Los Angeles Angels vs Milwaukee Brewers – MLB 9/16/25 Full Game Highlights (MLB The Show 25 Sim)

Hello and welcome. Thanks for joining us. Inner league baseball on MLB the show. It’s the Los Angeles Angels and the Milwaukee Brewers. First pitch coming your way next. And now, please welcome your Milwaukee Brewers. Just about ready to roll. And towing the slab here, Jacob Miserowski. Chris, his strikeout rate this year among the best all time. He’s truly one of the elite strikeout pitchers in the league. I mean, strikeouts per nine off the charts. So the opposing team, they know they have their work cut out for him anytime they’re facing this guy or a guy like this that’s going to get the swings and misses. Pretty much in a class of his own when it comes to that category. Here’s Mike Trout and a major milestone is right around the corner. One home run short of 400 for his career. And that’s in for a strike. And away we go here in Milwaukee. Pitch misses and one and one. Well, triple digits on the gun. I I know there are more pitchers that can reach that now than in the past, but it’s still impressive to watch. and a curve ball is just outside. Back to back breaking pitches away, you get the feeling as a hitter that the pitcher is afraid of you, that he doesn’t want to challenge you. So, I think the confidence level is raised right here. Get out of here. Fast for a strike. And boy, that was the pitch. 3-1. You want to be really aggressive on the fast ball. Hard hit left side. Tosses across the first. One out in the top of the first. All right, let’s take a look at the Angels lineup. Big challenge for them today as they take on a pitcher who brings electric stuff and really racks up the strikeouts. Yeah. And it’s all about making good contact against a pitcher like this. You’re not going to get very many pitches to hit in an at bat, maybe even in a game. So, you’ve got to be ready zoned in in the spot where you think you’ve got the best chance and jump all over. It might be the first pitch in the at bat, so you better walk up there ready from the jump. If they can make early consistent contact, I think they’ll have a much better shot against it. Yan Mona, the batter now, as he swings and misses for strike one. And a big swing and a miss. Wow, that’s 89 on the gun and it’s a change up. It’s like good hitting if you’re looking for it, but because of the speed differential between the fast ball and that pitch, really hard for a hitter to get on time with it. One out. Base is empty. That’s inside. The 2-2 and misses inside. Foul ball and it remains a full cow. It’s a tough pitch, but in terms of the best pitch you’re going to get to hit in the at bat, that fast ball was down enough where you’re going to catch up to swing and this is ripped down the right field line way back there. out of here. He made him pay for that one and that gives him the lead. It’s one- nothing. He absolutely feasts on right-handed pitching and devours that one for a homer. And you can see that’s what he expects of himself at bat after at bat. He’s that confident. Knew what pitch he wanted to hit. Spent on some other pitches in this at bat. Was very patient and it paid off. So, one out, nobody on. And here is Taylor Ward. He has, as they like to say, let me guess, boo. Light tower power. That’s right. First pitch and he just misses. [Applause] outside. Miserowski maybe a little less aggressive on the mound right now after that home run, Chris. Yeah, it seems that way. You know, guys, they can come out, feel good, but then all of a sudden get touched up a little bit and they start trying to throw instead of pitch. They’re not trusting their stuff. One strike. One down, base is empty. Well, he’s been good for the most part. Is it going to take someone going out to the mound to maybe refocus him a bit? No, partner. Every pitcher is a little different. I I liken it to you. Sometimes you come in and you’re not as focused and I kind of do what it takes to get you on track and then you have a great show. Uh so perhaps it’s the same with him. Nobody really wants their rhythm broken up, but sometimes they need a little pickme up. One gone runner at first. Here’s Joe Adele. [Applause] Ball one to the right fielder. Ward the base runner at first with one out. [Applause] Next pitch misses outside. Two and 0. Two count. Great hitter at the dish. If you’re going to miss, you’ve got to miss outside the zone. You miss inside the strike zone, you’ll be asking the umpire for a new baseball. [Applause] Base knock right field. Quick throw back in. Lead runner holds it second with one gone. Well, patience and discipline paid off right there as he got into an advantage count. Got a fast ball middle of the plate, jumped all over it. Absolutely smoked that ball. Two on, one out. Moore digs in now. [Applause] And the first pitch misses for ball one. This might be the most pressure you put on this guy today. You got one run in. You got to try to get another one or maybe two. [Applause] That one in triple digits. Could use a ground ball here. Something in the infield. Runner at first base. Get two. Get out of this. [Applause] And the swinging miss. Sometimes being lucky is a swing and miss. If he makes contact with that pitch, probably hits into a double play [Applause] in the dirt. It gets to the back stop and two in scoring position now thanks to that wild pitch. With two on and one out, you’re just hoping you can get a double play ball to get yourself out of the inning. But now you’ve really got some work to do. Need a big strike out here. [Applause] Swing and a miss. Struck him out and he’ll be beating himself up on the way back to the dugout. Got a pitch to hit and just couldn’t get to it. I think that slider really caught way more of the plate than it was supposed to. Here’s Logan Davidson. Yeah, don’t need much damage here. Just a base hit. Likely will score two. And a first pitch fast ball is in for a strike. [Applause] kicks and fires. Fouled off. He was late. Two outs, two in scoring position [Applause] and a swing and a miss. Inning over and it could have been worse. Halo strike first with the solo shot. It’s now one- nothing. Major League Baseball is on the show. Back here in Milwaukee now, the starting pitcher in this one, Kyle Hendris. And Chris, pitching on the road has not been particularly kind to him. Yeah. And you don’t want to be too quick