From 2012 (when they drafted Andrei Vasilevskiy) until 2024 (when they drafted Harrison Meneghin) the Tampa Bay Lightning have used eight draft picks to select goaltenders.

Their return from those eight players? Four appearances and two wins.

Is this our next brick wall?

  1. I hope so. Don’t get me wrong, Vassy is the GOAT, but having someone who can take a little load off Vassy will help the man stay sharp much longer.

  2. I really hope so. Time will tell. He’s still so young and there’s so much development to go. Fun to imagine though!

  3. It’s time for the Lightning to start looking for 88’s replacement, as it’s going to take 3-4 years to get a guy fully ready. It took Vasi that long.

Could Meneghin be the guy? Who knows. Scouts don’t seem particularly high on him, however he made a huge leap in the WHL last year.

Meneghin has late bloomer potential, whereas 88 already had a complete and refined game at age 18 with no glaring weaknesses.

  4. Vasy had a great tutor with Bishop. What little Vasy was missing, Bishop passed those skills on
