Cubs vs. Reds Game Highlights (9/21/25) | MLB Highlights

And the Reds on the set. Lark, they are one win away from securing the second four game sweep of the Cubs in 42 years. Looking at the upcoming schedule , the Reds yes, have seven games left to play as of right now. They are one game back of the New York Mets thanks to four straight wins for the third national league wild card spot. The all star and Andrew last time out, it wasn’t in Saint Louis. It wasn’t great. He lost, had a 30 loss in four and two thirds innings that he pitched. But listen, once again, it’s about the presence about being that guy to go out there just like these guys the last few games. Zack Littell being the pitcher from last night, given this offense a chance this team is playing some good baseball cracked to right there will be Marte there one day struck him out high heater. We’ve seen the chase at the fastball at the top of the zone and half couldn’t catch up to that one. Now, Suzuki, the 31 pitch is swung on, lifted in the air short right field toward the line, long run. Marte nearing the line, make the catch A, has a 123 1st in his last four history and all the Cubs have won all four. He’s got a 169 a in that stretch. Big reason why this one home run allowed in 21 in a third innings. Tapper back to the mound. It flips the bush one away 31 from t on to look bouncer off the glove of T goes right to Horner and he throws to first in time. That will be 1 to 4 to 3. Put out two down bottom of the first. No score. The batter is no LV Marte grounded sharply to third spinning. Turner can’t get there. It gets by and is the batter is Spencer steer pop fly right center coming in Suzuki waiting and squeezing no runs for the Reds. We go to inning number two, scoreless game cubs and red legs. Justin Turner. The batter a base hit could give the Cubs the first run of the game at home of the 21 to Turner hit sharply on one hop to third. Brian Hayes gloves it on the bounces it over the steer for the outside retired Benson is gone. The batter is a de la Cruz swing and a miss and gets him with a changeup really well executed straight change here by J Mo. Fading away. Catches him out front the 02 big chop to short of charging Swanson with a routine play running flip throw to first in plenty of time. Smooth 123 innings for the Cubs have their first two batters aboard here in the third and now you can hear the Cub fans making some noise, anticipating a rally. This is a change up to center Fried bluff at second. Strong throw in out of bounce. Cruz. What a win. Here’s Ian Happ with runners at 1st and 2nd. He was a strikeout victim. The first go round popped up high into the air right on top of the mound. Here comes key Brian Hayes. He will take it just to the third base side to down. That is a big out for Andrew a in that spot of Ian hat. The check of second. Once the pitch popped up high into the air, shallow center field. Here comes Friedel. He’s got it and a nice job by andrew Abbott to get out of that through the first two batters reach. He’s in there and that’s a double for matt mclean. That ball. Two down. Reds have a runner at second base. Here’s Gavin Lux. He’s hitting in the number two spot here this afternoon. Hit to right down for a hit from the scores and luck shuts it down at second and RB I standing down Celtics, Carson Kelly went from 02 to walk his last time on the edge strike three perfectly executed fastball on the outside part of the plate. Carlos Santana line drive base hit left field Carlos Santana with his first knock is a cub. He had been zero for 17 and he laces one hard into left one out man aboard, singled his first time up. He’s up there right now with the tying run 90 ft away. Swanson at first Santana at third two outs popped up. Do brain Hayes. The call, the Cubs again threatened but lead two will be is the batter grounded to first his first time up groundball right side, backhanded by Bush good play and he feeds Ty on the bag. Very nice play by Busch a diving backhand stop. Then he did the reverse pivot and fed overhanded to Taone to get more on the throw and made a nice play. A Dala Cruz the batter 1 to 0 reds. Fourth inning wrapped on the ground fielded by horner edge of the outfield grass lob throw to first in time 123. So now the start of third time through for andrew Abbott. Top three hitters are a combined over so far lace the other way and I with a two out single, the inning continues. Suzuki will come up to and after that half hit here comes Terry Francona Abbott’s command has been a little shaky pitch counts high, got a power right handed bat. Abbot’s been a little prone to homers of late bullpen has some depth. Today. I think this is the right move. Terry Francona wants right on right against Suzuki. Nick Martinez swing going to miss struck him out with a changeup down and in Suzuki didn’t look good against any of those change ups that Martinez threw him. That’s how he got ahead and that’s how he finishes Suzuki have not lost four games in a row all year. I don’t believe certainly been swept in a four game series. Indeed. They have not had a four game losing streak. Good breaking ball. No argument from Hayes struck him out man at the plate with two away center field Alterra back makes the call and the grab Reds go down in order here in the bottom half of the fifth inning TJ Friedel first up in the innings. Ty pitching a good ball game check swing. Did he go? Yes, he did. Friedel chasing an off speed pitch strike three now has set down eight in a row, has seen it pretty well. First made a reach since lux himself in the third two down in the batter is spencer steer swing and a Miss Tyrone gets another strikeout. Let’s see if the Cubs can get him some runs as we go to the seventh inning. Crow Armstrong will step to the plate. He will bat the spot of all contra all into center field. Friedel has it measured a couple of steps back. He’ll make the catch is a three up, three down 7, 7-Up, 7 down for the right hander Martinez and into the seventh. He goes six innings of four hit one run ball. He has struck out four. He has not walked a man on the ground fielded by Ty Shovels to first in time. We go to the eighth inning. It remains Reds won Cubs. Nothing just out of the reach of spencer Steer and just inside the right field line for a single, a two out hit for Suzuki and the Cubs have a baserunner. So tying run is on. Here’s Carson Kelly 22 swung on , popped up behind home Trevino under it right in the Reds logo. He’s got it right in the ring of the e he makes the catch behind home plate. The inning is over. The Cubs go quietly in the eighth. They strand another right hander Brad Keller Keller on for the 66th time on the ground. Horner collects and throws out lux a scoreless inning for Brad Keller. We go to the ninth inning. The Cubs need some offense. Here we go. It’s Tony Sant seeking his seventh save of the year. He already has a couple in September ball for the tying run is the board. Now, Dansby Swanson in the air right center Marte. The call reds are two outs away. That will be Willie Castro off the bench to hit for Justin Turner. Here’s the 2 to 2 pitch swing and a foul tip. He holds on to Trevino for strike 32 down here in the ninth inning time on the scoring position. It’s not over yet. Pete Crow Armstrong will make his way to the plate if you thought it was going to be that easy to strike away. The Reds are in playoff position one final book and Donna deliveries the first four game sweep by the Reds of the Cubs since 18. Just their second in 42 years.

  1. If the Chicago Cubs play in the post season like they played in Cincinnati this weekend, THEY'RE FINISHED IN THE FIRST ROUND !!!
The Reds aren't all that great, but the Cubs SUCK !!!

  2. And this one belongs to the Red Legs. We get the 4 game sweep and tie the final wild card spot, but we own the tie breaker. Need to take care of business against the Pirates and need the Cubs to take down the Mets
