Jake Browning threw for around 200 yds chucked up 3 INTs to the Jaguars and the Bengals won by 4. When Bryce threw 2 INTs to the Jaguars we lost by 16… Jalen Hurts put up 101 passing yds against the Chiefs and 0 passing TDs and the Eagles won. Josh Allen threw for 148 yds and no passing or rushing TDs and the Bills won by 20. Michael Penix Jr. threw for 135 yds and no passing TDs and the Falcons won comfortably. Hell, Geno Smith threw for 180 yds and chucked up 3 INTs and the Raiders still had a chance in that game up until the end. My point in saying this is that Bryce Young cannot afford to be anything short of flawless for this team to have a fighting chance every week. Do I think that Bryce Young is the answer for the Carolina Panthers? No. But there are less than maybe 5 qbs across the NFL that could have success with this team(much less consistent success) and I'm tired of people thinking that we can just pick up some other qb and become a winning team all of a sudden. This is not a post to cry and make excuses for Bryce, I'm past the point of seeing him as the savior for the Carolina Panthers. I'm just saying it's gonna be time to wake up and smell the coffee when some competent organization picks him within the next few years and he has actual success.

Having a good defense that can stop scores and get turnovers is what the team needs
People are looking for a scapegoat and not only is the qb the easy answer. But people want to be right about their initial takes on Bryce. He plays well, he makes plays that very few QBs can make. He’s had a turnover problem so far this season, but the last 10 games of last year in my opinion show that we need to just keep him through his contract. The qb class next year is not good. Keep building the team, if we move on in 2027 fine, but he’s shown enough to finish the year and play next year imo. These graphics show wins are not a qb stat, we are not a good football team. Bryce is not the reason we aren’t winning games.
I if Bryce doesn’t turn the ball over early that game is maybe different. I get the turnovers weren’t solely on him but acting like he needs to be perfect feels like you’re giving him a big time break. Any time a game has been competitive it’s felt like we’re waiting for him to commit a turnover.
Yeah people will hate on Bryce, sure he makes bad play he’s young and qbs go through growing pains but he’s improved every year and shown (last year) he’s capable of making game winning drives. This team is still far away from being competitive but still heading in the right direction imo. The big problem rn with BY is the turning over mostly the fumbles/ slow starts. I still believe in Bryce his rookie year was a right off you could’ve put prime Brady on that team and they only would’ve won 4-5 games
So we should look to fire Canales after this year? Evero?? Dan Morgan??? All of the above????
Because I totally agree
Bryce is subpar and needs the defense to step up but the defense is just as bad.
There is improvement here:
Against the Jags
18/35 for 154, one td, two turnovers
Against the Cards
35/55 for 328, three tds, two turnovers
The secret is probably to play up tempo, feed TMAC, and bench XL.
I like this post. I was telling my buddy how razor thin our depth was. Zavala is such a drop off from Hunt it’s insane. Our LBs are terrible. Ransom is the only good safety…and he isn’t that good yet. Renfrow and Tmac are the only receivers on the roster. Tremble is the only blocking TE and he isn’t great at blocking…and we want to run. And people think Bryce is the problem.
the defense allows 20 points and by has to be nearly perfect?
They only scored 10 points when they had to start on their side of the field. We kept turning it over and we had a punt returned to our side to start a drive.
No. He just needs to not turn the ball over 2-4 times per game. Yes, the defense puts more pressure on him. That’s true. But our defense didn’t force him to turn the ball over twice in the first quarter
He doesn’t need to be nearly perfect just not look incompetent and play like dog shit for the first half of the game. He looks awful when he’s not throwing to tet so give it to him 15 times a game because if I remember correctly he was like 4-6 for 22yds without Tets 3 rec 50 yards I believe.
So you’re 100% right that this is not winning because of NY. It’s it like the defense is doing it’s job and the Oline it’s job and he’s missing a ton of reads.
But the bug thing so far is turnovers. He’s almost singlehandedly out the team behind with turnovers that are mostly his fault.
But yes, I think he’s not been great but he gets a lot of blame that should go on easily one of the worst defenses in the krgaur and a bottom 10 bottom 5 Oline play so far. You aren’t winning with that.
Just stop turning the ball over so much. That will at least give us a fighting chance some weeks.
either way we really need to rebuild the rest of the team first and we arent even close. bryce could play out his rookie contract and HOPEFULLY thats enough time to field a decent team and make a decision
Notice how the last 3 QBs also had 0 turnovers. How does that compare with Bryce?
Honestly, great analysis
This team is not winning anything
Not giving up 2 interceptions (he got saved on one with a flag.) and a fumble. Would probably help his case as well.
Not Bryce. The entire team.
Yeah i dont got how people can watch Bryce take the snap, immediately come under pressure, and then blame him when it goes poorly. Even elite qbs can crumble when they have no pass protection.
Replacing Bryce would almost certainly make the team worse unless you think we’re going to replace him with a top 5 qb somehow.
Well said
Bryce needs a solid line and a reliable defense. He can’t make decisions when he has to constantly scramble or his protection immediately collapses.
If he has more time then Tmac can go out to get separation for a deep play, Coker/Renfrow in the slot, Chuba as a safe dump off, and XL cheering from the bench
55 pass attempts in a game is fucking obscene. Our average in 2024 was 32.
Didn’t realize Bryce needed to be on a pitch count
Well.
These are things that happen when you aren’t a very good team. Guys start trying to do too much.
And the ceiling for this squad was always going to be like 7 wins, even if things went reasonably well. Instead, things have ranged from middling to calamitous through two games depending on who and what we’re talking about.
So, here we are.
Bryce needs the opponent’s defense to be in prevent.
