PANIC TIME for the Kansas City Chiefs? 😳 ‘They’re NOT ON THE SAME PAGE!’ – Louis Riddick | Get up

We got the Eagles and the Rams getting set to go headtohead this weekend. Drop a bomb on that game. Like Gary Payton and Sean Kemp. Let’s go here. Uh oh. Oh, Hembo just threw more paper. Okay, go ahead. The Eagles have played the Rams several times in the last few years. And the issue is this. The Rams don’t beat the Eagles. The Rams could be the hottest team in all of football if they just hadn’t played the Eagles twice. the Sunday night game last year where Saquon went for about 600 yards in LA and then the playoff game where the Rams came valiantly back but fell short. Other than that, the Rams have won every single game they have played excluding for last year’s week 18. The Rams have gone 9 and0 in their last 11 games that don’t involve the Eagles. My point here is this. I I think they’ve got a little vengeance to go for. I think they might have Yes. And they have a score to settle here. And that when you look in that building, there’s a lot of pride there, too. This isn’t going to just be a walkover because it’s at 1 p.m. I think the Rams are going to give the Eagles fits if the Rams walk out of that building with a win this weekend was all the conversation early and look it’s such a week- toeek league, but all the conversation has been about the Packers and then it becomes the Eagles and the Tushbush and all the rest of that and and maybe Detroit bouncing back in a big way. Should the Rams be in that conversation when we talk about the biggest of the big boys in the NFC? Well, I think the Rams were always in it. I think what kind of knocked them out of it was Matthew Stafford’s availability when we were talking about training camp and his back. But I think you’ve seen through these first two weeks. You see the way Matthew Stafford threw that ball last week some of these throws. I mean you see these these right there. I mean that honey hole shot, the seven routes that he’s hitting off of play action, the no look passes that he’s hitting. I mean throwing to his left, fading to his left. He’s doing some things. I’m sitting there going, how is he still being able to throw the football like this from these different arm slots? He is as locked in as I’ve ever seen him. And I’m telling you, Devonte Adams, what he has added to that wide receiver court and their ability to be explosive down the field, that young defense. Hey, look, they were that far away. We all know it. We’ve talked about on this show numerous times from knocking Philly off last year. This is a heavyweight battle here early on. The Rams are going to kind of announce once again, don’t forget about us. That’s why in the offseason when we talk about what’s the biggest offseason acquisition, oh, George Pickkins to Dallas is exciting as well. But Devonte to the Rams when you heard Puka Nakua talking about like I get to sit there listen to him be on the field with him. My game improves, we improve. That’s what we’re expecting. This is a team that I I almost picked to be in the Super Bowl. I was worried about Matthew Stafford back. I was worried about Matthew Stafford’s back and now I’m wishing I hadn’t because they I literally think this team can win it all. They’ve got the good defense, too. People don’t associate them because those kids were so young last year. People will be reminded how good that defense. Yeah. And and they talk, which I appreciate. Also, watching that defense play is really impressive. But I think the the point that we started with, Matthew Stafford has a highlight film worth of throws just in the first two games this year. Like if you put together his best throws, you might think that he was the greatest quarterback to ever play the game. Some of those throws that he’s making. All right, next up. Sher Bomb comes from Minnesota. What’s up with the I know everyone thought the sky was falling with JJ McCarthy’s injury news. I don’t think the season has lost at all because JJ’s down. He will come back. I also think Carson Wentz might be the perfect backup for JJ McCarthy and I think they could be just fine with Carson Wentz. My Trager bomb is at the Vikings internally there. They feel very good right now and Wentz had a really good few weeks leading up to this and they feel really good handing the reigns over to him. They play a fellow backup in Jake Browning this weekend. I think the Vikings are going to be okay and will hold serve while JJ McCarthy is out. So, here’s the thing, and look, we don’t even know exactly what JJ McCarthy is destined to be yet either, but a year ago when he got hurt and there turned, oh no, Sam Darnold, they’re done. There would be nothing less there would be nothing more unusual about Carson Wentz resurrecting himself playing for Kevin Oonnell than there was about Darnold a year ago. Yeah. And I think that veteran quarterbacks probably are more comfortable in the system with KC, too. I think that some of the things that you have to learn because the answers are