Cincinnati Bengals HC Zac Taylor ‘deserves to have a job’ | Chris Simms Unbuttoned | NFL on NBC

Now to the Bengals. This is at Who Day Ed. My biggest question says at Who Day Ed? Why does Zach Why does Zack Taylor have a job? Well, that it’s funny. I I I know what you’re saying. Okay, it’s it’s bad starts, right? They’ve missed the playoffs the last two years. Here’s another not great start, but they’re two- one. And I’ve sat here and said they’ve been outplayed at all three games. I mean, there’s there’s no question that the Browns were the better team on the field that day. In the second game, the Jaguars were the better team and blew it. And yesterday, I mean, there was no doubt. I mean, it looked like the Vikingsh Water Boys might have been better than the Bengals on that one. Now, like I understand the question, but I think the answer is fairly obvious. You go to the Super Bowl, you go to the AFC Championship game the next year and have the Chiefs on the rope. And if it’s not for a bad penalty on one of your defensive ends, you might you’re you’re probably going to pull it looks like you’re going to pull off the upset and beat the Chiefs again for the second year in a row. I think he gets a little bit of a free pass cuz some of the injuries and things that have happened on that football team. He gets a free pass one maybe. And I don’t want to say a free pass. I I don’t mean it like that because I think Zack Taylor has definitely brought, you know, some of a winning culture and a belief to the Bengals franchise. I I think we got to give him the respect for that. But I think between Joe Burrow getting hurt two years ago in the midst of it looked like making a run to get in the playoffs and be a real pain in the ass there. Yeah, it was a bad start, but he gets hurt on that Thursday night against the Ravens that derails the end of their season. And yes, I think that gives him a a little bit of an excuse, right? Last year, oh man, the defense, the GM, the owner, they didn’t help out the defense with personnel. Lou Anaruma became the scapegoat. But I think because of that, that gave him another free pass. And hey, you’re an offensive coach and Joe Burrow looked like he was the MVP of football last year. So I think that helps it out as well. And here we are again with another injury to Joe Burrow. So there’s going to be that that that failsafe, that excuse there to go, well look, you know, hey GM owner, you haven’t supplied me with the most complete talented team here. And when I got my quarterback, Joe Burrow, we’re pretty dangerous and scary, but I don’t always have him. And I think that kind of gives him a little bit of a get out of jail free card there a little bit. I I don’t think I think that Zack Taylor deserves to have a job. I’m with you in some of the frustrations and what they’ve done and how they’ve looked at times certainly, but I think there’s been enough results for him to have that job. But we’ll see how the rest of this year goes because if it looks like it did the other day against Minnesota, right, with Jake Browning looking looking like he’s Jake from State Farm instead of Jake Browning. Yeah, there’s going to be some boobirds and some people questioning Zack Taylor. Yo yo homies, it’s time to watch some games. That’s right, we’re on to the NFL season here with Chris Sims Unbutton. 1. If he is considered for the Miami Dolphins job, that’s the only head coaching job. However, I would still take Bill O’Brien — if he has a winning record at BC, Mike McCarthy, Todd Monken, Kliff Kingsbury, Anthony Lynn, or Doug Pederson. Even Gannon without Kyler is an upgrade.

  2. Robert Salah might do some magic with his Job, Would Joe Burrow have literally went to the AFC championship game last season, with a good DC? that's my thing.
