[Slater] The message from Jonathan Kuminga and his agent Aaron Turner to the Warriors this week: Flip the team option to a player option and Kuminga will sign deal and buy-in to mission of getting Steph Curry another title. GSW has been reluctant to add a player option in any offer.

  6. Neither side wants to remain in this business relationship, and yet its getting dragged out. Just end it and let him leave bruh. Your coach doesnt even like playing him. Truly a waste of everyones time

  7. Like with Jalen Green, the player option makes it a bad deal because it eliminates the upside for the team.

    If he breaks out, he’ll opt out and have to be paid. If he doesn’t break out, he’s probably not worth the deal.

    Also, his agent framing this as necessary for Kuminga to “buy in” to the mission of winning a title is such bad optics.

  11. Seems like a no brainer. Warriors get their contract that can be traded, Kuminga gets his player option and is even willing to be a team player vs only wanting to be traded.

They need to just trade him and either watch more film on younger high IQ’d players that can help them during a 82 game stretch or just get someone young like Kuminga who cost less and just as efficient. Dude isn’t worth all of this time especially with all the talent coming into the nba rn. Dudes irrelevant 5 years from now.

  19. This Kuminga Cap holder beef feels like endless. Honestly, if GSW doesn’t want him, why don’t just let him become a UFA. This QO negotiation has prevented GSW from making any meaningful addition for the nearly whole offseason.

  27. Why should the “buy-in mission” be to get someone else a ring that already has 4 rings? Is that supposed to make a player excited?

  30. Is it really that bad giving him a player option? There is no conceivable immediate turn around after the Steph era anyway and the market isnt that great for both parties. I wont be surprised if the Horford signing doesnt come thrpugh while Melton/GP2 are the only players that are probably gonna sign in after JK.
