They win the series finale 10 to2 on Sunday at Oracle Park. And yesterday the Dodgers offense, they showed up. You got doubledigit runs. And today was the same story. It was the first time the Dodgers have had back-to-back games where they’ve scored double-digit runs since April 29th and April 30th. So, it’s been a long time since we’ve seen this offense just erupt. And what I really liked about it today was there were so many hits by this Dodgers team, but it was not like they relied on tons of slug and tons of home runs. And yes, I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that you’re playing in a ballpark that’s outside of Seattle, T-Mobile Park. It’s the worst hitting park in baseball. But yesterday, the Dodgers 13 runs on 17 hits. And today at Oracle Park, you get 10 runs and you even surpass the hit total with 18 hits. I mean, it was an absolute offensive firework show. Tails Hernandez had his second four hit game of the season. The Dodgers behind a strong performance from Tyler Glass. Now they get the job done. It wasn’t just Teay Oscar though. Mookie Betts, Freddy Freeman, Michael Conforto. They had three hits each. The Dodgers offense come into play. They’re now six and three against the Giants this year. Tommy Edmund was big as well. He had a go-ahead RBI ground ball in the third inning. Freddy Freeman RBI double in the fourth. In the fifth inning and in a four-run fifth inning that really turned this this game into a laugher. I mean that that four-run fifth inning, you had Freddy Freeman go up there and show that, hey, this is a guy that really has not slowed down. I mean, you’re talking about a lean the league in doubles, still has the ability to get home runs in the 20 to 30 range, and he’s still one of the best at bats in the league. He also got another run when Joel Pagguero stepped off the rubber three times while Miguel Rojos was at the plate, and that caused a disengagement violation. And so a disengagement violation, whatever you want to call it, disengagement B. I mean, at the end of the day, that was a a a perfect way for the Dodgers to say, “Hey, we can score so many different ways.” And if it’s kind of getting you in your heads a little bit cuz you’re worrying about our at bats, then so be it. Also getting to Robbie Ray. Robbie Ray, five runs in six hits in four plus innings. I think the moment of the game, the Dodgers up two to one with two outs in the third inning. The Giants had two runners on at Glass. Now he gets out of that jam getting Jung Hu Lee to fly out to left. So yeah, lots of big takeaways in this one. Conforto three for four. He raised that batting average to 200. Oh my goodness. Michael Conorto’s at the Mendoza line. It’s the first time that he’s at the Mendoza line since June 20th. So, I know that’s kind of depressing and a little bit embarrassing that we’re celebrating a guy getting to 200, but considering the year that he’s had and considering what he’s trying to do and that is find a way to help this team late, it was big. He even start this game. Alex Call, he got the start in this game. And then Conforto, he comes in in the fifth inning in that a big four-run fifth inning for the Dodgers that he was one of the Dodgers to get one of those hits and he comes in pitch hit situation against Ray. He singles to right that scored Freddy Freeman and Tal Hernandez. pretty excited about my couto because hey if you get some if he can have some success and be a good competitive big league at bbat hey hey it’s all about outhitting your opponent it really is it’s all about what you can do on the offensive side and that’s why this team won last year and at this point I think it’s pretty it’s pretty obvious that you can’t say goodbye to Michael Conforto now he’s starting to hit and let’s hear from Conorto here was him talking to Kirstston Watson after the game. Michael, you came off the bench in this one tonight, but just to have a three hit game yourself, what’s been working so well for you offensively? Um, you know, I think my timing is better. Um, you know, I’m just really trying to compete up there. Um, you know, that’s really been the main thing over this past month. I mean, you know, just fighting for every at bat. Um, you know, I think that’s kind of been the team team is, uh, you know, forget about the numbers and just go out there, compete, um, do all the little things, right? And, um, we’ve been doing a little bit more of that, um, in this series. Yeah. Another big thing has been showing a lot of fight at the plate. When you look at whether it was yesterday against Logan Web, today against Robbie Ray, I know you weren’t in there to face him early in this one, but how you guys were able to put 11 runs on the both of them, what does that say just about the group right now offensively? I mean, you know, from from my viewpoint that we we’ve just been relentless. I mean, the the at bats have been um you know, super quality and um just always traffic on um moving guys over, putting pressure on the on the pitcher and the defense and um and then coming through in those spots um you know, when we do have those