Pirates’ 1-11 collapse gives needed reality check
I would be remiss if I didn’t uh also add that the most pirate thing ever has happened and that is they went out and they basically swept the Dodgers a few weeks ago and everybody got really excited and we were hearing about Donnie Kelly and his over 500 or close to 500 record uh and all the other stuff. And guess what? In the four series since they’ve played against uh the Dodgers, they’ve got swept three times and they’ve lost 11 out of 12 games. Now, you might be upset about this and might say that you’re really in a bad place because of it. I’m telling you this. Um, it’s one of these things where nowadays you should probably root for this to be honest.
After nearly sweeping the Dodgers, the Pirates have crashed hard, going 1–11 including three sweeps. Paul Zeise believes this ugly stretch is actually a good thing, serving as a reality check to keep offseason expectations in line.
