Crosby to the Canucks?!?! Could it happen?! Is it feasible?
Heat. Heat. [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] Hey KEX fans, welcome to the line change. Now before we dive into our topic today, I want to give a quick shout out and thank you to my sponsor GatJack Art, maker of this amazing artwork you see here on display. And you guys can check them out yourselves at gasjackart.com. You guys can also check him out on Instagram at gasjackart. I have a link to his website in the description down below. Now, onto our topic of discussion. We’re going to be going over an article from our friends over at Kucks Army, and this is a pretty big one. Now, it’s going to get a lot of people talking. Uh, now, for those of you that may have missed uh my Bible big names video, go ahead and check that out. It was I really enjoyed doing that video. It’s this one right here. And in that video, we talked about Evani Malcolin possibly being a trade target for the Canucks come the deadline, you know, perhaps as a rental. And in this video, we’re we’re going to be talking about another Pittsburgh Penguin. And you guys probably know where I’m going with this, and that’s of course Sydney Crosby. Now, I’ll admit my wife is not going to like this video because she does not like Sydney Crosby. Keep in mind, she’s from Philadelphia, so there’s that rivalry there. So, sorry, honey, but I had to do this video. Uh, as of late, there’s been a lot of speculation about, you know, Crosby’s future, will it, you know, will he remain in Pittsburgh? Will he retire in Pittsburgh? Or will he go elsewhere and possibly chase one more cup? Now, just looking at my notes and let’s be real, Pittsburgh probably not going to get that one last cup in Pittsburgh. You know, sorry Pittsburgh Penguins fans, but they’re basically on the precipice of a rebuild and it’s not going to be happening anytime soon and Crosby may not have a whole lot of years left in them. So now as it pertains to the article, I’m not going to read the full article. It is it’s an amazing read by Stefan Roier. Absolutely incredible. I actually just finished uh reading it to do my notes and but I will leave a link to the article in the description down below so you guys can check it out. But I am going to uh take some a quote from Sydney Crosby himself and I’m going to read it to you. And this was on the possibility of him being traded. Now, this interview he did was with Pier Lebron. And Crosby goes ahead and says as follows. I mean, I understand it when it comes to, you know, the possibility of him being traded. It’s not something you want to discuss. You’d rather be talking about who you’re or who we’re getting at at the deadline or, you know, where we’re at as far as, you know, are we one, two, or three in the division. So, that was just a little quote from Sydney Crosby. And then there’s another quote from Crosby’s agent, Pat Bisson, who goes on to say this. It’s been three years. They haven’t made the playoffs. Talking about the Penguins, it all depends on how Sid is going to be and how the team is going to do. I maintain the same position that I do believe that he should be playing playoff hockey every year in my opinion. Now, that is quite the sound bite from Pat Bison, Sydney Crosby’s agent. Now, when it pertains to a trade, any trade, and this is something that both Elliot Freiedman and I forget who else he was with I Oh, Nick Ciprios, they both agreed on that any trade, you know, any Sydney Crosby trade would happen after the Olympics. it would not happen before the Olympics as obviously they want to focus on the Olympics and Crosby himself probably wants to focus on the Olympics as well. So it’s probably going to happen after the Olympics either just prior to or at the deadline. Now, as it pertains to the Vancouver Conucks, um obviously the Canucks returning to contention is far more likely than the Penguins doing it, at least anytime soon. At least if you’re a Vancouver Conucks fan, obviously you’re going to say that. But realistically, too, Conucks probably have a better chance than the Penguins do. Again, sorry, uh Penguins fans. Therefore, the Conucks would need to be having a very good start obviously to the 2526 season for this to even be, you know, possible or for this chatter to even begin on acquiring Crosby. Think 2023 24 that kind of start is what we’re talk is what we’re talking about. And that’s the bare minimum of a trade even being possible. Let’s not forget there’s the established relationship between Jim Rutherford, Patrick Eline, and Sydney Crosby. Obviously, Rutherford was Crosby’s GM from 2015 through 2021. They won back-to-back cups together. And you would have to imagine there’s some mutual trust there between the two and that if Rutherford tells Crosby he can compete in Vancouver, Crosby might believe him. Now, I’m going to add a little something. Now, obviously, if the Canucks still had Rick Talk, possibly that could help, too. But talk ain’t talking ain’t here anymore. So, throw that out the window. Let’s also not forget Sydney Crosby does have a history of winning big games in Vancouver. And the sight of his golden goal, you would think would have some personal significance to him. I mean, I still remember that goal. That goal was absolutely incredible. Um, so yeah, that might help. Who knows? It could. Uh, let’s keep in mind also Crosby’s destination will be his personal choice. You know, Crosby is going to dictate his future and it won’t be the Penguins doing it. I think Sydney Crosby has earned that right to dictate where he finishes his career. And obviously I think if a trade request from Crosby would occur, the Penguins would let Crosby pick his landing spot. Now for those Canucks fans who are probably going like, “What’s what’s the return? Like what would the Canucks have to give up?” Well, I have there was a part in the article that had a potential like return like that the connects would give up and you guys can throw out your own in the comment section down below. Go right ahead. But this is what I found. It would be obviously multiple first round picks, obviously a blue chip prospect or maybe even two, uh, and a young NHLer. Now, you’re probably wondering who like who? Well, I have an example that was brought up by Stefan Roier. Once again, let me know in the comment section down below what you guys think think about this and would you guys do this trade if you were the Vancouver Conucks. So, two first round picks, Braden Coots, Victor Mancini for Sydney Crosby. Would you do that? I mean, I I would be okay with that. Sure, you’re giving up two first round picks, but you’re also getting two years of Sydney Crosby because remember, he has two years left on on his 8.7 million dollar deal and you’d be getting him for two years, which is kind of align with the Quinn Hughes window. I’m just saying. And you could probably add a few more assets on top of that package. I don’t know, maybe another first round pick or another draft pick. doesn’t have to be a first round pick. Could be a second. Um, but that is just an example of what the Conucks would be probably willing to give the Penguins. Now, obviously, it’s no guarantee that the Penguins would even accept it unless Sydney Crosby was like, I want to go to Vancouver. I want to play under Jim one more time. I want to play under Patrick Alvine one more time. I want to play with Quinn Hughes. I want to play with Elias Patterson and I guess throw in Thatraenkco too. I want to play with Thatcherko. That would be the way that Crosby would come to Vancouver is if he himself facilitated the trade and basically went to the Penguins said I want to go there. And you know the Penguins would not say no to Sydney Crosby. So there you go. There you have it. Is it possible? Potentially. I mean guys remember Wayne Gretzky got traded. If Wayne Gretzky can get traded, Sydney Crosby can get traded. So once again, let me know in the comment section down below what you guys think. We go over the possibility as well just how feasible it is if Sidney Crosby were to not only be traded this season but in particular be traded to the #Canucks. We go over what one potential trade package could look like and more.
