I like that.” And they’re like, “And it’s going to happen. You’re going to get walked like that a couple times like life goes on kind of thing.” And I was like, “Yes, like defenseman.” Which is true. It’s objectively true, but it’s still funny. Like like I said, we’re never going to see uh this exact game on an NHL ice. Like there there’s going to be younger and older players with these groups of players and all these different things. But hey, for Chase Yodar, undrafted player playing on the fourth line in this prospect showcase and sold out belrowd that we keep talking about with their one of their top three prospects, like for sure, not bad. Not bad. I’ll take that. Exactly. Uh and yeah, you you mentioned uh Mitchell Canadians fans with, you know, like dunking on Ryan Bcker for a prospect showdown game. I also love the fact that I have hockey is so back. I know. I have Canadians fans in my mentions that are asking, you know, like as an out of market uh like just quick thought on on Demov, is he worth the hype? It’s like what do you want me to say? Yeah, he’s better than everyone else on the ice. Like is that like that’s so evident. You could ask anyone else. That’s so funny. It’s just like needing that like constant reassurance. Like I never know I was going to be good. Like they they just need to be uh told it all the time. It’s like I I don’t know. I’ve got I got that comment like a couple of times last night. It’s like you’re you’re a Jets reporter, but what do you think of Demidov? It’s like I don’t know, man. He’s got like a primary assist, a goal, and like every time he touches the puck, it’s a scoring chance, and it’s a prospect showdown game. Like, I don’t I don’t really know what to say, but uh anyways, that is uh that is uh something something that we’ll have to go through all year. And I’m just lucky or we’re just lucky that the Jets don’t play in the same division as well. I would prefer to do that than have to do that about Lane Hudson. So, you know what? We’ll uh we’ll take that take that action. True. Good call. Good call. Um yeah, but let’s move on. That’s uh the Jets play again tonight against the Ottawa Senators prospect team. So we’ll have more uh next week as well. I mean, next week we’ll be at FanFest. Sunday Live will be a game day edition of WC Sunday Live because the Jets play their first preseason game a week today. Hockeyy’s right around the corner. Um I know. I can’t wait. And uh enjoy the game tonight, folks. It’s at 6 PM again. WinnipegJets.com again. Uh watch it the same way. It’s still in Montreal. It’s just the Jets and the Senators uh taking each other on in the final game of this little mini prospect showdown. Uh the reason we wanted to go live today or or I mean we want to go live every Sunday, but what we wanted to talk about today I should say was training camp. Training camp begins this week. Off ice testing is Wednesday, September uh 17th. And then Thursday, September 18th, the Winnipeg Jets actually hit the ice for training camp, 4 days ahead of their first preseason game, like I said, which is Sunday, September 21st. Um, Les, what are some of the most intriguing storylines heading into camp for you? I mean, obviously there’s the Jonathan Taves angle where Taves is the most decorated hockey player in this city’s history and he’s playing for the team, so that kind of speaks for itself. Um and and if you want to talk about Taves, feel free, but maybe outside of Taves as well, um your your biggest or most intriguing storylines heading into camp here. Yeah, I mean I think like you you kind of teed it up there. It goes without saying that Jonathan Taves and therefore what happened surrounding Jonathan Taves, the 2C battle, the linemates, all these different things. I totally get that that but you know on this show we tend to kind of take the the deeper angle of things, the deep cuts and and the depth players and all these random tangents and all that. So I’ll I’ll do that justice and continue along that path. I uh couple of things that I think I’m going to be looking for. No shocker to anyone. Cole Perfetti is a player that I’m always very interested in. This time last year, Cole Perfetti we were well aware needed to take the next step in what it looked like for him to contribute to this Winnipeg Jazz lineup. He either didn’t have a contract yet or had just signed his contract because that went all the way into training camp and then he signed his bridge. And in my opinion, and I think in most people’s opinion, he did take a step last year. I think that he had a a really strong season. We know that, you know, just the season before he’d been held out as a healthy scratch for a long period of time. And I think he’s played his way into the lineup and being a little bit too important now to be doing that. But he’s still a guy who has a little bit to prove. And I think that he can kind of make or break his own destiny. Not necessarily just in training camp, but how the season starts in terms of is he the guy that plays with Jonathan Taves. Is he a guy that can kind of force his way into and maybe this will spill into my second point of Alex a follow also being an interesting storyline for me because I think both of those players have the ability to kind of influence and shape the way the Jets choose to disperse their talent. We know that Connor Shely Valardi works as a topheavy top line for this team and then you can kind of spread out the death pieces throughout the rest of the nine players, but we know that if we’re looking for secondary scoring from this group, they might need a little bit more of the the distribution of the wealth from that top line and guys like Cole Profetti and Alex Aalo, I think, have the ability to sort of play their way into higher leverage roles on this team. And so whether that means playing with Jonathan Taves or, you know, having Gabe Valardi drop down a line and going up there on that right wing to play with Shifley and Connor or something like that, I’m not certain. I’m not convinced that the team is married to that top line because I think they’re aware of the same things that we are that they may need some more secondary scoring punches now that Nikolai Elers isn’t there. So, I’m really interested to see if Cole Profetti and Alex can kind of make uh make some splashes in terms of what they’re able to contribute over the course of training camp and see who they get paired with in line rushes and in preseason games in terms of their their linemates, right? Because the organization is probably looking to see where the best place is to fit those guys as well. Yeah, 100%. And I I will I agree with you. The secondary scoring whether I mean that that is Jonathan Taves as well. uh like he gets looped into that like you mentioned and and the Cole Perfetti angle is really interesting to me. I do remember that he he missed three four days of camp last year and we were all freaking out that he was holding out and all of these things and will it affect his his regular season game and and maybe it did because he had a bit of a slower first half and then really took off in the second half when the the whole prickfetti thing happened. But uh yeah, Cole Perfetti, Alex, I follow all of those guys. I’m going to mention the absence of Adam Lowry and I want to see what the Winnipeg Jets do there. Do they go to Morgan Baron down the middle? Uh is Vladislav Messikov their 3C and Morgan Baron’s on the wing? What are the Winnipeg Jets planning on doing when Adam Lowry’s out of the lineup? Now, we heard from Adam Lowry this past week and he said that he’s targeting a late October, early November return to the lineup. So when he returns, obviously he’s going to be the 3C or maybe even the 2C by usage as he was last year a little bit. Uh but until then, what’s the plan? Is Vlatis Vescov going to be the second line center and Taves is the 3C to kind of limit Taves workload to start the season or are they immediately going Taves and Perfetti with another winger on the second line. That’ll be really interesting for me to see. And then on defense, there isn’t really any standout storylines. I mean, we talked about it last week that Billy Han is just a a likely candidate to get waved. I could see Liss trying not to jump in here, but I have things to say, so don’t worry. Oh, on the defense. Well, I was going to say on the defense, like it’s not as intriguing in terms of like everything’s set. They have eight defensemen or nine under contract. Vill obviously projects to be the odd man out. We’ll see if that changes. I guess that’s an intriguing storyline. But in terms of the third pairing, I know the third pairing is always a lightning rod on this program on Winnipeg Sports Talk daily on every single Winnipeg Jets. The corner of Winnipeg Jets social media, every single corner is covered by the third pair. I’m actually interested in whether or not the Winnipeg Jets see Stanley Shen as that third pair or maybe Flurry and Shen, Miller and Stanley. I don’t think that’s an answer we’ll get in training camp, though. So, I don’t I don’t like bringing that up as this is what I’m intrigued for in training camp because I think it’s going to be Morsy and Dlo, Samberg and Pian, and then just a mix of a bunch of random defensemen playing together and and that includes the Moose as well playing with a Shen in training camp because you you’ll see these weird line combinations, but the defense there isn’t really much intrigue for me in except for forwards last