opportunities and um you know, so that’s that’s that’s been the biggest thing and um we’re trying to you know, continue to do that. I’ve noticed that something sparks when you’re playing here and how well you’ve been playing against your former team. What do you think that is? You know, I I don’t I don’t know if it’s just a familiar ballpark or or or just knowing, you know, having played behind a lot of those guys. Um you know, I definitely swinging the bat well here. So, um you know, maybe there’s something there. But, um really the big thing is just I’ve been focused on myself and and and being a little bit more competitive up there and you know, having an impact. not 13 games left in the regular season. How valuable is to feel this way right now as you prepare for October? It’s great. I mean, you know, obviously, you know, it’s been a it’s been a rough season personally, but um to to be feeling this way going into, you know, a playoff push and and and the playoffs itself um you know, that’s that’s all I can ask for and and um just got to continue to to keep doing those things that that have gotten me to this place. All right, Michael, congratulations on this win, the results, and best of luck tomorrow. Thank you very much, Michael Congo. where my Michael Conforto truther is at. It’s never too late. Here’s the thing. Here is the thing. If you were going to pick one time of year for him to actually start hitting the baseball with some consistency, would you pick March, April, May, June, July, August, or would you pick September leading into October? So, if this is how it had to happen, this is how it had to happen. And it’s not like he just came and had some success when they were already up big. I mean, his big single there in the fifth inning. That was the knockout blow. A pinch hit two-run single that broke the game wide open. Miguel Rojos, he cashed in with a Mui Bets and a Tasker Hernandez run score on a two-run single in the sixth inning. Conforto RBI three for three and he didn’t even start this game. So, yeah, you got to feel really good about him. You got to feel also really good about Mookie Bets and Tiosk Hernandez. I think both of them really showed this series that they’re on a similar track. Mookie had his turnaround sooner than Tea Oscars, but both of them were ma massive. Four hits for Teao goes four for six and Mookie goes three for four. So they combine to go seven hits a piece. Seven hits in 10 at bats. I mean, what more could you ask for? That level of production definitely is going to be massive. And this week alone, they had 23 hits and scored 14 runs in six games. So they didn’t have an RBI on Sunday, but they were the top two RBI men for the team. 10 for Mookie Betts and six for Ts Hernandez this week. So there just a lot of promising signs about this Dodgers team. The hitters that have slumped have turned it around. The hitters that have been injured are back. Tommy Edmund and Max. So I think it’s tough to not get optimistic. I know I predicted a sweep this week, but I’ll take five of six. I will take five of six. I’m going to put this out there. Going to put this out there just so it’s officially official. If Michael Conforto somehow someway, I mean, hey, Tommy Evban won the NLCS MVP. But if Michael Conforto somehow someway wins an NLCS MVP or a World Series MVP, I will get a 23 Confordto tattoo. And I’m not talking about a temporary tattoo. Real ink. I will go. I have zero tattoos. I have no tattoos. But I promise you that if he gets the NLCS of the World Series MVP, I will get a Michael Conforto tattoo. So, I just we’ll leave that right there. Is it likely? No. But there’s a better chance today than there was a couple of weeks ago. But here was Dave Roberts after the game talking about today’s win and the Dodgers strong performance this weekend up in the Bay. Just when you look at what Tay Oscar is able to do against a lefty, obviously he’s known for being a lefty killer, but for him getting back on track, the results we’ve been seeing recently and then you see him against Robbie Ray, is that just to say that he’s truly turned a corner right now? Um I I do. Um I I think that um you know just his overall play uh the last couple weeks has been very good, but it has been good to see him do what he does against left. Um but even today I I just thought that you know verse right the other night versus Web. Um he’s just taken much better bats and just overall play the defense has been much better as well with the bats yesterday against Logan Webb. The ones today against Robbie Ray that’s now 11 earned runs that you guys were able to charge the two of them. just what is that saying about the group right now? Um it just says that you know the int if the intent is there then the performance should be there and um the quality of the bat. Um this series has been heightened and uh you know we’ve uh seen some fruit. So it’s just been good to see that you know guys are winning pitches, seeing a lot of pitches, you know having good at bats against two really good starters uh you know in web and uh Robbie Ray. So, you know, it’s in there