Should Brad Keep Or Trade Simons Before The Start Of The Season?

  1. Well they are actively trying to trade him but it doesn’t seem like there is a buyer at the moment. It takes two to tango and the Celtics are likely looking to shed money and/or not take on long term money. so it would seem that a trade at the deadline would be more likely for him.

  2. Keep him. See how the team looks with him. Give him a lot of exposure. Maybe someone offers a trade package and gets us under the 2nd apron.

  3. I think he’s worth keeping and boosting his value and then do one of two things

Either he learns to be an average or better defender and his offense remains what it was and we keep him long term, because at that point he’s a valuable piece, or his defense doesn’t get there and his offense still pops and we move him at the deadline when he’s most valuable and someone gets desperate

I’m thinking Milwaukee, Orlando, Dallas, Detroit, Houston, Minnesota would all be teams who could see themselves as near contenders at the deadline and adding Simon’s could push them over the top

As far as what I think will happen; I think he probably gets traded simply because we could better use his salary elsewhere, but if his defense looks passable I wouldn’t be against keeping him at 15-20 mill per long term

  4. I like the idea of keeping him. Another team has to want him to trade him, and doesn’t hurt to have another on ball creator when our bench looks like it does. If Scheierman or Gonzalez really step up in those roles then I think that’s more incentive to move him, but right now we should be getting the most out of Simons to re-sign him or get the most back in a trade that we can.

I don’t think we’re really in a rush to contend so there’s not that much downside of seeing how this plays out

  5. I think if we want to compete, we keep him for now. Both for the sake of him being a solid scorer and a valuable asset to our offense, and for letting him hopefully show out and up his trade value if we find ourselves in a position looking in from the outside. I don’t think we’ll be in that position, so maybeeee we even deal him to a struggling team as he’s still pretty young and could help lead a struggling franchise’s offensive unit.

If we don’t want to compete, trade him now.

  6. He can be a valuable 1v1 practice partner for our defenders lol. Let him raise his trade value first. Unless people get injured in the preseason, I think most teams are set on checking out their offseason stash.