going to be there. That’s the way that we feel about those offense. Being comfortable about finding those answers is something that you would trust a veteran more than you would a first or second year quarterback. Yeah, I think you know anybody who has played in that offense will tell you that that’s the number one thing you said the word answers that this offense always does have answers. And I think for a guy like Carson Wentz, that’s that’s exactly what you want right now. Even though you are a veteran, you want to be able to go into a system and go, look, I don’t have to go searching. I kind of know it’s built in that these guys have had a track record of developing guys like myself who were kind of like on the maybe some people think on the last legs of their career and all of a sudden you have a resurgence and look I don’t think we haven’t heard the last of JJ McCarthy. You’re right. I know like after week one in Q4 when in the fourth quarter against the Bears we were like there it is and then last week we were like ah no it’s not you know cuz we’re like all over the place here. I think the story there’s a lot to be left. All right let me get to the last one here because this is the one that we really want to focus in on a little bit. The Kansas City Chiefs are 0 and2. Peter, talk to 0 and2. They played two really good teams. They lost in Brazil to the Chargers who have proven to be awesome. Of course, they lost to the Eagles in a heartbreaker. If they lose to the Giants on Sunday Night Football, it is officially panic time in Kansas City. Yeah, that that’s why I said coming sort of off of that note that it feels like a must-win. Now, I think no one wants to say that because I think we all just think they’re going to win, right? Right. been the Giants had whatever it was that happened this week against Dallas was what it was. But the Chiefs, I mean, people want to say the dynasty is done. This the concern about the Chiefs offense. How concerned are we about the Chiefs? I’m very concerned. I think and you look at their star quarterback and I think that he also is behaving in a way that suggests that he’s really concerned. He seems frustrated and he also seems to be doing the the playoff version of Mahome. He’s trying to run people over. like this is week two. He did it in both of the games where he just seems frustrated and unnecessarily like this is first and 10. There’s no reason to do that, right? Get down. Him behaving in this way suggests to me that he’s angry and he’s expressing that anger uh by doing things that are putting his body at risk and showing the rest of his team like, “Help me.” It looks like he doesn’t trust Well, it looks like he doesn’t trust anybody to come to his aid. I mean, and we talk about all these quarterback injuries. You have Mahomes scrambling. you have his his feet being their whole entire rushing offense like that. That that to me is an issue and it’s just leaving him open to get hurt which you just cannot have. Not being able to click. They’re just not on the same page all the time. In particular, let’s take a look at these couple of these clips from the red zone where you just see just how you know just how close they are but so at the same time how far they are here. He has Hollywood Brown here down at the bottom of the screen running really what you call a snag or a return route on the outside. Clean pocket. So come out on time. This would be an easy completion. And look at where the ball goes. I mean, that’s just is something you don’t associate with Kansas City offense. Look at this one-on-one coverage here against Juju Smith Houston. He’s trying to get the ball to him. He can’t get off the line of scrimmage. The route is developed slow. So, he knows then he has to buy time and then he has to do Patrick Mahomes stuff. Then, he has to try and figure out, well, okay, one, I got to avoid the rush. Two, can I get my eyes downfield and find anybody? But, oh, nobody’s open. So, guess what’s going to happen? I’m going to take a sack. And then lastly, look, he’s trying to go to his guy. This is the route I was talking about early on in our production meeting. He wants to hit Travis on this shallow cross coming across the field. And look, Travis isn’t really running the route really hard. Patrick’s trying to lead him. And then you see Travis kind of like throw his hands up like like how did you miss me? And like if I’m Momes, I’m going why aren’t you running? So that’s I mean it’s this play after play after play. You see this kind of thing where every single play turns into schoolyard football, especially in the pass game. And guess what? Patrick doesn’t have the luxury of going, you know what, take something off of me. I’m going to turn around and hand it to him back. Oh, that’s right. We don’t have any. I’m the leading rusher. Problem here. Much of this was going on last year, and it was covered up by the fact that they just somehow kept winning. It was never clear how they kept winning. Their defense was ridiculous. They had a million