Charania: “Warriors owner went out and sat face to face with Jonathan Kuminga in the last month, and Joe Lacob essentially asked Kuminga, ‘Do you want to be here? Do you want to be with the Warriors?’ and Kuminga flipped that really and said, ‘Do you even want me?'”

  1. I respect what Kuminga is doing. This isn’t even a case of a guy angling for more money than he’s worth – he simply knows that the Warriors haven’t been playing him enough to really get paid whereas there are a bunch of teams out there who’d give him way more minutes and more money.

  2. Kuminga going scorched earth lmao. There’s no way the players aren’t on his side either if at least neutral.

  3. Respect, Kumimga.

He’s got absolutely fucked in this situation & doesn’t to be trade bait. Fair fucks. He was ALWAYS a project player.

  4. this kuminga situation has been bizarre. like I understand both sides point of view.being the warrior don’t want to pay Kuminga too much money. and I understand kuminga wanting to get paid and wanting more minutes. I would’t be surprised if kumiga gets traded tbh.

  5. Kerr saying he doesnt trust JK (when he’s being asked to win) in the summer of his free agency, after the DNPs, and years of lies, i dont blame JK.

Warriors are aiming for flexibility because they waited too long to get Steph a #2. So lets give JK a deal that gives us control, or makes him tradeable.

  6. The warriors have thrown kuminga to the side and then expect him to sign a team friendly contract…. He has every right to want a bigger role and more money if the warriors don’t want to give it to him let him go

  7. Why don’t they just pay him via some random LLC so they can keep their cap space? As long as they don’t put their plan in any emails a bunch of people will defend it and just say there is no smoking gun.

  8. This whole situation is weird.  If you don’t want the guy / don’t want to play him move on.  It’s no mystery why this guy is less than pleased…

  9. Kuminga closed the 2024 season averaging 20ppg in 30mpg on 55/38/78 splits where he absolutely forced Kerr’s hand into starting him

Once he got into the starting lineup, they went 18-11, a 51 win pace for a team that won 46 on the season.

His reward? Kerr gives him just 20mpg to start the 2025 season, and proceeds to bench him just three games in.

Kerr gives him no PT in the playoffs until Steph goes out, and Kuminga actually dominates over a four game span against a great Wolves defense well equipped to stop him. He averaged 24ppg in 31mpg on 55/39/72 splits

The Warriors have honestly fucked this kid over. I get that he’s not perfect, but he’s also hardly had a chance. He plays well when given minutes, but Kerr has him on the tightest leash in the league and ices him out constantly. No wonder he can’t find a rhythm or play as well as they’d like in the system – how could he when he’s handled like this?

  10. Kuminga has a point , do they even want him there tbh

It’s hard being a player on a team wherein your own coach hates you

  11. Kuminga to Lacob- I have the high ground.

Seriously though the season is starting in about a month and the Warriors desperately need to sign Hortford, Melton, and Cody Martin. Every day this isn’t resolved, Kuminga has more leverage. I would hold out for more. Warriors will cave and switch the team option to player option.

  12. What are the Warriors thinking at this point? They clearly don’t want the guy, they just don’t want to “lose the asset”.

I hope he walks. There’s no reason to work at a place they don’t want or appreciate you if you can find employment elsewhere that does.

  13. I wanna take the time to talk about the players the Warriors have drafted in this historic run. From Wiseman, Moody, Kuminga….they’ve either been busts or “hoo hum”. OH, those three named? All were within the lotto, with two being top 10 picks.

This to me is a story where the vets won the titles, but the coaches couldn’t incorporate the rookies, and now the front office is trying to do their job which is trade for more vets as it’s obvious the coaching cannot coach younger talents. A successful mess that is running against the clock.