to say that he can’t pitch on the road. Sometimes, you know, it’s just a matter of luck. It’s not having a feel difference between the bullpin mound to the mound out there on the playing field. Don’t know what it is, but I know this. He’s got good enough stuff to overcome and get it done on the road as well as at home. So, we’ll see what he’s able to do in this one. Sal Freelick the leadoff batter as he looks at ball one. [Music] Next pitch in for a strike and a count even one and one and downstairs. Swag on. Belted. That’s back there. High bounce over the fence for an automatic double. That ball exploded off his bat and off the warning track as well as it bounced over the fence. It sounded really good, too. He just put together a really nice swing and just missed a home run. Runner in scoring position. No outs. Here’s the center fielder, Jackson Chorio. Good power. Not great in the OBP department. Swings through that one for strike one. No balls, one strike. Runner takes off for third. Pitch misses inside. Go to third. Save. That wasn’t close. That’s 20 stolen bases for him this season. [Applause] [Applause] And now two and one. You know, this guy’s great speed is in the back of that pitcher’s mind. If he can get on, it’s going to give him one more thing he’s got to think about. [Applause] That one out to right. Adele moves under it, squeezes it. One away. Batting third. The second base. Let’s take a look at the Bers lineup. A guy who’s been huge for them over the last month plus. S Freelick. Tops on the team in batting average. Boo. A guy who’s showing off some excellent bat-to ball ability when he digs in at the plate. You know, that’s useful if your team needs to get an inning going, get a leadoff man on, but it’s also incredible to have a guy like that in the lineup because he’s a run producer who can drive in runs if you got guys on base already. So, he’s a huge piece in this lineup. Bryce Tang, the next to hit takes ball one. Fre takes his lead at third with one away. That one misses. Now two and 0. Two to count. Milwaukee. Sliced hard but foul. You got this. Swang and a miss. Two balls, two strikes. [Music] Got it. Two away. Well, this is where the team aspect really comes into play on the offensive side of the game, right? I mean, missed opportunity to tie it up with the runner at third, one out, couldn’t put the ball in play. So, now it’s time to pick him up. And that’s where good teams, they go to. They operate on this level of next man up. That mentality is what causes them to win series, get into the postseason, and that helps keep the energy and morale high in the dugout. And now it’s William Contrarus. That one hit to right. Adele moves under it, brings it in. And that is that. Milwaukee leaves one. They’re down one- nothing. Back here at American Family Field, here’s the shortstop at the plate. Number 21 trying to pick up his first knock in the big leagues. Miserowski back to work. And that one off the outside edge. [Music] with a short stop. Takes the ball. Making the calls behind the plate in this one is Woody Keller. Yeah, and Woody does a pretty good job back there, Boo. He’s got a pretty fair strike zone most of the time. Maybe some inconsistency here or there, but usually he’s back there doing a solid job. Come on, Brewers. Hit on the ground to short into the outfield base hit. Had a good start to the inning. Well, that was one of those high percentage advantage counts where batting averages are just so much higher. He kind of rolled over on this pitch a little bit, but he got enough behind it to shoot it through for a knock. And you’ll take that anytime you can get him to find a hole. Here’s the Angels catcher. [Music] And that one fouled off. Go Brewers. That missed by a lot. And now it’s even one and one. Clearly didn’t come out of his hand the right way. Left that curve ball way up. One, two, waves at the bender for the strike out. Well, that’s a curve ball that I’m sure he wants back at the plate. Two strikes pitcher hoping for a bit of a mistake and I’d say in a very hitable location, but clearly the break was enough to get him to swing through it. And here’s the rookie center fielder. Good defender. He’s been inconsistent offensively. Fast for a strike. 01. Runner. Yes. Yes. Runner on the go. There’s a ball going to second. Usually when you see a team try to steal a base in the early innings, it tells you they want to be aggressive on offense, try to force the defense to make plays and slow them down. That’s exactly what they did right there. So, we’ll see if that caught stealing changes the offensive approach moving forward. Come on. Now a screamer into the outfield. Makes the play and it’s out number three. Angels held in check, but they still lead it one- nothing. [Applause] Bottom of the inning. Here’s the Brewers DH. Christian yellow. Sanker catches the zone at the knees. Line drive and that should be extra bases. Makes the turn and heads for second. And he’s got a leadoff double. Man, those are the types of hits where you don’t feel any vibration in your hands whatsoever. Such a good feeling. Loud contact leads to the double. I mean, you could tell it had extra bases written all over it as it jumped off of his stick. Runner in scoring position. No outs. Next for the Brewers, Isaac Collins. That pitch gets the corner. Strike one. In there for a strike at the top of the zone. 02 count. Both pitches on the inside part of the plate. Hitter is thinking, I don’t want to get beat here. This is a good time for something off speed away. Breaking ball inside now. One and two. Two two in the dirt. Runner at second. Nobody out. [Applause] That’s to third. Slides for the stop. Gathers and throws. Got him. Nice play. We saw a few skills on display there for the out. Technique was great. Reaction time was there and the slide was smooth. Watching that play come together was really fun. [Applause] Now here’s Jake Bowers. Let’s go. First pitch misses. [Applause] Runner at second here. One gone. [Music] And there’s the strike. Rudder breaks for third. Swing and a miss. Throw save. That’s a stolen base. And the tying run is now only 90 ft away. on the ground right side. Moore causes the first now. Two away as they get a run across. [Applause] Here’s the rookie third base. Third base, Hitler. Ripped to third. Monata tossed to first and the inning is over. So they get one run, one hit, no