Cobb was a horrific racist. He used to chop up black babies for his smoothes but wouldn't use mexican babies.
Ty was 39 at this time.
This was tremendous. Thank you very much.
The stands were packed, shoulder to shoulder
I didn't know the Tigers wore pinstripes on their home uniforms. They always had the Ole English D on their left side. of the jersey.
The 1930s. So much as changed it might as well be a different planet
Cobb was dumped at the end of the season, amid evidence that he and pal Tris Speaker bet on a fixed game between the Tigers and the Indians, years before.
Raising that big US flag now days would offend many people
Cobb was the dirtiest player in baseball. All kinds of nasty tricks. At his funeral 2 people showed up. The preacher and 1 other person
How is this colorized footage of 1926 tycob and the Tigers? Considering it's mainly black & white. But then again black and white is a color
it's too bad full games don't exist like today, what would really be interesting is watching how the game and strategy of the dead ball era played out. of course it was the live ball era by 1926, the babe hitting 54 and 59 home runs in 1920 and 21.
what's also interesting is how big changes in baseball, america's pastime and the movies dramatic shift from silent films to talkies came along about the same time. despite the depression starting in 1929, the first 30 years of the 20th century is probably the most significant time in human history.
Good old Navin Field. The corner of Michigan and Trumble. ❤
Didn't Ty Cobb beat a man to death? 🤔
Pitcher had a cannon. Amazing footage!
I’ll never tire of Seeing Ty Cobb Footage my idol ❤⚾️
And after this he went in spikes up at second base jumped into the stands and beat up a fan and retired on his Coca-Cola stock, allegedly😮
Tigers should bring back the pinstripes as an alternate jersey. It would be a HUGE improvement on that "City Connect" trash. That looks like a beer league softball uniform!
Then it was built into Briggs stadium, and then it was renamed Tiger Stadium . The last time I went to Tigers game at Comerica on Woodward, I noticed from a distance that the old ballpark was still there. That was about 18 years ago. I wonder if its still standing?
Ty Cobb, one of the best. Love those old school unis
