Acquiring George was one of several requests made by Leonard and his camp, led by Leonard's uncle, Dennis Robertson, who outlined a series of asks for the Clippers in the days leading up to July 5.

Those requests included part ownership of the team, access to a private plane, a house and guaranteed off-court endorsement money, one source with direct knowledge of the talks said. They were the same requests that, according to The Athletic, Robertson made of the Lakers and the Raptors.

These verbal requests fell outside the boundaries of the league's collective bargaining agreement, and while the Clippers didn't say yes to them, they did say yes to others, according to a source with knowledge of the talks.

  4. Some people really can be shameless af man. What your nephew is one of the greatest players in the league and as his uncle and ‘agent’ you are entitled to ownership stake and various properties? How delusional is he and how hasn’t kawhi cut him off from his life earlier?

  8. Next CBA needs to have stricter language about players and player reps soliciting compensation in addition to player contracts and it should be informally called the Kawhi Leonard Rule.

  9. You know, I’m kind of surprised we haven’t gotten more leaks of what they wanted from the Lakers

    Like we’ve had plenty of drops about Aspire and even the Raptors but the Lakers has been mostly old information like the private jet (Though obviously the partial ownership stuff is new)

  25. Most of Lakers fans were completely devastated in 2019 when Kawhi signed with Clippers and spurned the Lakers. It seemed like it was a done deal from reporting and why would Kawhi want to join Clippers over Lakers. It didn’t make any sense in the world. Most of Lakers fans myself included have shitted on Jeanie Buss several times and now all this dirty money coming to light, Jeanie was absolutely right to turn down Kawhi. She made the right call in 2019. It was so tempting for her to had acquiesced. Kawhi was coming off a title run and you have LeBron and AD. The three of them together would be a favorite to win several championships and start a new dynasty. Jeanie hadn’t won a championship running the team. She made the right call. I got to give her credit for doing the right thing compared to Ballmer.

  26. There are two players in all of basketball history whose uncle could make this type of demand and most likely get it. Prime Michael Jordan and prime LeBron. Kawhi Leonard and his injury history sure as fuck don’t allow for his uncle to make these demands. This guy is fucking delusional.
