The NBA Has A Charlotte Hornets Problem

[Music] They are the undisputed laughingstock
of the NBA [Music] and they haven’t made the playoffs in the last nine seasons. And since their
inception in the late 80s and the early 1990s, they are the only team in the history of the
NBA to never make a conference finals. We’re talking about the Charlotte Hornets. But what
happens this year with a reloaded toolkit when it comes to death off the bench and names like
Khan Canipo, William McNeely, Colin Ston, and Spencer Denwitty and budding stars and superstars
like LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller. What happens when this team finally gels together under Charles
Lee’s system in year two of his coaching tenure? What will happen if it all actually hits?
If everything finally comes together for this laughing stock of a franchise, the league
pass darlings that are the Charlotte Hornets. It ain’t no fun when the rabbit got the gun. On this
video, we’re going to tell you why the NBA has a Charlotte Hornets problem. And this may be the
year that it finally all comes together. [Music] Hey, Rick that. All right, y’all. Welcome
back to another video. And in this video, I want to talk about the Charlotte Hornets.
The time is now. So, I’m telling you right now, this team is about to shock the entire NBA. For
years, the Hornets have been the forgotten team in the East, the squad that people just write
off. But this season, it feels different. This roster is deeper. It’s tougher. It’s loaded
with young stars and veterans who know how to win. And I’ll say it right here at the start.
The Charlotte Hornets are going to compete for the Southeast Division title and they’re going
to make the playoffs. Yeah, I said it. And by the end of this video, you’ll see why. So, let’s
start with the franchise cornerstone of this team, LaMelo Ball. He’s the engine of this team. When
he’s healthy, LaMelo is one of the most electric guards in the league. He’s flashy, yes, but more
importantly, he makes everyone around him better. He’s the type of player who can put up a near
triple double on any given night. 23 points, nine assists, seven rebounds. Those are
realistic numbers this season for him. Now imagine him fully healthy, locked in, leading
this squad with weapons all around him. The floor spacing, the live threats, the shooters. It sets
up LaMelo to have his best season yet. And don’t be surprised if his name starts floating around
in the Allstar and even AllNBA conversations. Now, let’s talk about the X Factor. Right next
to him, you’ve got Brandon Miller. If LaMelo is the engine, Brandon Miller is a superstar
in the making. He’s long, he’s skilled, and he already showed as a rookie that he’s not
afraid of big moments. I mean, look, you can play with Brandon Miller if you want to, but he’s got
that it factor. He’s not scared to go at anybody’s head and dunk it all over you. I’m talking about
I’m talking like dunking it like a Dunkin’ Donut in some coffee. Y’all saw the highlights. This is
the year he makes a leap. Think Paul George. think Jason Tatum, Brandon Miller is built in that mode.
He can score at all three levels, mid-range, deep threes, attacking the rim, and he’s only going
to get better. I’ll go ahead and say it. Brandon Miller could be an all-star this year. That’s how
much of a breakout I think he’s about to have. Now picture this. LaMelo creating Brandon Miller
finishing. That’s a one-two punch the Hornets have never had before. And it’s the reason why this
team is so dangerous. Now, let’s talk about the new additions, the fresh energy they got, cuz
this front office, they really went to work. So, you got to start off with Colin Ston aka
the Young Bull. This guy brings fire every single night. He’s tough, he’s aggressive, and
he’s a walking bucket. You need instant offense off the bench, Ston gives you that. He’s the
type of guy who could come in and drop 16 to 18 points in limited minutes. And the Hornets
have been missing that edge, that toughness. Sex changes that. I mean, y’all saw what he
did in Utah last year. Even if they was down, he was still giving it his all and getting his
buckets. So, you got to watch out for him. Then you add Spencer Denwitty. Come on now. This
is where the veteran presence comes in. Deny has been in big playoff games. He’s hit clutch
shots in Brooklyn. He’s played alongside stars in Dallas like you saw him before. He’s steady.
He’s reliable. And if LaMelo ever needs a minute out or whatever the case may be, you know, Den
Witty can keep the offense moving, even better, he can play with LaMelo and Sexton in three guard
lineups. That will always give defenses headaches. They won’t be able to have a break with this
offense. And don’t forget about Pat Coneton. Come on, man. We talking about championship DNA
right there. He won with the Bucks. He knows what it takes to go deep into the playoffs. He’s a
shooter. He’s a defender. He hustles. He does all the little things that don’t always show up in the
box score, but absolutely can help you win games. Every team that’s serious about winning needs
a Pat Coneton. Now, let’s talk about the young draft picks because they really trying to
build the future. And what really excites me about the Hornets roster this year is the youth
movement. They didn’t just stop with proven vets. They brought in young prospects who can
contribute now and grow into the future. You got Musa Diaate. High energy, non-stop motor.