errors, and nobody left on. We head on now to the top of the third. All tied 1-1. And welcome back to the ballpark. Onto the third inning. And now batting Mike Trout. There’s something pretty special about a player hitting 400 career home runs. He’s one shy of that mark right here. So this could be an historic at bat. A strike right through there. That one at triple digits. Nowadays with advanced metrics and increased use of moving the infielders around, defense isn’t necessarily about making errors. Are you able to get to the ball? Are you able to position fielders where hitters hit the ball, but within the new shift rules? Not close with that one. And the count is one and one. in an area that goes unnoticed is the coach that’s responsible for positioning and then uh the research person that’s providing the information. So what we’re seeing in baseball so many more people behind the scenes that are contributing to the success between the lines and misses. It’s a strike out. Wow. Just great bite to that slider. Broke hard out of the zone and he just couldn’t hold up the swing. You know, as a hitter, that pitch is really hard to take and there’s just not much you can do with it. You know that. But you don’t want to get run up by the umpire. Here is Yoan Monata. He’s already homered here in this one. Swinging a miss as he was late. No ball. Monata 29 years old and he was born in Cuba. Let’s go. That’s a bullet, but it goes foul. Tied up here in the early going. Strike three. And that’s Joe. tasked with one, two, and three to start this inning, but no trouble so far. Sure, he’d love to strike out the side here. Make a little statement, but you got to be composed in this spot. Focus on getting this next guy. You got two good outs. Want to get the third one and avoid the middle of that lineup coming up with a base runner. Could become dangerous. Taylor Ward will hit next. Work to walk at his first trip to the plate. That misses the zone and that’s ball one. Two outs. Base is empty. Come on. That one drilled left field. Collins springs it in for the third out and the Angels are gone in order. Score remains deadlocked at one. And we’re back set for the bottom of the third. Now it’s the shortstop. Joseph Ortiz. Ortiz splits the plate. And that’s strike one. [Applause] right side hard hit to first one gone bottom of the third inning. Up next for the Brewers, the right fielder S. Back to the top of the Milwaukee order. Now the batter now S. Freelick double the lead off the bottom of the first. Here we go. on the ground. Moore two up, two down. [Music] Now batting center fielder Jackson show Rio. Jackson Chorio up now for the Brewers. Fly to right. His first time. And that drops in for a strike. 01. That’s to third and a foul ball. [Music] That one the other way. He’ll do it himself. Three up, three down. Inning over. Brewers go down quietly. Still tied 1-1. back here in Milwaukee. Out of the fourth. So in now for the Angels, Joe Adele. Adele. He’s not going to get cheated up there. No, he’s not. He’s looking to do damage with every swing he takes. Rockies. That one fouled off. You know, these Angels showing great discipline at the plate, and patience definitely seems to be the name of their game in this one. He’s only given up one run, but the starter pitch count is starting to get up there. And that might be the best news yet for this offense. You know, sometimes all it takes is getting to the next arm before an offense does any damage. And that might be the case today. Swing and a miss. And he struck him out. And that’s six for him in this one. That was a wellexecuted slider away for the strike out right there. First two pitches filled up the zone and got him ahead 02 in the count. And at that point, you can start expanding the zone as a pitcher. He made him chase and got the quick strike out. Christian Moore the next to hit for the Angels. 0 for one. He struck out swinging last time. Liner base hit. So they get a man aboard with a one out single. Wastes no time there. Good job getting the foot down so he could catch it out front and pull it. Turn on it nicely for the knock. Logan Davidson getting ready to hit. [Music] Pitch misses and that’s ball one. One ball, no strike. man at first. One away. Come on, Milwaukee. That one in triple digits. Well, we call that keyholeing. Even though it’s right there and looks pretty good, if he doesn’t love it, he’s not going to swing that early in the count. Oh, he doesn’t get the call. And it’s two and one. Really close pitch down around the knees there. And you could see him asking where it missed. Probably doesn’t agree, but it appears he’s ready to move on to the next pitch. And that’s in the dirt. Oh, they have had a hard time scoring in this one. The pitcher out there on the mound wants to keep attacking. Make sure that they don’t get any confidence. started after it. Appeal to third and he went around. Rule the swing right through there. Got him. Picks up strike out number seven. Frustrating end to the at bat for the hitter and I’m sure that’s going to sit on him for a little while. You want to be ready to hit the fast ball. Sometimes you can overthink things and I think that was the case right there. [Applause] Number 21 at the plate now. That’s ball one. Next offering is in for a strike. One ball, one strike. That clips the corner. Moore off of first with two away down the right field line. That’s a base hit. They stopped the lead runner at second. Now two on with two outs. Still able to come through behind in the count right there. That pretty much split the zone down the middle. And those are the ones where you got to make them pay. Here’s the Angels catcher. Struck out swinging his first time. [Applause] That misses and that is ball one [Music] [Applause] and that’s outside. Tough spot right here. Couple runners on two ball count. You can’t nibble, but you have to execute and finish your pitch. If you leave something out over the plate, it’s going to bring in some runs. [Applause] And that’s ripped for a base hit. Headed for the plate. He’ll score and the Angels take the lead. It’s an RBI single. It’s two to one. His confidence level is so high. Really nice job of coming through in a big spot. fast ball pretty much middle middle and that’s what you fall asleep dreaming about as a hitter. So no surprise he put a great swing on it. First and second, two outs and