Phillies vs. D-backs Game Highlights (9/19/25) | MLB Highlights

Dbacks playing well. They’ve won 13 of 20. The only National League team with a better record over that span. The Phillies who’ve gone 15 and five. They’re in for a three-game weekend visit beginning tonight. And the Diamondbacks open up with a righthander Ryan Nelson. Boy, and Rhino once again just having another nice year for the Dbacks. Seven and three. He’ll be making his 22nd start. Pops up the first one very high in the air. Short left center. Alec Thomas is under. And now there’s one down for Kyle Schwarber. What a year Schwarber is having. 53 home runs on the season. Lined up the middle. Bernardo got him. Nice. So now Harper rolled to first. Tim is there and for Ryan Nelson a one, two, three start in this critical series opener. Ronaldo Predomo thriving in the leadoff spot. Since again it started against Taiwan Walker once a diamond back now 33 years old and in his third season with the Phillies. He is back in their rotation after spending part of the summer in the bullpen. Taiwan Walker has had some trouble in the first. Here his last few starts here. Get awarening pop up and it’s on the infield. Weston Wilson calling he’ll make the catch. That was flirting with the roof supports that was so high. Here is Catel Marte batting second. We always say a patient Catel Marte is the most dangerous version. Kind of like that. And there it goes. Marte gets him started. Yeah. And Catel Marte, who has always given the Phillies trouble, has homered off of Taiwan Walker here in the first. It’s one- nothing Arizona. It’s been one of the issues for Taiwan is getting out of that early inning, that first inning. He’s talked about it. He was quoted as basically saying, “I’ve got to be better in the first. Figure out what’s working.” cuz once he settles in, he’s been pretty good. But the first inning has been real trouble for him. Well, that’ll bring Corbin Carroll to the plate. He’s one stolen base away from the first ever 3030 season in Diamond Back history and he’s got a base hit to center field. Might see it right here. Keep in mind also Taiwan Walker does not hold runners. Gabriel Moreno Corbin off and running again and Gabby Lane is open. Corbin Corbin hurdles the baseball and he’s in it third. That’s three consecutive hits. First and third, one out. A run already home. And here’s Blaze. Pressure on him right away. But this will help stop Wilson. And they turn the double play at first as Alex Tossy. That nullifies a run. Let’s make sure that Tory Lavell wants to review it here. They can get this overturned. It’s a run because Corbin Carroll crossed home plate and they will challenge that out call at first. Everybody in the third base dugout signaled safe at the same time. I did up here. Yeah, it’s a run if they get it overturned. Oh yeah, boy. Nice job by Blaze. Hit the very, very front edge of first base with the toe of his left foot. That’s as quickly as you can get to the bag and might have made the difference right there. Here’s the results. Have to review the turn. Cory Blazer, acting crew chief, overturns the call. Corbin Carroll scores from third. Blaze is at first. The batter is Adrien Del Castile. Runner goes. The pitch is taken for a strike. Throw to second and he’s out this time. Sto with an unbelievable catch and tag on a bang bang play at second base. So that retires the side finally, but another two spot for Arizona in the first against Taiwan Walker. And there’s one down here to begin the second. Here’s Brandon Marsh and it’s hooked into right. Base hit. First hit of the game for the Phillies. And it belongs to Brandon Marsh. And that brings up Alec Bow for his first at bat. Just activated off the injured list earlier today. Marsh draws out his lead again. And he’s going again. And the 3-2 is rifled into right center. It’s going to be a base hit up the alley. It’ll go all the way to the wall. And with Marsh on the move, he’s coming around third. He’ll score without a throw. And it’s an RBI double. Welcome back, Alec Bow. Wow. And what an at bat. I mean, for him to battle, put the ball in play, and do what he does. I mean, he’s This is This is sort of typical Alec Bow driving the ball to right center field, using the middle of the field, and that’s a heck of an at bat. And now two outs and runner at second for Weston Wilson. Wilson. Pertomo smothers it. Long throw. Got him. Heraldo Permo. What a play. It doesn’t get any better than that. Second time he’s done it in this game. This one was a quality. What an allstar that is. Philly score one. Ronaldo Pommo in the top of the order for Arizona. And that one is fair down the line. Pomo takes the turn. He starts off the third with a double. What a special season it’s been. Ronaldo. That’s one out. Here’s Corbin Carroll. Single and a run scored his first time up. The three 0 pitch is off the plate. That’s fall four. So the defects have two on. The difference though with that Harper, there were two outs when Nelson walked Harper to get to Ray Muto. Only one down now for Gabby Moreno who had a base hit his first time up. Really like to have Taiwan Walker settle down like he did in his last outing. Fly ball right center. Playable. Bader with his crab walk. Gets behind it. Makes the catch. Throw will go to second. Domo takes third on the corners now. Two down and blaze Alexander do. Runner does go. The pitch ground ball up the middle. Wilson’s there to glove it. He’ll throw to first and the inning is over. Oh, Carol had the bag stolen, but the Dback straight at two. That’s two down. Here’s Harrison Bader. Doubled his last time up. Diamondbacks have led since the bottom of the first. Bader swings and drives it deep left field. Back is McCarthy at the wall. It’s gone and we’re tied. Harrison Bader with a home run to left. his 17th of the season. 