year, right? Yeah, forwards last year. Yeah, like you knew you knew what it was going to be. Um I remember the first day of training camp, people were getting mad that it was Connor Shethy Valardi as the top line. Um and then they went on to play the most minutes of any line ever. Uh in the NHL last, not ever in the NHL last season ever. It might have been. I don’t know. I should go check it. The most most played minutes ever. But uh no, I there’s more intrigue up front than on the defensive side for me this season as well. really to start the season what they do with the Winnipeg Jets third line center role with Adam Lowry out of the lineup. Uh anything else list on you know intriguing story lines that you’re watching for starting Thursday. What time is it? 9:27. I’m not going to go into a rant about the third pairing because you’re right. That’s a season discussion, not not a training camp discussion, but I think uh we covered a lot of those those bases and and like you said, it’s the forward group, right? That’s the you know, I think I can say and I’m not an insider by any means, but I think Connor Hellbuck might be the starting goalender for this team. I think I don’t know, dude. That’s kind of my dark horse. I don’t know. No, like I think that the the forward group and especially the middle of the lineup like we said um third pairing, fourth line can be uninspiring where it’s like eh flip of the coin. It depends on the day. Um depends what you’re looking for. It depends on XY Z. But uh yeah, that’s definitely what we’ll be interested in watching. And if any folks are heading down to Canada Life, nope, that’s the wrong place. Hockey for All Center to to watch any of this stuff. Take a look at who they’re throwing together in line rushes, right? Like that’s the the interesting part. What are they trying to throw at the wall and see if it sticks, right? where where is the coaching staff’s head going in terms of what sorts of those secondary pieces are going to play together? That’s what I’ll be watching for as well. Yeah. And we can’t go a training camp intriguing storyline segment without mentioning the the young players. I mean, Elias Salammonson, I just mentioned, I don’t think there’s much intrigue there on the defense core because I don’t think there’s really room for Salammonson to make the team like at all. even if he even if he really impresses. I mean, are the Jets going to trade one of their depth defenseman to make room for Salow? Like, I I just for a guy who had six good practices. I don’t know. Exactly. Like, he he had a good year with the Moose last year, but I don’t see them making big moves like that just to get Salow into the roster, at least to start the season. And then I I bring up the young players to mention Brad Lambert. I mean, we we spent basically the entire preseason and training camp last year fixated on Lambert versus Nemesikov at 2C. And this year, it feels like we’re not even really talking about them at all. Even though last Sunday live list, you and I mentioned that we thought while there are veterans to fill spots this year as there were last year, they aren’t necessarily as set in stone. Like Gustav Nyquis did have a rough final 30 games of last season when traded to the Minnesota Wild. Is he a middle six option? What if he’s not in training camp? What if he doesn’t get back to that middle six scoring punch level? What if uh Tanner Pearson uh doesn’t fit in in the bottom six? What if Cole Keepy doesn’t fit in? David Gustiffson, there’s room this year. I feel like more room with the loss of Nikolai Eers. And the team speed element, too. That’s something we didn’t mention last Sunday is like Nikolai is gone. And I saw Spency play or u comment earlier on. He can’t wait to watch Nyquis, Taves, and Perfetti play the game in 0.5x speed. And that’s that’s true. I mean, that that’s going to be one of the slower lines really across the entire NHL if that is the Jets second line. And really up and down the line, they need more team speed. They need more speed, especially up front. They need some of that dynamic speed that they’re losing from Nikolai Eers. And the guy that would replace that the best is Brad Lambert. Now, can he come in and be an effective top six, middle six option? That’s something we’re going to have to wait and find out. But I don’t I don’t see another way for the Jets to replace Nikolai Eers and that speed dynamic element other than Lambert which is I I will say as well um the the slow element of the the potential Jet second line of Nyquis Taves and Perfetti could still work like a slow line can still work and they can work together and feed off one another. Um, but if the Jets are looking for that team speed, they should be looking to Brad Lambert and that’s something that I’ll be watching for because we we talked at length about him maybe winning a job last year when I think this year he has an even better chance. Yeah, totally. I think we had the same kind of like caveat last year of being like but there’s not a lot of room here like this this forward group is pretty set in stone and it’s like you almost kind of have to to you know have a performance that the team can’t ignore kind of thing and it’s really hard to do that in training camp and I thought Brad Lambert was fine but you know you would have had to have gone on some crazy tear for him to have made the the team last year right but I have something kind of interesting to say about that second line and and you know Spency’s quip there which I’ve made the same one and I totally agree and I think that there’s something to be said for the ability to play NHL hockey with pace and not necessarily with speed, right? Like this is something that people talk about all the time but I I’m formulating a theory first of the year everybody drinks but it’s not necessarily a theory but it’s something to to consider with that top line. We know that Kyle Connor is pretty fast. We know, believe it or not, guys, Mark Shley is pretty fast, too. You just don’t see it all the time. Gardy, not so much. We know that as well. But that is a line that chooses to play a little bit more slowly when they have the puck. And it’s fully deliberate and by design and it’s very controlled and all these different things. And I’m wondering if there’s some way for that to kind of spill over in terms of what the team structure looks like as a fiveman unit to that second line to help them benefit a little more. I I understand that at the end of the day, hockeyy’s a chaotic game and if you get cooked off the rush and and you know, Conor McDavid gets around Cole Perfetti, none of those three guys are catching him. I know that. But I’m wondering if there’s something that can that they will incorporate into the way they choose to create offense at five on five as a team and not necessarily just as lines that does kind of highlight and platform that Mark Shley slowed down offense a little bit where, you know, Mark Shley is doing it by by choice. It’s not that he can’t play faster, he just doesn’t want to. Um, but I I’m wondering if there’s there’s something there. Are you following my line of thinking? I am. I I I absolutely am. And one thing that concerns me with that line of thinking is like, okay, if they can’t play with pace and they can’t get to that level of being a productive second line, where’s the team speed option? It’s Brad Lambert. Like, what what’s the Alexo there? also not very fast or or not very fleet of foot in terms of you know like dominating off the rush. Um who’s next? Nino need rider. I guess Morgan Baron’s fast, but is he a second line player? Is he a top six player? I I don’t think so. He took leaps last year, but I don’t think he’s there. Um I don’t know. Like it’s just I if there’s something that you know, you see all these projections online about the Winnipeg Jets potentially being closer to a wild card team this year than they were at top of the Central team as they were last year. I think the number one thing that scares me is the team speed element and the fact that there’s no real uh I don’t know insurance policy if the team is just very slow. I mean, you could bring Brad Lambert in as well, but he might not be ready for the moment. Like, he might not be a quality enough top six player to get top six minutes in the NHL at this stage in his career. That is a real possibility uh for Brad Lambert. So, we’re going to have to see how he plays in the preseason, in training camp, all of those things because there’s a real real need for team speed uh on this Winnipeg Jets group. And uh it’s something the last thing I’ll say about that though is that you know for for Brad Lab right and maybe this is me trying to mitigate the uproar that’s going to happen when he inevitably you know the at Winnipeg Jets PR thing that he gets cut from training camp comes and everyone’s like this organization hates young players and all these different things whatever’s entitled to their own opinions and I also have mine you know but this Manitoba Moose team is going to look different than last year’s Manitoba Moose team and okay here we 9:35 list is making it about the Manitoba Moose. Coloring me shocked, but uh I am liking a lot of the pieces that I think the the Manitoba Moose are going to be able to bring in this year. And the same way that Brad Lambert’s first year with the Manitoba Moose where he was playing with Obscure Jet of last week, Jeff Milant, nice only player in Winnipeg Jets history to play less than five