and, you know, we’re going to see some three good arms coming up this uh this home stand. What does it say about where Glass Now’s at at this point in the season where he’s fighting command, walks four guys, and then finds a way to compete and stay in there as long as he did. Um, I I think the thing that, you know, you know, for me, I I love the fact that he’s fighting through some things. Even when he doesn’t have his best stuff or he doesn’t feel great, he still find a way to go out there and compete. um get outs, go deep in a game. And you know, for me to be able to say that he’s unflapable, you know, that’s a big compliment. And I think that he’s getting to that point because uh you know, as we get further down the road, it’s going to get more intense and more heated. And so for him to be able to manage his emotions and still continue to make pitches, uh it’s really good for for him and for us. Can pitchers build upon each start even at the stage of his career? I think so. Um but but yeah, he I think he certain they certainly can. Um but I think that his ability to block out noise um and just kind of focus on the hitter that pitch. I think that’s the most telling thing for me. Is Muny 100% healthy since he spotted the runner miss. That was a good catch. Uh you know, Kirby owes him a bottle of wine for that one. U that was a great catch by Muny. Uh watching the game even though he’s not in the game, but um that was great. Um, I’m going to talk to him tonight and uh see, you know, he’s going to take one of those games off uh against the Phillies. I’m not sure which one. And so, uh, I’m going to decide after talking to him which one makes the most sense. What’s the significance of 23 runs in two games against two pretty good starting pitchers? I I think just intent, quality of a bat, um winning pitches, um using the whole field, um not punching. And so I think that all these things kind of, you know, you know, it’s in there. We’ve seen it. Maybe not the consistency we would have liked, but you know, when you’re facing two really good arms and to see us do what we did tonight is certainly encouraging. How encouraging was it to see have the day you had, especially coming off the bench? It was great. It was great. And obviously, you know, we’re going to have a bunch of lefties coming up here, um, four in a row, uh, starting with today. And so, I just wanted to get him in there as soon as I could to keep him kind of going because I think he’s in a good spot. But he gets the credit for being ready and and coming off the bench had a really nice day. See that he’s back to hitting 200. Yeah, I I think so. He’s, you know, off the interstate, which is a good thing. And um but I think that you know he’s on the come he’s having good at bats and so you know it’s up to me to keep him you know trying to keep him involved and you know taking getting at bats. There was Dave Roberts and he talks about Kirby Yates getting that uh that assist there from from Maxy spotting the runner and I think with Yates still need to see more. still need to see more. And he’s going up against the bottom of the order against gives the Giants a run lead. You want to just kind of get super clean but still scoreless. Did a fine job right there. But another thing you mentioned was Tyler Glass now. And I think Glass now has quietly put together just a really nice stretch here leading into the end of the year into the postseason. I mean, he’s a guy that we know stuff-wise takes a backseat to absolutely no one. It’s just about executing, not letting a bad moment here, bad moment there get to him, a walk here or anything like that. When he’s on, when he’s locked in, this dude is absolutely lights out. And I think you want to clean up the the balls and the free passes a little bit. He threw more balls than strikes up until the fourth inning, but still, he had only given up one run on one hit at that point, and he ended up settling down really nicely. He retired 11 straight Giants hitters at one point going into the seventh inning. Dig up a single to Andrew Kaisner. That snap, that streak, and then he gave a double to Drew Gilbert that ended up being the last hitter he faced. Dave came and got him after that. And Glass now, I mean, six and two/3 innings, you’re just one run away. And just six and two/3 innings, you give just one run. He gave that bond three hits in those four walks. Hey, you’re just an out away from going seven innings again. And that would have been the third start in a row that he went seven innings. So, I think things are trending in the right direction for Tyler Glass now. I don’t think there’s any doubt about it at this point that after Yamamoto, Snell, and Otani that he is the fourth best pitcher. And when glass now is your fourth best starting pitcher, a guy that would be the number one or number two and for sure number three on every other team in Major League Baseball, you have to feel really good about the starting pitcher depth. And not just the depth, but the quality of depth. I mean, we’re not talking about, oh, these guys are good as a number three. We’re talking