As a first-year MLB fan, it’s crazy to believe this shocked me as much as it did already. Even having just been here for one full season, I’m already aware of the pitcher that he is. Glad I was able to see some of his games before he retires.
On to a happy retirement! 🫡
If you ask me, he’s the reason they became relevant to my generation. Farewell Clayton🫡
Final start Friday? What? He’s not pitching in the postseason?
Kershaw, Scherzer and Scherzer are 3 hall of famers and I don’t know if there’s another crew like them coming around andtime soon.
Feels like every generation the standard for a hall of famer goes down. But none as drastic as the 90s to modern era. Keep in mind the 90s pitchers are guys like Maddux, Pedro, Randy, and Mussina were all great HoF and none of the pitchers now can come close the WAR they produced in the same time (Verlander is close to Mussina but has 2 more played seasons)
Guys no just throw so much harder and intense and can’t go deep into games. But the switch has made it so basically every generation has produced a top 20 pitcher until the 2000s debutants. Verlander could get there with another year or he could suck and fall short. It’s a wild change and I don’t know what future hall of fame standards will be.
.162/.205/.185 OPS .390
It’s a wonder how he stayed in MLB so long.
I remember attending his first major league start just 10 years ago in 2008, how is he already hanging it up?
I respect him for not doing a whole goodbye season.
Thanks, I hate it. Gonna miss you Kersh.
Does that mean Stafford is next?
Bullpen will blow the game and he’ll get a no decision.
The end for a Texas legend!!!
Absolute legend.

Great pitcher, don’t care for the Christian bullshit, but was great on the bump.
If you announce what he is going to announce, is he still announcing it or just confirming your announcement?
Am I the only one surprised he’s retiring ?
I’m so happy he stayed on for two rings. Even if he wasn’t a huge factor in either, that was what he really needed to cement his legacy.
Remember growing up watching him and Lincecum going head to head. Those games were painful as a Giants fan, but pure masterclass by both pitchers
What if they make it to the playoffs? Is he pitching then?
Thank GOD.

See you in 5 at the HoF induction ceremony.
The Kobe Bryant of the MLB, without the rape.
Great regular season, never showed up when it mattered, relied on his teammates to bail him out late in games. Couldn’t win without a bigger superstar.
