The Texas Rangers sending out Jack Lighter for the start in this one while the Astros will counter with Jason Alexander. And you know, Alexander’s just been on a nice run of form. He’s been one of the more, you know, surprising options for the Houston Astros over the course of the season, but even then coming off a great start last time out in a tough spot against a red hot Blue Jays lineup. Seven innings of three hit shutout baseball. He’s been just really, really solid. The uh the Astros have won his last eight appearances in a row and since being acquired by Houston, the uh the Astros have actually picked up 10 wins in his first 11 appearances for the team. So, got to, you know, appreciate what he’s brought to the table for the uh the Houston Astros on the year. And, you know, now you look at uh you look at Alexander’s recent form. I mean, a 2.17 RA in the month of August, a 2.25 ERA in two starts in the month of September. You know, the strikeouts have been there, the ground ball to fly ball ratio is, you know, 5050. So, he’s he’s doing a good job of of just putting his team in a position to win and facing some tough lineups along the way. I mean, beat the Blue Jays in Toronto. You know, the the Astros beat the Yankees twice with him on the mound. You know, beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat beat the Dodgers 18-1. You know the uh you know the only loss came against the Athletics who have been really rock solid. But still, you know, we’ve seen Alexander pitch well for his new team in really solid spots. And this is a spot where the Astros need him to step up. I mean, you know, they they’ve stumbled in their last few games. They watched the Seattle Mariners get redot and and pull even at the top of the AL West and I think that you know you can get a solid start here from Alexander. Now Jack Lighter on the other side you know you look at his numbers on the road this season hasn’t necessarily been the best away from Globe Life. A 4.45 erra on the road this season. A 228 opponent’s batting average is not terrible but I still think that you know he could have some issues here. He’s had issues with the Houston Astros at times this season. one and0 so far this year, but a 4.380 RA. I I just as as hot as the Texas Rangers have been, I just don’t see them winning every single game. And, you know, I just like I said, I like what I’ve seen from Alexander up to this point. You know, it’s going to be interesting to see sort of how, you know, these teams kind of break it down as you get into the later stages of this game. But right now, the Houston Astros in the month of September against righty’s fifth best batting average in baseball. The team OPS numbers are really solid as well for Houston. They’re top 10 and the isolated power numbers are are workable. The Texas Rangers just have not been as strong against righties in uh in September. And I think that uh I think Alexander can can post another solid performance and get another victory here. So, give me the Houston Astros in this one. And that’s going to be my free pick.
