Rangers vs. Astros Game Highlights (9/17/25) | MLB Highlights

On the mound tonight for the Astros will be the right hander christian javier repel. He’s going to have to rely on those instincts to pitch against the Texas Rangers on the season. This will only be his seventh start working back from the injured list to 4.78 A and the first pitch is swung on and popped up by josh smith. Carlos Correa in foul territory drifts to it and puts it away one pitch and one out that’s up and in and that’s ball four, that will be the first walk led by javier, a one out base runner , 2 to 1 runner goes a swing and a miss throw down to second is off line and in there with a stolen base his 21st of the season got two strikes on the change up to Jock and Then he got him to ground out on the change up for the second out of the inning swing at a foul tip and javier strikes out to end the inning first strikeout for christian and he strands a runner at third scoreless top of the first for the Rangers and now to the bottom of the first biggest game of the year. I can still remember the excitement. December 2nd 2022 and the Rangers signed Jacob deGrom and you could even sort of visualize moments like these for him. Pena sends one to center field, sending Lankford back, still going back, reaches up and he can’t make the play. It’s off the wall and is the second base and he is a leadoff baserunner on a ball that eluded Lanford probably a double for JP as he continues to get on, that is now six in a row. Correa puts it on the ground. It’s a tough play and no play. Smith knocks it down just to make sure Pena doesn’t advance. That will be an infield hit for Carlos Correa and the Astros have their first two base runners on and Pena Correa just like they did last night, a swing and a Miss, he strikes out altuve the first out of the inning, big strikeout just a little bit of extra juice on this 1, 99 miles an hour at the top of the zone away and a swing and a miss got him on the curveball back to back strikeouts, the 3 to 2 and he comes in with a breaking ball and what a take by Tara, you can see that Jacob MCLA, he wanted it. Maybe he needed it. Now, Janer Diaz Bats with the bases loaded beautiful inning. Even if the Astros don’t cash in , they’ve already put a big number of pitches on the grum in the first line drive base hit two runs score. Third is going to be late Diaz on a two RB. I single big swing from Jr. He got a mistake out over the plate. So one out and Alejandro Osuna and Osuna shoots that past third base and the left Alejandro is aboard in the second inning. So he’s at first base one out for Josh Young, a swing and a miss go down to second, a pretty good one. Osuna gets a hand in there and he’s safe and there’s a swing and a drive high in the air deep out to left center. Sanchez is back and that one will be off that fencing. Osuna scores young with the RB I double and the Rangers are on the board. It’s a 2 to 1 ball game. Now, cody freeman Rangers need just a little base hit right here and he shoots that one up. The middle base hit Freeman ties the game young scores from third and it’s 2 to 2 great answer from the Rangers here in the second inning after a 35 pitch. First inning. Figured some things out in the second inning with an eight pitch. Second. Al Correa is two for two. Carlos Correa, a single in the first and now a leadoff single in the third. Jose struck out his first time up that ball trail high and deep to left out has given the Astros the board to number 26 of the year for number 27 Jose with his 37th career home run against the Rangers and now has an even 100 RBIs in his career against a fly ball center field. Late start for coming on is Garcia makes the diving catch? Wow. How about that effort from Albo a little compromise that right leg, but that’s pretty athletic. 4 to 2 Bottom third of the lineup for Houston 2 to 2 is lifted out into right field. Garcia was deep, comes in, reaches down and made another great catch. He’s given them everything he has right now. There’s a strike out of Cole got him on the slider. A 123 for Jacob Jonah. He pops up for out. Number one in the swing struck him out, got a fastball by him inside. That’s the fourth strikeout for javier fall in the air to center field. Jake Myers going back and he’s still moving back but he puts it away before he gets to the warning track. That is seven in a row sent down by christian javier Pena doubled and scored in the first fouled out in the 2nd, 3rd time through the order here in the bottom of the fifth for Jacob ball hit to right sending Garcia back. He’s looking up Jeremy and the Astros lead 5 to 2 assuming this will be the last inning for where he’s at pitch count. Wise and what the score is, you go to the sixth inning, Christian javier trying to get through six tonight. He’s helped himself out with a couple of good innings back to back ground ball. Pena backhands jump throw to first and the made by walker garcia is still not able to run 100 percent coming off that quad injury and Walker makes the play to get out of the sixth innings. Great play by Jeremy. Pay you going to his right went with the jump throw didn’t have enough on it but a good adjustment by Christian Walker to get the scoop and the tag to finish off the inning for christian Javier. New pitcher into this game is going to be Craig Kimbrel. How about that? Start to the outing Kimbrel makes quick work of the 22 year old Aso with a three pitch strikeout facing Jonah Heim here in the air center field playable Jake myers trots in and that’s a good 123 innings for craig Kimbrel here in the seventh. Jake Myers will lead things off on the ground to short backhanded by Smith, but he Bobbles and Jake is going to reach. Jake reaches on the ground ball knew he had to hurry but he couldn’t make the transfer. Jake on swing and a miss he struck him out, got him with the sweeper. He was throwing him everything bouncer. Second baseman goes to the bag himself forces out Myers and the inning is done 63 games for stephen O, he has one start under his belt. 321 is his, er, a and of course , that whip has been under one the entire season and that is ball four up leadoff walk to the nine hitter. He bloops this into center field going out for Altuve drops in front of myers and that’s a base hit. And so the Rangers have the tying run coming to the plate in the eighth grounds this one to you clipped it to altuve with a for the double play, double play for Oker and the Astros second walk of the inning allowed by Oker. And once again, the Rangers will have the tying run at the plate. A couple runners on the corners. Lefty Brian King is out of the bullpen. He has been very good against right handed hitters this season with the fastball Moore sends the ball to right center field playable. Smith comes on and puts it away. Brian King continues his perfect season. 20 two inherited runners all 22 have been stranded. We go to the ninth Astros trying to regain sole possession of first place in the American League West and also trying to retain the silver boot for the ninth season in a row. Got the last out of the eighth inning, stranding two runners pace a garcia here to start the ninth tapper back to the mound. Garcia not running 100% a little bit of a high throw but handled by Walker for the first out of the innings ball popped high in the air foul territory. Carlos Correa comes in. That will be the second out young scalds. Pena, the throw Astros Sweet. Get the, the Astros win the season series 7 to 6 against the Rangers and they’re back in first place.

  1. How Sweep it is 🧹🧹🧹
Won the Silver Boot Again 9 years in a row and the Mariners lost! Astros we are back in 1st place by a half game!! πŸŽ‰πŸ˜ŽπŸ€˜πŸΏπŸ€˜πŸΏ

  2. BIG sweep there. Nearly puts the rangers out of contention and with the m's winning as much as they have they needed that. I also think it's funny you never know what you'll get with Javier, but at this point I'll take that over Framber. Also some nice D by Pena and Walker.

  3. Imagine being scared to have your city in the team’s name.

Boot stays in Houston where it belongs. Where’s all the South Oklahoma losers at in the chat? They seem real quiet all of a sudden.