2-2. We start over in the fifth. It’s starting to become the Harrison Bader show. And he’s not wasting any time. It’s the second time he jumped all over the first pitch. And this one was either a cutter or a slider and he smokes it to left and he knew it immediately. Second walk issue by Nelson. Well, here’s Harper. The one two and Harper swings, drives it into right center. That’ll be a base head. Schwarber around second. He’ll easily make it to third. Harper big turn. holds there. Good idea. That’ll put men on the corners and again it’s JT Romuto who is on the spot now with two outs. Bounced up the middle and charges and he’ll step on the bag for the force on Harper. Phillies do get a run to tie things up. Got a new pitcher on the hill for the Phillies. Walker Beller. Two quick breakouts for Beller. Here comes Catel Marte who has one of the Diamondback’s big hits. Marte deep to center. Bader back it up. Look it up. It’s at the wall and it’s just below the line. Marte has a double. Corbin has singled and walked. He scored a row. Two on RBI here. Can get the lead back for the Diamondbacks against former Dodger Walker Buer. Swing and a miss. Struck him out. High fast ball. Got him. And Corman Carroll down on strikes. And that ends the night for Ryan Nelson as Jaylen Beaks. Left-hander takes over for Arizona. And a ball right side through for a hit. I mean, he’s been phenomenal. And there is one out. And it looks like we’re going to see a pinch hitter. And here comes Nick Castanos. Marsh takes off. Called strike three. Mars is in at second. Castanos rung up and he’s barking at Dave Morales. That’s the second out. Castiano still barking as he walks back to the dugout. Jaylen Beaks faces those three hitters. And that’s it. We’re going to have a pitching change here at Chase Field. Righthander Taylor Rashy. Just his seventh major league appearance. The 29-year-old rookie faces Weston Wilson with Brandon Marsh down there at second base for the Phillies. Wilson rips one through the left side. A base hit. Marsh around third being waved home. The throw is cut off and Weston Wilson hammers one to left. It’s an RBI single and it’s a 32 Phillies lead. by it. Three balls right on the screws and he finally gets his knock and and it’s a big one. He just turns on it, stays on top of that fast ball and smokes it into that six hole. Brandon Marsh had an excellent secondary lead and scores easily with his speed. Alec Bow over there at first. He’s a lead off base run. And now Castillianos and it’s swung on hit deep left field. It’s on its way. It is gone into the Diamondbacks bullpen. And there’s home run number 250 for Nick Castanos at long last. Nick Castanos has given the Phillies a 52 lead. Well, is that huge for Nick Castanos in the Phillies? Comes off the bench, has a really good at bat, gets punched out, but he gets himself a little slider. As I said, kind of flat from Woodford. And Nick just stays right on it and one hands it out of the ballpark. Ball four. He walks Moreno and it brings the tying run to the plate to Bla1 Alexander. And Blaze takes all the way. They’re loaded now. And you likely see Jordan Lawler bat for Adrien Del Castillo. So here we go. Down three. Three runners on. Two outs in the eighth. Well Tanner Banks big spot. Bases are loaded. and Banks, who has been kind of one of the busiest guys in this inherited runners department this year for the Phillies. And Jordan Lawler will be that person at the plate. He’s pinch hitting here for Del Castillo. Here’s a swing and a pop up and it’s on the infield and playable. Who wants it? Stopped behind the mound. He’s got it. Tanner Banks puts out the fire here in the eighth. So now they’re going to walk Brandon Marsh to load the bases and that’ll bring Alec Bow to the plate. Shoots one up the middle. That’s a base hit in to score Harper. JT’s around third and Alec Bomb delivers a two-run single and the Phillies open up a 7-2 lead. A three RBI night for Bow in his return to the lineup. Yeah, really nice job by Alec Bow again. And he’s one of those guys who uses the middle of the field as well as anybody. He gets beat on this pitch a little bit, but he fights through it and drives it out into the outfield and picks up a couple of RBI’s. Castiano steps in. He’s ready to go. One pitch swung on line towards left center on the run. Thomas plays it on a bounce. Marsh coming around third. They’re going to wave him home. There’ll be no throw to the plate. And another run batted in for Nick Castanos. And the Phillies opening up an 8-2 lead here in the ninth. And a three RBI game off the bench for Nick Castanos. Really good swing here. Stays right through it. Nice and smooth. This is typical Casianos when he’s going good. Staying through the baseball and Alec Thomas couldn’t make the play. Nice job by Marshian. Pick up another run. Yeah, just like that, the Dbacks down to their final out. Here’s Jake McCarthy. Tip two, line towards left center. Bader is back there to get it. He’ll put it away. And that’s out number three as the Phillies take game one of this three-game set in Arizona. Big nights for Bader, for Bow, and for Nick Castanos as the Phillies run away late to an 8-2

  1. The D-backs slowly lost their fighting spirit this game. I was there and their at bats were so quick and barely any momentum. And I don't get Torey's weird management decisions like putting Lawlar in for the clutch at-bat in the 8th.

  2. Here he is again… immediately touched his neck, licked fingers and to the magical snowball on the bill of his cap. Can't stand it. Only pitcher that does it every time