He’s a rebounding machine. He’s the kind of guy who changes momentum with effort plays. And let
me ask y’all this. Have you ever seen a moose on a basketball court? The moose is loose. and a
moose on a basketball court. It ain’t pretty. Now, let’s talk about Cion James. Defensiveminded
guard. Exactly the type of player you throw at the opposing team’s best score. He’s got a little
bit of that, you know, Lou Dort energy to him. He can knock down a three when he need to, but he’s
going to be scrappy. I mean, he he he’s going he’s going to get all up in you like a prostate exam.
Y’all saw what he did at Duke. Then you got Khan Canipple, a pure shooter. I mean, y’all saw
him in summer league. This man can flat out knock it down. Think of him as like the Hornets
Grayson Allen type. No shot is too big for him. And Hornets need shooters that will shoot. Then
you got Liam McNeely. He’s a versatile forward with a high basketball IQ. He’s that glue guy
that can make the extra pass, stretch the floor, and just plays winning basketball. And you
need that type of young energy on your roster. Then you got the coaul man or as I like to
call him Ryan Caulbrrener. He’s a shot blocker, a rim protector and a sevenfooter who can anchor
the defense. Melo’s been needing that live threat in numerous seasons and now he’s got one. When
you look at all these young guys together, you realize the Hornets are just building,
not just building for this season, they’re building for sustained success. They’ve got a
pipeline of talent that’s going to keep this team in the mix for years. [Music] Now, let’s go
to the core veterans and the starters, of course. Now, you can’t forget the core veterans that are
already here. Miles Bridges. He’s quietly one of the most explosive players in the NBA. I mean,
this man can get you 20 points on any given night. And when LaMelo throws those lobs, you know it’s
going to be on Sports Center. He’s a huge piece of this puzzle, especially with all of the chemistry
that he’s already developed with LaMelo. That’s his guy. And if they rocking out with him this
season, I’m rocking out with him, too. Then you got Trey Man, and I still think he’s slept on by
a lot of fans. He’s an underrated scorer. He can get hot at any time. real quick. And having that
kind of weapon in your backcourt rotation, oh, it’s a big deal. He’s got the the the sauce with
it, man. He he he gets the comparisons, the AI, the way he dresses, the way that he carries
himself. He’s so cool, man. He seems like he never panics. And I think he going to be able
to cook a lot of folk like Habachi all season. Then you got Josh Green. He’s an athletic wing.
He plays defense. He runs the floor. He’s the type of player who doesn’t need the ball to impact
winning. And on a team with so many scores, h having a guy like that is essential.
Everyone will be able to do their job. Now, the next question I got for you is why can’t they
win the division this season for the first time? Let’s look at the bigger picture. The Southeast
is wide open. Do you really think that the Heat with Tyler Harrow and Bam Ma Bayou are going to be
all that this season? Let me answer that. No. Now, the Magic, yes, they do have a a good amount of
talent, but they’re still trying to figure things out, and they’re young. And do they have a true
leader on that team that can step up and take them wherever they’re trying to go? Only time
will tell. Then, of course, you got Atlanta, a whole bunch of talented guards. They’ve been
inconsistent for years, still trying to get over the hump with that same roster and letting Trey
Young lead them to the promised land. Then you got the Wizards. I I I can’t I don’t know if they’re
in rebuild mode, they’re in we don’t care mode, we’re trying to figure things out mode. I don’t
know. Either way, they ain’t ready. And then you have Charlotte. If this team stays healthy,
if LaMelo and Brandon Miller take that leap, the Hornets have a good shot as anyone to take
this division crown. And when you think playoffs, this roster is built for. And don’t forget, every
year there’s a team that shocks everybody. Last year was a Thunder, or you could say the Pacers,
and maybe even the Cavaliers. You never know how far someone can take it. This year, it’s going to
be the Charlotte Hornets. I’ll go on the record. The Hornets are winning a playoff series
this season. For the first time in decades, Charlotte is going to make noise in the playoffs.
So, to all the Hornets fans out there, this is it. This is the season you’ve been waiting for. This
isn’t the same old Hornets. Do y’all think that LaMelo and Brandon Miller can both be allstars?
