I literally just put this jersey on backwards and then I was just like, “Ah, whatever.” And I I remember when I was in like middle school, it it was like the early as early 2000s. Like this was a big deal. Like when MTV showed music videos, all the rappers had backwards jerseys and it was cool, I guess. Anyways, uh Vikings, Bears, Monday Night Football. Should finally hear from Kevin McConnell and company. Uh feeding the local media jackles today. Uh our first practice on Thursday, Friday, Saturday. Good times. Uh, Vikings communications week 1 schedule notes for the sixth time in series history and first since 2002. The Vikings and the Bears will face each other in week one. It’ll mark the third straight season of Vikings Bears matchup will take place on Monday Night Football. All the story lines. JJ McCarthy, Caleb Williams battle the 2024 NFL draft class. JJ McCarthy from Chicagoland suburbs. It’s going to be great. It’s going to be great. Can’t wait, man. I cannot wait to just completely smack the taste out the mouth of the Bears. Just Flora’s defense getting after Caleb Williams uh serving it up to Ben Johnson and it’s going to be great, man. It’s going to be good. Also good. Uh Vikings release their first unofficial inseason week one depth chart and wasn’t really a lot of surprises. You know, Wentz over Brosmer, whatever at this point. Uh then yeah, there really isn’t anything to write home about except you know Thelen clearly wide receiver two behind Addison. So maybe that holds up. Who knows? Defensively and again coaches don’t even put this together like sports information directors do this or like the media team does this. I I guess SID is more college whatever. Uh but Jaylen Redmond lists as a starter in Harrison Phillips place. Jonathan Allen as well as Javon Hargrave in that mix. I think you will see all six defensive linemen rotating through which is going to be gorgeous. I love it man. Uh then quarterbackwise Murf and Rogers Akuda number three makes sense. Uh yeah they only have four corners listed because there there’s only four corners on the roster. Ah Harrison Smith, Theo Jackson, Josh Mattelis, Carama Jardson, Tavier Thomas rounds things out and then you got special teamers. Uh interesting is that Miles Price lists as the number one punt returner which is beautiful as well as uh number one uh as well as number one kick returner. It’s interesting with Ty Chandler Ty Felton in the mix as well plus Adam Thielen second team punt return. I I don’t think Adam Thelen’s return to punt since 2016. But I guess we’ll see again none of these matter so it’s whatever. Um some of that matters though. Numerology podcast coming soon. Uh Vikings have announced the following jersey number changes for players on the 53man rooster. So uh once you got 90man trimmed down certain players don’t make the roster and uh some of the guys who make it decide to shift around some numbers. Miles Price going from 31 to four. RP Kyrie uh Dwight Nudy Mclothin changing again. So Nudy originally was 47 then he changed to 29 roads close. Now he’s changing to six formerly worn by Brian Oima. Uh and remember Nudy wore two in college uh taken up by Isaiah Rogers right now. So, but Nudie eventually he’s working his way down there. He even tweeted that out. Yeah. Uh Jeff Akuda, so who’s worn number one throughout most of his career, originals wearing 21. And I kind of miss the days of quarterbacks wearing like 21. Deion Sanders looking good, but Akuda wearing number eight. Uh formerly worn by Sling and Sam How Wentz wearing 11. This is where the conspiracy theories come in because you know Carson Wentz didn’t sign anywhere and wasn’t worried about getting a job and then automatically he just becomes a Vikings quarterback too and number 11 just was just vacant even through 90man rostersh the 19 off of Dante Fleming’s on the practice squad. Ben Urase going from 48 to 85. Baby carrots getting things done. Uh Javon Hargrave. So Hargrave initially took number 98 from Bo Richtor and then he switched to 97 after Harrison Phillips got traded to the Jets. Hardgrave is a worn 98 and 97 throughout at various points of his career. So there you go. And then hey Bo Richter goes from 98 to 54 back to 98. It’s good to see also. So you know we’ll get the first Vikings in report on Thursday after the first practice. But I don’t know, like the the more this this uh sort of drags on, the more you’re curious, right? Also, speaking of injuries, Vik Page again, uh Vikings head coach Kevin McConnell on injuries heading into week one. Everybody has got their own individual situations. Everybody is doing the best they can to make it back. We’ll get our team prepared. We feel like we have a very deep team. That’s a fun way of saying that some players are going to miss time. Kevin McConnell should go into politics after this because he talks so much and basically says nothing. Like it’s except he does it in like such a nice way too that you’re like, “Oh, that was