minutes with the Winnipeg Jets in in the regular season in case anyone cares. Um there was a fit there with Jeff Malott and Brad Lever. There was a lot to like. there was a lot that worked in terms of of that mentorship piece and the being able to take on some of the defensive responsibility and all those different pieces, right? Last year there wasn’t a lot of that. There weren’t a lot of in-house options to work with Brad Lambert and Ashley Jansson Fialby was like they tried that and they were like match speed with speed but it didn’t work stylistically and all these different things. There are a lot of pieces coming into this Manitoba Moose roster this year that I’m really really intrigued by. So, I think that there is still a ton of opportunity for Brad Lambert to have a really good season and develop a ton as a player with the Manitoba Moose. I’ve said this about Billy Hanel in the past where it’s like, listen, I didn’t think that there was a lot of opportunity for him two years ago to to gain a whole ton from going back to the Manitoba Moose. And I stand by that and I will speak my my opinion and my truth for lack of better terms, but I think that a player doesn’t have a lot left to learn in in a specific league that they’re in. the same way that Brain Jagger last year, I wish he could have played with the Manitoba Moose. I think that Elias Monson and Brad Lambert both can take massive strides in their development and not be held back by playing for the Manitoba Moose this year. Yeah, and I think that is very much worth mentioning and I’m glad you did because a lot of people will see that as a failure. You know, Elias Monson and Brad Lambert gets sent back down in the Moose is like, “Oh, so they’re not quite NHL in their development.” But I think that’s okay and that the Moose are insulated with better talent this year. like you mentioned, Lis, I I’m I’m with you on that. Uh we got a super chat, our first super chat of the new season. Stan Scott, thank you. He said, “Keep in mind, people were also predicting the same for the Jets last year at this time that they would be closer to a wild card team.” And that is absolutely true. This is true. Absolutely true. And I will say the 15-1 start, the 15-1 start did a lot of heavy lifting for the Winnipeg Jets in winning the division and and getting out to that incredible start. I mean, I was making the joke, well, I wasn’t really joking last year after the 15-1 start that they had made the playoffs. Like, their their odds to make the playoffs after starting 15 and one, they would have had to go 500 or or below it the rest of the season to miss the playoffs after starting 15-1 like that. They they essentially made the playoffs and it was all about getting ready for the playoffs in November. Uh, so we’ll see how they start this year. It won’t be 15-1 because there’s no Lowry. But I will say it’s it’s a great point that people were predicting it’s going to be 16 and0 and you’re going to look real silly. It’s going to be bad. Yeah. No, but I will say this is a great a great comment from Stan Scott because people were saying this last year and I think we’ll get into it later on in this episode too. We’re going to talk about our thoughts on the central division as a whole and where we think the Jets slot in. Um and and we’ll see uh what Lisa’s thoughts are because I know I have thoughts. But yes, people were saying this last year at this time. Uh, and we do have to keep that in mind. But thank you for the super chat, Stan, Scott. $20. We really, really appreciate it. And thanks for stopping by this morning on WST Sunday live. Now, Liss, you apparently have a game for me. So, last last week I did the overunder and uh, waiters mentioned he senses a Lambert overunder question coming up. Maybe there is. Um, but Liz said that she was going to make a game for me this week that I’ll have to play. I didn’t look at what you were cooking in our in our Google doc that we do to plan the show. So, take it away. Take the floor. What do you got for me? I have a game for you and for everybody as well. It’s kind of like our our treading up and treing down where everyone can participate as well. It was inspired by your overs and unders that you cooked me with last week because they were really good. Don’t get me wrong. They were really, really good. And people can see me kind of on the spot being like, “Oh my gosh, I’m not sure.” This I don’t think is going to have nearly the same effect. But I wanted to create a game that I’m going to call before, after, or together. So you have three options. And what I’m going to do is I’m going to give you two players, and you have to choose if the players are going to get cut behind camp. I’m going to have a bunch of players that some of them are like they have similar roles and it’s like ah which one is going to maybe win the role or which one whatever but some of them are like vastly different in terms of their like what their their roles are in the team whether they’re prospects or older guys whatever and I want you to tell me which player you think is going to get cut first. Are you ready? Okay, I’m ready for this. I hope the chat is ready. I do just want to mention before you get into it Darth Skater $5 super chat. Thank you very much. He says all they need to do is go 15 and one again. That would be that would be great for the Winnipeg Jets. And uh again, if they did it again, I’d say again that they’ve made the playoffs in early November. So, we’ll see. Uh thank you, Darth Skater, though for stopping by and for the super chat list. Take it away with before, together, or both. I got that right, I think. Anyways, go on before, after, or together. So, after basically tell which player you think is going to get cut first or if you think they’re going to get cut at the same time because as we know, cuts tend to happen in chunks and in waves and all that fun stuff. So, I have six pairings for you today. Are you ready? I’m ready. I hope the chat is ready as well. First one, barring everyone is healthy, all this kind of stuffing. Kevin and Kieran Walton. [Music] That’s interesting with the Kieran Walton kind of like injury scare last night. Now that’s why I said don’t just pretend it never happened. Okay. Pretend Yeah. Assuming health. Yeah, good call. Um I’ll say together I think they’re both going to get cut relatively early. Uh because they’re both going back to the OHL this year. Um, uh, Kevin Heath to the Niagara Ice Dogs, Kieran Walton to the Sudbury Wolves. Uh, I think they’re just going to be two very early. They’re going to be at camp. They’re going to be there for the first couple of days, maybe the first weekend. Maybe they’ll play a preseason game, the first preseason game, because they’ll be ready to go. But I think together, and I think the chat is uh is pretty pretty consensus on together there uh for those players. They’re going back to junior. I will say if Kieran Walton and Kevin He were eligible or or if this was next year where in the CBA they’re adding a 19-year-old that you can uh play on the Manitoba Moose kind of as a 20-year-old. Both of those players would be at the front of the line for the Winnipeg Jets. And and there’s a little bit of strategy behind it too because they’re both 19 and you can only have one of these players that you can designate. So it’d be really interesting. But unfortunately that’s not a rule until next year. So the Jets can’t even do it. They’re both going back to junior. But I’ll say together. Absolutely. Yeah. We started off with a nice little little easy one. Gets a little bit more interesting after this. Okay. Jacob Julian and Fabian Wagner. Before, after, together. Ooh. Okay. So, Wagner’s going to the Moose. Oh, so is Julian, right? Julian’s making his pro debut this year. Okay. Um, I’ll say Wagner. Steen Wagner was drafted a little bit before him, but then he kind of popped off for a bit last year. Jacob Julian, 60 playoff games under his belt. I don’t know. There’s There’s something to like about both of them. I’ll say uh Wagner goes down one round of cuts before Jacob Julian. Okay, that’s that’s my take on that. I think Jacob Julian um again backto back uh Memorial or they won the Memorial Cup last year at London and won the OHL the year before. Uh just like that that team was so stacked. He was on that team and he he was you know he had a bigger role the first year I think and then this past year his role kind of went down as the team around him got better and they won the Memorial Cup. But Wagner being a Manitoba Moose this past season, I think is going to be just a very quick uh thanks for coming to camp. You’re going back to the Moose this year no matter what. So, they’ll get him there quick. He’ll be in that first group of like Manitoba Moose. He’ll be at Hockey for All Center. The Jets will be on one rink, the Moose will be on the other. Fabian Wagner will be there. And I think Jacob Julian, while he is making his, you know, like first pro year, I do think the Jets might give him a little bit more time in training camp with the pros because he’s coming off of such a successful career in junior with back-to-back champions with the the London Knights. So, I’m going to go Fabian Wagner before Jacob Julian to get cut. Yeah, fair enough. Yeah, that makes sense. Okay, next up, Tyrell Bower and Kale Kle. Whoa. Okay. Uh, we’re getting to the we’re getting to the Manitoba Moose. I love I mean, yeah. No, no, no. We Oh, we’re getting there. I’m giving you all these different