Mac Jones on 49ers’ close-fought win over Cardinals: ‘I didn’t play my best but we finished strong’

All right, thanks so much. Well, take a breath, Mac Jones. Points were hard
to come by early. But you made some
critical throws here when it counted the most. Just what was the groove you
got into on this final drive? I mean, honestly, the
guys just had my back. And I went out
there and executed the plays that was called. And I had time to do it. So KB had some great catches. We kind of have a
little chemistry. So, really happy for the guys. And what a great kick to finish. Well, yeah, so it’s
out of your hands there as Eddy Piñeiro kicked
it through the uprights. What are you thinking? Yeah, I was like, Christian’s
the best player ever. So he got us those extra yards. And I’m like, I
think we’re good. But I’m trying to
calm everybody down. Like, we still got to make it. But he did a great job, and
it was just a great team win. I didn’t play my best,
but we finished strong. You’ve been granted an
opportunity here, obviously, with Brock on the sideline. Just how have you been
able to find your groove and take advantage
of the moment? Yeah, he’s been great. Brock’s my– one
of my best friends, and I want him back out there. So hopefully, he’ll
be back next week. And I’m just glad
we got two for him. And he’s going to go take
the team back and win it. All right, thanks, Mac. Thank you.

  1. Mac stepping up and going 2-0 is so huge for this young team. I don't think people realize. They have the 3rd youngest defense in the league and they are making clutch plays. The last 3 weeks. Stout,Williams, Sigle,West,Collins all getting tons of snaps. I'm excited to see the development from start to finish with Saleh and Kris Kocurek leading these young guys. two of the very best. Defensive guys go there to save their careers.

  2. To do a winning drive at the end of a low scoring game like that is one of the hardest highest pressure things to do in all of sports. Mac can be very proud of this showing.

  3. After being born into the Joe Montana versus Steve Young era of faithful I gotta say that comment about Brock being his best friend both confused me and made me Really happy. I don't know if I've ever heard in my life a backup QB especially one that was drafted way ahead of the starting QB in the same draft call the QB1 his best friend. I'll take it though. Also I don't think Kyle was Wrong for wanting to draft instead of Trey. Imagine Mac was this fortune is Brock to develop for four years in the Shanahan system? I think he could have definitely been as good as Brock at this point maybe not early on but right now I think he could

  4. I know every comment is talking bout Mac;s response but I still think it's understated. Dude said can't wait for Glock Purdy to get back. That sentence alone should earn him a contract
