Max Brosmer on TCO Performance Center “I Live Here”

[Music] What’s going on, Jeromes? So, yes, I I know that this outfit is like Big 10 sacrilege, but also I do do not care because we’re supporting QB1 and also future QB2. Uh, but of course QB1, like we said, is Jay Jay McCarthy, the pride of Michigan. Hail to the victor, that that thing. Uh, but I I understand that quarterback 2 this season, if applicable, is probably going to be Carson Wentz because coaching staff, veterans, and all that stuff, but there’s something to like about quarterback three, Maxim Maximus Jerome Ezekiel Brosman. That’s right. That absolutely is, man. Uh, as a high priority UDFA, the Vikings brought him in. Uh, 250 grand guaranteed and you didn’t think much. Okay, Quadzilla’s out here, formerly of New Hampshire and a year with the Gophers. And what what’s he going to be? Is he going to be a nice story? Is he going to be a Mitch Linner? Is he going to do all that stuff? But he rose up and you can make a good case that he was one of the more impressive rookie quarterbacks during preseason. And everything that he does is just it’s scalable, right? This isn’t a fluke, a flash in the pan. I think at minimum Brosmer, aka America’s quarterback, can rise up and be a very solid, dependable uh backup quarterback in this league. That’s his floor. Absolutely is. where uh whips smart, high football IQ, gets rid of the ball, accurate, very decisive out there uh as well, and just operates the offense. And something that that Kevin McConnell talked about before, like when he was a player who’s trying to make the big time throw and make impressive throws, but just the the mundane routine, make it look like practice throws, and that’s what Brosmer does, right? And there’s certainly nothing wrong with that. Uh, and in preseason this year, uh, completed 60% of his passes, 354 yards passing, two touchdowns a pick. You know, the pick was at the end of the Patriots game. So, yeah. Uh, 82.8 quarterback rating. Uh, 72.8 PFF grade. And you know, I I understand that quarterback Rain gets dinged by that one interception at the end of the Patriots game, but also should have had that touchdown to Miles Price and also Dante Fleming should had that fly route against the Titans and that certainly would have guzzied things up a little bit. But Longster Longer Star Tribune podcast, Andrew Kramer was talking about Bro, the Bros show, he said this just in terms of Max Brosmer’s personality, how he approaches it. He told me earlier in training camp like I live here at TCO Performance Center Bar and Grill. Uh this is my home. This is where I live now. Yeah. Uh and our coaches tell me to back off sometimes and be like, “Hey, man. Uh it’s going to be all right. Uh it’s probably a couple of quarterbacks in the building that uh they’re that were that way. I think JJ McCarthy is that way, too. I think you’re telling Max Bros to back off because they need more time with JJ. Yeah, I have to understand I’m not the priority, right? uh coming out of college uh were all the guy right and then we come here and I have to realize I’m number four at the time now number three but really should be number two right uh and as we said bromer taking up residence at TCO performance Santa Barbara now that’s not a knock on JJ McCarthy obviously because you know he’s in the building he’s in the lab with a pen and a pad uh you know the Vikings don’t have to put a clause in his contract to say hey only play so much video games or get x amount of film study in right and I feel like this really is a iron sharpens iron uh type situation where yeah you have two young quarterbacks and they’re going to keep pushing each other to to greater heights and you know JJ as a starter Brosmer future starter someone else somewhere else uh certainly could be a possibility and Bromer he’s actually older than JJ McCarthy almost two full years 6633 days older than JJ and 47 college starts versus McCarthy is 28 and yes you could say new New Hampshire starts whatever but in terms terms of just black and white playing more football. I mean, it is bromer FCS all-American 2023. He was actually the runner up for the Walter Payton award, which is the FCS Heisman to Mark Ronowski, South Dakota State, now at Iowa. Uh, just insatiable football IQ. And you could tell like this is sort of like J.J. McCarthy last year, just absolutely bothering the Jesus out of coaches uh to try and figure out, hey, what did he see here? What was this look? What was this? What was that? blah blah blah. And at a certain point, you know, especially outside of camp in in season, yes, we have to prep for quarterback one to get ready for our our next opponent. And I I I kind of like this. I I I kind of like uh Max Bromer just living at TCO, bugging the hell out of every single uh assistant coach. Like like Grant Udinsky was the caddy for J.J. McCarthy last year. Uh may maybe the new Udinski Jordan Trailer can be the cadish to Maximus Brosmer uh this time around but it’s good to see and again the quarterback room a little bit shaky earlier on when you had Sam how when you had Brett ripping ass but Wentz I think will be fine bromer I like the future as I said at minimum he’ll be a very competent and very decent backup in this league for a long time and you know could be the long-term backup here and plus quarterbacks are important as teams around the league always show quarterback depth is paramount. You could argue that backup quarterback is the second most important player on any given team. And also if the Vikings want to trade Brosmer eventually he leaves a free agency, get that comp pick, it’s good as quarterbacks just cycle through uh the Kevin Oonnell uh school for quarterbacks. It’s going to be fantastic. But uh your thoughts are thoughts. Max Bromer lives at TCU and some coaches have tell him to back off. I like that. I like it a lot. Let’s hear your thoughts. Comment section. You guys the best you have to do. Skull production value.

Minnesota Vikings UDFA rookie QB Max Brosmer “lives” at the facility and some coaches have to tell him to “back off” his insatiable questions and interest.

  1. I really like JJ as our quarterback, but if—God forbid—he gets injured, I don’t see this kid giving the job back if he steps in and performs well.

  2. What do you want from a back-up QB? He needs to know the offence inside-out, take command of the huddle when players are adjusting to playing without their familiar QB1, not commit turnovers or make big mistakes when the team is either mounting a comeback or starting the game without its best QB, immediately gain the confidence of the fans, and leave any ego at the door while doing so.
IMHO, the only thing Max Brosmer is missing is experience playing QB in the NFL during the regular season. My hope is that (a) Brosmer will be the back-up to JJ for the first game or two, while Carson Wentz is learning the offence, (b) the Vikes build a 21+ point lead going into the 4th quarter against the Bears, and (c) KOC gives Brosmer some drives to gain that much-needed experience.
IF Brosmer looks good in that role (..which, barring a bad game from the O-line, will happenIMHO…), then I would suggest that the Vikes should implement a plan to make Brosmer the back-up next year & seriously look for opportunities to give him more experience as McCarthy's backup during the rest of the season.

  3. I think when his opportunity comes, he will ball out! Brosmer has taken some of JJ’s thunder this past week all I hear is Brosmer this and Brosmer that, very little conversation about JJ. This could motivate JJ even more if that’s possible. JJ better perform at a high level.

  4. Could Brosmer jump JJ if he has a slow start? KOC knows more about the actual health of JJ. I’m a JJ fan for sure, but that injury can be tough. Here’s to the Vikings smacking Caleb and the Bears.JJ throwing a couple TDs and the running game having a 125 yd day, and the D sacking Williams five times! Skol😎