now the center fielder and a first pitch fast ball is in for a strike. [Applause] [Applause] That’s a slider for a strike. And a bat like this is almost over as it begins. In this situation, you have no idea what the next pitch is going to be. You just got to hope that you can make contact. Can’t love it cleanly. Still finds a way to get off a throw. They get the force. That ends the inning and they limit the damage. But the RBI single pushes across a run and it’s now a two-1 ball game. You’re dialed into the show back here at American Family Field. Bottom four, this is Bryce Ter. That one pulled foul. [Music] Next offering is fouled back. Hendricks steals that one. Not close and the count is one and two. [Music] And that one missing low. recognized that change up right out of the hand. Just spit on it. That one way inside. [Music] That’s a good at bat right there. He was down early in that plate appearance. Works the walk. What a battle. It’s not always easy laying off a 3-2 pitch. And I tell you what, he earned that walk. William Contreras up now for the Brewers. He’s 0 for one. [Applause] Highfly ball and that one curling foul down the right side. [Applause] Swinging a ground ball up the middle. Not in time. He’s safe. Now then, the first and second, no outs. Here comes Christian Yelich, one for one with a double and a run scored. He’s been such a good hitter with runners in scoring position. Some guys just take it to another level. For him right now at the plate, it’s like everyone else is in slow motion and he’s in full speed. That one’s in there 0 and one. There’s an opportunity to do some damage, but you’ve got to be selective. Make sure you get a pitch that you can handle. Grounder might be two. Throws to second for one. Plenty of time in first. That’s a double play. Up next, the 361 double play, in my opinion, one of the toughest plays to make. You’ve got a pitcher covering first and the middle infielder throwing to a moving target. Everything has to be perfect and right there they made it look pretty easy. Isaac Collins up now for the Brewers. Grounded out his first time. [Applause] There’s a strike. Oh, he’s looking great so far. It helps when over 80% of your first pitches are strikes. He might be able to go the distance if he keeps this up. [Applause] [Applause] and fouled off. Terra on third with two out [Applause] towards first and it’s just fouled. That was close. Field two. Got him. Huge strike out there. Sometimes he wears the emotion on the sleeve, but that’s okay as long as he’s getting results. And right there, thrilled with the punch out to get out of a jam. And welcome back to the ballpark top five. John Shami with Chris Singleton. And leading it off, Mike Trout [Music] Miserowski back to work down the inside corner for a strike. Trout would reach 400 career homers with one more long ball inside ball one. Well, if Well, let me say when he hits number 400. That’s really special. Not even 70 players in MLB history have done it. Al Kaline didn’t. Neither did Joe Deaggio, Larry Walker, Jim Rice, Orlando Sapeda, or Tony Perez. And all of those guys are Hall of Fame sluggers. Next offering is outside. And that skips in the dirt. Some heat there at 98 miles an hour. Toughest pitch to hit. Fast ball on the outer black. Man, sometimes you just got to tip your cap. You’re on. Here comes the skipper. And we’re going to see a pitching change in this spot. Jacob Miserowski done for the night. And he leaves in a one-run game. New pitcher coming on. We’ll be back in a minute. Now pitching for a new pitcher in the game, Brandon Woodruff. He’s having a ton of success facing left-handed hitters this season. So, this seems like a smart move to turn to him with a lefty at the plate. Here is Monata. He’s already homerred in this game. First offering misses badly for ball one. Next offering is fouled back. All right, Chris, when you talk about great logos, the Milwaukee Brewers, the M and the B that form a glove, not everyone even realizes that it’s an M and a B. With that glove, they started using it in 1978 and have been using it a lot more recently. It’s a great logo, Chris. Yeah, Boog. I remember as a kid, my brother had that ball cap and I would just kind of borrow it. Some would say steal it, but it was just such a cool looking logo. I had no idea until years later that that’s what was hidden on the inside of it. That M and that B, but very, very cool. Woodrift deals spoils a two strike pitch and he’ll see another. Chris, where does this Brewers glove logo rank for you all time? I’d say for me it’s right there in the top five. I mean, their logos and everything is sort of your personal experience, but ball caps that we had around the house, Montreal Expose growing up, Milwaukee Brewers, that Philadelphia, Philly, where the the red was a deeper red, more of that burgundy. Uh, but those were just iconic logos. And so, because of that early impression, they stay in my top five. He’s locked in at the plate when he’s using the whole field. He was out in front there. Just needs to let the ball travel a little more. and his timing will be back on track. Good pitch for the strikeout. Here’s a big power threat. Taylor Ward. I think it’s one of the best all time. An art student at UW Oclair created it. It is super creative and I think one of the better logos we have in the sport. Doublebarreled action in the bullpen. Grant Anderson appears to be getting ready and I’m sure he’s feeling some nerves. This would be his major league debut. Prester warming up as well. Next pitch misses way outside. Down and in. Moved his feet. Two down, nobody on. And we’re in the top of the fifth. Late with the swing there. Two ball, two strikes. off the mark there and it’s a full count. Really good take, especially with two strikes. That’s ball four. Tried another sinker, but couldn’t find a zone. Boo. If I were him, I’d be nibbling around the plate as well. I mean, this guy’s just capable of hitting pitches outside of the zone and driving them a long way. Joe Adell the next to hit. One for two. Strike one. Brewers. That’s in there. And the count is 0 and two. And ball one. swing and a highf fly ball out towards right center field. Cheio pulls that one down and that’ll do it. Angels leave one, but they still lead it two to one. ready to go for the last half of the inning. Leading off Bowers Bowers. [Applause] And that’s in for a strike. 