Loyal Blue Jackets fans should stop hoping for playoff wins and begin demanding them

  1. I expect them but we need to actually make the playoffs first. That’s the first part of exiting this rebuild then the playoff success will be part 2.

  2. I expect the team to make the playoffs this year but to be honest, it will probably be against someone like the Panthers and I don’t expect them to win. If we look like we belong I will still be happy with the season as a whole. We are still a young team and the name of the game is progress. It’s when we start going backwards or the front office stops pushing that Id get into “demands” territory.

  3. This article is easy to mock but it’s absolutely spot on. The way the fan base treats this team is incredible. The fan base always have excuses and criticism in the game threads is swiftly downvoted. The collapse in the late middle of last season was just that, a collapse. Oller wrote this with kid gloves because that’s what this fanbase is, childish. What they’ve done for 99% of the last 25 years is completely unacceptable and this sub is largely ‘but guysssss we’re sooo young and they’re trying soooooo hard’

I’m sure this will go over well in here just like anything against the rainbows and sunshine, but if you don’t want to listen to me, listen to Z:

    > At the team’s preseason media day, All-Star defenseman Zach Werenski said, “This year, I genuinely feel like if we’re not a playoff team, it’s a failure for this group. I think everyone believes that in our locker room.”

A **failure**, he said. They should be held to that expectation.

  4. “Fans should demand” but don’t necessarily stop going to games, just “nitpick”. Well, many (most?) of the 17k odd fans at any ol’ game don’t know hockey well enough to nitpick anything, unless you count yelling “SHOOT!” as nitpicking.

The Columbus Blue Jackets have accomplished nothing in 25 years. The reasons why are layered.

An empty arena or “nitpicking” fans isn’t going to attract All Star free agents.

The front office, coaches, trainers and players need to demand the playoffs for themselves.

  5. I would give my left nut for a Jackets Cup but these type of statements are silly. Everybody wants to win. Every fanbase could “demand” playoffs and guess what, half won’t make it still 😂.

  6. Complaining about high game attendance and loyal fans is an interesting choice coming from a local newspaper. You can tell he is really trying to sound edgy to get people to read his article. Give your balls a tug.

  7. My secret shame is that I remain torn between wanting a good team and having access to easily attainable and affordable tickets.

(I can’t decide if this is /s or not)

  8. > Check that, treat the CBJ the way OSU fans treat the Buckeyes now, by nitpicking every three-and-out and field goal allowed.

Hear that boys? If someone makes a mistake and costs us a game, death threats are on the menu…? What!?

As a devoted fan of both teams, don’t go full Buckeye. The fringe dickhead wing of OSU fandom is a bunch of cringe and unbalanced lunatics who peaked in school. This writer is a dipshit, and I think he must be one of *those fans*, too.