Cuz I do. Do you think that the Hornets are division champions this year? Cuz I do. Believe
me, you do not want to miss this season. Let’s go Charlotte. Let’s go Hornets. And with that,
I’mma send it over to my man Rev to take it. Look, I can already hear you laughing at me when
I say the NBA has a Charlotte Hornets problem. But today in this video, I’m going to break it down,
me and my partner Sean, unequivocally why this may be the year that it all finally clicks
for the Charlotte Hornets. And once again, like I said in the intro, if it does, I want you
to come back to this video during the season and make the same jokes that you made after this video
in the comment section. And feel free comment. Am I tripping? Am I gassing the Hornets? Am I
overrating LaMelo Ball? Feel free to challenge me down there in the comments section below cuz
we’re going to talk about this today. Now, before we get further into the video, Sean’s already
done a great job breaking down why he thinks the Charlotte Hornets are hitting that lottery
this year. I want you guys to share the video, like the video, and subscribe to the channel.
And once again, think about becoming a channel   member because it’s going to be very important
throughout the duration of the season to have a membership on the channel so that you can get all
the coverage from all 82 games, multiple teams, multiple superstars throughout the regular season.
We look forward to providing you with coverage of all the NBA news, rumors, trade rumors,
and who we predict will be an all-star. So, make sure you guys right now share the video, like
the video, and subscribe to the channel. Look, it’s all there for the Charlotte Hornets, and
this is the year, in my humble estimation, that the Charlotte Hornets finally start
to build some traction toward a perennial playoff appearance. Why do I say this? First and
foremost, numero uno, literally LaMelo Ball, Mr. self-escribed one of one. I think LaMelo Ball,
as you’ve seen from the previous videos on the lit house, is by far, and it’s not close, the
most talented, the most gifted point guard in the NBA. 67, some say 68, some say 66. Whatever
he is, he looks plenty tall enough for me. 6768. transcendent passing, the ability to stretch
the three, the ability to stretch the floor, the ability to make any play that he wants at
any time, the ability at that size to handle the basketball like a 61 or 6 foot point guard.
This ability sometimes, as I’ve spoken about in the past, is sometimes something that hinders
him from being his best self. And this year, I would expect LaMelo’s numbers to take a small
dip as far as scoring output if he wants to be the type of guy that evolves into a championship
level point guard. I’m expecting those numbers to be around 24 points a game, 10 to 11 assists,
seven rebounds. To me, if LaMelo can do that and get these other guys involved and allow them
to do some of the other other heavy lifting, I think that his efficiency can go up even though
his scoring output may go down. I also think that teams can no longer do what they did in the second
half of the season, which is load up the box on LaMelo, play box and one style defenses to make
sure that they’re stopping him and him alone. If he gets Brandon Miller going and he can get Khan
Canipple going and Miles Bridges going and guys off the Brent bench like Trey Mann and Colin Ston
and Spencer Denwy and some of those bigs, I think the sky is the limit for the Charlotte Hornets,
but it starts and it ends with LaMelo Ball. Number two, unquestionably Brandon Miller. It is time
for Brandon Miller to combine the glimpses and the flashes that we saw in season 1 and season 2
and become the guy that we think he can be. Now, I know the jokes of the Charlotte Hornets are
always, can they stay healthy with LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller missing multiple games over
the course of the last two seasons? But like I told you, man, when you’re the Charlotte Hornets,
there’s only one way you can go, and that is up. So, I’m predicting that this is the season
that they finally do stay healthy. And could you imagine a full season with this roster with
LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller staying healthy on the court for 60 plus games and how that can
shift the perception and and the predictions of the win percentage. This is the year more than
any other year, the third year for Brandon Miller where he has to put a signature on who he is
as a basketball player and what impact he can make on the court for the Charlotte Hornets. A 6-9
prototypical wing that can stretch the floor with the potential to be a two-way demon and a premier
scorer in this league. We haven’t seen this model of player since Paul George. And I know a lot of
people scoff at Paul George, but especially before an injury in Indiana when Paul George was battling
LeBron James in the Eastern Conference Finals, they were a LeBron James layup from going to
the finals under Paul George’s leadership. So for everyone that scoffs at the comparison
of Brandon Miller and and and and Paul George, I don’t think you’ve watched enough tape. I
don’t think you qualify for this conversation.   This is the year that Brandon Miller has to up
his game, become consistent, do everything that he needs to do to stay healthy, and I’m predicting
once again that the league will have a Charlotte Hornets problem. Number three, the englorious
rookies. No one in this rookie class would be considered on the level of a Carmelo Anthony
or a LeBron James or a Giannis attention. But what they will be considered as the guys
that are going to do their job. And y’all know my favorite saying from the party. I’m the guy that
knows who. You must be the other guy. Or I’m the guy that does his job. You must be the other guy.