there. There’s some different ones, too. Don’t worry. Oh, boy. Okay. Or no, we already do that. Tyrell Bower and Kale Kle. Who gets Tyrell Bower goes first for kind of the same reason. Goes before Kale Kle for kind of the same reasoning that I just mentioned with uh Wagner. I think Kale Kle has, you know, he’s been a top pair AHL guy the past number of years. Um, and I think he’s a player that’s closer to the NHL, uh, and is maybe more of a pro, like established player. So, I think they’re going to give him more time in Winnipeg Jets training camp. And I do think or or I hope at least that Kale Kle is partnered up with Elias Salammonson from like the first day of camp, even though it’s Winnipeg Jets training camp, because I think those two players are would be a great fit for one another in the AHL. like Kale Kle is like a number one defenseman in the AHL and I think he’s a player that Elias Salammonson would benefit from greatly. So, I’m going to go Tyrell Bower gets cut first. He’s been a moose uh for a couple of years now and I think he’s he’s a part of that, you know, like viewed as a veteran group that he’s just going to get sent down very quick and be one of the first players officially on the Manitoba Moose and cut from Jets training camp. So Bower goes first. And I think uh I think the chat is pretty pretty uh consensus on that one as well. Sure. Okay. Sounds good. You got three left. These ones are all a little bit more interesting, I think. Okay. David Gustoson and Jared Anderson Dolan. Jared Anderson Dolan goes first or goes I kind of figured, but I just thought I’ I’d open the floor up and see and see if the chat agrees as well. play. I think that those are two guys who if they make the team 13th forward sort of vibes. I don’t know. But the team seemed to choose to play Jared Anderson Dolan in some of the most high leverage games of the season last year. So, who’s to say? Yes. Yeah, exactly. I I will say, yeah, Jared Anderson Dolan was playing in the playoffs and scored goals. Uh so, uh I don’t know. I I’m still going to go with Anderson Dolan going first because I do think that they they view him again he was with the Manitoba Moose a lot last year and he really came on in the second half which is why he you know earned that playoff callup but I think David Gustoson is a player that they value highly as a potential you know 13th forward. So I’m going to go Anderson Dolan first. Um what’s the next one? Okay you have two left. Two left. Braden Jagger and Brad Lambert. Jagger. Ooh, I almost want to say together, but I have a feeling Brad Lambert’s going to be like the last wave, and I don’t know if Jagger will make it that far. So, I’ll go I’ll go Jagger first on that one. I I’m tempted to go together, but cuz the reason that I I was thinking about that one is that like, you know, we talk about waves. The waves dwindle as you get a little bit closer to the end. The waves come down to like one guy, two guys, whatever, and in your last couple days there. So, there’s always a chance that they they’re separate cuz I would agree like tier-wise, hence why I put them in the same question. I think they’re kind of in a in a similar category. But, uh, okay. Yeah, Jagger first. Yeah, I’ll go Jagger first just because I almost want to I I’ll say together. I’ll say it together. I think Braden Joerger is going to surprise I I’m going to say it. Uh, Braden Joerger is going to surprise people at training camp. I think he’s he’s a very pro ready player and that was something that he was, you know, lauded for coming out of the draft and has been laotted for the past number of years as well. Um he might be more pro ready than Brad Lambert even at their own ages like where they are in their development, right? Like I I do think that Braden Joerger is he’s going to be a jet one day because he’s just so like polished I guess is the word I’m looking for as a 200 foot player. So I’m going to go together. I think they’re both going to be the last wave of cuts. And I think people are going to be surprised by, you know, maybe the opportunity that Braden Joerger has. I I do want to say as well, sorry I’m going way too long on this one, but I do need to mention, we talked to Braden Joerger uh in the media before he left for the Prospect Showdown, and I just want to like mention that I love his attitude. He was asked about his goals heading into training camp, and he goes, “I want to make the team. I want to make the NHL. I know I’m just jumping into the pros and I know that I I know the situation in front of me is what he said. You know, like the the players, it’s a great team and it’s going to be tough for him to crack the roster, but he’s going in with the thought of making the NHL and and I I really like that. So, I’m going to go Brain Joger and Brad Lambert together. The final wave of cuts. Okay. All right. Awesome. Very last one here. And uh I think this one could also fall into a similar category, but I’m I’m hoping it doesn’t just to spice it up a little bit. Nikita Chipperov and Elias Salammonson. Chipperov first. Hot take. Chipperov first. I don’t know. I don’t know if that’s a hot take, but Nikita Chipperov coming off of a major knee injury this past season. I think while we spent the offseason and maybe even last Sunday talking about the opportunity for Chibberov to make the team out of camp. I really don’t think it’s there for him because of the injury. Like I think the Jets, no matter what, the plan is for them to uh get Chibberov into the AHL with the Manitos and get him playing games to kind of knock off the rust of that injury and get maybe some of that explosiveness back. A major knee injury is no joke for for hockey players. Like you need that explosiveness. You need that quick first step. Um and I think the Jets are going to be very careful in bringing him back. I don’t think Chibberov is going to be a guy that, you know, plays opening night for the Jets. even if he has a great camp, I just think they want him to get reaclimated uh with the Manitoba move. So, I’ll go Chipperov first and I think Salam Monson is in that Lambert group with the last the last wave of cuts. So, Chipperov first is what I’ll go with. It’s a great game though. That was my game. Great game. And I will say the chat loved it. The chat was playing along just like last week with our little overunder game. Uh we love doing our silly segments here on WST Sunday Live. Um Salow did have an injury as well. That that that is a good point. But he did finish the season a little bit. Um and and hey, he Chibberov I don’t know. I I I’m really interested to see if he’s got that same explosiveness. He’ll have the same fight, you know, going into corners fearless. That’s what Chibberov is is known for. Uh that battle and compete, but does he have the same burst, short area burst that he had before, at least to start? I’m not expecting it to start because again, it’s a major injury um to to the lower body as well. Uh but yes. Yeah. great game list and the chat loved it. Thank you everyone in chat for playing along on WSC Sunday live. We really appreciate it. Um Liz, before we get to uh trending up down and burning questions, which are the two segments that have been here all along on WST Sunday live and and people love them, uh I want to ask your thoughts on the Central Division. Um just just blanket thoughts. Is there a team that you think could surprise this year? A team that you think could be more disappointing? Where do you think the Jets slot in in the Central Division? Who do you think wins the Central? All of those things. Where are you at in the Central Division as we uh are set to open training camps across the league this week? Yeah, I think that there’s a lot to like about the Central Division in terms of of if you’re just objectively looking for interesting hockey in terms of, you know, from a Winnipeg Jets angle, there’s a lot to not like because I do think that some teams are are looking pretty good. Kapriov is like the most massive question mark in the Central Division to me. I think that that situation is fascinating and I have no idea what’s going to kind of go on there, but I like the Wild. Um, I think that, you know, I think they’ll be good if they can get that situation figured out. Even if it means signing him to a $16 million deal, I think that they’re they’re going to be pretty good. I think in terms of like maybe grouping teams into high on and low on, I would put them into the high on category. High on the Dallas Stars, high on the Utah Mammoth. Obviously, like everybody else, I’m low on the National Predators and I’m low on the Chicago Blackhawks. The two that I’m gonna put into categories that people might be kind of fascinated by is I am high on the St. Louis Blues and I am low on the Colorado Avalanche. Whoa. I think that St. Louis, though I wasn’t a huge fan of the Bold trade that they made this year, obviously we all watched a ton of St. Louis Blues hockey with a very very close lens at the beginning of the playoffs last year and they were the type of team that was kind of in a in a bit of a Montreal Canadians category where it was like it was just a big step for that group to get in. It’s a young team, you know, they weren’t expecting to win the Stanley Cup last year or anything like that. I think that they have a lot of pieces that I really really like. I’ve always been a massive Jordan Kyru fan. So, I think that um there there’s a lot to really like. I just lost an air pod on the ground, but