Series Recap: Reds Sweep Cubs
Maybe the Reds could get one back and and stay in this wild card. You know, we talk about momentum after you win a ball game. Now you’re coming back to face a Cubs ball club that is either clinched or really close to clinching their way into the playoffs. And you got Hunter Green going tomorrow. I kind of like that momentum. You can’t say enough about the effort from Hunter Green. I mean, absolutely brilliant tonight. Six innings without allowing a hit for Hunter Green. Swung on and ripped to the right center gap. Hayes charging around third. He’ll score. Benson slides in safely at second base with an RBI double. One ball, two strikes and strike three called. He got him with a high slider. Hunter Green goes the distance. A complete game shut out. A one to big offensive explosion by the Reds today, but one proved to be enough. Their shot at a wildard spot is still in play. Iaga leans heavily fly ball, but yes, that does mean home runs. That is cracked left field. Home run on D. Hit hard and high and deep to left. And you can kiss that baby goodbye. I told you it was going to be a home run night. He drives this to left center field. All three hits for the Reds have left the yard. And Fredel slaps a line drive over third into left field. Base hit. And we’re even at four on the two out RBI single by TJ Freed. This is deep to left center field. Way back. Gone. De Cruz left field. It’s gone. There we go. Ellie Dela Cruz finally blasts his way out of the drought. Hayes has it and still alive in the wildard chase. But I I really truly believe that these last two games is indicative of what can happen for this team. Mlan breaks throw to the plate is laid and they’re tied at one. Have played it one in the inning but looking for more off the glove. And the Revs have taken a 2-1 lead and that is gone. Fredel lashed down the right field line. Fair ball. Home run Freedom. It’s a high deep fly ball right field at the wall. Gone. That’s a huge two-run home run for Tyler Stevenson. The Red’s lead is three. If they weren’t standing a second ago, they are now. Pagan with a break even pitch. Here it is. acknowledge him. Pagan punches him out. The Reds are hot. They’re a game out in the wild card. You You have to play your best baseball when the lights are the brightest. And this is when the pressure is on. And it’s kind of uh the part of the season where it’s no lose season. You You can’t afford a loss because if you do, you’re going to fall back. And right now, you can’t afford to fall back. As of right now, they’re one game back of the New York Mets thanks to four straight wins for the third National League wild card spot. H right down for a hit. Wave is out for ML and RBI standing double. One nothing Reds. Pitchers are dealing here today. Yeah, that’s what it’s been about. It’s low scoring affair. All about the pitching. The bullpen once again has done an exceptional job keeping these Cubbies at bay. Quick glance at second. The O2 pin. Strike three C. And that’s it. The Reds have swept the Cubs and have come back from six games down earlier this month to catch the Mets for the final wildcard spot.
The Cincinnati Reds sweep the Chicago Cubs to move up the standings with six games remaining.
