Drake Maye’s Numbers Says It All 👀 | Patriots vs Dolphins Reaction | NFL Today

Again, to your point, it’s only week two, but isn’t it nice to see incremental progress being made by squads? That was the case certainly for the New England Patriots. Absolutely. You talk about two teams that had to have a sense of urgency coming into that ball game today. Both Miami and New England started 0 and one and wanting to get back to it. I thought both sides played with a greater sense of urgency today. They did. And I thought that was apparent as you watch kind of the back and forth uh and both teams going at it. But I thought I thought Drake May played nicely. I I really did. I thought he was comfortable. He was confident. You talked about Josh Allen taking off and using his legs. I thought Drake May did the same. You looked at the numbers right here, 19 and 23, 230 yards passing, two touchdowns, and one rushing touchdown on top of that. The key statline there though, no turnover. There you go. Not giving them anything. I think that’s something that Mike Vrabel coming to the New England Patriots, having been around the league for so long, is is kind of in Drake May’s ear saying, “Hey, listen. We’re going to make the big plays. You’re gonna go out there, you’re gonna run, you’re gonna hit the the over-the-top shot to booty, which was a beautiful throw. But what I need you to do is take care of that football, trust your special teams, trust your defense, and both of those facets of the game, you know, came to fruition for them. Yeah. When it comes to young quarterbacks, I always feel like on the field, you need one best friend, and that comes in a form with a trusted tight end that you can go to, a superstar wide receiver, or a running back. Raman J Stevenson is a guy that you can count on. Yeah, I mean, he was their leading rusher and their leading receiver today. And when you got a young QB, you know, you got a veteran running back that you can either hand the ball off to or when I go through my progressions and things don’t seem right, it’s a little murky, there’s a gray area, I don’t want to risk turning the ball over, you know what, I’ll just dump it off to my guy, my safety net, who’s standing right in front of me. You know, I in coaching right now for these teams is by controlling the narrative right now. Shawn McDermott, these guys are up here. He’s keeping them down. He’s keeping them humble. Right now, if I’m down here and I’m I’m Mike McDaniel, yes, you better bring these guys up. And don’t talk about what they didn’t do. You gave up a kickoff return for a touchdown. You take that away. You played much better on offense. You made some stops at times on defense. You got some turnovers, takeaways. So, right now, I would be accentuating the positive down there or else you’re going to lose this football team. You saw some of the frustration, high expectation, but they played a lot better this week than they did last week, and they got to continue to build on that. I saw it from the fans and the players, coach. 0 and2. Things are looking a little shaky down there in Miami right now. You know how many teams went to the playoffs last year? They were thr I’m all I’m saying is that you better accentuate the positive. I hear what you’re saying because he’s going to lose his football team. We continue to hear that a young quarterback especially his best weapon on the team outlet. Val is a good running back. Absolutely. If not, he’s got to be close to it. Right. Got to get it.