things go their way, breaks go their way, and they have Mahomes, and so they kept winning. But all of a sudden, those games that ball bounces the other way on you twice, and it feels like there’s some reason for something. Two major things happen. The Rice suspension came right before the start of the season. That’s your best wide receiver. He’s not on the field. And then three plays into the season, they lose Xavier Worthy. I would also add this. The Chargers play the Broncos this weekend. If they win, they will be 3-0 and beating all three teams in the AFC West. And they’ll have the tiebreaker already over Kansas City. The Chargers are for real. Lewis and I had a chance to see them in person. Phenomenal call of the game. This is a dominant defense and an offense that hasn’t even gotten going yet. So, if you’re Kansas City, it’s different than other years where you can mess around and kind of figure it out. No, I the Chargers are real and they are legit and the Broncos aren’t going anywhere either. And this off and this off season in Kansas City, a lot of the talk was about how they got so embarrassed by the Eagles in the Super Bowl that they were coming back determined to be a different team. Like that was going to be the thing that that turned things around and so far it’s been not so good. And do you know what today is? Today is Patrick Mahomes 30th birthday. He turns 30 years old. He’s been to the AFC Championship game every season that he’s been the starter. And let me show you a couple of notes on Patrick Mahomes as he turns 30 among all-time quarterbacks before turning the age of 30. He is first in passing touchdowns. He is first in win percentage, slightly ahead of Tom Brady. He is first in playoff wins. and he also has won three Super Bowls before turning 30 years old. Brady and Aman were the other ones to do that. So Patrick Mahomes has put himself in the most rarified of air. You didn’t need me to tell you that. The the reality is when you’re his level of player, you’re going to have multiple errors, right? You’re going to have this era, the Kelsey and all that kind of thing, and then that’s going to fade away and there’s going to be another one. He’s got time for a whole other one. Brady had that. The question is, are we seeing that? if there is there going to be a lull in the middle. Is this going to be the beginning of that lull? You know, I I think with this season in particular, okay, so we’re talking about last year and then kind of like moving it into this year as far as that lull, especially when you’re talking about the weapons that they don’t have that they had early on in his career, namely a guy like, you know, Tyreek Hill and Micole Hardman. I don’t know. They just they’re just not operating at full strength yet. We are back on Get Up. Let’s play a quick game of factor fiction. Kmart, if someone said it is Super Bowl or bust for Green Bay this year, would that be factor fiction? I’m gonna say fact. Listen, I thought Jordan Love had the capabilities to be a Super Bowl winning quarterback, but then they got Micah Parsons and this defense that was already good turned into great over the first two weeks. This is a team that can win it all even in that division. So, definitely a fact. Talk about another quarterback, Lewis. If I said Justin Herbert should be in the MVP conversation, fact or fiction? Look, that’s a fact. And the number one reason why is because the young man is healthy. He is in the second year in this system being of plays being called by Greg Roman and Jim Harbaugh. He has a much more diverse complement of wide receivers this year. I mean you see Keenan Allen is back. Lad Manki looking as good as ever and that guy Quentyn Johnston going off. They haven’t even unleashed their running game yet to really balance out this offense. This team is on the rise and that guy is going to be someone you’re going to hear about all season long. Another divisional game with Denver this week. Dominique, if I said Mike McDaniel’s job is on the line this early tomorrow night against the Bills, is that fact or fiction? I hate to say it, but I think it’s fact. And I I think that they can lose this game and him not lose his job. But if it’s ugly, as ugly as it was in week one, I think Danny becomes kind of a a dead man walking and no one wants to have that around the organization. So, I think sadly job is already on the line. Very quickly, I mentioned earlier, can the fish save their coach’s job? You need to correct me. Yeah, they’re mammals. Dolphins birth. They breathe. To be very clear, listen, Peter, I mean, a year ago, the the Jets went to uh England and lost a game almost this early in the season. They had two wins at the time and they made a coaching change. So, it’s not it would not be completely unprecedented to see a move made this quick. It’ be early. And this is usually when you see either a trip abroad or when you have a long week. And if they get blown out in Highark Stadium on on Thursday, there will be people calling for his head. I I