01 rolled softly, but that goes foul. [Applause] Swing and a miss. Struck him out and he’s registered three Ks in this one. Here’s the third baseman. Grounded out his first time. the third baseman, Kayla Nurban. Now a high-fly ball out to left center. Ward has a beat on it. Pulls it down and there’s two gone. The batter number three, short stop, Joseph Ortiz up now for the Brewers. grounded out his first time up and that one is downstairs and it’s one and0. Home team down a run. Last half of inning number five up the middle. Oh, great grab on the dive. Throws from his knees and he gets him. Nicely done. That was a great job of doing the math. He had the perfect angle. Diving stop completes the play and that ends the inning. Top of the sixth inning. So in now for the Angels. Christian Moore. Christian Moore. That pitch gets the inside corner. That’s strike one. Was good pitch there. Really had some run and finished. Little up and end just on the edge. And that’s one of those if you swing at it. Hit a broken bat as you jog back to the dugout. Check swing. Did he go? Yes, he did. shoots a line, drive single into right center. So, a runner aboard to start the inning. The first baseman number 21, Logan. And stepping in is the speedy Logan Davidson who’s 0 for two with a pair of strikeouts. A change up missing. One and0. Davidson goes 6′ 3 in 185 lbs. They got him off of waiverss earlier this season. Out towards right center field. Chorio sizing this one up. He’s got it. And there’s one away. Now batting the shortstop, Denzer Guzman. And the batter will be the shortstop. He’s two for two. Let’s go. Let’s do this. That one finds the zone. That’s strike one. Here’s the pitch. Runner goes strike in there. And that’s a stolen base. Not even close. [Music] Swing and a miss. Struck him out. Now two out. Just blown away in that at bat. Three fast balls, all strikes. He wasn’t even able to foul one off. There’s not much you can take away from an at bat like that as a hitter other than maybe there’s something wrong with your eyes. Got to have better timing on the fast ball next time. And here’s the catcher. And that one is in the dirt. And that’s ball one. [Music] And that’s outside. That one misses and now 3 and 0. Well, I would expect in this three 0 count, you’re taking all the way. See if he’ll walk you down the middle for a strike. And the count is three and one. Two outs and one in scoring position. Late on that fast ball. Threw that fast ball right by him. Slightly elevated. That’s a confidence boost for this guy out there on the mound. See if he continues to climb the ladder. Swing and a ball lifted in the air. Freeland makes the grab and that’ll do it. So, one hit is all they get. Top of the order, two up in the home half of the six. Angels two and the Brewers one. Bottom of the six. Digging in. It’s the speedy outfielder S Pick. Now pre and a strike on the outside edge. Well, they say it’s the best pitch in baseball. Strike one. You get ahead on a good hitter as well. Gives you a little bit more confidence to move through the at bat. [Applause] Swings through that one out in front that time. Quickly in an 02 count. You got to figure out a way to shorten your path to the baseball. Put it in play somewhere. Then you got a chance. Pitch is in the dirt. One and two to count. Fouls it back with two strikes. Hendricks delivers that one off the mark and the count is two and two. Well, this is a guy that can be frustrating for pitchers because he fouls off so many pitches and grinds out the atbat. I’m sure there’s sometimes where a pitcher would rather just give up a first pitch single than have to waste six or seven pitches on one hitter. Davidson takes it to the bag and that’s one out as they get the lead off hitter in the six. And now Jackson Torio off the plate inside and that is ball one. The Brewers trailing by a run here in the bottom of the sixth. And there’s a ball. [Applause] That one’s spoiled. And the count now two and one. Smoked on the ground to second. Throw to first and it pulls him off the bag. Well, I definitely think the speed down the line played a factor on that throw. He had more time than he thought, but as a fielder, the speed of the game and the speed of the runner sometimes can get in your head. And he just rushed it and failed to make a clean throw. Man at first with one gone. Now here is Bryce Terang. He is struck out and he is walked and a breaking ball drops in for a strike. Hendrickx throws over. Turio dives back in safely. One-run game. One out, one on. Next pitch is outside. This is one of those situations defensively where you can’t try to do too much. You got to make sure that you feel the ball cleanly and get one out first. It’s going to be tough to get two with this kind of speed in the batters box. [Applause] The one-1 and that one fouled off. with two strikes. May see some movement over there at first base. Trying to stay out of the double play right here. Got him swinging. He’s notched four strikeouts now. Now batting and catcher comes up to him. William Contrus for two in this one. [Applause] in there at the knees going one. He’s been very consistent with his command out there on the mound. Consistently throwing at the knees. Pretty impressive when a guy can repeat his delivery like this. Now move to first. Chio back in on a dive. Chorio off of first with two away. And that’s off the inside edge. One and one. Swinging a foul straight back. One, two to Contraras. And a curve misses outside. [Music] [Applause] Gets a piece there. We’ll do it again. You got this. Two-2 now. Swinging a miss. That one in the dirt. Throw to first. Got him. Inning over on the strikeout. Brewers strand one. And our score remains 2-1. Welcome back. We’re in the seventh. We have a new pitcher on the mound, Grant Anderson. Just trying to keep this one close here. And this is where a bullpen can give their players a chance to fight back into the game. Anderson. Here’s the center fielder singing. You got to appreciate a guy who’s this good defensively. I mean, watching him track balls in the outfield, it is beautiful. fought off foul. He’s so solid. Calms the heart rate of the pitcher and the manager when the ball goes up in the air and you just automatically assume that it’s an out every time it’s hit in the air. Foul ball there. There’s one guy that I can think about, Boog, who started