it’s fine with with the group and I I think that they might take another step this year. I also really like their coach and the Colorado Avalanche. I just I feel like the Jared Bednar magic has kind of worn off a little bit and I feel like a lot of people are of that mind and I’m just I’m not sure that a full season without Miko Rantin in this new like Marty Mitches era and all this different stuff. I’m just not as high on them as I feel like I have been in past years. I think they’re still going to be good, don’t get me wrong, but I think uh a lot of the steam was kind of taken out from under their wings. That’s not even a saying, but you know what I mean. um of by that Dallas Stars round one win last year. I think that that was when the kind of the Yeah, I really was like, “Okay, maybe maybe this team isn’t what they once were.” kind of the same way that in the Eastern Conference with Tampa Bay, I know that Florida’s a freaking juggernaut, but it’s the same thing where it’s like when you know the team so well and they have such a strong history of like, you know, it’s Nathan McCann, it’s it’s all these players and you kind of have to to take a step back for a second, be like, okay, maybe maybe this team isn’t actually at the the highest caliber that they once were, even though they have still the same sort of star and caliber players. So, I I think that that’s kind of that touches on pretty much everyone in in the division there for my brief overarching thoughts. Yeah, I don’t know if you mentioned Chicago, but like you don’t have to. Uh, I said them and the and the Predators. I’m like, okay. I literally I don’t know if Connor can see my notes in front of me, guys. I literally I I wrote a couple things about each of the teams and I literally wrote the Blackhawks. That’s it. Didn’t need to write anything to that one cuz you know, and the Blackhawks like even if I’m looking at their lines like even if Baddard takes a huge step and is like a 40 plus goal scorer, they’re still going to be bad. Like their team on paper is just just not good. Um, looking at the St. Louis Blues though, I’m with you. Uh, the post Jim Montgomery stats were were something that we discussed at length going into that playoff series because after they made the coaching change, they were one of the best teams in the NHL. I think Robert Thomas is one of the most underrated players in the NHL. I think he has a legit shot to make the Olympic team over a guy like Mark Shley. I don’t think I don’t know if it’s going to happen, but um, as like the 4C or like fourthline right-winger, I could see Robert Thomas making team Canada this year. and they’re just kind of loaded like they’re top six and and CC mentioned it earlier uh that Jimmy Snugard is going to be a beast for the St. Louis Blues this year. It’s true like he’s going to be on the top line. He’s going to be in the top six playing with Tom is playing with Kyu Holloway Shen all of these players in their top six. So I do think if Jordan Bennington who often gets described as a big game goalie if he can you know keep them afloat because in the regular season he’ll have up and downs quite a bit um I could see the St. Louis Blues making the playoffs. I don’t know if they’re going to be, you know, better than the Jets or anything like that, but I do think that they’re a playoff team once again. Uh Dallas is going to be loaded. I think they win the Central. I think the Jets are either the second or third best team in the Central Fighting with maybe a St. Louis or a Colorado. Um in my notes, I wrote down that I don’t think the top three changes in terms of Dallas, Colorado, and Winnipeg. I think the order of them changes. So, I think Winnipeg uh doesn’t win the Central. That’s I’m going to put that on the record. I think Dallas wins the Central this year. They are they returned a lot of their team last year. Uh and the Winnipeg Jets lost Nikolai Eelers, of course, so I’m accounting for that a little bit. Um and but I do think the Jets are going to be right there throughout the season. And maybe a little bit of a slower start with no Adam Lowry, but I do think the Jets are a playoff team. I think they’re, you know, the second best team in the Central is is my prediction. And then the and I do think also second best team in the Central. I’ll say that I could see them, the Winnipeg Jets, Colorado, Minnesota, St. Louis and maybe even Utah all finishing second or third in the central, you know, like I think it’s going to be a very competitive division. I think it’s going to be a battle all season long. Uh but I do think that the Winnipeg Jets uh are a team that are going to be competing. I think they’re a playoff team even with the loss of Nikolai Eelers. They’re returning their entire same defense core, an MVP goalender. They’re going to get scoring. Their power play, I think, is going to remain in the top 10. I still think that they are a playoff team for sure. Um, and and I will say a team that might surprise or a team I’m higher on than I think, well, everyone’s high on them, so it’s hard to say higher on than consensus, but the Utah Mammoth, like I think the the defense core for them last year, they suffered major injuries to Sergev, Marino, and Dery all missed a lot of games. So, I think if they get a little bit better injury luck on their back end, they’re going to be a team that I think can outscore people for sure out up front with Clayton Keller and the addition of JJ Purka and Logan Culie and Dylan Gunther. Um, goending is an issue for them for sure, but I do think that they’re a team that could surprise and maybe even make the playoffs as a super young team in the Central Division. Um, Liz, I do before we get to our segments, and I know we’re running a bit long today, but hey, we we don’t have anywhere to be except for uh NFL Sunday in two hours. Uh, your thoughts on the Carell Capri off thing because it was reported by Frank Saravali that he turned down an 8-year, 16 million AAV contract. That’s the richest contract in NHL history. And then Bill Garin came on and said, “I don’t know where that report came from. It wasn’t from me. It wasn’t from his agent.” Uh, and then there was a report that the Wild asked Capri off for his trade list, which then was debunked or said that that wasn’t a real report either. So, where are you at on this Capri off thing? I I see that um waiters saying it’ll be a distraction for the Wild. I I somewhat agree because if he’s not signed and this there’s suddenly all this noise around them in going into training camp, uh that could be something that really lingers for a Wild team that is really on the bubble in the central. I think yeah, I mean I think that there’s probably clearly not a lot going on in the city of Minneapolis right now that like I feel like a lot of this stuff is like there’s smoke and then people closer to the situation are like where did this come from? I’m not involved in it. It’s kind of funny, but and and I tend to want to believe that because if they actually put that much money on the table, even if they put like a $13 million deal on the table or something like that, and he said no, immediately the only thing that we should be talking about is where is Kel Caprio getting traded? Cuz you’re not going to let that walk away. It’d be the same thing as like the Conor McDavid situation. If we knew that Conor McDavid didn’t want to extend with the Oilers, I know that there’s some some smoke around maybe he won’t and maybe this that, whatever, which fair enough, like you’re always going to speculate about these bigname players when they’re going into the last year of their current contracts. But like the only conversation should be where is he getting traded? Yeah. If that’s actually objectively the truth, not like, oh well, like what’s going to happen? We’re going to feel this out, try a different thing. No. If he’s saying no to a long-term deal worth $16 million, you have to trade him yesterday cuz you don’t want that to be a deadline acquisition for anybody because that’s too high leverage of a piece to to structure your team around in that situation. And also, same thing as like a Kyle Connor, it totally takes away from the value that you could have of trading that player for a full season. Like there there’s a ton that changes. There’s not a ton that changes in terms of of value from a guy traded in January to March, but a guy traded in September to March is like crazy what you could get for that guy, right? So, that’s kind of a long-winded way to say I think that there is still a heavy heavy heavy possibility that he signs with the Min Minneapolis Oh my god, the Minnesota Wild because if he wasn’t going to sign with them, like that would be all we’re we’re talking about, right? Like they they would be on the phones nonstop trying to figure out what to do with that piece. But the fact that they’re they’re not and that Bill Garren’s saying the things that he’s been saying like I think that that deal probably does get done in some capacity or hey we have another Miko Rant in situation where one of the most exciting players in the central division gets traded mid-season and then uh you know the Winnipeg Jets just say okay we’ll uh we’ll make it work. Yeah. And hopefully if he gets traded out of the division, he stays out of the division this time with a guy like Carell Capri off. He doesn’t micro dosing being away from Miko Randon for six days. Yeah. Like that was unreal. Um I will say my initial reaction to the Frank