don’t think that’s the move just yet. And getting it from the Dolphins folks that I’ve talked to, it does doesn’t seem like the world is burning just yet in that building as much as it feels so on the fan message boards and here maybe on. Do you have any sense, Lewis? Because it felt like there were such good vibes in Miami like two years ago. The relationship between McDaniel and Tua. A lot can change. I mean, it has ch it has changed like that. What happened? It has. You know what? Because I don’t think they have like a homegrown internal like leadership structure in that locker room. that is, you know, that’s created by having a bunch of draft picks that really form the foundation of that football team. I just think it’s kind of it’s kind of like piece meal together. And when it’s going good, look, everybody feels good. And Mike had a lot of positive momentum going, especially his relationship with that guy with Tua. When it starts to crack, that’s when it can really tumble and go downhill fast. And right now, they don’t have name an alpha leader on that football team right now that is really homegrown, that has been there for maybe two contracts, who can really say, “Hey, look, we got to circle the wagons here and get this going.” name one. And it was it wasn’t just like Jaylen Ramsay. Losing Javon Holland was a weird one this offseason. They lost a lot of young players that they had invested time into. Then they had injuries in the training camp. It they were this close to beating the Patriots and yet it feels like they’re a mile away. Quick final thought. Kmart. No, it’s ugly. I mean, we’ve seen a lot of coaches go broad and get fired. Uh it’s at some point if he has lost the locker room or if there’s any doubt about whether he can write this ship, front offices move on from guys very quickly. So, if it’s not this week, they need to turn it around. I can tell you this from having gone down there twice over the past couple of years to do games, they love Mike down there. They really did. And quite honestly, it’s easy to see. Yeah, exactly. Management, the people who really matter, who make the decisions. So, for them to kind of like pivot and really to move away from him, it has to be much worse than maybe we even think. We’ll continue discussing those mammals a little bit later in the program. Three, as in week three, we do a week three watch. Kmart, what are you watching for in the third week of this season? I’m watching my game this weekend. And will Jaden Daniels even be able to suit up? Right now, he’s dayto-day according to head coach Dan Quinn with that knee sprains. Dan Quinn told reporters that he’s got to hit all the markers and it may not be until Friday that we get a real sense of what his status is. Uh, but this is a big concern if he’s not going to be out there. Lewis, we talked a little bit yesterday about the propensity that he has for taking big hits, sometimes maybe bigger than necessary. Does this set off a flag? I mean, the kid’s career just looks like it is going to be a rocket ship to the moon. This is the one concern, right? Yeah. I I think it’s it’s a time for him to re-evaluate exactly how he puts himself in harm’s way, when he puts himself in harm’s way, and how often he look, he doesn’t need to do it all the time. And you saw in that Green Bay game, and look, he took some big time shots that really were unnecessary. Yeah, we saw it in college. I remember the Old Miss game in particular where guys were like just picking him up and bodys slamming him. He’s not built for that. You don’t want him to have to do that. I think this is a time for him to reset and go, “Hey, look, I’m on the right on the right kind of path. Let me just make sure I can sustain it.” I hope that we can see him Sunday against the Raiders. Nick, next up, what are you watching in week three? Oh, this is going to be a showdown. Two of the best offenses in football put up 50 points last or last week, the um Lions did, and they’re going up against this Ravens team that put up over 40 in back-to-back weeks. I’m looking for these defenses to try to put up some sort of fight, but these offenses to blow up on Monday night. That’s our Monday night game this week, Peter. So fun and and such a different narrative around the Lions this week at this time as it was last Wednesday when the sky was falling. I was one of them who cited that hey Jarro Golf is three and 18 in games where Ben Johnson and Shawn McVey aren’t in his ear. Well, John Morton was in his ear and guess what? He put up 50 and five touchdowns. Can they carry that over on the road in a hostile Baltimore environment? I cannot wait for this one. This is a lot of people’s Super Bowl pick. It was people preseason picks. Ravens Lions certainly wouldn’t surprise anyone. Lewis, what are you watching for in week three? Well, it’s the Rams Eagles playoff rematch. There’s no question about it. This this is the biggest game of the weekend for me simply because of the fact that right now, so far through two weeks, Matthew Stafford