as a third baseman, Alex Gordon, and then became an elite perennial gold glover out in left field for the Kansas City Royals. But he’s a guy when you watch him play, you would imagine that that’s all he ever played in his life was the outfield. Now that the designated hitter, Mike, here’s Trout 0 for three in this one. He is quite an athlete. I mean, you look around the other sports, basketball, football, you feel like he could thrive in one of those sports, too. Here’s a rocket out to left. Collins makes the catch and that quickly two away. Not pulled at all right there. He was clearly all over it. But sometimes you hit it too hard and right at someone. You’re looking for one of those bloop hits to get a knock sometimes. Here comes Yan Mona. He had a big swing for these guys way back in the first inning. Yeah, Boo. He didn’t waste any time in this one. The solo shot really got his team going and he’s looking for more right here. There’s the strike. [Applause] All right, let’s go. One ball, one strike. Fast ball is outside. Two down, nobody on here in the top half of inning number seven. Pitch misses there and that’s ball three. First pitch strike from the pitcher, but then no panic at all by the hitter. very patient, showing good discipline. Now he’s in the driver’s seat with a 3-1 count. Next offering is in for a strike. Count down on strikes and good work there as he gets a one, two, three. Angels go quietly there. They lead it 2-1. [Music] Bottom of the seventh. Here’s Yelich at the dish. [Applause] And that is out of play. [Music] [Applause] [Music] Swanging a ground ball, tosses to first. Yell out on the play. That play won’t be trending on social media later on, but it’s still important to execute it to perfection. This game is a lot harder than it looks, partner. Next for Milwaukee, Isaac Collins trying to keep good speed off the bases. Action in the pen down there. Luis Garcia up and loosening in the pen. Number 28 getting cranked up as well. Looking to get the tying run on base. Right through there for a strike. Holding on to a one-run lead here. Bottom of the seventh. [Applause] Next pitch is outside. [Applause] Knocks that one away and we’ll do it again. That wasn’t an easy pitch to hit. It’s much easier to do damage against mistakes, but that’s not what that pitch was. Swaging a ball hit out towards left center field. Long run tracks it down. Two away now. The first baseman number nine, Jake. Up now for Milwaukee. Jake Bowers. Ball one. No strikes. One ball, no strike. Pulls that one. Foul. [Applause] Ground ball to the right side. He takes it himself to the bag and that’ll do it. Three up, three down for Milwaukee and they trail it here two to one. Back here in Milwaukee now, the left fielder, Taylor Ward, Taylor Ward. Come on, Blue Crew. Anderson back to work. And there’s a foul ball. Swing and a foul out of play. [Music] [Applause] Swings and miss has struck him out. [Music] [Applause] And now the right fielder Joe Adele one for three. [Applause] That’s off the inside corner. Ball one. He’s great hitting the ball the other way. And that pitch did a good job to straighten him up a bit. Mission accomplished. And another ball. Base is empty, one away. And we’re in the top of the eighth. check swing and he went and had a count two and one. [Applause] Chopped back up the middle. Terang over to first in time. Two up, two down here in the top of the eighth. The second baseman, Christian Moore. Here’s the second baseman, Christian Moore. [Music] Two down. Nobody on line drive. He makes the grab and that is that. Angels go down one two three as they’re unable to add to their 2-1 lead. Back now. new pitcher on the mound as we roll into the bottom of the eighth. Luis Garcia should be a good first match up for him here. He’s been doing a great job against right-handed bats so far this season. They’ve had a lot of trouble squaring him up. [Applause] Ripped but a curls foul. [Applause] Yeah, that’s fouled off. [Applause] In there. Got him. Looking for the K. That was pretty nasty. Pretty big strike out right there to start this eighth inning. Down one. Any lead off base runner really makes this inning a bit more interesting. But now this offense has to switch from possibly trying to manufacture a run to needing to run into something or just try to string multiple hits together to get a run across the plate. Joseph Ortiz up now for the Brewers has grounded out a couple of times. [Applause] Right through there for a strike. [Music] [Applause] [Applause] and a ground ball to first and it finds its way through for a hit and the tying run is on base. Always feels amazing getting a job done when the team needs you to come through. It’s just bigger than your own individual stats. Not much to this one other than just a willingness to go the other way and put the ball in play. That’s a team at bat right there. Nice job of staying back and letting the ball get deep. And now a chance to maybe get creative on offense with good speed on first. Now here is Sal in the air left field down the line and it’s just fouled. If you’re a base runner, you got to stay dialed in here. Look for anything in the dirt. Try your best to get in the scoring position. [Applause] in the air out to center. Makes the grab on the run. And there’s two away. Nothing instills more confidence in a team than a center fielder who makes a great play like that on the run. They can feed off the energy he brings just from his playmaking abilities. And the batter now, Jackson Chorio. [Applause] This to third onto first. That’s the third out. Inning over. Milwaukee leaves one. They’re down two to one. We’re back. It’s the top of the ninth and there’s a new pitcher on the mound. Number 39. Well, he’s been excellent against left-handed hitters this year. And that’s his first test. This looks like a good move to the pin in terms of the matchup. Logan Davidson now at the plate 0 for three with two strikeouts and a fly out. Davidson. [Applause] And the first offering a fast ball for a strike. Movement in Milwaukee’s bullpen. Quinn Pier appears to be getting loose. Highs getting loose as well. [Music] Fast ball for a strike on the ground to first. Bowers steps on first for the out. Good slider inside right there. Batter fighting to get there. Just rolled over it. got ground ball. Here’s the shorts stop at the play. [Music] That’s through there for a