Not a stat, but Mike grinning after he golfs a low strike way beyond the outfield wall, or Mike grinning as he pops to his feet and dusts himself off after stealing second in the Dog Days of summer.
I really hope and believe (because I’m an idiot and I like baseball) that it’s Mike grinning and exulting at something great yet to come that I will hold as the best memory of him, not some stat. I’m not interested in the slightest in baseball cards or autographs or memorabilia, and not so much in stats, I just like the stories and the moments.
I like to see Mike grinning.