looks as good as he ever has. And I think that’s the only thing that got us off of talking about the Rams in the preseason was could that back be actually a problem all season long. He’s as good as ever. The Eagles are still trying to find their way a little bit offensively, especially the passing game just like last year, but I think it will come around. And I think defensively they will figure out how to keep some of these explosive plays happening away from Quinan Mitchell, which is really a sore spot for them. Matthew Stafford will be probing that area of the secondary. Lot of great back and forth in this football game, though. This is a tossup. Well, Peter gave you the number earlier. In their last 11 games, the Rams are nine and two. The only two losses were both to the Eagles. They’re 9-0 against everybody else. That’s their side of it. The Eagles side of it is they are busy defending their signature play. They’re 2 and 0 and a lot of it has to do with their unstoppable tush push. You see it here against Kansas City. We saw it repeatedly. We see the offensive lineman firing early. You’re well aware of all the controversy that has ensued. Their left tackle Jordan Myada and his extremely regal accent pushing back on the criticism yesterday. I understand it. I understand the outrage. Uh what I don’t understand is them using it as an excuse to why we won the game, right? Um I think it’s incredibly disrespectful to our defense and our special teams who bowled out. That that pisses me off because we give so much to this game and to to you know kind of base off a a short yardage play that is a football play. Yeah. And say that we won the game off that but not the not how our defense played, not how our special teams have played. putting us in those positions. You know, I think it’s I think it’s bull crap. So, that’s the second time we’ve listened to that. And this time, I think I hear Nick Serriani talking like I I think what I hear is the coach in his locker room saying, “Hey guys, right? Hey, defense.” They’re not saying that you guys won this game, that you shut down Mahomes and Kelsey and those legendary plays. Hey, special teams. They’re not saying you guys did anything. They’re saying all we are is this tush push. That’s what now now that I’m listening to it again, that sounds like a coach’s message to his team in the locker room because coaches lie because because nobody’s actually saying that. Like we all said that the Eagles are the best team in football last year. They’re better than everybody and we recognize that they’re one of the best teams in football this year. Our issue with the tush push is not that we’re saying that’s the reason why they win. Our issue with it is, for me at least, it feels like tantamount to foul grifting in the NBA. Like, I know it’s legal, but it stinks to watch. Like, I want to see somebody take the game-winning shot, not throw their arms out and draw a foul to go to the line for the game-winning shot. I want to see Saquon Barkley in that offensive line try to run the ball against someone on fourth and one, not a foregone conclusion that we know. Like, it just takes the um the anticipation, the fun, and I get it on their side. That’s what they care about. They’re winning. I don’t blame them. Keep doing it. I just wish we had gotten it out of the game. [Music] Are you ready?

  1. Perhaps yalll wil respect Arron rogers and then boys careers more. Ifr already
Mahomes can't even have elite games to help them win and have seasons where he just carries ewrly wecan't Soon as mahomes and the chiefs come up excuses excuses excuses. I really hope the giants heard that disrespect and smack KC DEAD IN THE MOUTH sending them boys to 0-3

  2. Let’s think 💭 about this. So if Hurts/ Eagles 🦅 start at the their 20 yard line and drive 79 yards to the 1 yard line. They don’t get credit for that because nobody can stop 🛑 the tush push. This is ludicrous message to opposing teams defense it’s a simple answer. Stop the offense from getting to the goal line. What Dominque said is ludicrous

  3. The ‘tush push’ is not a football play. They line up offsides. It’s just ridiculous. My thing is every other team should be doing it and working at it to perfection until they can do it as effectively as the Eagles

  4. Brady made it to AFC championship with hardly any known receivers and no running game. So if Mahomes ever wants to be known as the goat don't want to hear any excuses about making the playoffs. They both also had great head coaches and Mahomes has an offensive minded coach not a defense

  5. Greeney clearly said “a lot of the reason we’re winning” is because of the tush push then has his co worker follow up and say “we’re not saying that’s the reason”. Yall confused

  6. Everyone is coming to protect the leagues golden boy Patrick Mahomes 😂 Ban the play! That's not going to stop the Eagles from winning! No one wants to discuss the missed throws or the interception or the fact that Mahomes is the team's leading rusher so far this season…