strike. [Applause] Next offering is fouled back. One down. Base is empty upstairs. This hitter’s been seeing good velocity in the at bat. He’s kind of set up for that change up. He hasn’t seen it yet. Looks just like a fast ball out of the hand. goes down looking for the strike out. Went back to the fast and it was effective. Now that two down, base is empty. Here’s the catcher. [Applause] And first off is fouled off. Swinging a miss at a slider. Well, you got the hitter already chasing that nasty slider. If you’re on the mound, you just want to expand the zone right now. Get a swing and miss and get through this at bat. Foul ball. Still a one and two count. [Applause] out of the ground to third. Throw sails over his head at first. Now he’ll turn for second and he’ll pull into second with two gone. That’s a dangerous throw for the first baseman to try to handle right there. Exposed him to a potential collision and we’ve all seen some of the ugly ones over the years on plays similar to that one. So, it’s great. Nothing came out of that other than the throwing error. And now the center fielder on the corner for a strike [Music] [Applause] late that time. It’s strike two. He finds himself in a tough situation early. Just going to try to simplify it. Take a knock the other way if you can. In the air right side and that drops foul. Hit in the air left field. Chorio settles underneath it. He’s there. He’s got it. And that’s the third out. So no runs, no hits, and one error, but they leave him stranded. Height of the order. 345 will get their shot in the bottom of the ninth. Angels two and the Brewers won. We’re back. And on the mound is the closer, Kennley Jansen. And as relievers go, he’s not a big strikeout guy. He tries to force weak contact. So command and execution are huge for him. Up now for Milwaukee, Bryce Tang, a walk and a pair of strikeouts. Now, Boo, this is a real tough place for visiting teams to come in and close out ball games for a win. Check swing. He went too far and it’s a strike. No ball. One strike. [Applause] [Applause] One-run game. Bottom nine. [Applause] comes up empty. That’s strike two. One ball, two strikes. [Applause] [Applause] keeps the attack back going with a foul ball. [Applause] Grab ball off the middle. That’s a base hit. Off to a good start with a lead off now. A perfect example right there. That plate discipline, it pays off. The deeper he gets into account, the more comfortable he becomes and he usually wins the battle. No outs, runner at first. And next will be the cleanup hitter, William Contreras. 0 for three. A fly out, a ground out, and a strike out. Runner takes off, pitches low. Safe at second, and he easily steals the bag. And the tying run is now in scoring position. Well, it seems like 90 ft is such a big deal in a tight one-run game like this one. Maybe it’s a little bit risky, but they felt good about it and it paid off. Let’s see if they can turn this into a big run. [Applause] Swing and a miss. And it’s one and one. All season long. He’s racked up a number of saves and sometimes the adrenaline doesn’t get high enough until there’s a runner or two on base. So the tying run at second just missed. Just about gives his skipper a heart attack, but that’s where he functions best. [Applause] Next offering clips the zone count even at two. [Applause] That’s a strike out. Woody Keller says he won a round. He’s two outs away. And now it’s Christian Yelich. So clutch. You could argue that he’s been this team’s MVP this year. In this situation with first base open, he shouldn’t give him anything to hit. There’s a right-hander on deck [Applause] and immediately pumps in a strike to the left-handed hitter. Well, comfortable or not, these are the situations closers they seem to live for. I mean, you get into some hot water, a jam, tough spot, whatever you want to call it, but this is where they earn their keep. man at second. Misses outside and the count even one and one. One strike [Applause] and fouled off. Bottom of the ninth. Down a run and tying run on second base. And a foul ball. He stays alive. [Applause] Jans fires. Ball 22. [Applause] And that one missing inside. A sharp slider. That’s a really good take right there. Slider down and in. Very difficult to get on the same plane and do anything with 32 on the way. Paul, he wiped it. And that’ll keep the line moving. Pretty much the last thing you want from your bullpin arms are pretty massive, especially in spots like this. Make the team earn their way. With the tying run in scoring position in the bottom of the ninth, digging in is the switch inning outfielder Isaac Collins. Third baseman playing on the edge of the grass looking for the sack bunt. First pitch just misses. This is the guy they turn to to get the most important outs of the ball game, but they’re going to make him work to get this save. trying to close out a one-run lead and the home team trying to pull it out [Applause] and it misses and the count is 2 and 0. Way to lay off that pitch down. [Applause] [Applause] that one in for a strike. Two and two. [Applause] And that’s down and away. They tried to get him to go chase the pitch down and away, but he wouldn’t bite. Jake Bowers in the deck circle hoping to get a chance to make a big impact here. And a payoff pitch. He fouls it off. Will do it again. [Applause] Ball four. He walked in and that keeps things going. They’re not ready to go home quite yet. The perfect number nine. So base is loaded with Jake Bowers up now for the Brewers. Golden opportunity right here. Oh, how he’d love to walk it off right here. [Applause] [Applause] in there at the knees. Strike one. Tough situation right here. So important as a pitcher to get ahead in the count as he did right there. [Applause] The winning run on second base. A squeeze back to the mound and he bare hands it. Nicely done to the out. Oh man, it takes guts to call for the suicide squeeze with the lead on the line and this late in the game and that was great execution. They’re playing with cryotherapy in their veins. Now the Angels manager is out of the dugout and he’ll make a move to the pan. Kenley Jansen is done and it’s a tie ball game as he heads for the dugout. back with a new arm after a quick break. Now pitching for number 28 comes on now. He’s making his fourth appearance of the season. [Applause] Now the third baseman [Applause] swing and he popped