Sarvali report was you know Carell Capri turning down an 8-year $128 million contract. If that report is true, there’s only two reasons that he would turn that down. And the first one is he thinks he can get more money which is wild. I mean it Kuro Capris off is a very talented player and maybe he is worth the max which is 20% of a team’s salary cap which would be about $19 million I believe right now. Maybe he thinks he’s worth that. Maybe he thinks he can get more but man to think to turn down $128 million. Okay. So that’s reason one is was my initial reaction. Number two I think was he wants out. you know, it’s either he thinks he can get more or he doesn’t want to spend the next eight years of his life in Minnesota. Or I guess there is a third option where he could have wanted, you know, a three-year deal at 16 million and then cash in again in three years. But a guy like Carl Capri off who’s already missed time due to multiple injuries and and we’re well aware here in Winnipeg because it seems like every time he plays the Jets, he gets hurt. Uh turning down $128 million even in a rising cap. It’s not like we’re going to look back in four years at that and think, “Wow, he’s he’s way underpaid at 16 million.” Like, that’s still a massive contract, even in four years, even in a rising cap. So, I just don’t see the reasoning to turn that down other than the fact that he thinks he can get even more or he doesn’t want to be there. Uh, and we’ll see how this saga plays out, but it’s very possible that he signs a five-year deal at 16 million and then cashes tries to cash in twice. Again, I don’t think we’re going to be looking back four years into the deal and go, “Wow, Capri, this Capri off contract at 16 million. How did they get him at that number $4 million higher than any other player in the NHL?” Uh, I don’t know. I also think that there’s a little bit of everyone’s scared to set the market and they’re all kind of waiting for McDavid, which for a guy like Capri off, again, McDavid’s number should or will come in over Capriov’s, but I could see why he’d wait because McDavid gets 18. But like I was but what if McDavid gets like 15 or like 15 and a half or something? I don’t think he will, but like there’s no way. Yeah, I could see McDavid getting 16 million on a three-year deal. You know, that’s been reported out there that he might take a shorter term deal um to kind of try and win a cup here in Edmonton with Dry Settle in their primes and then re-evaluate after that. Isn’t that also reported about Mitch Marty, too? Yeah, I mean the reporting uh take it with a grain of salt at this time of year because I I do think it’s the summer of offer sheets. The phones are ringing. Conor, remember after Nicollayer signs everyone, there’s going to be crazy trade action. So just just wait. It’s it’s coming soon. Coming soon. I guess if Capri off gets traded, they were right. Uh going, I guess in in a backwards way. I’m not giving it to them, though. Uh anyways, that’s that that’s our thoughts on the Central Division. Now, let’s get to everyone’s favorite segment. Everyone’s going to play along in the chat as we always do every single Sunday. This is trending up or trending down. This is the segment where we pick one Winnipeg Jets player who’s trended up or down over the past week of play. Now, like I said, we are one week away from Winnipeg Jets hockey a week today. The Winnipeg Jets will be taking on the Minnesota Wild at Canada Life Center for pre-season hockey. We’ll see what the roster is like uh going into that game. Uh so there’s no Winnipeg Jets to to take. I mean, there there were games last night in the prospect showdown. So, we can take those players. Uh, and I’m sure that’s where you’ll start list. So, I’ll let you go first. Trending up, who’s your pick for the Winnipeg Jets this week? Yeah, I think for trending up, I’ll go with Kobby Barlo. I think that’s a player that we didn’t really touch on a whole ton when talking about the prospect game. He had two goals yesterday. One of which was was waved off. It was so funny. I don’t know if if folks weren’t watching, Kobe Barlo scored, I think it was in the first period, he scored a goal with a it was like a high stick tip in and it was immediately waved off and he’s like, “Oh, come on.” But nobody really fought it that hard because it was pretty obviously a high stick, but it was like insane hand eye coordination, like whatever. I was like, “Are we just going to like blow past that?” Like, that was really nice. Um, both the goals that he scored, while the one was, you know, not necessarily legal by any means, they were scored in different ways. And you know, this is a player that is his value is heavily dependent in my opinion on his ability to put pucks in the back of the net. That’s kind of his value proposition. That’s his m main selling point here. So I think getting on the right track in in that area will be good for his development slash, you know, just making sure that he’s on the right track to to become a contributor hopefully to the Winnipeg Jets one day. So I I’ll give him a little bit of love for for that for yesterday. Nice. Love that pick. Love that pick. Uh, I’m gonna take Domentus. He is a a goalie that has been drafted in the NHL. And that’s about that’s about as voodoo as it gets. Is there a goalie that was drafted in the NHL? Who knows, man? But anyways, uh, 38 saves last night in a road environment. Sold out Bell Center crowd that we’ve mentioned many times on this program. um just a dominant performance to not only keep the Jets in that game when they clearly were the second best team on the ice in the first I’d say the first half even the first 10 minutes of the second period but also uh to win them that game. I mean Ivan Debov comes in on a breakaway. Not much you can really do about that in the in the third period. But I really liked what I saw from Dantis. He was very active in his net, fighting through screens, made some big saves and big moments. I’m going to take him for my trending up. We talked about Danny Zhilen off the top. That would be another one. Um, I see Cmax saying Chase Yodar trending up uh in the chat. I I I like that one as well. Um, so there are a lot of good picks and uh let us know your picks in the chat below. And while you’re down there, make sure you hit the like button if you’re enjoying the stream today. List your thoughts for trending down. Who you got? I struggled with this one for a while. I was thinking about it and unfortunately I am going to have to go with a cop out here. Oh, Chris Treer. Chris Treler. Wow. I uh listen, I I don’t want to paint any of these prospects in like a bad light or anything like that. Um because yesterday’s game was just such a like chaotic guys out there being dudes, you know, kind of thing. I don’t really have anything super tangible to take away for anyone. Like even with Dom Ventas, I’m not trying to rain on anyone’s parade, but listen, I watched a lot of Manitoba Moose hockey last year, even though he did spend a good chunk of the season with Norfolk. Ah, we’ll see. We’ll see what happens there. I don’t know. He’s a goalie. He’s a goalie. Um, so I don’t want to throw any of the kids into that category right now. And and I think I gave some random, you know, Winnipeg Jets picks last week for turning down. So, we’re just going to go with an off the board easy cop out. And once the season starts, guys, I promise I won’t do that. But Chris Treler, Friday was a tough watch, guys. I can’t lie to you. I’m not feeling super hot about the Winnipeg Blue Bombers right now. So, that’s why I’m glad we’re talking about the the Winnipeg Jets, but um sorry, Chris, that’s uh that’s my pick for the day. Yeah, that’s uh that’s a tough one. Uh the Winnipeg Blue Bombers with just just Yeah, we’ll we’ll have more on the uh on WST Bombers Report with me and Schnitzy. I saw people talking about uh Zack Schnitzer in the chat earlier uh and his rants. We’re going to have more of them on WST Bombers Report because I’ve got some as well. Um, on the same note, I’m going to go Micochet trending down. Uh, you you mentioned Chris Streller because I think Chris Trevor, it was very evident from the start of that game that the Bombers were going to have to run the crap out of the football if they wanted any chance of winning. And they did. Like Brady Olivera had 100 yards in the first half. He was playing out of his mind. You saw him smacking his helmet after over after almost every single run. he was playing so good and the re the difference in the game at halftime was the two interceptions from Chris Trevor and to not go to Terry Wilson in the second half I think and again they’re very the the Bombers are very loyal we know this we’ve seen this over the last number of years they’d rather keep a player two one year too late than let him go a year too early which is you know in pro football is not really a good sign but I think to not go to Terry Wilson in the second half especially when your defense was playing good and really the only reason Hamilton was winning or in that game was uh the fact that Chris Trevor threw two bad interceptions. So on the note of Chris Treler, I’ll say Michael Shay trending down as well, not you know going to Terry Wilson in the second half and and really just having no passing game. And I see CMAC get the Canadian QB Elgersma in here. 6’5 doesn’t have an NFL deal. Claros deal or Claros’s injury is a perfect opportunity. If they were able to bring in Taylor