I know it’s just the first day of camp and we will see many different combinations but I’m just interested in hearing opinions on this and maybe some other lineup things you’d like to see.

  1. I like those lines. I think Chinakhov and Johnson are interchangeable at this time until one of them breaks out above the other for the last Top 6 spot.

  2. KJ on the 3rd line obviously stands out as odd but I get wanting to try and spread some skill around and also letting Chinny have the opportunity to earn a higher lineup spot. I have a hard time seeing that sticking for game 1 though.

  3. Honestly, as a Kuraly and Danforth fan, this looks better than last year.

Chinakov thinks he is 2nd line worthy, I like seeing him there and giving him a chance to prove it. KJ will have to work to maintain/stay on the 2nd line. To quote Evason, “Everything is earned”.

  4. I like these lines, could see them all getting solid minutes.

I really wish we had an alternative to ZAR on that 3rd line but we’ll see how it plays out

  5. Not sure if I like Johnson not being on Fantilli’s line but I get we need Chinakhov’s trade value up. There’s some things that look a little surprising but I’m sure it’ll get ironed out in the future.

  6. Not bad. Really hoping Coyle contributes. But having ZAR on an NHL 3rd line does not make sense to me.

  7. its a terrible issue to have so many talented players that the top 6 bleeds in the the 3rd line. The sadness. It just means we have more aggressive scoring lines out there for longer and lines 1 and 2 get a few more min rest since the 3rd can still do lots of work. I love it

  8. I’m a little surprised to see Chinakhov over Johnson on the 2nd line. But, overall I really like these lines

  9. Everyone just remember it’s day one. Zero percent chance the lines are the same opening night.

  10. Well, I see we enter another year where the coach seems to want to put our small, shifty, best puck possession guy on the third line for some reason, all while shoving two shooters onto the same second line.

We all know how this changes by game 10, at the latest.

Sometimes I feel like I need to find a bookie who will take obscure lineup change bets because I have seen enough camps to know where it ends.

I can’t help but wonder if this is partially to please Chinakov and his agent, and barring him looking like a stud there this gets shifted around to move our best creator onto a line with our shooting young center.

I like the overall look of this group better than last year. I know every other team has tried to get better, but you can’t tell me this team couldn’t win one more game this year than last year, assuming GK holds up.

  11. I think China ahead of KJ is designed to show him off and make a trade. Otherwise I’d personally rather have KJ on the second. Love the Violence Line. Hate Aston Reese on the third lol.

  12. If they’re embracing the idea of a 1a/b/c style lineup a la 2014 Pens, I don’t mind it. I mean they had Kessel on the 3rd line so…
