If mason wants to be a duck for 6-8 years for 7-8mio AAV give him that. He is easily worth 7m AAV right now and a contract like this will age like fine wine. And tbh Verbeek should call all 2026 RFA agents after McTavish and start negotiating on contract right away. You do not need to wait until the end of a contract to get a deal for a new one.
Increasing cap will yield future 2nd line center 60 point players more like 9 millions a year. And he is 22 so he might even get better – I’m actually pretty positive that under the new system with a functioning PP Mason will easily get to 60 points. Maybe more.
Thanks for your videos btw. Really enjoy watching your interviews and reports!
