Why was Andy Reid so mad at Travis Kelce? He gave him a chest bump and got in his face. He normally doesn’t act like this with other players. What were they saying to each other?

  1. Travis told Andy that mustard doesn’t belong on cheese burgers, only hotdogs. Andy strongly disagreed.

  2. Probably frustrated at how bad the offense has been performing. Same thing we are doing from our homes, it’s just not in public.

  3. They’re close like father and son. I think Andy criticized Travis’s play and Travis criticized Andy’s play-calling. They probably squashed it then and there. We won so I really don’t care. Lol

  4. I think I read Andy’s lips well enough to see “This ain’t Happy Gilmore 2. Get your head out of your ass and play some football!!”

  5. I think Kelce free-lanced his way into the path of the main route concept.

    Other possibilities
    – whiffing on an important block
    – lining up in the wrong place

  6. I have no idea… probably about the play-calling that hasn’t been working forever and he wanted Travis to catch that ball…But honestly, I don’t even care. Like in the Super Bowl, as soon as they start yelling, something gets done. Last night was no different. Loved that he bumped Travis 😂😂😂 at least this time Travis isn’t being accused of senior abuse….

  7. They’re not mad. That’s how they’ve communicated. It’s their dynamic and they’re both okay with it.

  8. I see nothing but mutual respect and motivating going on in this interaction. People just looking for stuff.

  9. It’s clear their relationship is different from other players. They have a special love language, and I’m only kinda joking. It’s almost brotherly but also like an adoptive/step father and son with a good relationship, but aren’t afraid to call eachother out? I’m spitballing here.

  10. At this point in time I think this is just how Reid gets through to him. Travis is clearly a very emotionally forward kind of guy, and I think he responds better to coaching styles that are emotionally forward.

  11. Kielce has only played for Andy in the NFL. They know who gets the cheeseburgers and Kelce hasn’t been providing them.

  12. This is a big ESPN nothing burger! A vet coach and a vet player exchanged words on the sideline. My 10 yr old did the same with his coach when they pulled him and put in JC in at SS…

  13. This is a coach who knows how to talk to a specific player and get through to him.

If it were anyone else, might be something. Kelce made it clear awhile ago, this is how he needs to be coached.

  14. Honestly I think Andy knows how to press Travis’ buttons in a productive way when he needs to. This was about getting him fired up and back in the game.

Andy is remarkable about learning each players personality and style, and adapting his coaching style to fit them. He’s worked with Trav longer than anyone at this point. Travis is an intense dude, and sometimes you match intensity with intensity. He’s both firing him up and redirecting and focusing the intensity. Trav seemed to respond well.
