Rangers vs. Astros Game Highlights (9/15/25) | MLB Highlights
Pretty amazing. The whole season basically boils down to this last home stand. Three against the Rangers, three against the Mariners. Mariners took the lead last night with their ninth win in a row. Now the Astros are part of the wild card picture. And that’s jumbled as well. And that’s what’s kind of interesting again about this home stand is the ability to be able to push the Rangers that much further down. If you go out and play good baseball, you’re able to slide right past them and focus on the Seattle Mariners. Yeah, the Astros going with Jason Alexander, one of their hotter pitchers in the rotation. The Astros have won nine of his 10 starts, including each of the past eight starts. Two-2 and that’s hit in the air left side of the infield. Kareah and now Pena going out into short left and he makes the catch. Crowd number one. One, two. Swing and a miss. Change up away gets Langford. First strike out for Alexander. And there are two away. So two out and nobody on for Jo Peterson as he grounds this one to the right side. Jos Altub waits for And that is a great start to this one for Jason Alexander. One, two, three. First, Jack Lighter will be on the mound for the Rangers tonight. Well, as we look at our TXU energy power stats, Jack Lighter 9 and8 on the season in 26 starts, 381 RE has 64 walks to 130 strikeouts. That ball hit hard the other way and that’s a base hit. Well, Jeremy Pñena hits the fast ball as well as anybody in the lineup and he hits it into right field for a base hit to start this one. Alvarez pretty keen take and he draws the walk. So see little walk to start the game. Kareah a right-handed hitting third baseman batting 274 330 on base percentage 13 homers 50 RBI’s. The 10 dribbler softly hit out in front of the plate. Fill it by lighter. He slips and he throws it over the head of Burger. That’ll score a run as Pñena comes home. Alvarez gets the stop sign at third. Now he runs through it. The throw to the plate. Alvarez gets in standing up on the error by Lighter and the Astros are up two to nothing. And now Alvarez is a bit shaken up as he’s being tended to by the dugout rail. Yeah, he slipped when he touched home plate, the rubber home plate and he slid across the plate and did something to one of his extremities. That is not what you were hoping to see at any point, especially early in this series and early in this home stand. Yordon hobbles down the stairs. You tell Lighter’s a little jumpy on the mound as that hit right around the lower chest it looked like of of Walker. Meyers right-handed hitting center fielder batting 310. Two two pitch fast ball strike three call at 97 mph on the outside corner. He freezes Meyers. First punch out for Jack. And Victor Keratini is coming up next. Swung on hard ground ball but right at Moore. He knocks it down, picks it up and throws him out. That was hit 105 miles an hour, but fortunately right at Dylan Moore. Back-to-back strikeouts for Alexander. He now has three in the game. Two out. It’s supreme confidence in that pitch. He’ll throw it on any count. More than 70% of his strikeouts have been on the change up. This one towards Alt. Jose goes to his left and makes the play on Asuna. Six up, six down for Alexander. Bottom third of the lineup here. Young Hine, Dylan Moore. There’s a bouncer. That one is in left field. Base hit. Young was all over it. So Young aboard. That’ll bring up Jonah Heim, their catcher. Here’s the pitch. And it’s a ground ball. Should be two. Altuve has it. Falls down. Shuffles it to second out. Over the first out. A double play on a gun from Jeremy Pñena. Altuve was on his stomach when he slung that ball to Pñena on top of the bag. It’s amazing the Astros are able to turn that into two. The one two gets the popup. Pñena sneaks into the grass in front of his position. Makes the catch and that’s the third out of the inning. Jason Alexander has faced the minimum. He works to Zack Cole. Made his debut Friday in Atlanta. This is his first ever home game. He’s in the game right now because Yordon Alvarez left with an injury. And there’s a bouncer up the middle. Smith has it. That one almost took off to his left, but Smith grabs it against Cole. One away. Couple of ground ball outs for Lighter here. And even though he is not uh back to full command, Lighter working on the string of seven in a row set down as he takes on Jose Altuve. And here he pops this one up on the infield. Getting under it is more on the grass. He makes the one-hand grab and the Astros go in order here in the third. We move along to the fourth. Smith popped up to the shorts stop his last time up hitting 125 against the Astros this year. Oh, he got that call on the edge. Josh Smith can’t believe it. It was pretty close to take with two strikes as Smith shakes his head on his way back to the dugout. Langford is on. He’ll slam on the brakes though and be content with the single. Right-handed batter, 29 years old. Slow one got him. Strike three. That was a change up outside. Burger way out front and over the top. And that’ll do it for Texas in the fourth inning. Five strikeouts now for Alexander. The Astros are 12th in the league in drawing walks. They don’t strike out very much. They tend to put the ball in play early, but got to get the ball close enough. Jack’s doing a good job of that right now. Here’s Keratini. He rolled out to second base his first time up. Oh, one delivery. Swung on and a fly ball to center field. Moving back a couple of steps to haul in his Langford. It’s an easy one, two, three inning for Jack Lighter. And he has set down 11 Astros in a row. Alexander struck out five. He’s allowed two hits. He’s faced one over the minimum. Got a double play. Paint it to his left and he can’t get it cleanly. Garcia is on to start the fifth. Rangers need to take advantage. One on for Josh Young. And there’s a swing and a highf fly ball deep left field. You don’t have to get it far. He got it far enough into the Crawford box seats. And that error