Yes, Nutting is a plague on this storied franchise. But I love this game and the unique history of this team. As long as they are the Pittsburgh Pirates I will be rooting for them.

  1. Yes! I have found that I’m perfectly capable of being a fair-weather fan, though. Helps keep me sane and my priorities in order.

  2. Love this. Real fandom chooses you.

Hate these people from a city near a given team, that root for like the Dodgers, Chiefs, and Lakers or whatever. Hometown loyalty is the best!

  3. You are allowed to love the Pirates but also to strongly dislike the current state of the team. Feeling both ways does not make you any less of a fan.

It’s perfectly normal for something to be two things at the same time.

  4. Part of me thinks it’s hilarious how bad we are.

The reason WHY we are bad is what truly destroys me. Fuck Bob Nutting.

  5. If you’re from the Pittsburgh area you root for the Steelers, Pens, and Buccos. It’s as simple as that.

  6. Oh, cool. So in a few years, when the stadium lease runs out and Bob sails away with the team and it’s history, you’ll finally be free =p

  7. I’m never gonna root against them, but I definitely don’t have to love the mismanagement. It’s not cool to see your guys out on the field and be like “(insert literally any position player) sucks!” It’s not their fault that they’re AA-AAA ceiling ballplayers dressed as major leaguers. Nothing against (again…insert what-have-you), I wouldn’t expect them to say no to a major league contract, but the reality is that a large percentage of these guys are not everyday Major League talent. It’s definitely unfortunate and I’ve no ill will toward them, but they shouldn’t be in the position they’re in. Can you even imagine what Skenes would do to a lineup like this? 20 strikeout single game record would be no more lol.