When I look at Khan Canipo, Liam McNeely, Ryan Cochrrener, and even Scion James, I see guys that
are already buying into their respective roles. something that to me on the Charlotte Hornets,
even when they were fighting for the playin and going to the playin in LaMelo’s first two seasons,
I never felt like LaMelo was surrounded by guys that completely bought in to him being the guy.
You already had guys that were there like PJ Washington and Gordon Hayward and Terry Rosir and
guys that kind of made their bones in this league and you got this young wild card coming in. To me,
it was always a big bro, little bro relationship and absolute buy in, which is what it takes to
really get to the level that you need to get to, was never there. If you need an example, look
at Kade Cunningham and the Detroit Pistons. The Detroit Pistons have done a tremendous job
surrounding Kade with a bunch of guys that have bought in to what they’re building around him.
And because of the job that the GM has done and the organization in Detroit has done overall,
Kade helped them reap the benefits of making that decision, that conscientious decision to buy
into him and took them to the playoffs last year. To me, this is LaMelo’s turn with a young core
and a young group of englorious and glorious uh, you know, role players that are not going to be
the flashiest, not going to give you the highlight reel plays night in and night out, but simply are
specialists that are able to compete and do their job. And to me, when you’re building championship
DNA or playoff pedigree, you need those guys. number four through what 10 in the rotation that
are willing to buy in and do their job. Khan Canipo, a marksman out of Duke. We’ve talked about
him at Nazium. I think it’s going to be critical if he ends up being in that starting lineup being
a pressure release valve for Brandon Miller and LaMelo Ball that allows them to stretch the
floor. And this year, his biggest focus needs to be knocking down those three balls and also
on defense, not being an elite defender, but a respectable defender that on helpside defense
and backside defense is not a hindrance. He’s a positive versus a negative. Liam McNilly 68 out
of Yukon. The highest rated three-point shooter in basketball coming out of high school basketball
two years prior. A guy that dealt with some injuries at Yukon where we saw several flashes of
him with the ability to be a five-star blue chip prospect on a college level. Do I project them as
that on this NBA level? Not necessarily. But from what we saw in summer league, we saw that that
shot translates. Also, he has a knack for scoring the basketball off of the bench. Liam McNeely
needs to be a wildcard piece that on any given night can give you between 10 to 20 points. And
if you get that from Liam McNeely and that will to compete and the energy that he brings to the
lineup, I think once again this is another reason why the Charlotte Hornets might be a problem in
the NBA. Number three, can somebody please get the Charlotte Hornets a big man that can stay healthy
and compete? And I’m hoping that Ryan Cochrunner, who I call Brook Lopez Jr., is that guy. fourtime
Big East defensive player of the year at once projected as a lottery pick as early as his
sophomore year. He foregoed going to the draft to stay at Kraton. And he produced some good numbers.
But many questions remain as he comes onto this big boy roster of the Charlotte Hornets with the
only other notable centers being Musa Diaate who was a demon and a beast when it comes to competing
on the offensive boards but lacks a lot and leaves a lot to be desired offensively overall and at
times defensively. and a aged out fake point guard slash center in Mason Plumbley. Ryan Cockrinter
because the Charlotte didn’t make any other moves for a veteran center in the off season has an
opportunity to really get rotational minutes if not in the starting lineup. is going to be
very important for Ryan Caulbrunner to be a line of defense that deters oncoming offensive players
that are penetrating to the rack from just being a layup line like we’ve seen in years past with
the Charlotte Hornets. I’m looking forward to Ryan Cockr Brener being a piece that helps to make
the Charlotte Hornets scary. Now, as we transition from number three, I want to go to number four,
which is the most important yet nuanced part of the Charlotte Hornets becoming a scary season,
a scary team this season. We need dogs. We need guys that are uba canuba dog food. And I feel
like in the off season, that’s exactly what the Charlotte Hornets did. To me, the only real dogs
on the team, as I have seen consecutively over the first five years of of LaMelo’s uh time in
Charlotte, have been LaMelo at times, but mainly Miles Bridges. We had Montre hero for a spell, but
that went out the door quicker than the cut could believe. Miles Bridges has really been holding
down that mantle. But with Charles Lee and Jeff Peterson going out and making a trade for Yousef
Nerkage for Colin Ston that brings a undisputed competitor and dog in the locker room that even
on losing teams has always been known to compete. I feel as though if you could be a fly on the wall
in those Charlotte Hornet training camp practices, the battles and the noise we will hear, the
talking we’re going to hear from LaMelo and Colin Ston will be legendary, but it will only
make them better because as the quote says, iron sharpens iron. He gives you a guy off of
the bench or in the starting lineup with LaMelo that allows LaMelo to play all ball or off the
bench can help run the offense and not only run the offense, he’s shooting the three at over 40%
and he’s competing defensively. I feel like the young bull Colin Ston with this young team in
North Carolina with the Charlotte Hornets is a critical piece to make the Charlotte Hornets a
scary team. Number two in that fourth segment, Trey man. Trey man has one job and one job alone.