Elgma, that would be awesome. Bombers second round pick this last year. uh got cut by the Green Bay Packers, but we’ll see. We’ll see. We’ll have more on the WSD Bombers report with me and Schnitzy. But that was trending up, trending down. Thank you everyone for playing along in chat. And like I said, make sure you hit the like button if you’re enjoying the stream today. Let’s get right into our second segment of the show list and that is one burning question. This is the part of the show where I or we open it up to the chat and the chat asks a ton of questions on the Winnipeg Jets. get your questions in now because we’re going to try and rapid fire through these. It’s already 10:10. We’re trying to get through this show. So, drop your questions down below. And like I said earlier, if you’re down there already, make sure you hit the like button, hit the subscribe and the notification bell. Listen, I have an analytics video coming out this week. Like I said last, I I teased it last week and I’ll tease it again. If you, you know, have been wondering about analytics, what the the popular analytics are, what they mean, how they’re tracked, all of those things, we covered it all. So, we have that episode coming out soon. But as for this show, drop your questions in the chat below. Um, and Liz, I I I’ll ask you. Last week, I asked you what was Jonathan Tav’s goal song going to be. And that was like everyone I That was like the most popular question we’ve ever had. I know. I also got some, you know, like Twitter DMs of people saying, “I think it’s going to be this. I think it’s going to be this.” Um, I got a great message actually. I should find it because uh yeah, Stefan said, “Just catching up on the WST weekend pod. Wanted to give you a suggestion for Jonathan Tav’s goal song, BTO, taking care of business.” Thoughts? Could you see that? I could see that quite a bit. I could see that. That was a good That was a good uh a little bit of like homage to the Winnipeg classic rock scene, you know? Like I think which personally wish there was a little bit more of that. Like there’s so many like Harley Quinn songs, the like Guess Who songs. there there’s a lot that could be could be done there and having a Winnipeg boy do that I think would be pretty cool. So I like it stuff and I the local angle we talked about the rock angle last week. Uh and like I said I I’ll maintain my stance that if if it’s some like Sabrina Carpenter or Taylor Swift song like that was not his choice and I’ll there’s no way I’ll have to grill him on it. I’ll be like there’s no way you chose that. Like it’s Jonathan Taves. Anyways um yeah that’ll be the first hard-hitting question that we uh we ask Jonathan Taves. Exactly. Exactly. All right, let’s get into one burning question. The questions are already flowing into the chat. A few people asking, waiter says, “Will Eric Comry play more games this season?” And then Comet says, “Heli over 60 games.” Uh, I believe Dallas Paul’s uh also asked about Hlea Buck’s workload. Yeah, how many games will Heli play this year? So, Liz, where do you think the split is at for Hellabuk and Comry? Do you think it’s similar to last year? Okay, we talked about this last week for sure. Um, and the reason I’m bringing that up, we talk about a lot of things week over week, but what was Do you remember the number of last year? Cuz I forget how many games 63. I’m going to double check that, but yeah, I believe that that’s that’s correct. So, I think that yeah, he plays less as we could do another before, after together kind of thing like uh inside, outside, in between. Um, I think it is more likely that he plays less than he plays more, but I really do anticipate that the margin of of difference in game is played is not going to be super super high. I’d be shocked if he plays more or less than like a four to five game skew from that. I understand that the the schedule’s a lot more condensed this year, so like who’s to say that could could impact it for sure. but he will be playing games at the Olympics and and we know that I think he took a positive step in his trajectory last year um in terms of like playoff performance over the course of after that first round kind of got over and and dealt with and we closed the book on that one. I thought in the second round he looked a lot better, a lot less shaky, all that good stuff. So, I think that, you know, he has nothing left to prove in the regular season in terms of what he’s capable of as a goalender. So, I think uh I’m going to go with like he plays 61 games or something like that. Yeah, I think it’s in the same range, you know, in that 60 range. And I will say I I hope that they’re more willing to play Eric Carry this year if he’s giving them reasons to play. Like he was a strong he started out slow, but again, a lot of that was he wasn’t getting goal support like that. He was losing a lot of 2-1 3-1 games and playing well in those games. Uh, and with the cadet schedule with Hellabuk almost certainly going to the Olympics with Team USA probably as their starter and getting more starts there even and not getting a break. I I’m hoping that we see more Eric Comry this year. Again, everything dependent on how Eric Comry plays because I don’t want to say this now and then the first five starts of the year he has like an 840 save percentage. It’s like, well, now you can’t really go to Eric Comry more. But uh I will say I’ll say in that 60 range as well, but I hope it’s closer to 55, let’s say, on the Connor Halabuk starts. And I hope the Jets have the luxury to do that. You know, they’re not fighting for a playoff spot down the stretch in the wild card and they have to play Connor Hella every single day or every other night. So, we’ll see how that plays out for sure. Daryl asks, “Will KFC sign before the regular season?” I always uh was mentioning the start of the regular season as my panic point for Kyle Connor. You know, if we are there at opening night and they’re raising the president’s trophy banner and Kyle Connor is unsigned, that’s a panic point for me. I do think he does sign before the regular season, though. I don’t think we get to that point. I think he signs in camp. Yeah. What do you think? Okay. Yeah. I um I’m going to go with no just to provide a different perspective. If you had said no, then I probably would have said yes. I’m not super married to some random arbitrary timeline that I’m setting for Kyle Connor, but I’m going to say that that it does bleed into the start of the season, but uh it gets wrapped up before the, you know, American Thanksgiving benchmark there. Okay, nice. Nice. Uh, next question from Darth Skater. Is Heli capable of giving us A+ puck handling? I believe he’s committed to continuous improvement and think one day he might even score a goal if he tries hard enough. I will say is his puck handling has gotten much better. Um like Hustler puts it on on the the Daily Show, it’s not quite shot caller heli where every time he leaves his net, it’s like no, get back in there. He’s much better. He’s a he’s a much better puck handler now than he was years ago and there’s no doubt about that. Um A+ is not where he’s at in terms of puck handling. He’s not Jordan Bennington. We saw that in the playoffs. Bennington. Every time the puck went behind the net, he was snapping a breakout pass up the wall. Uh, and was really like an extra defenseman because his defenseman didn’t have to go behind the net to retrieve the puck and he could just snap it to them. Uh, so he’s not quite there yet, but do you think there’s another Well, there’s definitely another level for Heli to reach in puck handling, but do you think he can reach that list or will reach that maybe even as early as this season? Yeah, I I’m interested. There was some stuff that I I circled at the end of last year that I was like, I want to watch this a little bit more closely when the season starts up. And one of them was the way that the Winnipeg Jets defenders kind of box guys to the outside and encourage the rim around which therefore encourages your own goalender to kind of stop behind and net, you know, whatever. Like the Winnipeg Jets were choosing to put Connor Hollowuck into puck handling situations is kind of the wraparound way to say that. So, I think that the fact that the defense core is similar this year means that they’ll probably and same defense coach who came in and all this whatever. I think we’ll see some similar defensive structure kind of across the board. So, I’m going to say that it does improve over the course of the year cuz I think that that’s something that um you know both the player and the team are kind of like circled as as it’s it’s a factor, it’s important, it’s relevant, it’s a situation that he is often put in, whatever. And again, like I mentioned before, not a ton left to prove in the regular season in terms of he doesn’t have personal legacy pieces he needs to be, you know, focusing on or anything like that. So, if that’s the the area, whether it’s that or like, you know, last year in the playoffs, there was so much you talked about those uh the what was the word the the like layered screen shots or whatever that people were freaking out about because those those high danger chances that the Jets kept giving up that Connor Hellbuck kept getting scored on when it was like Ryan Sudter shooting through four screens from the blue line or whatever. Um I think that if there’s a particular area to focus on, it it could be that. Um, and and