I feel like with the players we have it's not really needed. Lebron could average 22 Reaves maybe 22 Ayton 17 Rui 13 And if the bench average at least over 8 we should be 👍

  1. We need all the points we can get. Our team doesn’t scream defense. I don’t see the consistency in Reeves yet

  2. It’s not about how much he averages, it’s about how much of a threat he can be that can lead to other things.

If he scores efficiently by himself, other teams have to adjust which usually means his teammates will be more opened.

  3. He doesn’t have to but why would he not. Brother has kicked off a generational spite run right now.

  4. That’s his game. He’s the best scorer in the nba. I haven’t seen anyone score like him since Kobe. He just goes off and will give you 20 points in a 9 minute stretch and it just looks so easy

I guess harden and Embid too but their game isn’t nearly as fun to watch as Luka’s

  5. I don’t think so.

But if JJ creates a good offense, Luka could easily get 30 within the flow.

1 open 3 per half off of set play. 6pts

1 lay up or floater or midrange J per qtr off set play. 8pts

    2 stepback 3s per game. 6pts

2 post ups per game. 4 pts

    5 FTs made. 5pts

Thats already 29 pts. If Luka gets hot, shooting wise easy 30+ pts.

Now if we rely to much on Luka PNR he would look always exhausted.

  6. The fact that he can sleepwalk to 30 is why he’s the most doubled player in the league

  7. Well he can get us a 20 pt lead in the first half and often in the 1st quarter. Saw that many times last season. From there our team has the advantage of playing from the lead high ground, it’s very nice to have.

  8. Lebron averaged 24.7 ppg after the all star break last year on 51/34/83 splits, while playing WITH Luka. Why is he dropping 3 ppg?

  9. He does need to and he will, the team isn’t that stacked that he can just score 25 and win

Especially in playoffs other guys will get shut down as we saw last year, need Luka scoring 30+ a night

  10. Luka scores 25+ effortlessly – like you could be watching him and not realise that he did that in like 10-15 minutes. He is also the best playmaker in the league imo, which opens up tons of possibilities for the offence. Lakers’ defence is not solid so they need to score as much as they can. Plus, him scoring is always a good motivator in general and if we want him to win MVP along with getting the Lakers to promise land, he needs to average well in all departments.

  11. I want to see Lebron take a step back and let Luka shoulder the scoring. Like Kareem when Magic, Worthy, Scott stepped up their offense.

    Luka 27
    Lebron 22
    AR 19
    Rui 15
    Ayton 12
    Knecht 10
    Remainder of Bench 14

  12. It will be awkward but Reeves must accept his #3 role, and he cannot do it because of a contract year. Very tough situation.

  13. I feel like for them to be an actual threat, you need him supernova. I am talking about 30-8-9, which he has in him.

  14. He doesn’t have to but he’s the kind of guy that rolls over and scores 30 a night pretty easily

  15. With the score today 28+ isn’t carrying your team’s offense. Along with assists? It could be. But overall Luka has to be our MVP. Luka has to have an MVP season. The Lakers need a top 3 finish.

  16. I highly doubt we get anywhere without that level of scoring output from Luka. His playstyle means he’s both a volume scorer and creator; he needs the ball to play and when he has the ball he reaches that level in his sleep. If he’s not reaching 28ppg or higher it means he’s either not playing on-ball enough, which would be stupid, or he’s playing less minutes, which would be wishful thinking. Our team is not good enough to let him coast on less than 35min per game and get away with it.

Reminder to everyone that our offense was just as problematic as our defense, if not more so, in the R1 loss to Minny. We can reasonably hope that Ayton fills that good starting center need on that side of the ball but there’s no reason to get arrogant enough to think Luka doesn’t ‘need’ to average good scoring numbers.