Score and score at will. Become a piece in the NBA that once uh like a Jordan Clarkson once
was that as soon as he comes off the bench, you know he’s a bucket, a Lou Will type, someone
that the defense always has to account for when he’s on the floor. Because with the firepower of
LaMelo and Brandon Miller, you’re not going to be able to allocate the resources to try to also stop
a Trey man. Trey I has to be that X factor when it comes to scoring the basketball off of the bench
for the Charlotte Hornets. And he’s another one of the main reasons why I feel like the Charlotte
Hornets are going to be a scary team. Also, Spencer Denwitty. No one has talked about Spencer
Denwitty. No one has discussed the move that the Hornets have made for Spencer Denwitty getting him
on this roster. With Spencer Denwitty, you got a guy around 66 and 67 that can play the point
guard, play the two, play the three. Really a positionless basketball guy that had a sneaky good
season in Dallas last year, averaging around 14 to 15 points a game. And when Kyrie went out and
when Luca was traded, he was one of the reasons why the Dallas Mavericks were able to compete
and get into a playin position because he had many nights where he was dropping buckets after
buckets and clutch buckets at that. I think it’s very important that people start acknowledging.
Last but not least, continuity. We are now in year three already of the Rick Schnell and Gabe Platkin
ownership experiment. Also the third year for Jeff Peterson and the second year for Charles Lee. If
ever they’re going to start to make an imprint, it needs to be this year. I feel like with the time
that the Charlotte Hornets have spent investing in this organization, investing in a new arena,
putting money into their star player, LaMelo Ball, and now surrounding him with a few pieces, no one
elite, but a few pieces that would make you want to start seeing growth and results. I think the
continuity of Charles Lee’s system has to show itself this year. If Charles Lee and the Charlotte
Hornets have not made strides by game 20 where you’re starting to see some positive things and
things turn around, then I really think you have to start having a conversation about Charles Lee
remaining the head coach and what are you going to do as far as Lenelo Ball as your franchise
player going forward and the trade deadline. For all of these reasons, the rest of the NBA
content creators and the rest of the NBA itself are sleeping on the Charlotte Hornets. But you can
always count on us because we’re locked in on the teams that other guys really don’t watch. I think
the Charlotte Hornets and even the Washington Wizards have a chance to be very special this
year. But it’s going to come down to mindset, health, and continuity. But y’all let me know
what you think down there in the comments section below. We’ve been talking and we’ve been talking
long enough. Please make sure you share the video, like the video, subscribe to the channel. Once
again, remember to become a channel member. You’re in the house of the mighty, mighty lit
one. The best NBA content in the world. And I’m predicting that the Charlotte Hornets are going
to be a problem for the NBA this year. [Music]

The Charlotte Hornets have always been a team thats has been looked at as a none serious franchise. Since their inception in the late 1980’s the hornets existence has been marred by terrible ownership decisions, low level roster moves and over all bad team building. In this video we break down why this year maybe the year that the hornets finally start to turn things around with lamelo ball and brandon miller leading the way surrounded by competent role players.

  1. Cut it out slow down pump ya breaks. There isn't a thing going on with this team. Lived here since 01. When I vame they had a team. Since then, garbage! I seen Sean May eat his way out of Charlotte. Bad coaching since Silas left. 1 bad pick after the next. Poor mgmt. Melo playing out of position. I could fix the team for half of what they paying and do half better. But don't nobody ask me!