cost the Astros a run in the inning. Josh Young represented the tying run and he ties the game. One swing of the bat makes me feel a lot different about this game. Moore gets in the scoring position. And a base hit now by Josh Smith could untie this two-2 game. Now the next one, that’s a base hit out into right field. Here comes Moore. He’ll score. Josh Smith has given the Rangers a three-2 lead. Team baseball. Moore hustling down the line. Gets the base hit. Steals second, first pitch. And Josh Smith ropes a 91 mph fast ball bottom of the zone middle into right field to give the Rangers the lead. Walks Langford here. Going to be the first walk allowed by Alexander. Jobatada pops out of the dugout and that’s going to do it for Alexander. So Alexander will fail to complete five innings for the first time in 11 starts with the Astros. Steven Oak coming in. 3-2 Rangers lead it. Two men on for the Rangers with two out. Swing and a miss. Feeble cut at a slider away. Peterson strikes out and Ochre strands a couple of inherited runners, but the Rangers score three. Now, this has been the most challenging inning for Jack Lighter as uh his erra in this inning 589 for the year. Playoff game energy now. Diaz hits this. He thinks he has a chance. So, he puts pressure on the infielder. And unfortunately, Smith doesn’t make a great throw. So that’ll end the string of consecutive batters retired by Lighter at 11. Here’s Zack Cole. He grounded out his first time. He’s in Alvarez’s spot after Alvarez came out with the ankle sprain. Made his big league debut in Atlanta on Friday. Joe Espada and Dana Brown saying they were looking for a spark from the offense and he sure gave them one on Friday. Took the first pitch cutter he saw in his big league career and hit 114.3 miles an hour. One, two, and Cole hammers it deep to right. Garcia is back at the wall. Looking up. See you later. Zack Cole. His second big league homer. It’s a go-ahead two-run shot. Four to three Astros. He keeps doing that. He’s going to steal that king moniker. Zack King Cole. Zack Cole has turned the game around with a two-run homer. It’s 43 Houston. Well, the Rangers had just scored three runs in an inning that started with an error. This inning, Houston strikes right back with two runs of their own and an inning that started with an error by the Rangers. What a crazy game baseball is. The tying run in scoring position. The go-ahead run on board here at first. Two away. Okay, best hitter, best situation. That’ll bring up Wyatt Langford. There is a ball through the hole into left field. Charging it is going to be Sanchez. Here comes the throw home. He is out at home plate. What a throw by Jesus Sanchez to keep the Astros in the lead four to three. Jesus Sanchez with a bullet to home. They throw out him and that’ll do it for the Rangers in the seventh inning. Lighter here recently has gone 99 pitches, 97 pitches, 93 pitches. So clearly something that he can do here coming back out for the seventh. 378 average for Pñena with two outs and runners in scoring position. this situation right here. Pñena into right center field falling quickly. Could Helman get there? No, it’s a base hit. Astros now lead five to three. Pñena strolls into second with double number 29 on the year. Well, they opted to leave Ryder in there to face Jeremy Pñena coach as quickly as he possibly can. He’s out of that Ranger dugout now. Zack Colbats facing Jacob Webb. Runner on second and two outs. There’s a line drive base hit into right. Pñena being waved around. Adulles Garcia’s throw will be not in time to second goes. He’s safe and the Astros lead six to three. The man’s been nothing short of electric. Big hit after big hit. He is having himself a night when he was starting the game on the bench. And Brian Deu on to try and get the final three outs. See what that rested right arm can do against the Rangers trying to close this one out. Helman with a clean single here to start the night. The leadoff man on. They need another base runner to get the tying run of the plate as Shash Young will stand in. Tapper towards the middle. New second baseman Mauricio Duban steps on the bag, takes his time, throws the first. Just like that, the Rangers down to their final out with two outs, a walk, and an opposite field hit. And the Rangers are one swing from tying it. And Cody Freeman, the final hope for the Rangers representing the tying run. Ground ball. Kareah to his left will go to second to Dubon covering. And that’s the ball game. Astros win it six-3, taking the first game of this huge home stand. They increase their lead over Texas by a game.

Nooooooooo!! I wanted to win the Silver Boot now! Oh well, we'll just win it tomorrow. The Rangers were probably distracted by the Texans who were playing down the street. Oh well, at least it came at a cost for Houston. Not that I like seeing players get hurt. I'm not THAT evil. Let's take the Boot tomorrow Ranger fans! Oh and it looks like I'm first tonight! Woo hoo!🎉Rangersforever❤
post the jays
Thank you Lord for giving us ALL the talents and abilities to perform for your Glory. 😊. Amen.
Two bad errors, a horrific send of Heim by Beasley, Bochy letting Leiter come out for the seventh after 6 stressful innings…this was just a bad all around game. Absolutely winnable too.
Finally Benched Altuve Astros Are in Serious Trouble with Alverez Out
This is an all-around sloppy game by the Rangers. Terrible baserunning, errors out the wazoo, and the unclutchness we've seen from this offense all season. The Rangers 100% do not deserve to make the playoffs this season.
Damn rangers we really need these games man
Those Astros jerseys are top shelf!

The Anthonymartinez vs rangerbob series
Had to have this one. My prediction was, this game tells the tale of the season outcome.
The Rangers needed this game, but they definitely were not on their game. Lets get them in the next game. Whether or not they do well in the playoffs, they have to stop the Astros from getting there.🇨🇦
KING COLE
The Houston Astros are 82-69🔵⚪️🟠🚀