about, no, these guys are aces that because of how good the top of the rotation is, they’re three or four on the Dodgers. So, that’s the number one thing that gives me the most confidence in this team. That’s why I think this team will go back to back and win the World Series again this year is because they have elite starting pitching and Glass now is a big reason why. And I I would not be shocked to see him have some better starts than some of the guys in front of him just because he is that good. So Glass now has had like a lot of these guys a roller coaster of a year and look yeah the the new ride just the new ride opened up at Six Flags Magic Mountain. It’s called the 2025 Dodgers, right? Up and down and this way that way doing loop-de-loops. Then somehow you you get back and and you just had a wild ride and it was a lot of fun. I mean, I’m hoping that’s kind of how it is for this team. But Glass Now is another guy that’s been on a long ride and I think that he feels really good about his performance right now and with a couple weeks left, he’s healthy. Knock on wood. don’t want to jinx the guy, but this is as deep into the season. We’ve seen him be healthy now, and that’s something to be feel very encouraged about as well. But here was Tyler Glass now after the game. When you look at this outing, just how did you find settling into this one just with a little bit of a longer start, longer inning of work, but just kind of getting on track as you got deeper into the game? Yeah, not uh not much feel for kind of anything early on and kind of the whole game to be honest. I think it got better later though, kind of just working with Ben back there and uh I started to find my slider a little bit. Each inning was kind of up and down, but I was just glad I could kind of go deep into the game and and give the pen a little bit of a rest. You can do that. Is it just telling to you how you’re able to kind of make adjustments in game mechanically or how you’re feeling? Yeah, I think this is encouraging for sure. I think this is probably one of the like timing wise the worst I’ve felt probably all year and it was just trying to go out there and compete and it ended up working out. How was that a growth area for you to be able to like just go out and compete even though like you’re not feeling sharp, not feeling 100% or anything like that? Yeah, it’s encouraging I think. Um yeah, just kind of where I’m at since I got back out to IL. It’s just easier to kind of put it out of my mind and just go compete and if my stuff sucks it’s it’s whatever. As long as I can kind of get into the zone and get some weak contact, it’s it’s helpful. you hear about hitters when they’re in like that hitting zone, you know, they have this kind of feeling that they’re in the zone. Do what you’ve strung together since you’ve come back. Is that something that you feel too that you’re on that type of I would not say today I was in the zone, but uh I think when things are going well or like when you’re able to kind of just not I I guess just kind of go out there and get into a rhythm for sure. I think today was a little rougher, but I think the last few I’ve kind of felt like that. Maybe not today, but in the last few. Yeah. To get the results though, what you’ve been able to do, not just the last two or three or five. It’s been significant amount of time here. Yeah. Thanks. Is that something that you can lean on as far as confidence? Is it your curveball? What is it that’s been able to carry you forward? I think it’s just kind of whatever works in the moment like as far as scouting report or whatever that is. I think just like what it what feels good in that inning, just throwing it with conviction. Whether it’s like if I have my curbball early, I’ll go with that. more sinkers today. Four seam wasn’t really working and then as the game went on, I kind of leaned on the slider a little bit more. So, I think it’s just adjusting to what I feel and then just having conviction while throwing it. Yeah, absolutely. And as you point out, he really wasn’t in the zone as much as he would have liked to be. 108 pitches, 61 for strike. So, he can be more efficient than he has, showing was 13 for 27 on first pitch strikes. But, he’s a guy that could get more can get more swing and miss, too. got nine swings and misses. So, it wasn’t his best day. It really wasn’t. But I I like the fact that his B performance is still really really good. And that’s what you get when you sign guys to big deals that have a lot of lot of upside and high ceiling and guys that have ace quality stuff. You kind of get things like this. I mean, Tyler Glass now wouldn’t want four strikeouts and four walks, but he gave up one run in six and two/3. And with the offense performing like they are, that’s more than enough to get the win. His season erra down to 306. So he’s quietly put together a really, really nice year. I do want to say though, give Ben Roarvet his flowers because he continues to impress and I think that Glass now appreciated what he was able to do for him behind the plate because you can honestly say that there’s something