if he does choose to focus on that, I think it improves because Connor Hellbuck and Weed Flareity are two of the best in the business at what they do. So, I think that that’s something that if it becomes an area that the player would like to address, it improves by, you know, my my kind of outside opinion here. Yeah, I’m with you on that. I also think the thing with Hellbuck’s puck handling, at least these last couple of seasons, it’s in the regular season on a Tuesday night against the Utah Hockey Club or Utah Mammoth. Yeah, he’s snapping it around. He’s throwing it up the boards. it’s totally fine. And then the playoffs come around and it’s faster and it’s almost like he doesn’t adjust for that and he’s he’s behind the net. He’s looking over his shoulder as if there’s not a player standing right, you know, like a St. Louis Blues player standing right there ready to take the puck. It’s like, well, in the playoffs, maybe it’s a little bit more of the shot caller Hleabuk where don’t leave the net. Uh or if you do, get it out really quickly. Um, and I still think, yeah, Doug Doug Thoroski puts it here that Hellbuck’s maybe a C grade at puck handling. I’d say, yeah, C C plus like he’s he’s serviceable as a puck handler and that is that is a step above what he was before, but there’s absolutely more uh to be gleaned there from Hela Buck’s puck handling because in the playoffs it has burned them a couple of times. Um, that was one burning question. Thank you everyone for playing along and giving us questions in chat here. All about goalies today. All about goalies. Yeah, all about goalies. Um, keep that away from me. Yeah. Two, like Dom Chentis just has people fired up for for goalending. It’s like, wow, this guy’s the next step here. This Oh, okay. No, last one. Last one. And it’s a goalie. So, we’re keeping up the theme. Higher number hell about games played or perphetti point total. I’m going periett. These are the weird questions that I love. It’s like who who’s asking this but waiters. I love it. This is great. This is these are fun. I am gonna say that everybody is hoping that it’s Cofetti point totals over Conor Hel played. And you know what? Some hopeium here today on this uh this fine this fine Sunday live Freddy point totals. Absolutely. He’s uh he’s going to crack 65 and and Carter Hellbuck won’t do that for for games played. Let’s do Wow. Wow. 65. Yeah, I’m kidding. I’m kidding. Well, I’m not kidding in terms of I like it. Like hit the over. Let’s do it. Yeah, I do think I’m gonna go Hellb’s games played, but I think it’s very close. And I think you have a real argument in terms of uh I know it’s the boring. It’s the boring pick. It is. Yeah. Cole Perfetti I think is going to be the player that gets on that top power play. So I think he’s going to be in and around 55 to 65 points. Uh but just to be a contrarian, I will say I’ll say hell about games played. I’ll take the boring pick. Uh, anyways, that was one burning question. Thank you everyone for submitting them. Hit the like button down below if you’re enjoying today’s stream and the notification bell so you don’t miss We go live every single Sunday at 9:00 a.m. talking Winnipeg Jets. Next Sunday will be a game day edition of WST Sunday live. I cannot wait. We’re going to have real hockey to talk about. I I mean, we have real hockey to talk about with the prospect showdown. This guy hates a prospect show. I keep saying that and it’s like so bad. is also a game day Winnipeg’s foot. Yeah, it’s also Yeah, good point. Uh anyways, yeah, we’re rusty. It’s preseason for everyone. How many times am I going to say that throughout the preseason? Probably a few times. But anyways, thank you everyone for joining us on today’s WST Sunday live. We really appreciate it. Uh Liz, anything else on the way out before we uh go watch some NFL football today? No, I think uh we got a we got a fun week ahead. I got lots of days that I’m hoping to make it down to Hockey for All Center to watch some exciting training camp. FCS, make sure you uh come say hello. We’re always happy to to see everyone down there at Hockey for All. Hopefully see some folks at FanFest, see some folks at the preseason games. You have some fun content coming up. Connor plugged the analytics video and all that good stuff. And we’re just excited to get talking about Winnipeg Jets hockey. And as this uh training camp roster dwindles down from what is it like 39 forwards or whatever to to a to a smaller group and we can continue to, you know, make our predictions and analyze these groupings and all these different things. We’re going to we’re going to have a blast. So, I’m looking forward to watching uh the New England Patriots win 40 to nothing this fine afternoon against the Miami Dolphins. And uh then hopefully we can just erase that from my memory and have some fun at training camp coming up on Thursday. You’re on to next year for the Dolphins. I mean, it’s Oh, yeah. Um I I I do want to give you a chance also, List, to shout out Chel Chitchat. You’re in the midst of season two. Uh I was going to let you shout it out last weekend, but completely escaped my mind at the end of the show. So tell people what they can expect on the remainder of season two of Chelta Chat. I know it’s underway and there are episodes out already. Yeah. Yeah. Thanks. Appreciate that. I kind of had some fun this off season. I could never ever leave hockey alone for for too long. So I have I guess it’s now four more episodes coming out and I timed it so that the very last episode of my podcast comes out the Monday before regular season NHL hockey starts on the Tuesday. So, I was like in my head when I started recording these in May and started posting them in July, it was like, “Oh my gosh, this is going to go so fast because NHL hockey is going to be back.” The first episode of the season was with our Winnipeg favorite Sarah Orleski. And there’s been a ton of really cool interviews kind of over the course of the season. You know, one of my personal favorites, I got to talk to Liz Knox, who’s uh the secretary on the Women’s Hockey Players Association and talking about kind of the formation of the the women’s league and all that fun stuff. Some really crazy good conversations. And if you guys want a little bit of a spoiler, I have a really fun one. Maybe not the same target demo as our Winnipeg Sports Talk Sunday live audience in the morning, but tomorrow’s episode is gonna be a really fun one. If you follow me on Instagram, I teased the little head shot of who I have coming on tomorrow. And uh it’s a one of the more famous partners of NHL players uh around. And then I have a really fun one coming up in a couple weeks that Winnipeg Jets fans are going to be interested in because there’s a tie to a Winnipeg fan favorite as well. Also a couple of fun episodes coming out and uh if you browse kind of Spotify, YouTube, podcasts, social media, you see all the different resources I put together and they’re all they’re all a fun listen if you’re looking to to kind of learn a little bit more. Absolutely. Well, yeah, great work on Chell Chitchat season 2 underway. Check out tomorrow’s episode, everyone. Uh as for Winnipeg Sports Talk content, like I said earlier, WST Bombers Report comes out tomorrow morning. Um throughout the week, Winnipeg Sports Talk daily one o’clock with Hus and well, not with Hus. I’m going to be on WST daily uh Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday uh as Hustler is in Kansas City and he’s going to watch the Chiefs lose today to the Wonder. Yeah. Yeah. He’s going to watch uh Sammy Smokes Barbecq’s Eagles take down Hustlers uh Chiefs live in person. Um No, I’m I’m kidding. That’ll be a great game. But anyway, it’s going to be a good game. Yeah, it is. It is. Um I’m just excited. Uh who said it here? Uh, Bingo Bango said, “Saints over the Niners.” I’m just I like Brock Perie’s out, George KD’s out. I’m just going to be closing my eyes watching the game. Let’s go. Mac Jones. Mac. Jones. Ner’s quarterback M. Jones. That is not a sentence I thought I’d be saying, but anyways. Uh, yeah, it’s going to be going to be a fun Sunday of football and of course a fun Sunday of hockey as the Winnipeg Jets take on the Ottawa Senators in the Prospect Showdown tonight. So, thank you everyone for watching. This was This has been WST Sunday Live. We really appreciate you stopping by every single Sunday at 9:00 am. We’ll be back next Sunday. Heads up for the analytics video this week on the WST channel. Stay glued to our socials. That’ll be coming out soon. And uh have a great Sunday, everyone. And we’ll see you next Sunday. Hey Connor and Lyss! Fabulous show today!! Such a fun game to watch our baby Jets get the win in Montreal last night!! I look forward to seeing what this bunch of boys can do once they make the NHL! I'm going to try to get to more Moose games too!
Have a great weekend and see you both around Winnipeg!
PS I'll be at Fan Fest on Saturday and have a ticket to the game on Sunday! Really pumped to get the hockey season going! I'll probably see you guys at one of those events if not both!
Idk I don’t get the whole team speed argument, I feel like we are really just talking about Ehlers. Speed didn’t help us avoid getting beat up against the blues and didn’t help us beat Dallas. It’s a regular season luxury imo, because who on Florida is faster than mcdavid?
It feel likes people are sleeping on Barron
One burning question….how much are the kidnappers asking for Jacob Stoeller? 🤔