it off. Adele going after it. Drops into the glove and that is the third out of the inning. So they can’t come up with the winning run and that means we’ll have to go a little longer here tonight to find a winner. We are tied 2-2. We’re at extras here. And now the designated hitter for the Angels, Mike Trout [Applause] out in front and fouled to the left side. Good work on that change. Barreled it up. Just couldn’t keep it between the lines. [Applause] Swinging at a line drive. Base hit it to left field. Here’s the throw. Well, they didn’t waste any time as they knock home the runner from second to get on the board. Huge for team confidence and how you approach the situation. Still have a guy on base and now they’ll try to add on. No outs. Runner at first. Yawan Monata the next to hit for the Angels. Pickoff throw and diving back is trout. [Applause] Trout on the move. Swinging a foul back and that’s out of play. Trout on at first. Nobody out. Fouled off left side [Music] [Applause] and Ellen missing inside. a sharp slider. See if he can go upstairs a little bit. Make sure you miss up and out of the zone since you’re heading to count one, two. Don’t miss in the zone cuz that’s where you can get hurt. One on, nobody out. A run in here in extra innings. Swaming a miss. Struck him out and he’s gone for the fourth time tonight. You know, the danger with the slider is leaving it out over the heart of the plane and getting contact on it. If you’re going to miss, you want to miss towards the corners, not in the middle. Right there, he does a great job with hard break at the end. He ran it inside. Very difficult to do anything when you’re tied up like that as a hitter. So, digging in, Taylor Ward moved to first and diving back is Trout. [Applause] First offering Ruer goes tap foul at the plate. One run across in the frame so far here in the top half of the 10. The other way and that’s just foul. [Applause] The next pitch misses and the count one and two. Good miss with that change up away. He needs a ball on the ground for a double play. minimize the potential threat right here on the hitter side. Nice job of laying off that pitch. Here’s a swing and a drive left field and he knew it. A massive home run. His second home run of the series and they boost their lead. It’s 52. He absolutely crushed that one. No doubt about that one, Boo. We knew it wasn’t coming back. So, let’s take a closer look inside the numbers. That blast from Stackcast 113 miles an hour off the bat. Singing and it just flew out of here, Boo. Even if you only heard the ball hit the bat. You knew that was a home run. I mean, he put a perfect swing on it and the numbers back it up. Here comes a skipper out of the dugout and he’s ready to make the move. Number 39 gives way. It’s a three-run game, and we’ll be back to tell you about the new arm in a minute. Now, pitching for here comes a new arm for the Brewers, Quinn coming on to face a righty here. And he’s been fantastic against him this year. His numbers in those matchups are very good. Base is empty, one away. Joe Adell the next to hit for the Angels. There’s a strike. Still only one out here in the inning. That one finds the zone. That is strike two. Ground ball up the middle. Ortiz on the run. Throw to first and very nicely done for the out. The batter number four, second baseman, Christian Moore. And next for the Angels, Christian Moore. [Applause] First off, and it just misses. Activity in the bullpen for the Brewers. Jared Kanig, the southpaw, is throwing and getting that sinker dialed in. Hyams also getting ready, two outs. Fast ball for a strike and a count. One and one. And a foul ball. Two gone. Base is empty. But three runs across. And here in extra innings. And a swing and a miss. And that’s that. So they get three runs on two hits including the homer. No errors and no one left on. Last chance to even things up. We head to the bottom of inning number 10. Angels five and the Brewers two. And we’re back. And now the short stop. Joseph Ortiz. Joseph Ortiz. [Applause] That one is absolutely belts into the corner. The run comes in from second. It’s 53. Well, that’s how you respond. Lead off man comes up, gets into scoring position. Now, there are several ways that they can get this run across. [Applause] Runner in scoring position, no outs. And now here is Sal Freelick. One for four with a double. Just a slow ground ball this time. One out the bottom of the 10th. Now batting center fielder Jackson Rio. Next for the Brewers, Jackson Chorio. Listen, there’s absolutely no reason to pitch to this guy right here. You nibble, you see if he’ll expand his zone, but don’t give him anything to hit. If you walk him, not a big deal. You have a double play opportunity set up. Tying run at the plate. As a pitcher, you know the runner on second is ready to push things with this speed. A base hit is probably going to be a big run. So, you really have to execute on the mound outside. And you got to wonder with first base open, one out, is he going to get a pitch to hit? Bryce Terra in the deck circle hoping to get a chance to make a big impact here. The tying run at the plate and the tying run is on base. That just came apart right there. Four pitch walk and play is not going to help him out by swimming at something out of the zone. Now Bryce Terra, he’s been really clutch with runners in scoring position this season. So they’ll have to be extra careful in this matchup. [Applause] That misses the zone. That’s ball one. Well, he’s already in some trouble and falling behind in the count makes it even worse. Then you’ve got to throw the ball over more of the plate and that’s where they can really do damage against a guy like this. And a swing and a line drive out of right field. Makes the grab and there’s two away. Now batting catcher Williams good. So last chance for the Brewers. William Contreres digs in now. Way high with the winning run at the plate. And we’re in the last half of the 10th. [Applause] Line drive. That’s the ball game. Well, this is a big win on the road and going extras into 10. Uh, so hard to pull those out, but I think this team did a great job of keeping the crowd out of the ball game late. When you can do that, it kind of calms everything down, keeps the adrenaline of the opposing team down a bit, and you can steal a win and get out of here happy. A 53 final score in this one.
