So I was going for a “get right” game and we eventually got there. Hopefully the offense continues to find itself without our 1 and 2 reciever.
Discourse online seems to be more about the giants than us, which is fine. Keep eyes elsewhere for once so maybe we can surprise ya
We have a ton of spoiled fans. We just went to five of the last six Super Bowls in a league that punishes good performances, and everyone is ready to fire Andy and anyone else who makes a mistake. News flash: We’ve been drafting 26-32 for a long time. There’s a reason our team isn’t as good as other teams.
Also, we are missing WR1, WR2, and WR5.
Soooo, I do regret one comment I made in the game discussion thread last night, sorry about that one. This game started out extremely rough and it was starting to look like it was another game that was gonna end with the giants pulling out a miracle. Thankfully, some form of the old chiefs came out in the second half and fully shutdown the Giants entirely. Offense found some rhythm and defense only allowed one field goal. Next week is the ravens. If we get worthy back, and the offense improves off what they found in the second half, they got a chance to turn this season around and go 2-2. They hold their destiny here, let’s see if they wanna keep it. Go chiefs!

Looks like we get to keep Blu for one more week
– Butker concern is now high
– Hollywood has slowly worked his way down to being WR5 when everyone is back healthy. No separation and never fights for the ball or through contact, if a receiver gets hands on him it’s over
– Pacheco has regressed hard
– Pass rush was still mediocre
– Kelce’s step has been lost and not sure even a fraction of it is coming back
– Mahomes has to be literally perfect otherwise we are not moving the ball
– Run defense left a lot to be desired but that seems to have been the game plan considering they just stalled Saquan last week, so we know they *can* do it
– Jawaan Taylor
But
– Thornton has played himself up to being the 3 when everyone is back
– Mahomes still does look excellent
– Pass blocking has had its moments when not getting flagged
– B Smith needs to see more playing time imo, has elite burst and if they can get him settled in could be a great piece
– Secondary was clamps all game
The problem with this offense is it just cannot find a rhythm and doesn’t have the manpower to overcome miscues which there are plenty of. Fingers crossed Worthy is still effective when he returns and isn’t just playing scared from here on out
A win is a win. Take it and move on.
Next week isn’t a must win. But it’s pretty important. Reid has owned Haraugh, though. So there are positives. Lamar has had struggles against the Chiefs.
I hope we found something offensively in the second half that we can try to build off of going forward. When Worthy is back I want to see multiple deep shots to him and Tyquan every game. Even if they don’t work, we need defenses to worry about having to defend them. Plus you’re more likely to draw DPI if you have a 1 on 1 match up deep down field which we finally got last night.
Also thought we ran the ball much better with Mahomes under center instead of in shotgun. I’d like more of that and using play action out of those under center looks.
love seeing more under center plays and LOVE seeing Mahomes throw “fuck it, he down there somewhere” balls. still not there yet, but hopefully this is a good sign.
EDIT: truly, i do not understand what Pacheco thought he was accomplishing on that backward pass play. Mahomes probably shouldnt have thrown that, but i can also see why, in the moment, he didnt expect his RB to be running towards their own end zone
Jawaan Taylor without the penalties is still a huge concern. I know the Giants have some dogs on that D-line but I saw reps where JT didn’t even get his hands on Brian Burns. I mean… didn’t slow him down at all. I always heard that JT was solid without the penalties. I’m not so sure.