nice.” And then you think about it’s like, “Wait a minute. He didn’t say anything.” It’s sort of like the Spielmanesque. It’s kind of good. All right. But you were, you know, Justin Jefferson, do they monitor his snaps uh during practice throughout the week to have him go on game day? Andrew Van Ginkle, what’s going on there? CJ Ham, why is he on injured reserve? Darasaw, week one. There’s a lot of questions. Hopefully, we’ll get some clarification either today or tomorrow when Kevin McConnell meets with the media. Also, key to week one. Uh Courtney Cronin, ESPN uh former Vikings beat writer, old friend. Uh he knows what Oh, Braxton Jones has been named the left tackle for the Bears again. So, he had been the incumbent and Jones had been fine, you know, uh but they they tried to replace him. They’re kind of hoping that Aussie kid from Boston College uh would replace him. They drafted him day two, but just didn’t happen. And I feel like Braxton Jones is fine. But uh he knows what he’s doing. It is Is it perfect every play? No, it’s not. But we need to see the execution go uh up over the course of the last few weeks. So, there’s a trust level in him knowing what to do. That’s such a ringing endorsement, right? And Braxton Jones to me is kind of like Riley Reef where it’s like okay, not spectacular. It’s like uh it’s like getting Jimmy John’s at airport. You know, you’re going to overpay a little bit. It’s fine. Well, it hasn’t been fine since uh the since venture capitalist funds took over, but or the private equity funds took over, but I don’t know. I don’t know. But uh Braxton Jones gets to face Jonathan Gernard. Yum yum yum yum time. So Grard lines up about you know 56% of the time on the right side. Does change things up. Andrew Van Genko. And you know what’s crazy too is that as a offensive lineman, you can be successful like 97% of the time and you suck, right? And defense edge rushers edge rushers are so weird. You only need to succeed like one time out of 20 and it can change the game and then you get 40 million dollars per year. It’s kind of wild at a certain point, man. But you know, Braxton Jones starting left tackle, that’s good for the Vikings. That’s actually help if they started Azie Azy Aussie. Oi, you’ll be fine, too. But whatever. Line him up. Bring him on. Uh, when Vikings offensive lineman Donovan Jackson was 13, uh, a coach told him that to cut out junk food despite drinking two, three Dr. Peppers a day. He gave it up immediately. Something his parents could hardly believe. Uh, if this is the way of my dream, if this is the in the way of my dream, I don’t want it. Uh, and David Jackson talking about him growing up, Jason’s dream, and it’s something beautiful. Plus, all right, so let’s talk about this. Do you know how hard it is to take away junk food from a teenager? It’s pretty difficult, right? Plus, Donovan Jackson grew up in Texas. Like, Dr. Pepper is basically the the state. You may as well replace a Lone Star with just a can of Dr. Pepper, right? Dr. Pepper is ubiquitous down there. Same thing. What a burger. And he just g gives it up. Cold turkey. He didn’t have the shakes. Come on, man. I will say this, like u trying to eat a little bit better. Trying to drink less, too. But like like an ice hot day, humid day, like a ice cold diet Dr. Pepper out of like the garage fridge. Come on, son. Come on, player. Uh but that’s awesome. It speaks to the dedication as well. It’s like, hey, this is his dream and he focused on on what he needed to do and he got it done. So, props to Domin Jackson. Got ourselves a good one. Yeah. Speaking of good ones, Justin freaking Jefferson, NFL’s most valuable wide receiver, PFF War. Good god, y’all. And the highest graded wide receiver, 93.4 since entering the league, which is which is good. Which is pretty damn good. Yeah. Uh, and even with with that being good, Jefferson, uh, having all all these years of just complete dominance, uh, he still only checked in number nine in the NFL top 100, whatever. Like, you knew that he was going to be behind Jamar Chase, whatever. Chase end up being number four. They had Saquon number one. I don’t know. I don’t know, man. Uh, they they had Josh Allen at three. It’s whatever. But, I mean, Jefferson climbed back up after that down 2023 season. So, you know, it’s okay. It’s okay. If they hate, let them hate. Watch the money pile up. Speaking of money, Jason over the cap does a great job with with Seller Cap over at OTC. Top 10 NFL teams in cash spending in 2025. Minnesota Vikings active cash spending 337.775, which is great. So, Qu is out here. The Vikings are out here just making it rain. Plus, it’s even so it’s even more impressive because most of these other teams have significant spend at the quarterback position. So, the Vikings have JJ McCarthy on his rookie deal. That means they spent everywhere else. That’s why they certainly are shoving all their chips in the middle all in in this JJ McCarthy rookie wage scale contract window.