that Ben Roarvet does better than Will Smith. What is that you ask? It is his ability to frame pitches. He is a great pitch framer and you saw that throughout this game. His ability to take some of those pitches maybe a little off the plate but boom get it back in the zone the way he did it helped him. And you look at his baseball look at baseball perspectus. Will Smith is a below average pitch framer and so is Dawn Rushing, but Ben Rorvette, he’s not. He’s above average. And you saw this a couple times in this one. I mean, there was a uh some of these pitches, the one to Chapman, and you get one that’s on the outside and a full count pitch and he’s able to steal that strike and that helps Glass now because that doesn’t extend the inning, right? That ends his inning. So, you got to love that. And also on top of that, he reached base three times in this one. He had two walks. He had a single. And with the Dodgers hitting 320, 8 for 25 with a 414 on base percentage. So there’s the pitch framing. He’s actually hitting, which is kind of a pleasant surprise. But also, he’s the only Dodgers catcher this year to make seven starts in nine days this season. Will Smith had eight starts in nine games, but that includes the break with the Japan series, the Tokyo series. So, yeah, give him credit. I mean, it’s a very unexpected that he’s come up and been able to do what he’s done, but the pitchers have performed incredibly well. I think it’s a little bit of a coincidence because I think that all of them were kind of in line to hit their stride right now. I still think that they’d be performing well with Yamamoto and Snell and Show and all these guys doing that just because they’re great and they know that this is the time of the year that they want to be at their best. And I think Will Smith still is fantastic obviously, but uh it it really does show you what having a pitch framer first type of catcher can do for your staff. So was very very impressed with that. By the way, Freddy Freeman, he hit his 39 double this season in the fifth inning. That leads the National League. Freddy Freeman, he’s led the National League in doubles in four of the last seven seasons. He’s one shy of his 640th double campaign in his career. The double on Sunday was his 547th double of his career. That ties him with Manny Ramirez for 34th all time. Also, Show Otani running wild again. We talked about this. 135 runs this season. That breaks his own Los Angeles Dodgers record for runs scored in a year. He’s 13 runs shy of passing the franchise record that was set by Hub Collins in 1890. Now look at the standings. The Dodgers, they’re on top of the Padres’s in the National League West by two and a half games with 13 left to play. That is essentially a two and a half plus one game lead. So that’s a three and a halfame lead because the Dodgers took nine of 13 games from the Padres’s this season. And now the magic number for the Dodgers to clinch the division is down to 10. So you need 10 results that go your way, whether it be wins by the Dodgers or losses by the Padres. So, when you get a win and a loss in the same day, you knock a couple off that magic number. I’ll explain more on Dodgers dug at live tomorrow. Another thing, too, the Dodgers, they’ve won all three series against the Giants this season. They’ve taken two out of three every single matchup this year, and they’re going to play four games starting Thursday at Dodger Stadium. So, great job by this Dodgers team after a Friday meltdown with Tanner Scott. We’re going to talk some Tanner Scott tomorrow. My man Dose on IG, my friend, the greatest Dodgers rapper out there. He noticed some pitch tipping. I talked to some people. We’ll see if uh with Tanner Scott where he kind of dips his head on breaking balls and does it on fast balls. Going to talk to Tanner Scott hopefully tomorrow at Dodger Stadium to get his his take on that. But an a quick update on Will Smith before we get out of here. So Will Smith, he was placed on the injured list on Saturday with a right hand contusion. And this is from where a play where he took a foul ball off the hand on September 3rd against the Pirates. He has got his hand out by his side. Probably wanted it behind the back now and he gets hit and he missed five games with a bone bruise in his right hand. the Dodgers, they decided to keep on the active roster and not iiling him. And they kept three catches on that active roster because you had Ben Rovveet, he was called up from TripleA Oklahoma City. And then Don Rushing, he found a ball off his right shin on September 5th. He was placed on the IIL the very next day, but after him making one start on Tuesday against the Rockies, Will Smith was scratched the very next day in the lineup because the hand has continued to swell up. So Dave Roberts did say yesterday up in San Francisco that Will Smith was not improving enough and that is what led to the move to place him on the injured list. So, it was backdated the maximum amount of days at 3 days. So, Smith could get back in the Dodgers lineup active roster next Saturday, September 20. That’s the earliest he can return. You got the postseason coming. So, you want to get him back and get that rhythm. So, they’re also going to make sure that he’s absolutely fine, too. So, just not enough improvement. And it’s concerning for sure because it’s this late in the season and you just want to make sure the bat stays hot and that he’s just feeling really good heading into October. But the corresponding move, the Dodgers, they called up Chucky Robinson from Oklahoma City. He was active this weekend but did not play. And then he was optioned on Monday when Max Muny was activated off the IIL. And then Ben Rodvet, he was starting pretty much all week. And then Robinson, you’re probably going to see him at some point when he comes back rushing. He’s on a rehab assignment in Triple A. He can’t come back until Tuesday. So that is the update on Will Smith. Got a quick postgame show today, but tomorrow Dodgers dug out live. Got some big guests this week that I’m excited about. All kinds of incredible Dodger baseball to talk about. Guys, lock in. It’s here. This is it. This is the season. Football’s back. And that can only mean one thing, right? The postseason is near. And your Dodgers, they took the San Francisco Giants last two games. BTA belt to blank. Fill in the blank. Belt to right. That’s what the Dodgers did to San Francisco. And hopefully they do it again next week. And SF can really stand for a season finish. and we can turn Oracle Park into a spirit Halloween supertore. That is the goal. But that’s going to do it for this quick episode of the Dodgers Nation postgame show. Tomorrow we’re going to break it all down as well. Join us for Dodgers dugout live in the morning. We got our big takeaways. We’re going to talk about what this means for the postseason roster, do some offseason talk, and all kinds of crazy stuff that we do on this show. But thanks again, guys. Michael Conforto is the worst interview ever. He repeatedly stuttered “ummm” at least 50x. Geesh
今日のコンフォートは よかった
The Phillies would need to collapse…..which they won't. Even if the Dodgers sweep the Phillies, they are too far behind. Dodgers just need to keep San Diego down. Unfortunately playing the wild card series….but if they continue playing as they have demonstrated, they can make it through.
Tanner Scott’s 10 blown saves of the year came back to bite us in the ass. We would have already clinched a playoff spot. Let that sink in….
"Rort The Goat"! If he continues.
Rortvedt over Rushing in the playoffs
Rortvedt > Rushing
ConfortoFC STAND UP
If Conforto pulls off one of those MVP scenarios in the post-season and you get that Michael Conforto tattoo DMAC, it has to be a tramp stamp with butterflies around it😆🦋
I am terrified everytime Tanner Scott enters the game. We cannot put him in the game in a close game or we lose. What is wrong with Vesia? We haven't seen him pitch in a few games. Let's hope Conforto has turned things around.
I need to get rid of Tanner Scott a totally sucks he is only got one maybe one or two saves what a joke
Another thing why in the hell are they baby in Will Smith the catcher he's tough as hell play Baby these players way too much
Stilll can’t trust Conforto and Scott come the postseason
Leave Tanner scott out of the playoffs please
Don't worry roberts won't let them
I’m hyped. I hope the Dodgers sweep the Phillies.😎
A 23 tattoo might not be so bad
Kirk Gibson also wore 23
Thanks DMac. It would be pure awesomeness if the Dodgers choose now to come alive for the season! Let’s go Blue!
Conforto sucks. What’re you smoking?
DMAC do you reckon Scott needs to pull his glove hand in on release. My kid used to pitch and his coach would always tell him “J pull that glove in- you’re killing your balance and making your command harder to master with that damn glove swinging wild in wind.” Sure enough whenever J would pull his glove in on release he would paint the ball where he wanted it. Coach explained it was a matter of inertia and basic physics. (Guy was an engineer.) he explained that not pulling the glove hand in on release created more struggle for the body to control in order to find balance and less pinpoint accuracy as body was fighting energy going in opposite direction than where it ought to be expended. Coach knew J loved Kershaw (he calls him Kershaw as J Always picks #22 as his number)so his coach told him to watch videos of Kershaw pitching, to show J how Clayton always pulls glove hand in on release. It makes it easier to control balance and hence helps with command. Coach said it is a REALLY bad habit to get into letting glove hand swing wild on release as it throws off balance. And it’s better to channel that “escaped momentum and energy” forward into the pitch. Again guy was engineer so he was huge on implementing basic physics as part of pitching technique… only an idea….maybe as Scott has aged it has become more difficult for his body to counter his balance created by that wildly swinging glove hand. Near all our pitchers pull that glove hand in:Kershaw, Ohtani, Yamamoto, Glasnow, Snell, Sheehan…. Again only a suggestion….. I just feel badly for Scott…. I do.
